The paranoid creature heard the hybrid's questioning, and panicked further. The Cubone attempted to somehow nestle himself deeper within the book's protective cover, but only managed to give himself away more. To Ellery, the English dictionary on the floor would appear to have some sort of tail and stubby brown legs popping out from its underside. The Medicham looked down at the worried little thing and chuckled to herself. <No, little one, I'm afraid I haven't. I'm sure he's just trying to play with you..> She made a sly, subtle gesture toward the tailed-and-legged dictionary to her side. <Maybe you could find some information in that book.> The 'book' would only object by flailing and thrashing a little violently before settling down, defeated, tail pointing downwards.
Hearing what he perceived as some sort of taunt against him, the Vulpix rapidly shook his head, letting some grime fly from his fur. <No, I most certainly am not afraid of water! Are you crazy? How was I to survive for so long if I was some kinda meek little hydrophobe? I mean, y-> The challenge quieted him before he could spit out anything else. <A.. battle?> He narrowed his eyes determinedly, reeling and curving his body down in some combat-ready pose. <You've picked a fight with the wrong fox,> he barked, letting the shiny fur at the back of his neck stand somewhat. <If I win, you must bear this same badge of honor, this same burden, as myself!>

In spite of what may be everyone's own wishes, it's true. The Medicham was being brought forcibly back into action (action is used a little loosely here) for the sake of keeping things exciting. The attention-seeking Cubone sought an area where attention would be least kept. His eyes gliding from side to side, he managed to find what he would consider to be a viable hiding spot. As it turns out, this hiding spot was.. cowering under the opened-up folding of the Medicham's English dictionary. The scholarly Pokemon looked down curiously at the Ground type, aware of the situation, but confused by his reasoning. "Hm?" Feeling as though it would be improper not to tease everyone involved in the situation, she resumed with reading her book as though absolutely nothing happened, sweeping the Cubone's club out of the view of any passerbys. The panicked Cubone nodded thankfully before fleeing back under the cover of his 'hiding spot.'
The Vulpix gulped immediately upon hearing the words 'water' and 'gun' being put together. Sure, he'd used water before. In fact, he was almost certain he lived off of water and whatever food he can find for several years now. Water was good, and he had no reason to reject it. However, there was something in him, some innate fear, of the words 'Water Gun.' As an almost instant response, he shook his head and swatted his paw back and forth insistently. <No, no! That uh.. that won't be a problem!> He got on all fours and tried to look fearsome, bristling his fur and looking about ready to pounce the Dratini. <I mean, look at me! I don't call this filth or dirt, I call it a.. uh, badge of honor! Yeah, that's right! A laurel of experience!> Somehow, he felt as though the only one he was attempting to convince was himself.

The Medicham could do little else but smile again. She let him off on his way, wondering if she should have done anything to ensure that he wouldn't do anything he would regret. However, she realized that he's an adult, and beyond that, a human being. Why meddle in such silly affairs, regardless of how quaint they are? She resumed reading her book, keeping herself open to hearing the human and his 'date.' She's fairly certain that is precisely what this is.
The orphan continued to give his berry that hateful stare. It was as though he were destined for this confrontation - destined for a confrontation with the only generous gesture he'd ever seen in his miserable life. And in this confrontation, all the Cubone could do was.. scarf down the berry and stumble away awkwardly. Without word, he attempted to run away from the Pokemon and his trainer, overcome with some sort of strange, unknown feeling to him. It was like he realized that sometimes everything in the world isn't wholly mean to him. Looked as though he was really just looking for a place to hide, really. Unfortunately for him, no matter where he goes, it seems he sticks out like a sore thumb.
The Vulpix shook his head. <Please, please. I'm sure if you were in my place you'd do just the same thing.. er, right?> He tilted it slightly, for some reason not sure of what even he said. <..Right?>

