A Small Reunion (SG/Mod)

By this time Nerina was near hyperventilating at the loss of her shell, this just couldn't be happening...she had been using her shell to help Muffin dig a hole in the sand earlier and a wingull swooped down and took it from her. Muffin had been startled and jumped at the wingull, startling the bird and causing it to drop the shell somewhere in the bushes not far from where'd they'd been playing. Nerina had at once took off after where she had thought the bird had dropped the shell. Jalicia sighed and hugged her Oshawott before lifting her chin up and smiling into Nerina's teary eyes,"Listen hear honey it'll be all right, we'll find it~." Nerina nodded and took a deep breath before resuming her search with Muffin sniffing around for anything that even smelled like Nerina or that bird...=3= stupid wingull...stupid birds... Jalicia smiled at Nerina and Muffin working together and searched through the bushes once again, not even noticing the strange glances she was getting from people as they went into the amusement park. Jalicia smiled and pushed her hair away from her face, shaking her head at the days turn of events, her initial plan was to take her Pokemon and have a day of fun at the fair...so far nothing had gone according to plan but that just made the day even more interesting. "Ooh! And will there be candy?" rang out a small voice. Not far off, a young brunette girl clung to the sleeve of a tall red-headed man, apparently very excited about coming to the park. She'd been bombarding him with questions for some twenty minutes now, never having been to a fair before.

The man wore an easy smile, and answered as calmly this time as all before. "I'm sure there will be." In truth, it was rather fortunate that she was asking such generic questions, or he wouldn't have had a clue. After all, he hadn't been himself since he was nearly as young as her, and that was some two decades ago. He only hoped it was still anything like he remembered. "If we're lucky, we might find some candied apples. Heh~"

Kitty blinked a bit. "How can something be candy and fruit?" Ryan's failed attempt to stifle a laugh just made the girl made. He didn't have to make fun of-.. huh? Ryan started to reply, but something else caught Kitty's attention first. "SO CUTE!" she cried, rushing suddenly toward the Oshawott.

"Hey!" Ryan double-took a bit before tailing the girl, stopping her a few yards from the woman and her Pokemon. "You know better..." he sighed. Of course, as often as some Pokemon caught her attention, apparently she didn't... Still, the moment someone spoke to her she'd usually run right back, so Ryan was grateful for that at least. Kitty pouted a bit at this, but upon noticing the woman did shrink back against him a bit. As Ryan fully realized they seemed to be searching he offered, "Er.. Excuse us. Did you lose something?"

She's near frantic and we've all scoured about every inch of the bushes the darn bird dropped the shell."she explained without even looking up, her white hair falling over her face as she searched the bushes once again; it had to be around here somewhere... Nerina saw the little girl and blinked, did she....no she had to find her shell! Looking around with an almost fearful expression on her face as she almost attacked the bushes. Muffin saw the people and looked up before seeming to realize... PEOPLE!!!!! Running over to the little girl, the Lillipup glomped her and started to lick her face, the shell completely forgotten about for now. Wagging her tail happily, Muffin was oblivious to the others that were still searching for the shell...she knew there was something she was forgetting but but people were here!!!! "PUPPY!" Kitty (somewhat ironically) cried, erupting into a fit of giggles as she pretended to fight off the Lillipup, though of course she had no actual desire for it to stop. As such, she barely heard much less remembered the dilemma with the poor distraught little Oshawott. Ryan just smiled and shook his head and let her play.

"Sure, I'll see what I can do," he shrugged, then moved down a bit to search another part of the brush. How did a bird get ahold of an Oshawott's shell anyway? Wasn't that like a part of it? Hm.. Well, he knew they could throw them and stuff, but... He didn't ever see Marowak losing their bones.. ...And didn't Farfetch'd die if they went too long without their lee-... Ohshit. His searching picked up a bit as a new sense of urgency hit. He certainly hoped this wasn't similar! Of course.. The trainer seemed calm enough, and any decent trainer would know something like that about their Pokemon, right? Yeah, it was probably fine.. "Are you sure it landed here?" he asked. She'd said they'd searched almost all of it. Maybe it just got overlooked, but could it have bounced off somewhere else, perhaps?

