Hm! Something else that would likely make the Espeon more likely to come with him... Whitney dug in her purse, and pulled out a small box of Pokemon treats. It was mostly empty, and the contents probably a tad stale, but he offered one to the cat nonetheless. "This isn't very good..." he warned, holding out the biscuit, "but it's all I've got on me. ...I'm sure there's better at home~ and if not I can buy some, heh." This was as much a lie as the lovey-dovey d'awww-ness from earlier. Honestly, Whitney's income wasn't all that great...but, if he never took the Espeon out of storage, she shouldn't go hungry; the stasis should take care of that. It wasn't a great experience, but it wasn't like the Espeon would be able to do anything about that.
...If that time ever came. She still needed to win over the psycat's trust.

Ohhhhhhhh well that was nice~! The Espeon took a treat or two and seemed extremely pleased. Oh this morning was getting just plain wonderful<3 "Nya" was the call that came from the Espeon in thank you of sorts. She'd love to go with this person if Whitney'd supply the food and things~! And petting... of course!

Whitney felt confident, now, that asking the Pokemon would result in an affirmative. She took a ball out of her purse, and held it out in front of the Espeon. "So...would you like to come home with me~?"

The Espeon grinned happily and brushed up against the pokeball as if it were too a person. The ball consumed the psychic cat pokemon and didn't move once before dinging in capture.
Name: Species: Espeon Gender: Female Ability: Synchronize Personality: A hopeless romantic at heart, this Espeon loves to see good relationships grow and prosper. She's extremely compassionate and loves to help others succeed. She likes to be held by her trainer and pet and will get jealous if another pokemon is pet and she is not. This Espeon, for whatever reason, seems to have a ribbon and a bell tied onto her probably by some child or something as a gift. However, it appears to hold no other higher claim than something of aesthetic value.

Mmm, yess. This was going well~
Whitney watched the ball be teleported away, and content that the Espeon wouldn't be escaping him, continued her search. He headed towards the hedge maze once again.

Not far into the maze, two baby pokemon were playing. An Igglybuff and a Togepi appeared to be splashing each other with water that had collected in a dip of the rocky ground. They didn't seem to notice anyone approaching and were having too much fun at the moment.

...Meh. While Whitney was sure that they were good for something, baby Pokemon were not for him.
She passed them by without a second thought.

Not far off under the shade of the maze itself at least for now given the time, a Happiny was dozing and making quiet sleeping sounds. Up farther ahead, the maze forked left and right.

Meh, another Pokemon to pass up.
...Hm. At the fork, Whitney chose left, though she wasn't totally certain if there was any reason to it.

The maze continued on, and there appeared to be no sight of any pokemon for a while. However, at another turn, a Chikorita could be sen being chased by a Togepi.

...Bah, okay, he'd bite. Outside of the resort, Togepi would probably fetch a nice price, and Chikorita almost certainly would.
Whitney edged closer, because from here it was difficult to tell whether the chasing was playing or legitimately angry...

Indeed, it appeared just a simple game for the Chikorita tagged the Togepi and then made off in a different direction while the Togepi turned and started off towards the Chikorita. They remained completely oblivious to the human at least for now.

Hm. The Pokemon didn't seem to have noticed her yet... Oh, he couldn't resist.
"Boo!" she called a little loudly, hoping to startle the Pokemon. However, to show it was all in fun, he started laughing lightly, and continued, "Sorry, sorry. It just looked too fun~"

The Chikorita had jumped a good three feet in the air, quite literally. Turning around, he blinked in surprise at the caller and then laughed lightly seeing that it was just a game. The Togepi who had managed to catch up only because the Chikorita had been started seemed to clap his hands happily thanking the human for the help.

Whitney smiled at the two Pokemon as warmly as he could. "So, what're you playing~?" he asked, sweetly. Maybe if he played with them for a few minutes, they'd be willing to sign the rest of their lives away to him. After all, that's how Pokemon seemed to work, eh?

The Chikorita seemed to smile up at the man now and sweat dropped. He was slightly embarrassed that the human had startled him so bad... oh well. The Togepi seemed to stop and blink before looking towards Whitney as well and waving. "Priiiiiiiiiiiiii-toge!" was the call from the Togepi more or less stating that they were playing a very fun game of tag.

While Whitney honestly couldn't understand what the Togepi had said, she concluded that, seeing as there was no long explanation, it was probably just tag. That's what it looked like, anyhow. "Any chance I could join you, hm?" he asked, appealing to their apparently childish natures even more.

The Chikorita seemed to look at the Togepi for a moment. The Togepi looked at the Chikorita, and after a moment, they both seemed to suddenly grin. The Chikorita moved forwards and 'tagged' Whitney before quickly moving off calling out something to the effect of 'you're it!'.

The Togepi moved--out further into the maze. This had... not been what Whitney intended when she asked to play 'tag'. Oh, well. These combat boots were not made for running, but it wasn't so bad with the grass beneath his feet, and since it's still definitely November because that's when this thread was started, it wasn't too warm out despite her long sleeves, either. The narrator has been emboldened in their use of the fourth was after having been told they wield it well indeed. After just a few steps, Whitney stopped and realized--well, might as well go and do it. He turned back and tagged the Chikorita, then turned back again--thus was facing as she originally had been--and ran off towards the Togepi again. This way, while going to get Togepi the Chikorita was almost certain to stay close too, which meant ~more moeny when sold~

Upon being tagged again, the Chikorita took off after Whitney and the Togepi. Meanwhile, the short legged egg pokemon was throwing his arms up in the air as he tried to flee from getting tagged. However, the Chikorita seemed to suddenly speed up rather quickly and lunged towards the Togepi before tagging him and stepping off a bit. Now tagged, the Togepi stopped a moment, turned, and started after Whitney. Such was the light game.
