Another shiver ran up Xavier's spine as he trudged deeper into the Den of Illusions, completely unaware of doing so. The man thought he was still in Wayward Forest, to be perfectly honest, heading towards Boreal Port to check out which types of fish were selling well at the current time. He hadn't ever thought of selling the ones he caught, usually just cooking them to eat, but Xavier was fairly skilled at the fine art of fishing; he may as well put it to good use.
However, it probably wasn't the greatest idea to walk the distance to the Port instead of arriving by boat. Xavier thought he could save a few Pen by huffing it, so instead of a ferry ticket he invested in a warm set of clothes; the man was bundled up in black ski pants and a brown jacket/hoodie, the hood of which was fluffy and a darker shade of brown. Complete with a pair of ski goggles which were tinted orange, Xavier was well protected from the cold, and hadn't been bothered in the Forest... but ever since crossing into the Den of Illusions, the temperature seemed to drop quite a few degrees.
Luckily, Xavier had Poke'mon to aid him, and just the right one for scenarios like these. If someone spied the man, they would be able to see a large bulge in the man's jacket, on his chest. Fear not, it wasn't an abnormality; just Buddy the Magby, keeping Xavier cozy. Xavier was carrying him in his jacket like a pouch, the small Poke'mon's Flame Body ability working wonders to keep him warm. He smiled down at the Magby. "I hope you aren't getting crushed down there, Buddy." He said quietly, hearing the small Poke'mon yawn. He had been asleep.
He trudged onwards for ten more minutes before pausing to look around. Hadn't he seen that rock before? Xav groaned. "Am I going in circles...?" He asked to the air. The air didn't reply, sadly. Shaking his head, Xavier hopped up onto the rocks, turning in a circle to observe the area. Where was he...? [/blockquote]

Even this cold, however, didn't seem to deter her from wearing a dress. She just substituted her normal frilliness for a thicker dress beneath her coat as well as some thick stockings. Back to the actual being in the cold atmosphere rather than the clothing that such atmosphere had caused her to wear: she had heard that this particular part of the woods (and she hoped she'd made it to the right part of the woods) was haunted. Well, haunting meant ghosts and often Ghost-type Pokemon and she did love that type of Pokemon...
However, she hadn't heard anything particular about what kind of ghosts... so she wasn't quite as excited to be here. When her Drifblim finally lowered her to the ground, she immediately returned him. With him being part Flying, she worried that the cold would affect him negatively and besides... the wind might carry him away, which would be a very horrible situation. She quickly released a Sableye to keep her company, however, and it didn't take long for said Pokemon to realize someone else was in the area. The albino creature quickly made her way through the snow to peer at Xavier carefully. Her human simply followed a few feet behind and raised an eyebrow at the apparently lost male. He didn't seem very useful... but maybe there was something to be had. "Bonjour. I am Arcadie. What should i call you?" [/scrolly] |

The sudden voice caused Xavier to turn awkwardly, slipping from his perch on the rock to fall into the snow below. A muffled yelp could be heard from within his jacket, Buddy having been startled. Blinking, Xavier stood and peeked into his jacket, looking the Poke'mon over for any injuries, before directing his gaze upwards towards the source of the voice. Another blink. A lady? He did a full circle up on that rock and hadn't seen a thing, where had she come from...?
Dusting the snow off from his clothes, Xavier offered the lady - Arcadie, as she revealed herself to be - a gentle smile and a nod. "I'm Xavier. Where'd you come from? I didn't expect to find anyone out here..." He mused, re-adjusting his hood with a grin. Buddy poked his head out from his custom pouch, gazing at Arcadie uncertainly. He took a whiff of the air, smelling another Poke'mon nearby. He looked back up at Xavier and pointed a small finger towards Arcadie, trying to tell him so. <Someones over there~> He cried. Although Xavier couldn't understand his Poke'speech, he got a general idea of what Buddy was saying, and looked over Arcadie again.
"Are ya alone?" He inquired, taking a few steps closer to the lady. [/blockquote]