Finally Muffin calmed down enough to stop running and put her front paws on Kitty's leg, wagging her tail rapidly while looking up at the girl with big round eyes. Jalicia nodded and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear,"Well this is where Muffin smelled the bird so the shell can't be too far off...now let's see here, I've looked darn near everywhere but...now what do we have here~?" she replied before spotting something that glinted in the sunlight. Reaching for it, Jalicia took the object out of the bushes and smiled as she recognized Nerina's shell,"Well lookee there. Nerina~ I found it for ya honey~" Nerina looked over from the bush she was searching in and uttered a cry of delight before running over to Jalica and glomping her in her excitement to get the shell. Putting the shell back in it's rightful place, Nerina sighed in relief before hugging Jalicia tightly around her neck in obvious joy. Jalicia laughed at Nerina's excitement and hugged the Oshawott back,"Now you're welcome honey~ just be careful next time ya hear?"she laughed before looking over at the man who had helped her look with the thought to thank him for helping. When she saw him her eyes grew round and she felt a blush rise to her cheeks, clearing her throat she looked away, her white hair hiding her face,"Thank you for helping me out there darling~" she said in a rather quiet voice before shaking her head slightly and looking back at him. Gosh he was tall and handsome to boot...well now~ this was a pleasant surprise now wasn't it? "So where were you and the little angel going before you so kindly helped little 'ol me out?"she asked in a teasing voice, winking at the man while still holding Nerina with one arm. Hm? Ah good, she'd found it. Upon her confirmation, Ryan just smiled and started making his way back toward Kitty, only to be caught off-guard when the woman began speaking to him. "Ah. Yer welcome," he'd almost mumbled. It wasn't like he really did anything, but... When she went on, though, he felt himself flush a little at her tone. And 'little ol' me'? Well she was a southern belle, wasn't she? Heh. Smiling gently, he answered calmly, "Just the park here. She's never been, and we were in the area, so..." Glancing over to Kitty and back to the woman, the color in his cheeks rose a bit more as he somewhat hesitantly added, "Heh. My Skitty seems to've taken quite a liking to yer Lillipup. ...Would you maybe like to come with us for a bit?"

And indeed, Kitty didn't really seem to hear the adults talking at all, being far too busy petting the ball of fluff to pay attention to such trivial things. "Who'sa good puppeh!" she exclaimed, ruffling the Lillipup's fur and hugging her with similar dotings every fifteen seconds. To onlookers, this may have seemed excessive, but in truth she thought she was doing pretty good to fight off the urge to make it every five instead. "Yer just da cutest puppeh EVAR<3 Yes you are!"

I was actually just headed over there myself, thought I'd let my Pokemon have some fun when we ran into that darn'd bird,"she replied, half-laughing as she remembered the bird taking off with Nerina's shell...well~ at least Muffin had stopped it~. When the man started talking again, Jalicia looked over at the little girl and the Lillipup and laughed lightly,"Now don't you worry about that darlin'~, Muffin over there is eating it all up, that little one loves people of any sort. Not a very good guard dog that one, but hey~ she's a real sweetheart and that's what counts~. But sure~ I'll be more than happy to come along with you and 'Skitty'. That's an adorable nickname for your daughter~ did you come up with that yourself?" Muffin was indeed enjoying the attention she was receiving and would bark and wag her tail every time Kitty hugged her, licking the young girl's face every time she was within reach. This person thought she was cute! At that point, Muffin wanted to stay with Kitty forever and get all the love and pets she was getting, in fact, the little Lillipup was so happy that her tail couldn't wag fast enough and her entire body seemed to shake to show her delight. Ryan's jaw dropped a bit, a small stuttering noise somehow making its way out before his voice stopped working for a few moments. ..What?? Somewhere in his mind he understood it was a perfectly normal assumption, but.. Finding the ability to speak again, he spat out with some urgency, "No, I ne-.." ...Never what? Never been married hardly meant he couldn't have kids. When Ryan thought about it, he was actually extremely grateful for whatever luck it was by that he didn't. (At least that he knew of.. ...God he HOPED he would've been told..) And... Actually, back in the days when he was.. taking the least precautions? ..Yeah, any kid from that would've been older than Kitty by now. ...God, was he that old?

