Return of the Chef (Jay/Castle)

[KARP KARP!]

Joel listened, starting to cry, himself. After all, he'd worked for this family thirteen years; they were practically his own family by now. In fact, he considered them his own, even if he was just their cook.

The big man pulled Felis into a firm hug as tears stained his own face. He couldn't think of anything to say, so he just clung to his boss and cried.

For the first time in two years, he'd allow himself to get it all out then and there. He'd restrained against crying in front of Rosa or around others... Even for Elayne he'd tried to hold back all the emotions that had fought their way to the surface, yet there it was. Felis found himself having a 'good' cry finally and simply sat there crying for a good fifteen minutes before finally cooling outwardly despite how hard he wanted to simply continue to cry inwardly. "I....I found Rosa though...... but then I ... caught a glimpse of big brother just leaving her there alone... and and... he was just walking away like.....it didn't matter or something...I...." he was fighting and failing to get a hold of himself. Joel didn't need fifteen minutes to cry, in fact he was better and good to go after five. Smiling, he gave a nod at the comment about Rosa; that was good. Though, she was probably too young to even remember him.

At the comment on Lance, Joel didn't quite scowl, though his face did look like he'd just bitten into a rotten banana, peel and all. "I'm sorry to hear that. I wish I could've been here for you. You needed this talk long before now, I can tell..."

"And oddly enough... a week before... Ferd came home too.... and a lot happened...." he sighed a bit shaking his blond curls ever so slightly. "I didn't even know he was alive, but.... apparently someone kidnapped him and then took him from the castle... he ended up being taken care of by some people....and I didn't even know till now..." he sighed a bit looking at Joel and managing something of a smile. "I... just had a hard bit of time..." he chuckled slowly before shaking his head. "But things have been looking up. I've been working out the spring festival again, and people seem to be relaxing... I know it won't change a lot, but maybe it's what people need...." He had gained more control over himself and was able to talk rather calmly now. [/scrolly]

Joel listened carefully, nodding in agreement where necessary. "Sometimes all ya need is a little fun to ease your mind. Which reminds me, the best thing to make someone feel better is some of my special Slowpoketail Candy. But..."

The man paused, then got an idea. "I don't have a Slowpoke right now..." The hefty man scratched his head, then began toying with his mustache as he thought.

"What happened to your slowpoke?" he asked after a moment unsure of maybe it had simply grown old and died or if maybe Joel had released it er....? [/scrolly]

"....Stella..." he whispered the Slowpoke's name quietly. "I don't know. I'd had her as long as I can remember. Took her with me when I left. Yeah, she was old, up there in years. But, I woke up one morning, and...she was gone. Her Pokeball was there, but...I just don't know..."

The cook tried his hardest not to cry. "That was shortly after moving in with my sister....I miss Stella..."

Patting the cook, the blond frowned a bit. "I'm... sure she's happy wherever she is," he hummed rather gently looking at Joel with a calm expression. [/scrolly]

"I know, but...she never, ever left my side...you remember Stella? When you were little you used to chew on her tail." He sighed, shaking his head. Stella was just a big sweetheart...Maybe my sister sold her for drugs. I wouldn't put it past her..."

After that, he always found himself chasing after the Slowpoke of the kitchen (which wasn't really hard at all seeing as Stella hadn't moved much, anyways) in order to chew on her tail and taste the sweet liquid. "It was... always pretty tasty, I'd have to admit," he managed to smile a bit but then sighed outwards and shook his head slowly. "I hope..." he bit his lip not knowing how to hope that the Slowpoke was alright somewhere at that point. [/scrolly]

Joel had to chuckle at that memory. Felis was always chewing on Stella's tail, and it was to this day, a rather funny image. "That substance is a key ingredient in a lot of my recipes. So, until I find another one, my cooking won't exactly be the same. I need to find a Slowpoke, but of course it'll be no Stella."

"I want to say they've been seen around the Logging Camp before," he stated looking at Joel somewhat akin to a child trying to find the word to appease an older sibling or maybe an adult. "As well as Era Castle...." he mumbled a bit at that part. [/scrolly]

Joel gave a nod, thinking deeply. "The Logging Camp would probably be a better bet," he answered. "I will search for one later; after dinner is squared away. "

At this, the chef gave a smile. "It's my first night back, so...What do you want for dinner?" he asked. "Whatever you want, I'll cook it up for you."

"Ah! Make some of your yummy lasagna!" he grinned suddenly remembering the rather tasty dish. He wasn't sure if they had all the ingredients to make it, but heck, if he didn't, he'd just rush over to Evergreen and pick some up fast as possible This was going to be great! His mood had lifted rather greatly at this, and Felis found himself smiling a bit despite his previous stressed demeanor. [/scrolly]
