Things That go Bump (Mod, Open)

[KARP KARP!]

It was late, past midnight as Ty wandered through the abandoned barracks. After getting food for himself and his team, he was flat broke. But the blond thief refused to sleep outside again. Sure, he'd heard rumors of wild Pokemon running about, but it was a chance he was willing to take. Besides, Blazer, Ty's first and most loyal Pokemon, was right by his side. The Arcanine was willing to do anything for his master. And he knew Ty would do the same.

Blazer stayed alert, knowing they weren't alone. When Ty suddenly stopped and curled up on the ground, he lay beside him, something he'd done since their first day together, when he was just a little Growlithe. Soon, Ty was fast asleep, snoring lightly. Not Blazer. The Arcanine was ever alert, watching out for his master, trainer, and best friend. His eyes remained open, ears listening, nose taking in every scent. Nothing would get past him.

Unless...hours later, the fire typed Pokemon was asleep, his snoring harmonizing nicely with that of his master. They'd all had a rough time lately, and it showed. Maybe things would start to look up soon.

[Jay]

Most of the pokemon in the area were asleep. Those that were not moved quietly. Two Pichu, pale in form, appeared to be walking rather sleepily arm in arm with one another. Following them, a rather ominous Duskull appeared to be watching the younglings. However, they didn't seem to notice him.

[KARP KARP!]

The slight sound of movement, mixed with a new smell, getting closer, made Blazer stir a little. He sat up, resuming his watch while his master was still dead to the world.

"Arrrrr...." He growled, seeing the Duskull and the two Pichu. Sure, the Arcanine was huge, but he just didn't realize exactly how big he was. Ty awoke, rubbing his eyes. "Huh?" Then, in the darkness, he could see the figures of the two Pichu and the ghost pokemon.

[Jay]

The sounds of the Arcanine caused the Pichu twins to jump and look around startled. Upon seeing the large fire dog, they both grabbed each other and whimpered a few quiet words of fear. The Duskull just looked rather darkly back at Blazer without much of any sort of reaction.

[KARP KARP!]

Ty looked from the Pichu twins to the Duskull, as did Blazer. Both could tell the Pichu were terrified, but the Duskull didn't seem to care. And Blazer took that as a threat. His focus turned to the Duskull.

Ty, though still half-asleep, stood to his feet, recognizing Blazer's actions. He thought a moment. The Pichu seemed scared out of their wits. He didn't have the heart to go after either of the twins. They were adorable, afraid, and from the looks of it, he wouldn't dare try to separate the pair.

Arcanine took one step toward the Duskull, making his challenge.

"Looks like we're on the same page, Ol' Boy," Ty said with a slight gleam in his eye.

[Jay]

The Duskull stared at the Arcanine and then made a motion to push the Pichu twins a little to the side to keep them out of this battle. Both small electric types quickly understood the motion and took off a ways away to more or less hide in a corner. After another moment, the Duskull formed a Confuse Ray and shot it at Blazer.

[KARP KARP!]

That...may have leveled the playing field a good bit. Or even tipped the odds against Ty. Neither was prepared for the Confuse Ray, and Blazer suffered the effects as a result.

Ty rubbed his eyes, then got serious. For him, the start of a battle worked better than the strongest coffee. "Alright, Blaze. We got this. Use Flamethrower."

"Ar?" Blazer tried to shake it off, opening his mouth and releasing a stream of fire that lit up the area.

[Jay]

The ghost pokemon was hit by the flames and seemed to cringe a good deal before shaking his form out. Retaliating with a Payback, the Duskull rushed forwards making to hit Blazer with the dark retribution move. Meanwhile, the Pichu continued to whimper a little in their corner but made no moves to enter the battle.

[KARP KARP!]

"Blazer! It's coming in fast, dodge!"

But Blazer was still confused, by the time he attempted to dodge, contact had been made. He'd been knocked down by the force of the attack, but managed to find his way back to his feet again.

"Man, that thing packs a punch," Ty muttered. "Alright, Blazer, we still got this. Bite!" Blazer charged his foe, fangs bared. And smacked right into the wall in his confusion.