Suddenly much calmer but now blushing furiously, Ryan finally managed, "I have no wife 'r kids. She's my little sister.." He did very much feel the need to add that first bit, hoping that would be a little more subtle than 'oh by the way I'm single'. Not that he was just dying for a date or anything, but... Well, she was very pretty and seemed nice, and he didn't see why hanging out with them in the park couldn't be a casual date of sorts.. Heh. "..And kinda," he added upon realizing he'd somewhat ignored the other bit. After all, he hadn't come up with the Kitty it was based on, but nyeh. "She'll answer ta any cat name, I think.. Right, Kitten?" he called.

"Huh??" Kitty bolted to attention as if pulled out of a daze. "Wha'dya say?" She continued to pet the pup idly, though her attention had shifted fully. It wasn't time to go already, was it? :<

Ryan grinned back at the woman. "Told ya." He laughed lightly.

When the conversation turned to the girl, Jalicia was almost relieved well~ at least that meant he was free right~ that was something~. Seeing that Kitty did respond to any cat name, Jalicia laughed softly, eyes full of delight,"Well now~ isn't that something? That's just the most adorable thing I've ever seen~,"she replied before turning to Kitty,"Well honey~ how would you like to go to the fair with Muffin, Nerina and I along with your big brother? I'm sure Muffin enjoys the attention~. Lord knows she can't get enough attention, especially from a lil' angel like you~." Muffin realized that the girl was distracted and tried to reclaim her attention. People were supposed to pay attention to her D8 but why did the little person stop speaking to her DDDD8 she was hugging her earlier and and D8. Licking Kitty's cheek and barking Muffin was trying everything in her power to get the girl's attention focused on her once again. Nerina was listening to Jalicia and Ryan talk when she realized that her blue ribbon was crooked o3o wait....had it been that way the whole time Dx? Not wanting to think about how long the ribbon had looked that way, Nerina quickly adjusted the ribbon tied in a bow around her neck and sighed. Kitty's eyes grew wide as the woman spoke. "You mean... I can go ta the fair AND still play with Muffin!?" When Ryan nodded, she let out a squeal of delight and hugged the Lillipup again. After a moment, she jumped up as a spark of genius hit. "OOH! Could MY Pokemon play with us too!?"

Ryan could help but laugh. "I don't see why not." There were wild Pokemon in and around the park, already, right? And this woman seemed to be taking hers in, so Ryan assumed it would be fine. At any rate, they could always recall them if they were wrong.

Squealing again, Kitty pulled off her blindingly pink backpack and retrieved three PokeBalls, losing their contents before putting the balls back and the backpack back on. In a few bright flashes, a Whimsicott, Shiny Emolga, and Drifloon had appeared. "We're all gonna have fun at the fair!" she announced, then picked up Muffin and continued to pet and snuggle her. Ryan flinched a bit at this- he must have told her a hundred times just in these few months not to pick up a Pokemon without asking- but as Muffin seemed to be staying quite calm about and even enjoying it Ryan quickly calmed as well, just letting out a small sigh.

As to the other Pokemon, Momo found herself suddenly quite jealous of Muffin, and clung to Kitty's head in hopes of getting some attention as well. Floon leered at the idea of an amusement park, but then realized just how dangerous some rides were. ...This could be advantageous. |3 Finally, Sage just blinked and looked around a bit before noticing Nerina. D: What? With all the attention the Lillipup was getting, that poor Oshawott MUST be lonely! Putting on a sweet smile, the Whimsicott all but floated over to the little otter, waving a friendly hello.

