Cricket shielded her eyes against the setting sun's bright rays as she walked through the zoo.. She had been here a few times as a child, and though it was always amusing to see such rare Pokemon, she had always felt bad for them being kept to be merely looked at. A Pokemon should be free to be wild, or at least to be by the side of a trainer that cared for them.. She had decided that she needed to come and see the zoo again when she heard that the Pokemon had all broken out, and she had finally gotten around to it.
It was much the same as it had been when she was a child in layout and decoration, but she could tell that people didn't exactly hang around here too often. It was almost dangerous to be around so many unruly Pokemon that had likely been dragged here from their own homes.. However, Cricket had the confidence that she could either calm a Pokemon intent on causing her harm or fight it off with her own Pokemon. At the thought of her Pokemon, Cricket pulled a ball from her bag and sat on a bench, inspecting the shiny red shell.
"I just don't get you, Pepper.." she said with a sigh, turning the ball this way and that in her hands. The Pikachu in question seemed terribly indifferent to her trainer no matter what Cricket said or did. It was disconcerting for someone like her, who had always been able to relate better to Pokemon than to other humans. And so she sat, looking forlorn and alone as ever, even in a place like this in which she would normally be thrilled.

Elly sat in a tree, watching the stranger hold a pokeball in her hands. She seemed harmless, but then so did many other people. Sighing, the espeon looked at Elayne who was sitting comfortably on the branch next to her, and smiled.
"I think she's fine...but don't say anything...if you want to climb down yet that is."Elly said in a calm voice.
Elayne nodded and leaned against the trunk of the tree.
"OK Elly, but I want to stay up here for a moment longer."[/color]she thought as she closed her eyes.
Elly nodded and lay down on the branch, swishing her tail back and forth contentedly as they relaxed.

The girl sighed once again, placing the Pokeball back into her bag. It didn't matter right now anyways, so she would just leave Pepper alone for now. Another Pokeball was brought out instead and the button was tapped, releasing a cute little Eevee instead. The little brown creature shook himself, grinning.
"Vee eevee!" he called up to his trainer, who laughed. At least little Nya loved her. Cricket picked up the little foxdog and held him like a baby for a moment, making a few baby noises, then put him back down.
"Alright, Nya, we're going to walk around here. It's a pretty big place, though, so please stay close."
Nya nodded, waving his tail. With a chuckle, Cricket began to walk away from that spot, making her way towards a different set of empty enclosures..

Elayne smiled and jumped lightly down from the tree, knowing that at the sight of the Eevee, Elly would be down shortly.
Elly looked up at the sound of the Eevee and jumped down, forgetting herself as she ran over to the Eevee.
"Esp, espeon..."she purred/mewed.
Elayne chuckled at Elly's reaction and walked over to the woman.
"Hello,"she said in a kind, quiet voice,"I'm Elayne, what's your name?"

The brown-haired girl paused and swiftly turned on her heel when she heard a voice speaking to her - it must be speaking to her, right? - and smiled when she saw a pleasant-looking trainer and an Espeon.
"Oh, hello..~" she purred, admiring the Espeon while she greeted the other trainer. "Elayne, hu? I'm Cricket." With her second statement, Cricket extended a hand for a handshake.
Nya made a sound like his own name, a sweet "Nyaaa" noise, and rushed over to greet the Espeon.
"Vee eev eveee!" he mewled up at the feline that could very well be what he became someday. His statement was something along the lines of "Hi, I'm Nya!"

Elly smiled down at Nya and nodded.
"My name is Elly. Would you like to play Nya?" she mewed before crouching playfully.
Elayne took the hand offered to her and shook it, smiling shyly.
"Nice to meet you Cricket."she said quietly before turning to look at Elly and smiling, "I have two little Eevee that look just like yours...they just hatched a few weeks ago though so they're still rather young and don't have much experience yet."

Nya looked ecstatic; not only was there a Pokemon that could very well be what he became when he evolved, but she wanted to play?! How lucky could an Eevee be?
"Eev eevee nyavee!" The little brown furball bounced about and tried to go after Elly's twin tail as a kitten might do to an older cat.
"Mm.. I've heard that Eevee are anything but rare these days. Everyone breeds theirs and they get distributed easily." She looked at her little Nya with fondness. "My dear Nya.. I found him in this gorgeous forest I was in once a year or so ago. I was walking with my Pikachu, Pepper, and he came charging out of the bushes and rammed straight into her. Normally, she would have destroyed any Pokemon who would do something like that, but she was fond of Nya right away, so I caught him in hopes that she might warm up to me just a little more." Cricket sighed, then realized how sad she sounded and shook her head. "But yes, he's a valuable member of the team, of course."

Elly chuckled and swished her tail back and forth, watching the Eevee try to catch it.
Elayne nodded and smiled slightly.
"Elly was my first pokemon, I rescued her and she'd been protective of me ever since then..."she said in a quiet voice before falling silent, content just to watch the two pokemon play.

A faint laughing and cheering is soon heard throughout the area, gradually getting louder and louder. As the laughter could be more clearly heard, it sounded more like snickering than laughter or anything. As the source of the sound got louder, a soft whimpering, almost crying sound could be heard. Curious enough, one would wonder what this was.

Cricket opened her mouth to reply to Elayne, wanting to say something along the lines of her Espeon being lucky, when the laughter and quiet sobbing interrupted her thoughts. Despite her adoration of this abandoned place and her lack of fear towards nearly anything, she couldn't help a chill running down her spine.
"..You heard that too, right?" she asked once the sound had faded somewhat. She wondered if it wasn't some kind of Pokemon in need of help..

Elayne stiffened when she heard the sound and nodded to Cricket's question before standing up and heading towards the sound. Whatever it was, if help was needed Elayne was going to do her best to do just that.
Elly stopped playing with Nya and looked in the direction the sound had come from. Motioning for Nya to follow, the Espeon began to follow after Elayne, keeping a wary eye out for anything that might possible harm her or the little Eevee.

As the laughing and whimpering got louder, it was now clear what was making the noise. A pair of Aipom throwing a Pineco around as if it was a ball, the Pineco obviously in distress. As the Aipom snickered, throwing the Pineco to each other with their tails, tears began streaming down the bug type. "Ai Ai pom?"[/i](does baby want his mommy?) The bigger Aipom was heard snickering.

Cricket's eyes widened, then narrowed in anger. How dare those Aipom treat the little Pineco like that?!
"Nya, get the bigger one with a Growl and a Quick Attack!" growled Cricket, and her Pokemon appeared to be outraged as well as he rushed towards the big Aipom to deliver his attacks. He snarled menacingly with his Growl and then tried to knock himself into it quickly.

Elayne didn't realize what was going on until Cricket ordered her Eevee to attack. At first she just stood there in shock, wondering why Aipom would treat a little Pineco so cruelly... Elayne was about to order Elly to help but realized that the Espeon was already running towards the other Pokemon, hissing in anger.
Elly hissed as soon as she saw what all the commotion was about and used Psychic to attempt to gently lift the Pineco out of the clutches of the Aipom and next to Elayne before using Psybeam on the other Aipom.