The Cubone saw the friendly offering of the berry as a method by which the Bunvee could further cement deceptive flattery. Regardless of the hybrid's true sentiments, the lonely Pokemon continued to feel as though he was being set up for a fall. He could only glare down at the thing, seeming poised and ready to just smack the thing out of the creature's hand and club his head in with a bone. However, for whatever reason, the Cubone dropped his club and hesitantly snatched the berry away from Ellery's hand. The moment after he took it, he just stared the berry down, as though expecting it to blow up in his face. It was quite a contempt-filled stare.
The Medicham giggled once more. Anyone could really determine the man was, in some way, faltering. "Hm, just a friend." In spite of her excitement, she maintained her still yoga pose. "I would recommend that you at least attempt to feign calmness. To exhibit any visible reluctance may dissuade her from being as happy as you would like her to be. Certainly, I would feel dissuaded." She resumed to reading her book, nodding in reply to Haiiro.
The Vulpix shook his head. He smugly shut his eyes, sitting straight and putting a paw over his chest. <Please, it's nothing. I'm sure there are a lot of Pokemon like myself who grew up here and left with similar adventures. I've had to defend this sacred library against countless intruders who, um, doored to intrude and attempt to.. er, filch the books.> Sure, he made a few mistakes here and there, but he was certain he got the message through. This guy's obviously a seasoned adventurer.

The Cubone still remained wary to the Bunvee, possibly even hostile. This could be evidenced by his growling, his words of, <You're.. you're not going to get to me!>, or, most likely, the fact that he just attempted to flog the hybrid with a Bone Club. Unfortunately for him, he missed his target narrowly and simply slammed his bone against the hard floor of the library. It only looked as though he were attempting to attract MORE attention towards himself, as it seemed he was just throwing a tantrum more than anything. <I know what you're going to do! I sa- I heard it happen!> One could attribute his behavior to two things: he was legitimately afraid of being kidnapped, as all those stories seem to very vividly inform him, or he just never made it a point to learn proper social skills. The latter seems more likely.
The Vulpix simply turned his head away from the Dratini, maintaining a strange amount of poise in spite of himself. <Of course you wouldn't understand. You haven't lived here your whole life, you haven't seen all the stuff I've gone through.> He shook his fur for a moment, letting more small particles of dust and dirt fall off to his sides. <Just seen a lot. That's all.> He sat back down and eyed the Dratini, somehow appearing to be legitimately offended, as though he was unaware of his own filth. <So, what's your story?>
The Medicham listened to Haiiro attentively, slowly bringing her book back towards her and re-opening her eyes to start reading again. After hearing him explain his reasoning for being here, she paused and put a hand over her lips, laughing quietly. "Hmhmhm. I see. There is a first for everything. First I have seen humans, I have seen humans battling, and now I have seen a trainer spend time with another in what.. hm, what do they call it?" She pointed her finger toward a rather large-looking dictionary off in another bookshelf. Oddly enough, it had actual, readable English inscribed on its binding.
The scholarly Pokemon dropped the book she held gently on the ground and, with a certain amount of grace, hopped up to the appropriate shelf and carefully pulled out the dictionary. Climbing down the shelves, she stood at her previous position and flipped through the pages for a moment. "..ah, that must be it. A.. date, do humans call it?" She shrugged, dismissing it, and put the dictionary down at her side, returning to her first book. "Very well. I see no reason for you to act with any hostility, especially given your rather.. tender, intentions." The Medicham smiled briefly before entering into some sort of yoga-like stance, holding the book outstretched before her with one hand, her other arm pointed out into the opposite direction.

The Cubone reacted rather.. poorly, to the offer. He shrunk away, his back clinging onto the wall. Rather than perceive it as any sort of welcome, he saw it as a taunt, some sort of ironic gesture of kindness. Brandishing the bone in front of him, he tried to keep her back. "Cu..." The most he could manage was a growl, in an attempt to intimidate her away. He'd heard from many, well, not DIRECTLY heard from them; rather, eavesdropped, that many a family or a Pokemon had been stolen away from this home by humans seeking either knowledge or an addition to their party. The hostile gesture he made was likely half-hearted, and he ended up grasping his bone in both his hands, as though he were attempting to hide behind it.
The Vulpix tilted his head at the display curiously, yawning quietly, dirtied paw hovering over his open mouth.
The Medicham put a finger over her lips and 'shushed' Haiiro as he attempted to apologize. Both of her eyes were shut as she let the book go, it suddenly floating at her side. She put her hands together, clasping them as she concentrated. Slowly, words began to escape her lips. Her voice was pronounced, careful, and eloquent, sounding as though she were a human herself. "Often humans pass here for either one of two things: knowledge, or Pokemon to capture. Occasionally, it may be both. Which one do you seek, should it be either?" She gradually opened her eyes as she spoke, focusing on Haiiro. "It is clear that you have not come alone, yet I feel there is no malicious intent in your partner. Am I to believe that you, too, share this intent?"

