Flanora Mountains The Flanora Mountains are the tallest mountains in Era. They remain frozen most of the year only slightly defrosting in the summer. The glaciers move slowly but are ever threatening to those that try and make the trek. Wild pokemon are ever present and rather hostile. On highest peak of the mountains, there exists a hot-springs pond that holds the coveted Crystal Tear, a rare white flower that exists no where else in the world. In the north, there is a tradition that if a man wishes to purpose, he will climb the mountain and retrieve the flower for the one he loves.Types: Ice, Fighting, Ground, and a few Water Incultar DesertThis vast desert has little to no inhabitants except for rugged pokemon and wandering sand people. The heat is exceptionally cruel, and death is common. The sand people are cruel and harsh often robbing each other and anyone that enters the desert unprotected. There is no shade or resting places for miles, but mirages are a common occurrence.

Mountains, Jay-bird. x3 Easy enough to edit your name and desc to work though, just include the tall peak among them and stuff. :3

Proving yet again it doesn't matter what I say, because you're going to try to hear it how you want to. If you didn't intend to sound condescending but to me you did, shouldn't that support the idea it was equally unintentional on my part? No, because I am SG, and SG is clearly ALWAYS a condescending heartless bitch.
I'm pretty certain I've explained this several times before, but in case you've missed it: I CAN'T HELP THIS. I am MENTALLY INCAPABLE of writing shorter explanations of things, or rather to do so would take me days or even weeks IF I could manage it, and even THAT would probably still be longer than normal people's writing. See that last sentence for another example. When you get some free time someday, please read up on Asperger's Syndrome. I readily admit I have not actually been diagnosed officially, but I do have a good 85% or more of symptoms including the optional ones and my Autism Quotient Spectrum score is 36 (where 30's and up are almost always indicant of some degree or form of autism, which Asperger's is, and a normal score is around 15). In addition, TheLostCup is diagnosed, and he's agreed that Flora (his RL girlfriend) seems extremely likely given they act ridiculously alike, and Flora and I act about the same for most things, too, (including identical AQS score xP), so yar. ':3; I may be too poor to afford a doctor, but for me NOT to have it would be really, really odd. .... =3=; And apologies for the length of THIS post now... Small font in attempt to make it look a little easier, bah.. But yes, could you try to keep that in mind next time you want to gripe at me for being long-winded? '^^
o3o; That's odd.. I'd completely forgotten I made the Amazon.. >_> Just because YOU don't like rain forests doesn't mean other people need them to bend all laws of the universe just to be intrigued. I've always thought they were the most amazingly awesome places on the whole planet, and I can guarantee I'm not the only one. (8'D I once tried to convince my dad we should move to Ecuador. Dead serious.)
You prove again you don't read my full posts before getting butthurt. I addressed this, particularly with the line "We should just allow ... Pokemon-human interbreeding ... and other such physics-defying things that have become just as popular as the sort of magic you propose."
Not until we get at least one more entry to compare; it doesn't matter if my own works are involved or not, I meant it when I said I want to see lots of ideas before deciding to make sure these are great. I'll take that as permission to judge though.
Once again you didn't respond to my ancient spirits roaming the forest part either. Just noting that.. Unlike other spiritual/haunted areas, though, these attract no notable number of psychics/darks/ghosts and are completely human. >>; It's like the disappearing village type of myth. If that wasn't clear enough from implications I can make it moreso. But really, unless that sort of thing is found in RL rainforests and I'm just not aware of it..... -3-; Yeah. It's NOT "just a rain forest, the end".

I feel like most people have a little bit of a few mental "defects" (not sure what other word to use) Even if you're not diagnosed, you probably have a little bit of it. But yeah, sorry that it gets on my nerves. Sometimes it seems like you do it on purpose.
Who said I don't like rain forests? It wouldn't make much sense of me to put time and effort into making a rain forest area if I didn't like them.
Oh nice job making yourself look good, it's what you do at the end of every argument that you happen to be involved in. You're obviously going to choose your own so don't bother wasting someone else's time.
Well good, we really don't need more psychic/dark/ghost areas ^^'. *Thinks of Roanoke* Hm I guess that's cool.

=/ Ok please stop. I realize you're both arguing to prove your own points, but this is just making both of you angry and not really getting anyone anywhere. Admins shouldn't argue like this in any instance (but most importantly here in public where new members can see all this drama outright). It only causes tension on the site. If you wish to continue this, please put it PM instead.
How about when we get enough entries for different places, we'll do a poll instead of putting it directly in someone's hands? That way we can see what the general populus wants instead of making it such a personal matter.