My Drifblim is back in his Pokeball at the moment so as not to get carried away again by the wind," she explained shortly. Arcadie could understand why he wasn't expecting anyone else out here. If not for the rumors, she probably wouldn't be out here... But as the Magby poked his head out, she tilted her head at his speech. At the man's question, she looked down at her Sableye and then shifted to stand behind the dual-type.
Esprit quickly looked a little panicked. She felt very awkward in this situation. "I am not alone. This is Esprit, my albino Sableye. She's shy, so she probably would prefer me not pointing her out like this, though," she commented and moved back to the side. This immediately caused the ghost to shift and hide behind her instead. She quickly clung to the girl's outermost coat, peering carefully around Arcadie to keep an eye on Xavier. [/scrolly] |

Xavier nodded in response to Arcadie's reply, it had made sense; he wouldn't want his Poke'mon to get lost in unfamiliar territory either. Just the thought of the idea caused him to wrap his arms under the bulge in his chest, making sure Buddy was still in place. Of course he would be, it would be extremely noticeable if the small Poke'mon had somehow fallen out, but Xavier couldn't ignore the small voice in his head saying 'Just in case'.
Upon sighting the albino Sableye, a wide smile crossed the man's face. "Oh shes lovely." He crooned, chuckling when the Sableye hid behind Arcadie. "I have an albino Gyarados myself, I love the color..." he stated, becoming lost in thought for a moment. Blinking, he righted himself with an awkward grin. Now was not the time, nor place for such chatter. It was positively freezing.
"I was actually heading to Boreal Port, but I think I may have mis-stepped somewhere along the way... do you know where this is?" Xav asked quietly, his eyes wandering about again/ [/blockquote]

The girl nodded interestedly at his comment of having an albino himself, but she wasn't all that impressed by the choice in Pokemon... And of course he had to have actually chosen it rather than have it come to him or anything like that. >.>
At his question, she hummed thoughtfully and then shook her head. "No, I don't really have any idea which way Boreal Port is, but if I was able to find the correct area of the forest, this is supposed to be a particularly haunted spot. That's... really the only reason I came here. I'm hoping to find some special Ghost-types. Haven't happened to see any, have you?" She sincerely hoped she wasn't in the wrong spot... calling Ficelle out now would just be crazy. Surely, either the Pokemon or herself would end up hurt and she didn't want to risk it. [/scrolly] |

A somewhat crestfallen look took over Xavier's face when Arcadie revealed she didn't know where Boreal Port was, only to be replaced by slightly widened eyes when she mentioned Ghost-type Poke'mon. Xavier hadn't seen a Ghost-type before, he just heard about them in spooky stories his mother told him as a child. They weren't very nice stories either. The thought of them made his skin crawl.
He took a wary glance around, double checking to see if anything was behind him. Now his guard was up. Wonderful. "Not that I've seen, no..." He said quietly, as if they could possibly hear him. Ghosts! Not Xav's favorite thing in the worlds. Surely they didn't exist...

Fabulous... had she come all the way out here for nothing? Arcadie quickly got an idea, however, and she smiled again. "Tell you what. If you help me find some Pokemon in this area, I'll make a point to help you to this Bori Fort or whatever you called it. Deal?" Of course, she probably could find the Ghost-types all by herself, but having an extra set of eyes couldn't be a bad thing, could it? Judging by his less-than-excited reaction to her mentioning the ghosts, though, she was sure to at least get amusement out of him. Particularly if there were Ghost-types in the area as she hoped. "Boreal Port." Xavier corrected with a smile, emphasizing the letters Arcadie mispronounced. "Sounds good to me." He added in response to her deal. Why would he say no and risk being trapped out in the middle of nowhere when he could find some Poke'mon and get outta there? Ghost Poke'mon too... ghosts, haha, how ludicrous...
Chuckling nervously, Xav cleared his throat and looked down at Buddy, whom was fixing Xavier with an amused stare, as if his nervousness about Ghost Poke'mon was silly. "Oh hush you." Xavier cooed to him, although he hadn't said anything. Reaching into one of his bags, Xavier withdrew a Poke'ball and let loose Ace, his Charmeleon. Buddy reached out to him and called a greeting, to which Ace replied with a grin and a bop on the Magby's noggin. He then looked to Xavier with a brow raised.
"Help us look for some Poke'mon, eh? I know you're good at finding things." Xavier stated, causing Ace to chuckle and nod. The lizard glanced around before spewing fire at a nearby snow-covered mound, melting it away. Xavier nodded at his progress before hopping back on his rock perch and scouting the area out.
They wouldn't find anything, he knew. Especially not ghosts. 'Ghosts! I mean really...'

