Too Many Questions Not Enough Answers (Open)

When our innocence can no longer protect us from the harsh truth....

"MOM! I have to go! There are people in the capital that are suffering! I have to go! Please!" Those desperate words had been spoken, and though she had, in fear of more bombings that could transpire, denied her son go to the capital. However, when the news reported the day after, the mother broke down and took her son to the capital. They would go. They would help. They were Joys, after all. They were meant to help others

Jayme felt sick. So many had poured into the pokemon center that was in the Pokemon Shelter in the last day alone, and the work had been non-stop since they had come to the job being taken care of by not just Jayme and his mother but many other Joys doing their best to secure everyone. Despite this, he worked. He helped them because that was what he wanted to do. That was his purpose at the moment. He was a Joy, and he was meant to help people... Yet... something was irking and burying its way deep inside the young man, and he couldn't leave it alone now.

There had been a lull in the number of patients coming in, and in that shot time, Jayme had slipped away. He'd be back soon. He had to see. Had to see.... For reasons he couldn't explain... he had to see. The race to the capital's relief center had been so quick he hadn't even seen it... Seen... the outside... what had been... destroyed by the bombings. It irked him... He wanted to see it... wanted to see it... for reasons he couldn't explain.

Before he realized it, Jayme was walking down the street. Upon realizing it, he stopped. His head jerked towards a sign that pointed towards the commercial district, and with that, he'd turned and started walking again. He just... just to see... He had no idea why... but... he wanted to see.... His pace quickened now, and Jayme found himself running faster before making a sharp turn and---....

Jayme's eyes grew large, and for a brief moment, he simply stood there. The destruction... the rubble...it... was worse than the news had said it was... worse than he had imagined.... Why he had wanted to see it... He felt weak, and suddenly the pink haired boy seized a bent light pole to keep himself from falling. Biting the inside of his mouth, Jayme forced himself to stand up fully again. Walking towards the destruction, he forced himself to look at it... forced himself to see....Why... couldn't.... I .... I save them? Why... couldn't anyone... Why couldn't I stop this? His shoulders vibrated with the force of his now heavy steps. I... I started training... so that... I could... prevent something like this... why...why.....why...why.... These thoughts filled Jayme, but he simply kept walking. He felt like crying, but he didn't... He didn't.......He didn't know why... didn't understand why... but his feet kept moving forwards. Jayme felt sick.

The young man simply kept walking.....

Walking among the rubble was a tall man with bright blonde hair. Lucio had come to the capital to get some info. Such as how many people died how many were hurt what the extent of the damage was ect. He wore his black cloak which covered most of his outfit. Concealing his sabers and his arms for that matter. Underneath he had a suit on as Lucio always did. Walking around trying to take in the full extent of the damage. Lucio came across a boy who was wandering around. The boy looked like a lost puppy one who should not be seeing this gruesome scene. Lucio walked over to him and greeted him with a hello. "Hello there what are you doing way out here?" Lucio said with a polite and caring voice.

Looking sideways, he stared in Lucio's direction silently for a few seconds. Though he should have expected some sort of relief worker still moving about and helping people, the fact that there was anyone actually there was somehow surprising to him. The gloom, destruction, and death was too overwhelming, and any sort of life somehow seemed impossible. Looking forwards again, Jayme brought in a considerable amount of air and shook his head. "I don't understand," was all he answered back. He felt sick... He should have probably gone back to the pokemon center and help the Joys there. However, he didn't and instead, he started to look around at the destruction with a blank expression. "H-how anyone... could... do this...." he finished quietly feeling his shoulders vibrate from something not his steps. [/scrolly]

Lucios face took on a somber expression. Looking at the boy he said "There is a lot we don't understand about this world." Lucio said somewhat poetically. Lucio smiled as he looked at the boy. The man just wanted to take him home "Unfortunately my boy there are cruel people in our world. Some are a sick and need to be helped and there are others who are just Evil." Lucio knew that this kid was being traumatized as they spoke, but there was nothing he could do about it. "Tell me whats your name boy?"

However, he understood.... If somewhat painfully. There were cruel people... mean people... He already knew that from the experiances he'd been through. The image of that woman with the guns coming after his friend, and then the image of that man going after another friend... He'd never be able to get their faces out of his mind. Ever still, the images he was now taking in was... worse. It was all so much worse. The question on his name was enough to draw Jayme's eyes to Lucio. "Jay......me....Jayme...." he answered back nodding his head. "Jayme Joy." He stated... as if his pink hair wasn't enough to explain his clan. [/scrolly]

Lucio blinked a few times at hearing the boys name. "That's a nice name mine is Lucio E. Nero." Lucio always included his middle name it made him sound important. Lucio put on a light smile. "So Jayme shouldn't you be at the poke center?" Lucio knew full well this boy belonged to the Pokemon center family. However he had never met a Boy Joy before.

