Adrian streamed through the desert with the afternoon sun blazing in front of her. It was a bit blinding to say the least, and she couldn't well keep her shades on while riding her motor cycle. It was something a desert-dweller had to get used to. The sun was like a constant companion in an empty wasteland. It wasn't completely empty though. Adrian disliked the name wasteland, she preferred the term hidden treasure-land. There were plenty of good things about the desert, and plenty of pokemon that resided there.
She was nearing one of the desert's greatest treasures now. The shadow pokemon laboratory was somewhat of a landmark. With the exception of the occasional cactus, one could travel half the desert without seeing anything but sand. This building was alone out in the middle of no where, and that was because of its unique nature. Crafted from the desert sands, this building had a specific purpose. Some might deem this purpose evil, but Adrian thought otherwise. There was no such thing as good and evil to her, only power and those that keep her from it.
The duchess stopped a good distance from the sand-smothered building. She parked her cycle then looked out behind her. A speck on the horizon grew larger with every passing second until a hulking tauros panted beside her. "You've been slacking on your training, Valencia." Adrian chastised.
<Si, si, senora> The bull pokemon replied apologetically <Yo se.> He seemed very disappointed in himself. To reassure her pokemon, Adrian patted him lightly on the nose. "Come on, we have business here." The pair walked side by side toward the blocked off doors of the lab. Now all she wondered was where Alias could be.

Yue Alias walked around the shadow pokemon lab like a starving Houndoom ready to tear into some old flesh that was lain on a floor in front of it only told to wait and stay every few seconds by its master until the time was correct. Such lovely work Master... such lovely work indeed... But alas such ruin to the beautiful steel rose of the desert... such a destitute look you have taken on, my love. I'm sorry... Daddy is home and he will take care of you from now on..... played out in Yue's mind as if one were codling a child rather than walking around area of the shadow pokemon factory. He had returned his little darling, the Happiny he had yet to evolve despite the fact that he had purchased an oval stone to her pokeball while walking through the sand in order to keep her health up. However, Faya, the Flygon whose purpose in life seemed more guided by the sands rather than of human hand, was out and flying only a few feet above Yue keeping him shade as he went. My love my leisure... I shall take excellent care of you and beat that silly pink haired girl who dared to call herself a scientist... I will make the ultimate shadow pokemon...far beyond the reaches of even Lugia... and prove myself the best scientist in the world... and I will do it with you, my love.... my dear... my beautiful shadow pokemon laboratory....Yes you who have captivated my heart and my single eye for so long..... my dear.... Master Ein will never return to you. I fear the worst has happened to him if not the closest to the worst... but I am here... and I will make you prosper once more.....Hearing the sounds of a sand bike not far off, Yue looked up at the Flygon just above him. "Go take a look...." he ordered calmly and watched as the Flygon darted off to see what there was to see. However, Yue already had a feeling who it was seeing as the time was quite correct for the duchess to appear. My love... we have a guest who will help you.... he grinned a fraction what would be considered an insane smile at the shadow pokemon lab before simply nodding to himself and starting towards where Faya had flown off to.

Suddenly the ground rumbled, and the factory began to shake slightly, if only on this side of it. Desert Earthquake versus cliff quake. Things shook more in loose soil, and this is where sand counted. Also, think of what happens when sand shakes. It sucks at things on top of it. So basically, there were a few rocks sinking and the sand was, at present, sucking at the legs of humans and of their Pokemon. The Factory itself wasn't sinking, more like the sand around it was rumbling slightly. Huge sand dunes were forming from the shaking in some places, while others were flatter with more small dunes forming.
Nearby, under a good portion of sand, a Hippopotas was laughing to itself. Yes, it was fun messing with humans. It had been inhabiting the area around this place since a little after the place had been abandoned, and now it was stirring up trouble. The mischievous Hippopotas knew, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that the humans would never see it under all this sand. Man, that dig attack was handy... Anyway, back to it's Earthquake. It was having a grand time, stirring up trouble. Maybe a factory window would crack, if it was lucky... or maybe even the wall would crumble. Who knew? It was just having fun.
~~~ This is where the physics of 7th grade science class and the Denver Robot Garden's Earthquake simulator come in handy. XD Yes, they didn't teach us that sand sucks at things during an earthquake in Science class... but once you've been in that Earthquake simulator... you know what happens to sand. XD
Adrian saw Yue's flygon before she spotted him in the distance. At first she thought it was a wild pokemon and considered capturing it as a companion for Legacy, but as she kept walking Alias came into view. She could only assume that a wild pokemon wouldn't be this interested in her and that it was acting under its trainer's orders. She wasn't sure whether she should call out to him or wait until he saw her. Adrian found herself leaning toward the latter because she felt that yelling was too common for her (she always managed to forget this when angered).