Not far off, a Hoothoot called out from his place in a tree before falling silent again. It seemed as though he were warning them not to get too close to him from the tone of his calls at least. A Solosis suddenly came looking out from behind a tree and then moved back into hiding once more. Farther off, a Snover could be seen making some sort of ice sculpture. A Snorunt was watching this rather carefully and seemed to be inspecting the sculpture for herself.

Like she cared... As he called out a Charmeleon, the Sableye fidgeted. Not that she had any reason to fear him. He just looked so intimidating. Both her and her trainer looked up when they heard the Hoothoot but the girl didn't show any interest whatsoever in the bird.
Now that they were to be looking for said Pokemon, Esprit turned and started off. She sort of noticed the Solosis out of the corner of her eye, but she didn't think it was something of interest for Arcadie so she left it be. The Snover and Snorunt were still not really of interest, but upon seeing them, she turned to look at the teen. Blue eyes narrowed somewhat at the second and she reached into her purse to withdraw a little notebook. Flipping it open, she looked through it and then stopped to read. Shaking her head, she looked back at the two creatures. "Potential ghost, but it's normally colored. Kind of cute, I suppose... but not what I'm looking for." Esprit nodded at this and continued off on her way to look for Pokemon while Arcadie turned to watch what her new slave companion and his Pokemon were doing. She just shook her head slightly at his antics... but at least he was trying, she supposed. [/scrolly] |

Xavier blinked and looked back at Arcadie as she labeled the Snorunt as a 'potential ghost', peering at the small Poke'mon warily. She... looked nothing like a ghost. What did she evolve into? Glalie and... oh. Right. Xavier grinned at the woman, about to congratulate her on the find when she practically deemed the Snorunt unworthy due to normal coloring. Ace heard this and blinked at the lady, rolling his eyes before shrugging at Xavier.
Xav sighed and slid off from his perch, hopping onto the ground and approaching Arcadie, eyes on the Snorunt and Snover. "Well with some time and training it could evolve into a Ghost-type. Normal colored Poke'mon aren't a bad thing ya know." He stated, gesturing back towards Ace whom nodded coolly, arms folded. "But its up to you really, considering you're the one catching something here, ha." Xav added, rubbing the back of his neck.

The Snorunt and Snover went on working oblivious to the humans. A Seedot could be seen sitting in a tree looking down and watching as the humans walked through the area. A Noctowl sat beside the Seedot and also watched as the two passed eying them carefully as they went. Further ahead, a Misdreavus floated through a tree and then made to fly into another. A Wynaut sitting on the snow just next to the tree seemed to watch the Mistreavus.

"I didn't say it wasn't a good Pokemon. I said it's not what I'm looking for. I don't even know if it's a female and a male would be extra-useless to me. I refuse to take a Pokemon onto my team that won't fit in. Besides... if it were just a regular Pokemon I wanted, I could wait until the market had one and leave the wild ones to live their lives. They're having fun... why should I ruin that to capture a Pokemon that might feel out of place on my team?" Once done saying this, she turned and narrowed her eyes at the boy. "And, as I recall, I said I would lead you to the port if you helped me find Pokemon, not if you tried to lecture me."
Esprit fidgeted as she listened to this conversation, but her gaze continued to examine the area. She watched each of the Pokemon in turn. However, the Wynaut and Misdreavus caught her attention and she slowly walked toward the baby Pokemon. Sitting in the snow like that couldn't be comfortable for a non-Ice-type, could it? <H-hey there. What are you doing just sitting here like this?> Taking a glance at the Misdreavus as well, she gave a little wave. Arcadie watched this and sighed softly. If her Pokemon went befriending Pokemon, she couldn't well turn the creatures away... [/scrolly] |

"Oiiioii, understood." He grinned, winking at the lady. "It just sounded a tad different from my perspective, is all." He chuckled, following Esprit as she wandered off towards the Wynaut. His eye traveled further until he saw the Misdreavus, face losing its color slightly. Well. A ghost... kind-of. Ghost-type. Here. He gestured towards the Poke'mon and looked at Arcadie. "Have uh.... have one of those?" He asked, straightening up to hide any sort of fear he could be showing... NOT THAT HE WAS AFRAID. PFFFFBT.
Ace, on the other hand, had halted his movements abruptly. Suddenly he snapped his attention up into the trees, scouting the Seedot and Noctowl. Blinking, he folded his arms and gazed at them calmly, puffing a ring of smoke up towards them. It could be taken as a greeting, or showing off... or both. Who knows? [/scrolly] |