Really, he had just come from one... He could easily explain that he was on break, but .... That didn't explain why he had come here and why he was not quickly heading back there now. Looking away towards the rubble, Jayme was quiet for a few seconds. "Probably... My mom and I came to the capital to help everyone at the shelter's pokemon center, but... I came out here because...." He fell silent unable to find a reasonable answer as to why he was there. There was no reason he should be there among the wreckage and destruction. There were relief workers that could pick out people, and he wasn't even there to search out people, anyways. He had no answer. [/scrolly]

"I see, so just cause then?" Lucio understood what Jayme was trying to get across. Hearing something on the news is completely different from seeing it with your own two eyes. "Just remember curiosity killed the cat." Lucio spoke lightly. Lucio stood there and took a deep breathe. The breathe took on a white icy form. It was cold out actually that was an understatement it was freezing. "What do you say we go back to the shelter? I will help in anyway I can." Lucio had come partially to help so why not at the shelter?

It wasn't that-...that...ok...maybe it was that. His face feel a little more than before, and that sick feeling once more dominated his thoughts. The second statement didn't help as Jayme was forced to imagine himself as a pink cat.... It was only when he saw the breath remain frosted in the air that Jayme even realized it was cold out. His adrenaline had been keeping him warm, and the question of whether he was actually getting sick or not came to his mind. At the question and notion, a surprised look came to Jayme's face before a weak smile came to his features and he looked back towards the rubble and death there. There was nothing he could do here....nothing at all........ He...wished he had been able to stop this somehow... He wished he was strong enough to protect all those people, somehow... But...but he couldn't.... Tears were welling in Jayme, and after a moment, he simply sank to the ground and shook his head repeatedly trying to fight them off. "If...If I could have been here.... if there was some way I could have stopped it...I....I...." Jayme's voice broke, and he found himself drawn silent. [/scrolly]

"J-Jayme." Lucio said before becoming quiet. "I know it may be hard p hear, but there is nothing anyone could have done. Even the strongest warrior in the world could't have stopped this." Lucio spoke the truth though he himself was saddened by the thought. Lucio chuckled a bit in his mind. A joy who wan'ts to defend people now that's a first. "I myself have devoted most of my adult life towards stopping people who commit crimes, and I couldn't stop it. Jayme my point is you mustn't blame yourself." Lucio said finally getting around to the point. Such a sweet kid why did this have to happen to him?

If an adult couldn't have done anything, surely he couldn't. He wasn't even sixteen yet. He wouldn't be until next year. Even that wasn't an adult, and already an adult had said he couldn't have done anything. But why? It....it hurt him....This helplessness. Why couldn't he do anything? Why couldn't anyone have stopped this madness before it began? It was frustrating among other things, and it only brought on a fresh wave of tears thereafter. "If I could have found the bomb or ... or if I could have could have known about it somehow, I could have stopped it from happening," he answered back as weak sobs finally escaped from him. His voice cracked again, and he fell silent for a few seconds just staying there unable to move. "It's not fair! It's not fair all these people had to die! For what? Why would anyone do this? WHY?" Jayme hadn't even realized his voice had risen until the shout had broken out of him and cracked his voice one more. "It's not fair..." he whimpered quietly to himself. Not fair at all. He didn't really expect Lucio to answer. The man had already given his explanation, and Jayme was sure that was the max he could give, or at least he assumed. However, it wasn't enough to fill the ache for the young man. All he had ever wanted was to help people, and now, right after he had started to train to be able to defend the people he cared so deeply about, it was as if someone had just smacked him across the face and said 'you weren't good enough and you never will be'. It was harsh... too harsh for him, and Jayme, far from an adult, wasn't able to comprehend. However, he was understanding the cruelty of life, at least, if anything. It was horrible. [/scrolly]

"You're right Jayme it isn't fair, but this is our cruel reality. You must understand that if you found the bomb the only difference would be your death. Harsh , but true Lucio hated having to say these words. Though he knew it was for the best so he did. "I for one am glad you didn't find the bomb. That would mean I wouldn't be here talking to you." Lucio smiled a little bit. Lucio then put his hand on top of Jayme's head, and ruffled his hair a bit before taking his hand off the boys head. "You're a brave kid for being able to come out here, but nobody can save everyone. " Lucio whilst saying this began to cry though one could not tell by his voice.

Though he could put on a hard face this event had hit Lucio deep. So many people , and for what reason? who was caught in the blast? The man had his own questions he needed answering. However Lucio would gladly put his aside for the sake of helping this boy. "Unfortunately we can not go back in time to stop this, ...but I can go and find the person who did this. I swear on my life Jayme I will and I will bring him to justice." Speaking proudly.

