It would likely come as no surprise to most, that the eastern forests of Era were once home to a large amount of logging business' and operations. Even though such activities had largely died down, their legacy was still very much alive as evidence by the many tree stumps which had dotted the landscape. Devin had actually come here on a personal venture of curiosity. He had heard that there were still a few workers here, that were still diligently putting in hours to ensure that at least someone had the materials to build homes, and anything else that required some form of wood. He wanted to find them and ask them a few quick questions about what it was like when the area was more active and lively
It was now probably about 11:00 in the morning and as the sun shone down through the trees, a chill breeze blew through the area, reminding all those nearby that winter still lingered, and a few inches of snow were still covering the ground next to the man made path that Devin was walking on. He had been walking for quite a while now and decided that it was time to take a short break.
He walked over to a nearby tree stump, trudging through the snow as he did, and sat down on the stump. Devin then reached into his backpack and took out his canteen, which was about half full, and proceeded to gulp down a large amount of water until the canteen was only about 1/4 full. Fortunately for Devin, he could fill the canteen back up with the snow which blanketed the ground all around the area when he ran out of water. He would need more water before he reached the main logging camp which was still a few miles away.

Not far off from the man, what came as a Timburr carrying a large piece of wood appeared to be headed towards Devin. Followed closely behind the muscular pokemon, a Sentret walked and seemed to cheer on the Timburr every few seconds. Off in a completely different direction and farther off, a Croconaw was pushing through the brush.

Devin looked up and noticed the Timburr walking towards him with a Sentret nearby. Devin immediately became worried that he was trespassing on the Timburr's territory, and that it was angry about it. He immediately got up from the stump that he was sitting on, and began to walk off inadvertently towards a group of bushes. It was at this point that the Crocanaw came into view. He was surprised to see such a Pokemon so far away from a water source, and in the middle of winter. Devin looked at the Crocanaw for a few moments before he decided that he would make an effort to catch it. After all, Blastoise had often bugged him about adding another water type Pokemon to their team.
However, Devin wanted to cause the least amount of physical harm to the Croconaw as possible, so he took out one of his Pokeballs and tossed it casually. The Pokeball opened up, and in a flash of light, a Drowzee appeared. Devin pointed at the Crocanaw as he said, "Drowzee, use Hypnosis!" Drowzee began to emit a volley of soft blue sound waves right from the tip of its nose which sailed towards the Crocanaw. He planned on putting Crocanaw to sleep so that it could be caught more easily, and with less pain.

Despite its accuracy being generally iffy, the Hypnosis did hit the Croconaw and caused the water type to yawn rather large before slowly falling forwards and going to sleep. The Croconaw didn't quite know what hit him before he was suddenly thrust into dreamland, yet there was nothing he could do about it now.

Even though Crocanaw was now asleep, Devin knew that a strong Pokemon such as Croconaw wouldn't simply be captured if it was asleep. It still had to be weakened slightly, which meant inflicting some sort of damage on it. Devin wanted to avoid physical damage as much as possible, and fortunately, Drowzee had just the move for this type of situation. He said to to Drowzee, "Now use Dream Eater!" Drowzee extended its right arm out towards the sleeping Croconaw as the arm became surrounded by a red aura. Only seconds later the aura shot out towards the Croconaw. If successful, the attack would envelop Croconaw, and drain it of a lot of its energy.

The Dream Eater ripped the dream out from the Croconaw effectively weakening him but also waking him up again in the process. Suddenly forming an Ice Fang, the Croconaw retaliated against his attacker of sorts.

Drowzee cringed in pain as the Croconaw's ice-cold fangs sunk into it, causing a large amount of cold energy to shoot through its body. The attack was significant enough that Drowzee was panting after it was over. Unfortunately, Devin would now have to resort to more standard attacks to weaker the Croconaw now that it was awake. He said to Drowzee, "Okay Drowzee, give it a Psybeam!" Drowzee immediately shot out a rainbow colored beam of energy from its large nose, which sailed towards the Croconaw.

