The beginning of roleplay.

Alright. That Sea Breeze advertisement was bothering me... So I have to make SOMETHING to kill it from my eyesight. So....... I have to come up with some SORT of conversation to do so.....

Well... I could just continue to rant about how I don't like the advertisement, and how I don't like the idea of people coming and going and doing it as they please. It's just me being a moody little brat, but I'll get on with the subject.


ANYWAYS.

I want to hear everyone's stories on when they had first experienced what roleplay was, whether they knew what it was at the time or not.

For the longest time, I didn't know WHEN I had experienced my first roleplay until I started talking to someone about chatrooms... It had then hit me.

My first roleplay occurred in an MSN chatroom when I was just a little sprout. The Chatroom was called "The 7th Heaven" If anyone has NOT played FINAL FANTASY VII, it's the Bar Tifa Lockheart owned in sector 7 (Omg 777 *shot*) ANYWAYS. The Chatroom was filled with people who were usually Final Fantasy (Or final fantasy based) Characters, but of course, some oddballs were in there also.

It was AMAZING. My character was always up in the rafters, peering down with the new Passer-by that came in and out every day. I spent my time in that chatroom whenever I was online. It was my way to socialize, because it was around the time my family had a lot of moving, and splitting up >.>; But it's what kept me happy.

Before I continue going on and on about how I miss the chatroom... I'd like to hear everyone else's first experiences... or earliest experiences of roleplay they can recall. <3

Technically, SG's first roleplaying was... well.. Since my brother was old enough to carry on a semi-coherent conversation. xD It'd more often be called 'pretend' or 'make believe' for little kids, but when you and some other youngling go "I wanna be Ryoko and you can be.." isn't that a form a roleplay, too? x'3

As to online/written roleplay, SEVEN YEARS AGO TODAY SG joined an ancient fansite called PokeVista. It was my very first forum, where I joined as "Suicunegirl", which was quickly shortened by others to SG. So for all practical purposes, then seven years ago today is when SG became SG!!<3 HUZZAH<3 At any rate, it was just a general discussion forum, really. But as time went on, eventually the webmaster decided to make a section for Roleplaying. x''3 Our first RP.... omfg. xD

It was entirely script format (That is, "Aimi: Let's go, Burakki! We're running late!" etc. xP), and everyone controlled everyone else's chars to a minor extent. Our character "bios" were like one paragraph in their entirety. It was me, the webmaster (Brandon), my best friend irl at the time (Kristin), and a good friend of ours on the site (Grace). Kristin's starter was a Ponyta; the normalcy ended there. xD Brandon's starter was a Shiny Umbreon with a crescent moon instead of ring on his head. MY starter was a chibitastic Suicune/Vulpix hybrid. And Grace came in late, so she started out with multiple Pokemon including Dratini and I'm wanting to say a Flygon. xD Yyyyeah. WE FAAAAIIIIILED. It was fun.


x''3 My first ORGANIZED RP was technically one a few of you may have heard of? A long time ago, there was a fairly popular board called Valley of Mist, which happened to be owned by a PV-going friend called Keika. xD I n00bed it up SO hard there and had to have kids younger than me telling me to read the rules and actually see how they RP'd there and stuff. x'3 I only had maybe a few posts there, though, as I soon decided to start my own n00btastic RP board (ETHER REMEMBERS INARI'S SHRINE! *FLAIL* x'3 Her and like five other people on the planet) as well as got CRAZY drawn into a VoM affie: Divine Suicune.

Divine Suicune was so fail looking back; we godmodded and powerplayed with no end, and the owner was among the worst. ...x'D Most of my RP was in an ongoing journey WITH him, so.. Yeah. But dear LORD that was some of the funnest time of my life. From Divine Suicune I eventually found Sunerion Isle, a play-as-Pokemon RP, which along with her (Sunerion is female; don't ask why we know or care this :3) descendants became the love of my life until earlier this year.

About the last week of December '09, I decided to start a male human char based loosely on my favorite Pokemon character. Over the next few months of obsessing, Alaric was born<3<3 And I fell back in love with humanity in general, and began working on my own board that's still under mass construction. Then Ether IM'd me one day about VC, and I found out it had a lot of similarities, just with a little more plot and a little less freedom (part of which comes with more plot, part of which means my board is/was/will be(?) even more mature). But I liked most of the differences and went "oooooh".

"And then I walked over here, and then it was now, and then I don't know what happened~ " *SHOT* (First person to actually tell me what that quote is from gets $500 in RP money. x'3)

A lot more smaller experiences in there, most notably some AMAZING Yu-Gi-Oh! RPing on fanfiction.net during Divine Suicune and early Sunerion time, but summing up the mass of "Sunerion's descendants" just under that one title (including one of my own that ran for about two years), that's pretty much my RP life. x3

Hurm. My first RP was on Gaia I think. They were all preeeettty damn fail. x3

At some point, someone advertised a fail InvisionFree Pokemon RP board in the chatterbox, and I saw it was fail, but also saw the URL was not a normal this.com or something. And so I found IF and their board-search.

I joined a shit-ton of new Pokemon RP boards, most of which fizzled out and were pretty uninteresting anyway. But! Butbutbut I found IS and I met SG.

...It was almost exactly six years ago I joined IS I think. Near the end of September anyway. o3o

And then IS kinda died, but near the end of its activity I was made a mod, and I LOVED that site, so every few months for the next couple years, I went there and cleared the spam out (and being a teenager, ranted at the spammers in the threads they made xD;)

I had a few different bouts of joining new IF boards, and one that focused on shadow Pokemon had an ad for another IF board. Now, I normally did NOT like joining large boards, but for some reason joined this one anyway.

...and realized after reading posts and seeing signatures that I DID recognize those sprites and I DID remember Brendan being on IS and I was like OMGGOMGOMGOGMOMGOMGM.

xD So yeah, Element Destiny was so win.

So I was there until activity failed on it, and kinda the same with Sunerion number two, except I stopped board RP for a long time, somewhat before the board was inactive.

And then SG and I RPed over IM with Yuki and Alaric (so essentialy, she's to blame for Yuki's epic-long bio (in some ways anywho) xD;) and then I joined VC and eventually posted whoo.