The two humans reading and discussing whatever issues they may discuss, at surface, seemed to be the only activity within the expansive library. Of course, it could not possibly be so. As small, inconsequential and certainly not extraordinary bugs skittered along the aged halls, Pokemon stirred.
A sullen Cubone, bone resting at its side, looked at the two from afar. He felt he already knew the result of their meeting. He felt that these two would immediately dismiss him upon arrival, and would flee off to somewhere else. It's not like he'd blame them. The orphaned Pokemon continued to mope, making a few, hardly audible whines.
Meandering along some empty shells was a particularly different Vulpix. This particular Vulpix was different in the sense that he was, well, colored differently. His fur was colored in a resplendent gold, and he carried with him an air of.. actually, dirtiness. Yes, the Vulpix shone in the darkness. However, this shine was obscured by his matty, long fur, which was covered in dirt. He smelled as though he'd gone through some sort of freshly discovered burial tomb (not that he ACTUALLY went through one, and even given the opportunity the guardian spirits keeping the burial tomb's treasures safe from daring fortune seekers would keep him away due to intolerance of stench). Gratuitous descriptions aside, yes, this Vulpix reeked. He found a comfortable area in a bookshelf to sit and observe his surroundings, particularly the two humans.
Finally, somewhere within the noteworthy expanse of bookcases sat a studious Medicham. The noises she left behind were not of her own cry, but rather, of the crisp sound of aged pages flipping. She was left rather undisturbed by the arrivals, and kept to whatever she'd been reading the whole time. It was clear that she was not attempting to hide her presence, as the page turning could be very easily heard several bookcases away. [/blockquote]

The impetuous little Castform acknowledged the Umbreon and just giggled at the canine. It approached the two carefully, eventually coming close up enough to actually make any sort of physical contact. For just a scant moment, it smiled mischievously before immediately pulling away into the clouds. It could not be seen in the heavy layer of snowy clouds. If one were to look hard enough, however, they would see that the sun's rays had begun to permeate the cloud layer, even if only in small capacities. This had been to the point that the snow was actually melting in some areas.
The curious Taillow and the vigilant Patrat continued to watch over them. While the bird Pokemon was a bit more adventurous, starting to hop from tree to tree to get closer looks, the Patrat stood absolutely still, attempting to intimidate them with his unblinking stare. Upon hearing the Umbreon growl, the chipmunk chittered back, starting to feel as though the Dark type was directing her hostility towards him.

EGG RESPONSES (Because why the hell not?)
Delismur (Garci): "Garci, it, uh, looks like it came out wrong." "What do you mean? It appears to be fine." "What are you talking about? Look! The poor thing is just quivering at all these lighting fixtures!?" "You are being asinine. It is a newborn. Are newborn children not absolutely stunned by bright lights?" "Well, yes, bu-" "Then there is my answer." "I.. you're incorrigible."

An ounce of serendipity made its way to Mason (well, fortune here is a bit of generous use), as the bounty hunter and his Pokemon found themselves directly at the entrance of a large, open clearing. The wintry season, on the other hand, was not so kind. Snow slowly yet steadily dropped from the clouded skies above, the sun's rays for the most part obscured, otherwise dimmed. If Mason were to observe carefully enough, he would see a docile Castform brushing about the very bottom of the cloud layer, taking up its Ice form. The little Weather Pokemon was simply playing with the incoming precipitation, spinning about and contributing to the gentle weather by spitting out snow of his own.
Within the trees, a watchful Taillow chirped at the new arrival, turning a curious head about to observe the dark-suited arrival. As suspiciously as the bird seemed to be eyeing him, she was simply wondering what reasons the man had for being here of all places, and postulated several theories to herself as to what they could possibly be. Underneath the tree in which the Taillow was perched was a cautious Patrat. While the little rodent knew that passersby were hardly at all hostile, his instincts told him otherwise. His watchful eyes remained on Mason, even in the man's stillness.