@ether: I assure you, it's not on purpose.
"Just being a rain forest is NOT awesome" = you don't like them as much as some of us at least. 'x3; Really, rain forests are second only to MAGICAL forests/fairy tale kingdoms/etc to me. x'3; I'm such a dork. 8'3 *saw Tangled yesterday; still spazzing*
'^^; Have you vaguely considered I end up "looking good" at the end of every "argument" because the things I say actually ARE what's been in my mind the whole time and/or because I've had enough practice debating to know how to end on an easy note in which "looking good" is purely a side effect with the primary objective just being to end with as little bitterness and tension as possible? ....<<; WOW that was one sentence.. =3=; For the record, sleep deprivation does NOTHING to help my wordiness.. x'3; ...
@jay: '^^ Most people like to conveniently forget to reply to PM conversations, meaning nothing gets resolved and it sits to fester, while IMs are FAR more tense given less time to calm oneself/reread/consider things thoroughly before replying, and honestly I prefer to have no secrets from the memberbase when it comes to things like this. Trust me, it's a LOT worse when it DOES finally go public if you keep it secret too long beforehand, and that is a when, not an if. Besides, outside opinions can't be added to a private convo. Granted 90% of this memberbase is too D8OMGCONFLICTWHATWILLIDO to do so anyway, but... 'x3; No offense, I still love you all<3
Back @ether: '^__^; Actually, hon? I was going to be biased toward any other entries for the sole purpose of avoiding such accusations, and if I didn't feel any others worked well intended to get the majority of staff for second opinions before daring to choose my own. On that note, you have no room to talk given you want your own just as badly.
@both: I've been considering proposing polls for a while anyway, though. More specifically, it might be a good idea to count parts of entries separately and mix and match, even. For example, let's say the mountains. Maybe someone will submit some that are just amazing, but someone else has a better name. Meanwhile, while epic concept is epic, the desc seems a little short or has some odd part that doesn't fit, so we take Jay's rare flower and/or the like and splice into it. Just if people don't mind their ideas being used only in part.
On the jungle note, I do love the name Tanglethorne at least.. >> << ...The fact it makes me think of Stranglethorn in WoW means NOTHING I tell ye! *SHOT* 'x'3; (But honestly, while familiarity may still play a positive role, if it was purely association I should hate it, because Stranglethorn Vale (at least prior to the world being completely redone this last week; I dunno about now) was always like the worst place in Warcraft. x"3 Worse because I grew up on a PvP server (read: anyone can kill you at any random time in most of the world).. Yeah. ...Remember my mentioning sleep deprivation? 8'D *so random/fail/braindead* *crash*)

More should be done on this.
I may as well re-propose an actually well-done uni thing because the Gressenheller one really was just sort of a joke.
[Picture Coming Soon~] University of Era (UE for short) UE has a long and proud history. It has stood for hundreds of years, so long that the year it was opened is subject to heated debate. Many a bestselling author and acclaimed scientist call the UE their alma mater. In fact, field biologists at UE were the first to realize that the child in a Kangaskhan's pouch is a separate evolution stage from its mother. Now, however, its run on hard times, and aside from the normal schooling that it still offers--if less than before--it also hosts Pokemon battle classes, open for both registered students and the general public to attend. Like any other class, though, they do cost money to register for.

(Picture coming soon)
Mystery Island
Mystery Island is an island that has never been explored. Explorer after explorer had gone but none ever came back, thus giving it the name Mystery Island. When you get closer most people would swear that they had seen the island completely inhabited by the people that have gone trying to explore the island before. But when they get there they see they are wrong. Ships have sunk there, and even more mysteriously there isn't any water pokemon in the surrounding water. The most mysterious thing is that the island has such an aura of hallucination that something 2 feet in front of you just disappears.

... Yes, I stole the same desert pic Jay used and threw the Black Pearl on it. x'3 *MAULED* The Dry Sea (or: Sea of Sand, Desert Sea) This vast desert gets its name from the massive 'pools' of quicksand that fill more of the area than not, and the wave-like effect this thin sand makes in the wind. Fortunately, it's shallow enough that most adults can wade through most places. All the same, it's probably a good idea to stay close to the solid places if you can find them just in case; look for cacti and shrubs. Perhaps more than the water-like qualities, however, another mysterious factor contributes to the sea impression: an abandoned ship, allegedly a pirate ship, sitting wrecked out in the sand. Of course, everything of real value has been long-since stolen, but many adventurers still search in hopes some small secret was missed. Rumor has it some modern-day sand-pirates wander the area in much smaller vessels seeking unfortunate travelers to pillage, but these are most likely just children's stories.
Pokemon: Various desert 'mon as seen in the Hoenn and Unova deserts, as well as a few Barboach, Stunfisk, and Wooper. Mandibuzz and MAYBE Braviary (depending on how long the list is when everything else is added) too. Most notably, all the Pokemon that already play on the sand/water idea: the Hippopotas, Sandile, and Dwebble families (and any others I may be forgetting because I'm too lazy to check). ;P