Both the Noctowl and the Seedot watched the movements of Ace and seemed a tad confused by them. After a second or two, the Noctowl waved a wing in acknowledgement back. The Seedot simply stared rather quietly. The Wynaut had been watching so intently that when the voice hit his ears, he nearly jumped. However, after this, he looked at the pokemon addressing him. <Oh hi!> he grinned. <No it's not too bad... teh tree would be better but I can't climb... oh well~> The Misdreavus, meanwhile, stopped her previous movements and looked down. <Hello> was all she stated before she fazed into a tree. Farther off, an all black Gastly could be seen floating about frowning in distaste.

As he followed after Esprit, she shook her head. "No, I don't..." she admitted, but she still didn't seem all that interested. Letting her gaze take in the surroundings, she sighed. It didn't seem as though she was having much luck... At least that's what she thought at first, having glanced right over the Gastly without thinking. After a moment, she gasped and her head snapped back. "Now that is better," she remarked and trudged through the snow toward it.
Her Sableye smiled at the Wynaut and looked up the tree. <That's... a shame. Don't you have any friends that might be able to help you?> It seemed unlikely to her that there were birds around and yet none of them were willing to help this little Pokemon get his poor rear out of the cold snow. Esprit also gave a smile to the Misdreavus before she disappeared, but had little time to say anything before she went into the tree. Turning her attention slightly toward her trainer, she blinked when she realized Arcadie was no longer near her but wandering off. This made her worry a bit, but she didn't want to seem rude by walking away from the Wynaut now... and the teen had other Pokemon, after all. That thought made the Sableye calm down a little and she just made a point to keep an eye on the girl while talking to the Psychic-type. [/scrolly] |

Xavier squeaked somewhat, taking a couple steps back and glancing around quickly. Blinking, he coughed, trying to cover up his scare, a slight red tint coming to his cheeks. Fortunately for him, the lady seemed suddenly interested in another Poke'mon and trudged off.
Xav looked in the direction of where she was walking, spying the black Ghastly with a nasty cringe. 'Oh no, its... its... the Smouldering Darkness.' He mentally stuttered, eyes locking on the Ghost-Type, recalling the horrible horror story his mother indulged him with on a Halloween night long ago. The Smouldering Darkness, a Ghost so black because it had no SOUL. It feasted upon Poke'mon and humans alike in attempts to collect their souls, but to no avail, eventually laying waste to entire villages due to its agony. But that... Xavier thought that was just a story! He never thought it was REAL.
Gulping, he watched Arcadie storm towards it with a shiver. He couldn't let her just... die! Groaning, he motioned for Ace before slowly following the girl, very reluctantly. Great. They were all going to die here. The Wynaut looked upwards towards the Misdeavous. <She's trying to figure out a way to lift me, but she's not strong enough> the small psychic finally answered back looking at the Sableye. Meanwhile, the Noctowl and Seedot simply seemed to nod in unison at the man as he wandered off. Farther along, the Gastly continued to look around worriedly not even realizing that someone was headed towards him. Oh dear oh dear oh dear where could she be?

But she stayed put, returning her full attention to the Wynaut when he spoke. <Oh,> she responded, humming thoughtfully. <Doesn't she know any Psychic attacks that could possibly lift you? She just has to be strong of mind for that... and most Ghosts are,> she suggested quietly. Perhaps... even she could lift him with moves, but she was worried she'd get distracted and drop him.
Approaching the Gastly, Arcadie's eyes glittered happily. Oh, he was simply gorgeous. Stopping a little ways off, she shuffled in her purse and produced a Pokeball. Releasing the melanistic Litwick from within, she smiled. "Look, Flameau, he's like you!" The small multi-type looked at the Gastly with surprise. He was! Walking -- or perhaps more accurately described as sashaying -- over toward him, the Litwick spoke up. <Hey!> He quickly realized, however, that the expression on the Gastly was not a pleasant one. <What's wrong...?> he added, blinking. Arcadie stood back, waiting, and it didn't even seem as though she realized Xavier had followed. [/scrolly] |