[Jay]

The Duskull watched the confusion take fold and smirked a little to himself before forming a Charge Beam and shooting it at the dog. Despite the fact that he seemed to be winning... or at least to the Pichu who were watching in the corner.... the Duskull didn't seem to show any sort of emotion towards this.

[KARP KARP!]

"Blazer, Dodge this one!" Ty said, knowing that as of now, they were losing. Blazer shook his head, shaking it off, then jumped out of the way just in the nick of time.

"Try a bite again," Ty commanded. Blazer let out a howl, then rushed at the Duskull, fangs bared. This time it was almost as if he knew what he was doing.

[Jay]

The Bite, super effective in nature given that the Duskull was a ghost type, caused the large ghost to cringe in bain and fall back for a moment stunned. Slowly forcing his form back up, the Duskull managed to shake off the bulk of the pain. However, he knew he couldn't take that sort of damage again. Forming another Charge Beam, the Duskull shot it off again.

[KARP KARP!]

The Arcanine howled in pain, cringing at the impact of the Charge Beam. Momentarily stunned, he stepped forward, panting, but this dog still had some bite in him.

This Duskull had more fight in it than Ty'd anticipated. But that made Ty want it that much more.

"Alright, Blazer. Just a little more. Flame Wheel," Ty encouraged, letting the Arcanine know just how good a job he was doing, and how much it was appreciated. Ty made it a point to do that, no matter who was battling, or what kind of fight it was.

Gathering up his energy, Blazer charged the ghost Pokemon, the large canine's body now cloaked in fire.

[Jay]

The sheer size and magnitude of the Flamewheel made the Duskull's single eye grow large. They could set this entire building on fire if they weren't careful! This instant worry over the barracks rather than himself left the Duskull completely open to the attack, and in another moment, he was sent flying back. Hitting a wall and skunking forwards for a few seconds, the injured Duskull tried to force himself to rise. After doing so, he formed another Charge Beam (though admittedly weaker than it had been before).

[KARP KARP!]

Ty, in both his exhaustion and excitement, may have forgotten they were inside. But luckily, nothing caught on fire. He'd just have to be more careful. Though if Ty had his wish, this wouldn't last too much longer.

"Thunder Fang!" Blazer ran forward, missing a step or two when the weak Charge Beam hit him. He continued his attack, although not as full as before. But Blazer refused to give in. Ty needed him to pull through.

[Jay]

The Thunder Fang bit into the Duskull and electrocuted him. The red eye that shifted between the ghost slowly faded backwards as he fainted. The Pichu twins had started whimpering a little more than before in the corner as the watched.

[KARP KARP!]

When the ghost Pokemon fell, Ty wiped the sweat from his forehead. Blazer was panting, exhausted from the battle. And a heck of a battle it was. Ty pulled out a Pokeball, tossing it at the Duskull to seal the deal. Both Pokemon and Trainer looked on hopefully. Ty looked at Blazer, knowing the Arcanine was worn out. Both had paid the price for underestimating such a small Pokemon.

[Jay]

The pokeball enclosed itself around the Duskull and hit the ground before shaking a few seconds and finally ringing in capture.

Personality: This Duskull is a rather stoic creature for the most part. He doesn't seem to show any sort of emotion even while battling. However, he does have a softer side especially towards younger pokemon and likes to watch after them as a result. He dislikes the sun and will often hide under things when there is light in the area.


The Pichu in the corner looked at one another and exchanged quiet whimpers to each other looking from where their friend had gone and then back to one another all but like mirrors. However, they were far too scared at that point to try and attack the human. The first was starting to find himself irritated that he was so scared but couldn't get past it in the end of it all. The second simply looked away after a moment and whimpered quietly to herself. Farther off, a door could be heard opening and closing again. A Litwick moved along on the ground and then on the floor as he entered the barracks with his ominous flame glowing.

[KARP KARP!]

Ty picked up the Pokeball and put it on his belt, then realizing what he'd done. That Duskull was merely a friend to the Pichu. But he didn't have much time to debate on what to do about them, because then, the room was lit by an ominous light. He called Blazer back to his Pokeball, but had his hand on Zang's, just in case things got ugly.

The Litwick seemed to stare at the boy with a rather hard focused stare. The Pichu seemed to whimper to each other and turned before quickly running to try and get away. Forming a Shadow Ball, the Litwick shot it at the boy.