Ryan, who had just been watching this all unfold, turned his attention back to the young woman. "Ladies first~" he offered both her and Kitty.

Covering her mouth to try and keep from laughing at the little girl's obvious delight she shook her head as Kitty picked up Muffin and cuddled her,"Oh Lord....I'm never going to get that Lillipup to leave that girl after today..."she laughed as she continued to watch Kitty and her Pokemon. Muffin was a little surprised to be picked up but she immediately calmed and seemed to enjoy it even more than being hugged on the ground. She was getting loves . Licking Kitty's face as she was snuggled, Muffin was obviously pleased and didn't look like she was going to be ready to be let down anytime soon. In fact, the Lillipup was rather content where she was and wouldn't mind remaining like this all day~ ^_^ who needed to walk when you had hugs and cuddles? Nerina was trying not to laugh at Muffin's surprised expression at being picked up when Sage came over to her. Blinking, a little in surprise, the Oshawott waved hi back and then tilted her head to the side. Hmmm.....something was missing but what o3o ohhey~! Smiling, she brought removed the emerald ribbon she had tied around her shell....so that was why she had been so frantic to find the missing shell...and, standing on her tiptoes tied the ribbon gently around Sage's neck. <"There, now you're all pretty!">she said in a kind, cheerful voice,<"Ummm if you want to see yourself I think Jalicia has a mirror...normally there's mirrors everywhere back home but hey~ this'll be a fun day~."> Jalicia laughed as she watched Nerina tie a ribbon around the Whimsicott's neck before she heard Ryan speak again. Looking back at the man she smiled, color returning to her cheeks as he motioned for her to lead the way,"Why thankya honey~ you're a gentleman aintcha~?"she replied before going ahead of Ryan, knowing that Nerina would follow suit shortly before looking at Kitty,"So darlin'~ what woulda like to do first~?" Nerina saw that Jalicia was leaving and her eyes grew wide with delight; they were actually going! Torn between leaving Sage and following Jalicia, the Oshawott finally took Sage by her hand and started to lead her rather impatiently after Jalicia much like a little kid would. <"Come on~! We're finally leaving~!">she said in an excited voice, more or less dragging the Whimsicott in her hurry to catch up to Jalicia. [/scrolly]	[atrb=style,width:195;border:0 black none;]

Once she got over her surprise, Sage admired the ribbon a moment before beginning to answer. Before she could, however, she suddenly found herself being dragged along. .3.; Oh okay then.. Heh.

In the meantime, Ryan simply followed the girls, while Kitty blinked a bit in surprise. It was up to her? At the same time, she found herself shying away a bit. Permission to play with a puppy was one thing, but just talking to her... Well.. Ryan was here, right? He seemed to think the woman was okay, and she did seem nice enough letting her play with Muffin, and Ryan would protect her if she ended up being not-nice after all, so.. All right.. "Uhh...." The girl blanked. "I don't really know what they have..." she answered, quite a bit sadder than this really should have made her. She hoped she wouldn't disappoint them if they wanted her to choose...

Ryan was quick to comfort her, though. "It's all right. We'll just look around and you can tell us the first thing you see that you like." Kitty perked up a bit then, readily agreeing to this. In the meantime, Ryan debated continuing conversation with their new companion, but in the end decided against it unless she started it. It was nice to see Kitty trying to talk to someone, even if it was an optimum situation. Atypical or not, even minuscule progress was still progress. Once they came to the gate, though, he realized he needed to after all, at least for a moment. "Did you have admission already?" Smiling at the woman, he added, "If you didn't, I'd like to pay for yours too, if you wouldn't mind~"