He...he would have died along with everyone else had he been there at the time the bomb had gone off. This chilled his blood more than his emotions had fired it up. He suddenly felt very exhausted and all but defeated in one fatal swoop. Feeling the hand on his head and the ruffle of his hair, Jayme slowly looked up at Lucio. At the words that followed, he sighed quietly but nodded in understanding. It....it still wasn't fair... but...but... Closing his eyes, Jayme sighed. "No one can save everyone..." he mumbled softly repeated the words that had been said. Though he hated to believe it, he found himself forced to..... Closing his eyes, he sighed quietly. What could he do? ...The word justice brought Jayme's eyes open once more, and he found himself quietly sitting on his heels. Justice...what was right... He had to find a way... to bring about justice...the person who did this... needed to be brought to justice. "I... I want to help," he stated after a moment before slowly forcing himself up into a standing position again. [/scrolly]

Wiping his tears away Lucio looked at the boy. H-he wanted to help? "You wan't to help? well I see no reason why you can't." Lucio smiled this boy was really something. Jayme sort of reminded Lucio of himself a little bit. Lucio then took on a stern face. He knew Jayme men't well,but could he handle what it entails.

"Jayme tell me though do you understand what protecting people entails? You may one day have to kill someone will you be able to do that?" Lucio knew this boy meant well, but could he take a life? Lucio did not know the boy may surprise him with an answer , but then again maybe not.

Yes, he wanted to help. "Really?" he smiled. Maybe Lucio could help him get stronger... and with adding that on to Miguel's training... He could even be that much stronger! Then he would be able to protect everyone, and and and.....Yet this actually put an end to itself as Jayme's dreams were smashed by his own cold reality. No... he wouldn't... be bale to protect everyone... His face fell slightly, but ... He still wanted to help. That was what he wanted.... To help as many and protect as many as he possible could. A more determined look set itself on Jayme's features, and he nodded again. However, as the man had gone on, something in Jayme shivered, and he physically cringed as a result. To actually kill someone? To take a life away from someone? A rather horrified look hit Jayme's face, and he shook his head repeatedly. He couldn't kill! He was in training to be a nurse! They saved lives! They didn't take them away! "NoIcouldneverkillanyone," he slurred these words into one and fell silent again. Even with what he had taken up from Miguel... he wouldn't kill... He'd disarm his foe, but... There was no reason to kill......Why would... Lucio even say that? [/scrolly]

Lucio then smiled brightly again. "Just a test how could you protect people if you killed them right?" Lucio was lying through his teeth though. Just as I thought he is still naive. Lucio thought to himself. Thinking it best that he tell Jayme more about this later maybe when he is older. "So Jayme do you know how to fight?" Lucio inquired. It would be a useful thing to know how to fight. It would certainly stop him from being killed so yeah a good thing. If it came down to it Lucio would train the boy himself. It could be rather fun...fun. Well maybe not that would cut into Lucio's play time, or as he would call it "Business."

Ah... ok... ok... yeah... that was .... Slowly nodding, he managed to smile a little. "Right," he answered back easier now. However, the second question caught him a little off guard. Well... "I... I have someone training me how to use a sword...." he said rather quietly rubbing the back of his neck and thinking of Miguel. He... really needed to talk to him later... "But... I just started learning a bit ago," he answered back. It hadn't even been a month yet, but Jayme had at least gotten some of the basics down....The practice sword Miguel had gotten him was considerably lighter than a real sword, but it was still rather heavy and hard to use for Jayme.... Lucio continuing to smile well that was good at least it was progress for the boy. He was also glad the boy did not further question the whole killing thing.."Oh so you are going to be a swordsmen huh? What kind of blade are you learning to use?" Lucio asked curiously. There were so many types samurai swords,Knight swords, Sabers... Oh my god does he use sabers? Lucio asked himself that would be so awesome another saber user. Lucio who had gotten lost in his thoughts looked at Jayme. "So what kind?"

At the moment, at least, he used practice swords... which were wooden in nature and couldn't actually do too much damage which was their purpose. He couldn't begin to think of what he would use after that. He had seen Miguel's extremely styled dragon sword once before, but a part of him wanted something more simple than that... mostly because it would be lighter, hopefully. "Well... at the moment... er.. my master is just....teaching me with wooden swords... and.. i don't know what after that," he answered back honestly. [/scrolly]

Wooden swords? Lucio then mentally faced palmed himself. Thinking back to his training with his master. He had used real blades from the get go. That would explain why he had been cut so many times. Looking back to Jayme he spoke "Ah very well just remember to tell your master to train you in hand to hand as well." That was almost more important then learning how to use a sword. A regular swordsmen without his blade is screwed , but if he can fight there is still hope to win.
