Icy Mistake(mod/open)

Steam rose from the snowy ground as Rouge stepped lightly across in. Puffs of steam poured from his mouth and from Joey’s atop his back. Joey was wrapped in a long cloak with her goggles over her eyes. They had decided to head toward the north first despite the freezing temperatures. To them it was just something else they could do to make themselves stronger. Thanks to Rouge’s fiery mane they were just warm enough to be able to travel through the icy forest.

“Hey Rouge, how about we head somewhere warm after this.” Rouge gave a snort to show he agreed. He was glad to know his fire was up to snuff, but he still wanted to end this training as soon as he could. Joey shivered slightly as they past under the shadow of the trees around them. Once they were through the forest they were definitely heading south.

The winter weather...It wasn't really ideal for Hanzoku. Naturally, Shift and Shadow had no problem with it, as they ran around chasing each other through the snow. The little Zorua struggled to make snow balls, while the Riolu had no problem doing so, thanks to being a bi-pedal Pokemon. Annabell was tucked away in one of Hanzoku's Pokeballs. "I hope we can find some kind of hotel in the next town. I hate this weather. I'd rather be dancing in the desert right now." Hanzoku told the two. "Dancing? Why dancing?" Shift asked. "Because....I don't know. Dancing is fun, you know?" he said, failing to explain while the Zorua was hit with another Snow Ball by Shadow.

Hanzoku was headed north when he saw a girl ready to pass them. Meh, it was probably no big deal. They continued as if it was nothing unusual.

Rouge's ears poked up when he saw the other person with his pokemon. He stopped in his tracks and stared, he hadn't thought there would be anyone else in these frozen woods. "Huh? Why'd you stop Rouge?" Joey tried to lean around his head to see. When she couldn't she leaned a bit too far. Joey had but a mere moment to realize her mistake before the weight of her sword strapped to her back pulled her right off of Rouge.

A thump was heard as she was swallowed by the snow. Rouge stared at his trainer before letting out a snort. Joey raised her head out of the snow and glared at the blue rapidash. "Keep laughing and I'll throw a snowball at your face!" Rouge pawed at the ground before leaning down and grabbed the back of Joey's cloak. He hoisted her up out of the snow and into the air. Her feet dangled above the snow as she glowered. "........smartass."

Hanzoku had no interest in turning, until he heard the sound of a fall. He turned around to see the red headed woman had fallen into the snow. He chuckled to himself, but Shadow laughed out loud. <Haha! That's just classic!> he said, causing the trainer to laugh a little louder than he had hoped. Shift seemed more worried than anything else.

Hanzoku walked over to her and the shiny Rapidash, who now had her hanging in the air. "Heheh. You alright? Looks like you had a nasty spill" he said, no longer laughing but smiling.

Joey glared at the guy when he laughed. "It's not funny!" She reached back to try to get Rouge to let her go. Rouge guessed what she wanted and let her drop. Joey thumped down onto the ground once again. She pushed herself to her feet and glared back at Rouge. "I repeat my earlier statement." He let out another snort before laying his head on her shoulder. Joey wiped the snow off of herself as she rolled her eyes. "suck up." She crossed her arms before looking up at the guy. "So why are you out here in this freezing forest?"

Hanzoku laughed again, along with Shadow while Shift watched the Rapidash carefully. Never before had he seen blue fire. It was....Beautiful. Hanzoku couldn't believe that Joey fell once again, but it had happened. When she stood back up, he was asked what he was doing out here. In some way, he felt defensive about his reasons for being in the forest. He shrugged and gave Joey an exaggerated twisted up face as he said, "Why are you out here in the freezing forest?"

Joey put her hands on her hips as she glared up at him. "Hey, I asked first." As she tried to burn a hole in his head with her gaze Rouge rolled his eyes. He gave a snort before nudging her shoulder. Joey glanced back at him before looking up at the other guy. "Fine, I'll say it first. But you'll have to introduce yourself first! We're out here to train for awhile." Joey shifted on her feet as she felt the presser of her sword on her back.