Garcian: "Garcian.. what's this?""Do you honestly believe I would waste my valuable time on mindless folly such as this? Garci shook his head and remained in composure. "It was.. nothing." His voice faltered slightly. Clearly, this was quite something. I mean, this is what, the second time he fell into severe danger? Terrifying? He was certain she was probably referring to her own outing. She probably didn't even see him plummet off of Kalypso and nearly fall to his death, the snarky littl- oh right, surfing.
Lexus's head turned to face Cricket. "It's odd, you know? Garci has recently been surrounded by dangerous experiences. In Sol Beach.." Garci stopped her there, of course. "..nothing happened. Nothing happened in Sol Beach." He may have been okay with her mentioning Oceanus, but he'd rather not have his Volcarona have to recall again what she did. Sure, the wound was only a mark now, but he felt now that her disposition might falter if she remembered that she was the one that launched the unfortunately misfired Solar Beam. "Garci, I was just-" "Please, don't worry about it." It was odd. It was almost like he was considering the feelings of his Pokemon. Huh.
And still the trio of whales continued toward their destination. Kalypso followed instructions well, of course, while feeling bound and gagged to do so. She saw the figure moving, and was heading straight for them. Yep. To them, it would probably seem like the whales were on a collision course to crush them and continue on. Man, doesn't that suck. "Hey, it's trying to get away! Go, go!" Garci tapped the toe of his shoe on Kalypso's back, as she hurried forward. It was a little more than odd, how a giant whale - no, three whales that may or may not be connected together, could feel such tiny people on her (their?) back(s?) and still respond sensitively.
The whales sped up on their course. They were approaching their target at an alarming rate. "Kalypso! Stop when you reach whatever those things are!" <W-W-w-what?> She silently muttered back. Now, in whale terms, this was nothing short of a murmur. In normal people and regular-sized Pokemon terms, this was an echoing rumble of inquisition. <Kalypso, dear, he's asking if you could stop when you get to those figures in the distance there.> <A... ah, okay.> Her thundering whimper implied a positive response. "Did she get me?" Garci maintained his balance and looked down at Lexus. "Yes, yes. I believe she understands."
Their final moments were approaching them. The poor Steelix and his Trainer would likely get mowed down. No other witnesses. No evidence. All of them, lost in the sands. Well, maybe. People and Pokemon have probably gotten over worse. This is obviously an exaggeration, and the poor Steelix and his Trainer would probably have turned out fine. If the collision happened. Which it didn't. See, Kalypso made a dead stop, almost a screeching halt. Her central body stopped just short of the Trainer and her silly companion. It was literally such that if Nero were to reach her hand forward enough, she could touch the rough surface of one of Kalypso's mouths.. belly.. things.
Garci poked his head out, and cast a small shadow above the whale. "Lexus, take me down if you could." She obliged, and took him by four of her legs, carefully and daintily descending. "Okay, the ground is.. solid. This is good, Lexus." He mulled over things for a moment and decided, "..I suppose you can take Cricket down. If she really wants to. Bet she doesn't." He does love saving his informal speech for his archrivals. They deserve what they're worth. Yep. Lots of hate.
The boy addressed the two. "Er-herm. Hello, there." He adjusted his vest and his goggles, sliding them up to his forehead. He was certain that the two would think that this encounter was entirely normal, and therefore adjusted himself accordingly, conducting himself with that same gentle, formal behavior. Lexus, meanwhile, was hovering up to where Cricket was, offering her legs to her. "If you wish to come and see whoever may be down there, dear, I am here."