The Psybeam hit the Croconaw and caused him to crige. Suddenly the water type's eyes crossed, and he looked extremely disoriented. It seemed that the attack had confused him as well as done damage. Shaking his head to clear it (or rather trying to), the Croconaw formed a Bite soon after and made to attack once more. However, sadly in his confusion, he missed the other pokemon and ended up hitting some brush and falling over it with a loud crash sound.

Devin regretted that he had to cause this much damage to the Croconaw in order to capture it, IF he captured it, for even now it was still not a given that he would be able to catch it here and now. He prepared himself for the worst, as he took out a Pokeball and tossed it at the Croconaw.

The ball hit the Croconaw and seemed to fall to the ground shaking rather quickly. However, after a full ten seconds of fighting, the ball quietly rang capture.
Name: Species: Croconaw Gender: Male Ability: Torrent Personality: This Croconaw is rather docile under most circumstances. He doesn't bother other pokemon as long as they don't mess with him. However, once a battle starts, he tends to grow more serious and will fight to prove he is stronger. He likes to wander new areas, and this often causes him to wander away from his trainer and get lost.

Devin picked up the Pokeball which now contained the Croconaw and smiled for a few seconds before he put it away in his backpack. He then took out another Pokeball and pointed it at a now exhausted Drowzee. Drowzee was quickly whisked back inside its Pokeball in a flash of red light. Putting Drowzee's Pokeball away, he looked back towards the pathway and didn't see the Timburr or Sentret anymore. He decided that he would finish his break up later, and made his way back onto the clear path so he could continue making his way towards the main logging camp.

Something walked through the trees a short ways away from Devin. It was short and appeared at least partually purple from what one could make out from this far away. Closer by, a Lotad was resting rather peaceful under a tree.

As he continued down the path towards the logging camp, something caught Devin's eye, which wouldn't have if there was no snow on the ground. Something purple in color was moving through the trees, though it was so far away that Devin couldn't tell what it was. Even so, its purple color contrasted greatly with the snow on the ground, so Devin could at least tell where it was. He decided to investigate this and walked off over towards where the purple figure was right now.

As if on some odd cue of sorts, the purple creature also started towards Devin mimicking his movements. Soon enough, a Purrloin could be seen walking towards him with a calm look on her face.

As Devin got closer, he noticed that the purple figure in question was a Purrloin. Although he had never seen one before in person, he had heard that they were quite agile creatures, especially after they evolved. Such a Pokemon would be a great partner for Devin, especially for espionage purposes. He decided that he would try to catch the Purrloin, but not in the standard fashion. He didn't want to hurt the Purrloin in order to capture it, so he took out another one of his Pokeballs, and put it on the ground in front of the Purrloin. He then backed away so as not to frighten the Pokemon.

Instead of moving towards the pokeball, the Purrloin backed up just as Devin had and seemed to grin rather slowly. She was, in fact, mimicking most of his movements just mirror wise. "Purr....looo in ....Pur" she stated aloud more or less stating that it was a game and that he'd have to figure out how to win to get her to come.

Devin didn't particularly enjoy the fact that the Purrloin appeared to be imitating his every move. It was as if it was just making fun of him. Furthermore, it was getting later in the day at this point, and Devin wanted to reach the logging camp before midday so he could talk to the workers before they all went home for the day. Deciding that it wasn't worth the effort, Devin turned around and walked back towards the path, unsure as to what the Purrloin would do in response.

The Purrloin shrugged her shoulders and then turned around and headed in the exact opposite direction of Devin appearing to continue mimicking him in the end of it all. Not far off from Devin, an Azurill appeared to be looking around rather confused. Farther away from that, an Oddish looked rather droopy sitting under a tree. However, as for other pokemon, there didn't appear to be any.

(I think I'm done catching Pokemon in this thread, I mostly made it for rping with other characters, and thought I might as well catch a Pokemon or two while I'm at it, and I did, so I think I'm done with that for now.)
Devin ignored the other wild Pokemon which could be seen from the path. He had taken far too much time searching for Pokemon that he had completely lost track of time. He would need to hurry if he wanted to reach the logging camp in time. He immediately began a jog down the path making sure that there wasn't any ice directly in front of him that he could slip on. If he moved quickly enough, he might just make it there before the work day there was over.