... :U OMG HEY ETHAR!! So Pup reminded me of something that's been bothering me for a few weeks too. (Note that this aids my earlier argument that sometimes simple is better, but anyweh. x3) 8'3 SO YAH. We still need a jungle... And actually we really could use a second city in the East too.. 8U BUT SG HADZ THOUGHT ON THIS ETHAZ. What if we took your basic concept for the jungle and downscale it a bit for a forest? .3. Like, rather than giant trees springing up, which is a little ludicrous, what about just like vines and flowers and little stuff? o3o That's a little less crazy, and could maybe lend to a light fairy-type theme...? We could make it enchanted to an extent, giving it a little bit of that 'something special' quality, but still keep it overall as a basic deciduous forest we need. 83 Iz gewd? .... x'3 And ohgawd. I just had a thought for a second Eastern city too... x''3; A village based on a Harvest Moon town. x'D; *SHOT* --- :U On the note of things we need, to do two or all three of the eastern needs and still keep it moderately balanced, the south could really use some ruins, the north maybe a frozen lake or something? And then we really need a random meadow area somewhere in Era, so West seems as good an area as any, neh?

I second this notion :B *is dead serious* A valley of sorts x3 somewhere between where the mountains in the north stop and where the east meets it.

.. x'3 A valley is totally something we don't have yet too...
On that note, a large valley could be an option for the north, too. ... .3. Maybe a sort of oasis-equivalent, even.. o3o

SG I love your desert idea (no not just because I am obsessed with Pirates of the Carribean x3) I think it needs a better name though. Let's brain storm! Random suggestions: - Khamsea (Khamsin pronounced like cam-seen is a hot desert wind.) Or Khamseen Sea..I don't know.
- Wreckage Desert
- Carrion Sea
- Downfall Desert
- Hazestrewn Sands
- Creeping Sea
- Madman's Dunes
Ooh that could work with just flowers and vines randomly springing to life lol, but I would miss the jungle aspect of it.

@jay: NOOOOOO village. xD The North has FOUR cities already, as opposed to three west, two south, and one east. .... x''3 Which actually really makes me lol with the 4-3-2-1-ness but the East still should be brought up to speed a bit, dammit. *SHOT* X'3 (Damn at the fact we have to break the numbers. x'P *shotmoar*)
@ethe: x3 Nyyyah, I really thought Dry Sea was pretty kickass.. xP HOWEVER, SG cannot resist a word play. xD Khamsea is epicsauce~ With all three admins unanimously endorsing the idea, I guess I'll go ahead and throw this up. x3 If Jay comes up with an even better name we can always change that part quite easily-
.-. ...Hey, what about Deadman's Dunes? x'3 *SHOT* ... xDD Then the ship can be the Flying Orren! *MAULED* Mostly being retarded here, but if you do like it, like I said we can always change names easily so yeah. x'3 *puts up desert* 83
x3 And yar, junglez are amazing... but FAIRY FOREST ETHA! x3 *FLAIL<3* Imagine it with like bioluminescent flowers and fungi in places and this whole surreal feel in the air and and <3

x3 I got our new desert put up, list made (including a few pretty epic/loltastic 'mon, such as Onix to be a giant sea serpent xD), and master list updated, so SG is gonna nap now while children are. x3 I'll type up some more areas when I wake up, assuming you or someone else hasn't already covered them with something I really like before then. x3

*Peeks in* Hello~ I don't know if it's already been done but maybe an Underground theme area? Or maybe even an underwater area so more people can find pokemon that don't really have...legs to walk with =3
|
|
|
Post by Admiral Striker General on Feb 8, 2011 18:50:33 GMT -5
Heh. 'x3; The problem with underwater areas is that while the Pokemon that we could find there can't really just walk around or breathe straight air... the trainers do. 'x3 So traveling down there might prove difficult. You can always just go swimming at one of the current areas with water though. :U As well as go fishing. :3
Underground would kind of be a cave, which Ether said no more of a while back, but... Honestly, looking over things now, there really aren't many caves at all. Especially not compared to like forests. .3. (x'D; Which we STILL need another of because we somehow have like ten of them and none are even close to 'just forest'.) But yar.
.3. And what caves we have are pretty similar.. So building off Palk's suggestion, what about an underground lake and/or river cave in the west? :U ('I AM a fan of secret rivers...' *MAULED* x3) We don't really have a really wet cave. ... .3. And oooh. Maybe for some added fun/specialness it could run under the west from near the capital out to the ocean, making it a once-secret way in and out of Era (now more public knowledge since the coup)? 83