Thus, the whale troop was off on the move again. Garci planted his feet firmly onto Kalypso's second back, and gripped onto the suitcase. An intense expression crept onto his face, carefully placing the Go-Goggles back over his eyes. Kalypso's response to Cricket was generally minimal. She uttered a whine at her and continued forward. She took no pride in her work, and she doesn't seem to come off as the conversationalist type.
Garci lurched forward in trepidation, trying to steel himself. "Here comes the worst part of the ride.." To suspend disbelief in this sense would be an entirely rational idea, the Duglord trio starting with a Dig. It was just the way she did things, in order to get herself (selves?) motivated. Springing up into the air, she started into the sands, sinking a good 10 or so meters into the sands.
Garci was immediately buffeted with tiny yellow grainy things, and with such a great amount of them, he felt pressure surround his body and attempted from falling backward. It didn't work. "Aaahk!" Instead, he fell onto his back and hurriedly struggled to get back up before she started to rise out of the desert 'ocean.' Garci was carefully getting up on his feet, while the whales snaked on forward. "Are you well, Cricket?" A little bit odd, addressing his mortal enemy's well-being at all, but even he could admit that this newfangled new 'sport' he devised was a little bit dangerous.
Lexus had a bit better luck when it came down to things. After all, she has wings for a reason. The Volcarona knowingly moved in advance to where the Dugtrio would ascend, and fit snugly on Kalypso's middle head with Garci as they rose. While the whales were moving up, Garci yelled to Cricket. "Quickly, before she gets all the way up! Run up to her face and grab her by the nose!" Making a mad dash up to the front of her head, he grabbed the middle creature's red nose with one of his hands, carefully moving the hand with the briefcase to grab it for more support. He turned his head to face her yet again. "Make sure not to grasp TOO HARD, Cricket! She will sneeze!" Experience has allowed him to realize that having a whalemole's snot all of your hands is not good.
For a moment, Garci realized how unnecessarily action-filled his life has become. First, that dramatic encounter against his Oceanus, the venture through the Clock Tower, and now he's surfing on the heads/shoulders/whatevers of giants. This convenient moment of rumination distracted him enough that he lost grip on Kalypso's nose. Bad moment to do so, too, as the whales were now pointing vertically upward, preparing to majestically lash their tails downward and begin to swim along the sand. "Jesus chr-" The breath was taken away from him as he started to fall, and from quite a height. A good 20 or so feet of falling welcomed him into an 'ocean' that was either solid or cushioned quicksand. Yet, even with his falling, he held onto his suitcase for dear life, holding it to his chest. This may not be a good idea, all things considered, what with the increase in mass times gravity equaling downward potential energy and blah blah blah.
Lexus, the caretaker that she is, immediately noticed this. "Not again!" Filled with concern, she swooped down to him as he fell. She didn't have quite a great amount of time to save him. I beg you suspend your disbelief again, as the earwig caught the boy with four of her legs, just before he was going to fall feet-first into an uncertain fate. "For the love of Arceus, Garci." He tilted his head back and sighed. "Yes, let us just keep going on with this. Do you wish to rub it in further now that we're even?" He crossed his arms over the suitcase and huffed. The earwig only snickered mischievously in return. By now her Solar Beam was only a faint black mark on the boy's arm, but it still endangered him.
"Don't worry, dear. I'm satisfied now." The Volcarona quickly placed her charge back on their ride, and clung onto the molewhale's back next to him. Kalypso continued on her (their?) pace as she (they?) stabilized and swum again. Garci dusted the sand off of his clothing, and regained his fairly regular, cold-looking composure. "Right.. I believe things will smooth out from here. Hm, do you see those figures?" He pointed in the direction of the faraway Semeil, and carefully turned his foot to follow that direction, stomping it down twice. "Oi, oi!" Calling to the whales, almost steering them, they turned to face the distant creature.
..Nero probably saw this whole display. Albeit, in slightly more shocking news, the whales seemed to be.. heading straight forward for the woman and her Steelix.
And it was good.
And loaded with unnecessary amounts of action.

The young man remained limp on the beach floor. To passersby, they would see a faraway body left, possibly as a victim of the strange 'shark' that attacked them. They slowly began to gather in a semicircle around him, if you consider the semicircle to have a diameter of 50 to 100 feet. One of them realized that someone ought to contribute, seeing as the lifeguards were allegedly doing absolutely nothing to help the particular child. This someone rang up 911, and, addressed to the supposedly young girl near him, "Hey! I called an ambulance! Just keep him safe!"
Of course, Lexus and Persephone were already meandering about for a container. Persephone in particular was making an effort, as she bored into the ground and dug back up at certain intervals, almost scouring the entire beach. Lexus found herself at a loss - obviously the Diglett outclassed her in that aspect, so she decided to stay behind and look over her trainer. "I shouldn't have tried to intervene.." The Larvesta shamefully shook her head, blaming herself for Garci's current state.
The Diglett continued to move from hole to hole, making that beloved old chant, "Diglett dig, Diglett dig!", as she eventually found herself shrouded in a red darkness. Oh. She just popped her head into a bucket. Persephone chanted meekly, to try and make her presence known. "D-Diglett! Dig!" Lexus took notice to this, and quickly pointed to the red toy sand bucket that popped out of the ground. "Oh! Will that work?" She pointed her body in Persephone's direction. The poor thing wouldn't be able to get to Garci with that over her head.

I'll do another one why not. (Spoilers for a Pokemon Movie even if everyone here's probably watched it at least fifty times) Little did Pikachu know, not only could his tears revive petrified Trainers, they were also the perfect all-purpose adhesive, from glass sealants to caulking jobs.
No one must know.

Pikachu was incredibly reluctant about his plan. He turned away from Ash and pretended to break the bottle by accident. Tears flowed from his eyes, but he knew that he had to do this. It wouldn't be hard. He managed to fool his trainer into believing he loved the tomato-based condiment. The glass shards were just sharp enough for him to do the job. The ketchup bottle still had, well, ketchup in it. It would be the perfect crime.
The stage was set. He turned around. He didn't realize that what he was about to do would set the course for a full-on Pokemon insurrection.