Not even when I was your age. Ya see~ I had quite a few brothers and sisters so my Mom and Dad didn't have much. In fact~ I do believe my brother is around your age~." she said in a cheerful voice before standing up again and continuing on until they reached the gate. Jalicia had been about to try and find her wallet in the near bottomless pit that was her purse when Ryan offered to pay for her admission as well. Surprised to say the least, Jalicia looked at the man for a moment before finally realizing she was staring at him and blushed,"Oh...thank you~" she said in a rather quiet voice before seeming to recover from her surprise and smiling back at Ryan. Nerina finally caught up with Jalicia when she realized that she had been dragging Sage all along. The Oshawott's face blushed a nearly scarlet color and she looked at the ground looking for all the world like a kid who knew she was about to get in trouble. Muffin was clearly enjoying herself and didn't seem to notice anyone else except for Kitty. she was getting luffs and pets and o3o the world looked so different from here. D8 but why was little person sad D8 no she must be happy too D8! Licking Kitty's cheek, Muffin barked happily, trying to get her to cheer up when the big giant man seemed to say something to her. yay~ giant man was nice! Huh? A brother her age... Suddenly it hit Kitty, and a smile lit her face as she thought she recognized the woman. At least... She was pretty sure the pictures in Dedrick's house looked about like her, and Kitty did remember his sister being... ABOUT this age (though Kitty admittedly wasn't usually too good at guessing grown-up ages) and having dark skin and white hair. Her name... was Jalisa, right? Ah, well.. She didn't want to have to be embarrassed if she'd gotten it wrong- or was wrong about who the woman was- so she just wouldn't say anything. Rather, she'd just happily agreed and gone along.

Ryan just smiled at their companion. "O' course~" he chimed lightly after getting their tickets. "What kinda man invites a woman out an' doesn't pay?" He chuckled softly, then, reaching out to take one of Kitty's hands before realizing she was still holding Muffin. With a sudden terrible idea, Ryan blushed lightly- about half real and half played-up- and turned to the lady at his other side, staring at the ground a little sad and rejected. "Ah-.. It seems the Kitten's paws are full... but I'm scared t'walk around such a big place alone.." His eyes moved back up with an almost pathetic smile as he held out a hand. "Would you hold my hand instead?" If someone didn't shoot him for a pickup line that bad he'd be surprised, but hey.

Meanwhile, Sage just sweatdropped at Nerina's sudden spasm, assuring her it was fine. Otherwise, all the Pokemon just seemed to follow uneventfully.

Turning to look at him with a rather amused expression on her face, she laughed, "Well now~, ain't you something else?" she said in a light teasing voice before putting her hand on her hip, eyes dancing with obvious mirth, "Are you sure you didn't just want to hold my hand~? All ya had to do was ask darlin'~." Taking his hand, Jalicia looked down at Kitty and smiled, "So Kitten~ where would you like to go first?" she asked in a kind voice, a teasing glint in her eye as she glanced at Ryan,"How about some kiddy rides for you and your big brother hmm~? I think he'd be too scared to go on any of the big roller coasters if he's scared to walk by his lonesome~."she said, winking at Kitty before laughing lightly. Nerina perked up when Sage made it clear that everything was all right and started looking around for any stores that had sparkly stuff. =3 Maybe she could find more sparkly ribbons o3o yes that would be good...but then she'd have to carry them back right hmm...well Jalicia had a purse o3o that'd work too. The Oshawott was so lost in thought that she nearly bumped into Jalicia and would have done so if the woman hadn't stopped to take Ryan's hand. Looking up, Nerina's face turned scarlet as she realized what she'd almost done and quickly shook her head before realizing that...Jalicia was holding the man's hand. o3o well this was something now wasn't it~ ^_^. Backing up so that she was near Sage again, Nerina hummed a happy tune, wondering what the day would bring next. Muffin looked confused when the big man said that Kitten's paws were full. Wait there was a cat where cat!? Looking around for said cat, Muffin nearly jumped out of Kitty's arms in her excitement when she remembered the girl's name. >3<; that meant there was no cat was there...oh well~ hugs were better then chasing cats anyway~ ^_^. Licking Kitty's cheek, Muffin barked once, obviously happy and snuggled against Kitty, wanting more hugs and cuddles; after all, you could never have too much attention =3. Ryan just grinned a bit when the woman called him out. "Well yeah, but I was tryin' ta be cute.." he somewhat-sighed, though not in a negative way. He wasn't really sure if it had worked or not, but whether from charm or pity she'd gone along with it, at any rate, so this was fine.