Adrian thought about how long her comrade had been waiting for her at the lab, but then she realized she hardly cared. Her eyes looked the dark building up and down as if she were checking out a prospective lover. There were some things she had previously overlooked in passing. The duchess had only ventured this close to the laboratory a couple times. She remembered being in Cipher's shadow pokemon lab and compared this dying vessel to that hi-tech place. Could her lab live up the expectations in her mind? Of course it could, if a lot of work was put into it.
The duchess reached her partner and waved a bit, "Hello, Yue." She began while taking her sunglasses from her bag. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long." That was a lie based on courtesy, but she doubted he could tell. Her eyes were now protected by her glasses and her face remained expressionless.
One of her hands flew to clutch at her tauros's mane. The sand beneath her boots had turned into a vacuum and she was not happy about it. Adrian suspected a mischievous pokemon at work and looked around for the culprit. Unfortunately, there was nothing around but moving sand.
Faya spotted both Adrian and the top of what appeared to be a Hippopotas with her keen sight yet made no move to attack either without Yue's direct order. Her levitate ability allowed her to be oblivious to the sand itself and wonder curiously as to why Yue was suddenly looking downward. However, she still did not question it. The envious green dragon was pleased to see that the Happiny was not in Alias' arms for she despised the pink egg for taking her attention away, yet now that she found it was more of a business trip than anything else, the Flygon found herself extremely irritated and willing to take it out on anything that came within a foot of her aside from Yue. Hearing Adrian's voice, Yue stopped and readjusted his vision in his one eye to find that she was standing not far off now. Smiling to himself, the white haired man made a light chuckle. "Never long, Duchess," Alias smiled lightly back. "I was simply looking around the lab and seeing what needed to be done on the exterior before I started on to the interior. It seems some walls will need to be replaced soon to keep intruders from entering the premise."Faya sighed outwards to herself as she watched still levitating as her master began talking with another human. She made no motion to approach but was growing insanely jealous of Yue taking to another human. She wished to attack the human that had caught Yue's attention, yet she wouldn't unless ordered to. The green dragon had been a shadow pokemon once, and the experience had set itself as a prospect of her emotions that returned when the door to her heart opened again by Yue's blunder of things. Master Ein would later look over the events that transpired by sheer accident with a careful eye before finally ignoring it and returning to business.
The Hippopotas suddenly realized all of his shaking was having little to no effect on the humans, as well as it had exposed his back and head enough for him to peak out. A Flygon looked at him, and then away. Largely annoyed, the Hippopotas lowered himself deeper into the sand, where his back was completely covered by several feet of sand. Then, he used dig to swiftly crawl closer to the humans.
Soon, he was only a few yards away, and he started up his Earthquake attack again! Oh yes, he would make them panic! He would make then sink neck-deep into the sand and then he could use Rock Tomb on them and then he could call some of his pokemon friends over and have them lick them! Oh that would be fun! Humiliation to the humans! Yay!
((OOC: This hippopotas is kind of sadistic xD))
Valencia snorted and tried to free his hooves from the evil sand that clung to them. His efforts were in vain, for hard as he try the sand's will seemed stronger than his. This both infuriated and confused the bull and he looked to Adrian for answers. <Que pasa?!> He turned his great horns to where the flygon was searching. Was something over there causing this to happen?
Adrian held onto her pokemon, trying to use him as leverage to stay on top of the sand. This proved fruitless as the suction of the sand overcame her. Quickly her mind ran through options. She had lived in sand all her life and should know how it functions.
"Valencia, use ice beam on the sand." The duchess ordered her pokemon to freeze the sand around them, thus making it a hard surface. The tauros obeyed and sent a cold beam over the shaking yellow grains nearby. With the ground no longer sinking they were able to stand on top of the quickly-cracking ice.
Adrian looked to her partner, ussuming that if he didn't jump on his flygon then his state was no better than hers. "We have to get inside of there, now." Her gray eyes went to the sealed doors - Valencia would have no problem muscling his way through them.
As the sand moved, Yue's red eye narrowed sharply. When the ground was iced over yet still shaking a fraction, the white haired man found his Flygon staring at him. She had the familiar stare of dark irritation that he had reflected the moment before upon seeing her trainer sinking into the sand. "One moment, Duchess," Yue said aloud before looking out towards Faya. "Faya, use Solar Beam on the sand where you feel the need, my dear," he said aloud. The Flygon's wings outstretched sharply, and her eyes shimmered sharply as a gigantic Solar Beam charged up and then shot at the ground shoving up sand and throwing things around. Feeling the pressure of the sand that as forced up, Faya used the amount of sand that she felt in order to calculate how far down it was till the sand no longer could shove itself up. Using this as a measure, she directed her Solar Beam around until she finally found something buried under the sand. The Solar Beam was not strong enough to continue, but it had exposed the pokemon who had started the earthquakes. Upon seeing the Hippopotas, Yue stared at it sharply with the intent of knocking it straight out. He refused to have something like said pokemon around his lab twenty four seven making lab work difficult and the like. It was not his style of things. "Now use Dragon Claw," Yue ordered.
Ugh, stupid Tauros and Flygon! They were ruining all his fun! First with their Ice and now with their Solarbeam and Dragon Claw! Hippopotas had had enough. He burried himself deeper into the sand again and moved Positions before the Flygon could hurt him anymore.
He then used Rock Tomb on the people and their Tauros anyway. Heh, if they can't move from that spot all the better. Giant slaps of rock jutted out around them and formed a sort of high-walled cage. Oh yes, Hippopotas would enjoy this. He would pick on them and mess with them until the fat lady sung!
But now he had the Flygon to worry about. The thing could fly, and would probably try taking him out again at it's master's orders. Hippopotas used dig again and ended up in a different position, behind the Flygon, and used attract. Shooting a fast-flying heart shaped bubble at the flying Pokemon as he resurfaced.
Adrian rolled her eyes at first, thinking the solar beam was useless. All it did was break up her ice and make a mess of things. However, when she saw that the hippopotas was further revealed by this tactic, she decided that it had some tactful purpose.
The duchess gritted her teeth and glared at the rocks closing in around her. She was of noble blood and if this pokemon thought it could cage her in - it was dead wrong. Her reaction to this was to turn to her tauros. Valencia hated closed spaces, which was why he loved being in the desert. The pokemon was a bit claustrophobic and this tight situation bothered him.
"Rock smash!" Adrian ordered sharply. She knew Valencia would have no problem breaking through these rocks. The large bull got on his hind legs and kicked at a rock with his front hoof. While he did that his horns worked on another rock by smashing into it.
Faya twitched a fraction feeling the Attract move. her eye twitched even more so as she found herself not in love but more or less still unable to really move herself at that point. Stupid creature.... she thought to herself waiting for the effects on her body to go away. Yue watched as the rock smash destroyed the rocks, and as he caught sight of what was happening to Faya, his one red eye narrowed sharply. "Happy use water pulse at both of them," Yue ordered throwing out a pokeball not minding that Faya was in the way. Hopefully it would get her to wake up as well. The Happiny that took form seemed to charge up a Water Pulse and shoot it directly at both the Flygon and the Hippo pokemon.
The Hippopotas roared as his rock tomb was destroyed by the Tauros. No fair! No fair! No FAIR! He was about to charge angrily at the Tauros and give him a piece of stone to lodge down his throat!
But then the man sent out a Happiny. The stupid little thing sent a Water Pulse attack. As Hippopotas was hit by it, he cringed. Ow! That'd hurt! Rumbling, he charged at the Happiny in a Take-down attack. Oh yes! He'd make the little dipstick pay!
Free from the earthy containment, Adrian and he tauros went to join Yue. The duchess watched as the small pink pokemon fired water at the hippo pokemon. She hadn't expected the happiny to be capable of using such moves. She thought attract and maybe growl would be more appropriate, but the attack was a good idea. Not happy about following someone else's example, Adrian decided to have her pokemon use the same attack.
"Water pulse, Valencia." The bull charged toward the hippopotas, wanting desperately to gore it with his horns. He stopped a fair distance from the ground type and sent his own stream of water at the wild pokemon.
Upon seeing that someone else was shooting off water, Happy danced in delight and began to shoot off more water more or less for her own enjoyment now. Yue said nothing but simply allowed his Happiny to continue her water pulse assault. He had taught the young pokemon Water Pulse for one specific reason in the desert... because he hated the desert. The hot dry climate was nothing but a nuisance to him, and the white haired man hated it beyond the recourse of disposition. This was what had encouraged him to also teach the young pokemon Rain Dance. However, he would not use that at the moment. Faya blinked a few seconds before finally shaking her head and managing to get a hold of her previous emotions. Rage suddenly stemmed into the Flygon at being the butt of such a foul attack. Suddenly rushing forwards, the sand dragon unleashed a Dragon Claw and tore into the Hippo pokemon with all the rage of an angry woman ready to kill. Yue resisted the urge to laugh as he watched his Flygon shoot towards the Ground pokemon. My my Faya my dear you're so.... he laughed to himself anyways despite trying not to.
The Hippopotas grunted as more and more water started to hit him, and blanched as the Flygon flew at him and hit him with a Dragon Claw. It was suddenly all too much. The Hippopotas thought how beautiful and strong the Flygon was as he watched her destroy his consciousness. He was suddenly in love. He feinted with hearts in his eyes.