Kitty held back a small giggle when Jae took Ryan's hand. Ryan's got a girlfriend~ she sang in her head, but before she could fully consider teasing him aloud, Jae was asking her a question. "Um..." She started to look around when the older woman suggested some kiddie rides, teasing big brother in the process, and making Kitty giggle again.

Big brother was less amused. He leered half-heartedly for a few seconds before shrugging, seeming a little too nonchalant. "Well there're a lot o' people.. But I'll be okay on the rides.." A small smirk broke out. "To prove it, why don' we find a fun kiddie ride for her while you an' I go through the haunted house?" Not that this wouldn't serve a bit more purpose than just proving he wasn't a coward.. Heh.

While most of the Pokemon just tagged along, Floon suddenly perked a bit. Haunted house...? Hmmm...

Upon hearing Ryan mention a haunted house, Jalicia bit her lip to keep from saying anything more that would make the situation worse. She wanted to say no to the suggestion but then again...she had basically called him a coward. Jalicia mentally kicked herself for not watching what she'd been saying in the first place and feigned a smile...why did she always get herself into these sort of things? "Just fine with me~."Jalicia replied rather easily even though her stomach was already twisting itself in knots at the thought of the haunted house...but...she deserved it for teasing the man so much in the first place. Ryan smiled a little too innocently. "A'ight then, let's go~" Spotting a directory of sorts, Ryan found the closest haunted house style ride and the nearest ride Kitty could go on to it- a small mini-coaster. It wasn't too far, and the man led the way to the latter. As he got Kitty in the short line, he instructed, "Stay with the Pokemon, now, a'ight? If you get done before we do, just wait right here an' we'll be back soon. And don' talk ta anyone you shouldn't, 'kay?"

"Mmkay~" Kitty readily agreed, too excited about her first fair ride to really give it much thought. The coaster looked just like a big pretty Dragonair, and all the other kids seemed to be having fun. Even knowing the Pokemon should protect her, Ryan found himself reluctant to walk away. ...Mm. She'd be fine. Sage was very protective, and the others weren't exactly trying to hurt her (that he knew), and they'd only be gone a few minutes.. Of course, Kitty didn't even really notice him leaving.

Then leading Jae over to the haunted ride a few attractions down, Ryan let himself ease back into a gentle grin. "Sure yer still brave enough?" he teased a bit. Only two boys stood in line before them, so the wait wouldn't be long. Even as he finished asking, one of the cars started to pull in. The next to come out would be theirs. From inside, a scream was heard, though whether it was part of the attraction or a fairgoer they couldn't know.

As it was Jalcia's stomach felt so knotted up she thought she was going to be sick...but it was just nerves...nothing to be worried about. Jalicia was so busy trying to calm down that she didn't realize that they were already at the haunted house until Ryan spoke to her. Looking up at him, Jalicia forced a smile and nodded,"Of course 'hun~ dontcha worry about me,"she replied before she heard the scream and had to bite her tongue to keep from uttering a frightened squeak herself...she was certainly not looking forward to whatever had caused that scream... It was all Ryan could do not to smirk, instead keeping his rather kinder smile. "Well, we're next." As they got in the car, Ryan drew a deep breath. Was the ride still going to be unnerving to him? Probably, though not so much as most given the very real carnage he'd seen in his life. However, there was a fact little known among the world's female population: haunted houses were actually invented for the primary purpose of making guys look manly and getting girls to cling to them. When viewed in this perspective, anything that might startle him wouldn't seem half so bad. Heh..~ The doors before them opened, and once the car passed through closed with a loud bang to leave them in pitch darkness. An eerie wind-like sound ran low through the room, and ahead a small light wavered just bright enough to draw attention but not enough to light more than a few feet around itself. Just before they reached it, the car made a rather sharp turn and a new light flashed on to only just reveal the face of a monstrous creature while a screeching cry sounded before everything fell black again.