Adrian watched as the flygon destroyed the hippo pokemon with precision. It looked familiar, this wrath that the sand dragon displayed. Years before she had seen shadow pokemon in action - not the droid-like shadows similar to her riolu, but the beasts in hyper mode. They behaved with such dangerous volatility it was as if they would never be calmed. Even at that age, Adrian respected power, and the power of closing the hearts of pokemon greatly interested her. Now, she supposed it was simply an angry pokemon she watched battle. However, its resemblance to the products of cipher stayed in the back of her mind.
She was glad to be rid of the meddlesome ground type. Adrian looked at its fainted body with little interest. "Humph." She said with slight pity, "Would you be interested in capturing this?" The duchess pointed a finger toward the fallen pokemon.
Valencia trotted around the sand which had ceased to grab at his hooves. Even though he had not dealt the final blow, he felt that the victory still belonged to him. He snorted and kicked up sand behind him before returning to Adrian's side.
Faya was going in for the kill at that point. As the hippo appeared down for the count, she was already making her move to slash a throat and finish the beast that in her mind at least had left a terrible stain on her reputation as a pokemon. Die you stupid creature! Faya roared throwing up an arm and ready to finish things. Upon seeing this, Yue sighed outwards. He was not one to get in the way of Faya's anger, yet he could not let a pokemon go to waste in this way. He use extra pokemon later in the lab as experiments perhaps or simply turn it into a shadow pokemon and sell it later down the road. "If only to use for experiments later," Yue answered back taking a pokeball out and throwing it at the Hippo before Faya could completely slash it to pieces. The irritated dragoness turned her head upon seeing that Yue had the intention of keeping the pokemon. Damn it, Yue...You took my ending, Master. she stared for a moment before finally deciding to break of and instead dragon claw the ground without mercy as though she were ready to kill something else that was down there. However, after a few seconds, she would calm down and turn back to Yue.
The Pokeball shook a few times before beeping and growing silent. The Hippopotas was Yue's!
Name: *you choose* Species: Hippopotas Gender: Male Ability: Sandstream Personality: This Hippopotas is kind of mean and prone to playing rather large-scale tricks on people and other Pokemon. He is very territorial and not the cuddliest creature around. He also has a HUGE crush on Faya the Flygon.
Meanwhile, all the shaking had moved an Electrike form his burrow. He looked quite sleepy as he was suddenly behind Yue. Apparently, the shaky sand had moved him quite a ways. Blinking and looking up, the Electrike stood, moved into position, lifted his leg, and proceeded to pee. All over Yue's shoe and lower pant-leg.
But on Adrian's side of the field, things were a bit different. There was a Cacnea, mimicking a regular cactus, just behind her as well. After she started talking, it got irritated, jumped into the air, and smacked it's thorny arm into her backside. It looked over and Yue to see that the Electrike was still peeing.
The duchess clapped her hands together lightly while laughing. She was smiling coyly, making her birth defect disappear almost entirely. If she only smiled more, perhaps fewer people would notice her imperfection. She wasn't easy to amuse though, so a genuine grin came rarely. Such a humorous scene as this was too much not to enjoy - Adrian had to admit it. Adrian watched Yue's face, waiting for the reaction she knew was coming. The electrike seemed like quite the jester, and Adrian decided that she would capture it. Its act of urination made her adore it immediately.
She hadn't noticed the cactus pokemon hiding behind her and froze when she felt its needles. The pain was immediate and she cried out in surprise and indignation. Her face went from a shocked white to a red ignited from anger. How dare this pokemon embarrass her so? It would feel her wrath. "Get the hell away from me!" She screamed at it, aiming a kick directly at its face.
Adrian hastily reached into her bag and came back with a pokeball in hand. She threw it into the air and smiled viciously. The sphere popped open and released a mighty salamence. Legacy landed in front of her trainer and stared down at the cacnea.
"Flamethrower."
Yue stared down at the Electrike with all the looks of a serial killer. His red eye was leering right then and there. Pest.... he mused to himself a fraction before looking over towards Faya who was all but still in a rage of things. "Faya dear would you like a playmate? Yue asked causing the Flygon to stop and look at her trainer with a sudden grin. "Iron Tail, dear," he smiled stepping out of the way just as the green dragon came barreling straight at the Electrike forming an Iron Tail, and then smashing it straight at the electrical pokemon. Happy giggled a fraction and clapped her hands together, and it was then that Yue noticed his Happiny was already headed straight towards the lab. He decided to let Faya have her fun with the stupid creature and started to walk towards Happy. Upon seeing this, Faya understood and smirked as she knew that she was free to take out her full anger on the pokemon.