Hanzoku snickered as Joey explained her reason for being in the forest. He took notice to the fact that she seemed..uncomfortable. Whatever. Maybe she was just nervous. Then, before he could answer as to why he was there, or who he was, Shadow quickly asked, "Training for what?" with his head tilted cutely.

Joey blinked before looking down at the riolu. She stared for a moment before smiling. Her eyes lit with happiness and pride as she replied. "We're training to become knights! We're going to get everyone to stop their pointless fighting even if we have to knock some sense into them with our fists-" Rouge snorted as he looked at her pointedly. "I mean our fists or hooves." Rouge nodded before looking down at the riolu in curiosity.

Shadow simply held his head down as Shift almost snickered. Hanzoku gave Joey a tentative look. Was she insane? Or worse...Was she like them? "Why would you want to join them? The commanders care nothing for their knights, and there is no one at the throne. No one will teach you what you truly need to learn." he said, raising his normal and demon-gloved arms in the air. "Besides, even if there WAS some kind of government...It's all corrupt. You're better off teaching yourself." he said, turning around to hide his growing cocky grin.

"But then again....You'd never be quite as good as me, would you?"

[Jester]

Joey's glare returned full force as she tried to set him on fire. She clenched her fists at her side as Rouge glared as well. "Who said anything about joining?! I'm going to become a Knight that can save everyone! I don't care how corrupt the kingdom is, We'll keep fighting till we fix everything!"

Rouge snorted as he pawed at the snow in agitation. How dare the man say that to them! The fire of his mane flared up as he glared down at the man. "I bet I could be better than you. We've been training all are lives with my father so I believe we could beat you." Joey's gaze didn't waver, she truly believed she could take him on.

For a second, Hanzoku didn't really understand why she was so angry. He understood why they were corrupt, and she seemed to understand as well. Where was her logic? Shift frowned as he thought about how poorly they treated Hanzoku, not telling him what happened to his family.

But all was changed when the woman spoke of being able to take on Hanzoku. He laughed immediately, almost falling over into the snow. Shadow walked over to the Rapidash, as well as Shift, as they prepared to watch the show. Joey may not have known it, but she just challenged the trainer to a fight.

Hanzoku halted his laughter to finally draw his sword from under his jacket. She was lucky it wasn't his gun. With the demonic arm, he raised the heavy and oversized sword with ease. "You better be able to prove it, then, missy." he said challengingly. "I wonder if he plans to fight her, or just scare her?" Shift wondered, thinking it was possible that Hanzoku would just toy with her.

Joey's anger instantly fled as she watched him pull out his sword. She watched calmly as he raised the large sword. She lifted her right arm and pulled her own sward from her back. She gripped the hilt with both hands as she spread into a steadier stance.
"Always." Her eyes shown with determination as she waited for him to make his first move. All those years of testing her strength against Rouge's was about to come to fruition. Rouge snorted as he watched to two. He was certain she would show the man how serious she was about being a Knight.

Hanzoku smirked as she pulled her sword out. However, what truly made him happy was that he had the first move...The first opportunity to show that she didn't need those knights, as a lot of what he knew was based on his personal development. Not even the knights would be brave enough to do what he was going to do.

Hanzoku dashed forward one time, leaping toward Joey. He threw his sword like a boomerang in a way that made it seem as if it was going to hit Joey if she didn't move away. However, the sword stopped, planting it's blade into the earth as Hanzoku motioned to punch Joey with his fist. The sword served as a distraction for the true attack.

Joey carefully watched the man as she waited for him to make the first move. This way she would get an idea on his fighting style. When he jumped forward things seemed to jump into sharp focus. She could hear his blade slice through the air as it came toward her.

She shifted her foot back and down as she slammed the top of her blade into the ground. As his own blade sank into the ground and his fist came at her she pushed off. With her hands still on the hilt of her sword she swung up and around to kick at him.

It was nothing impressive yet. Hanzoku hadn't even started. She dodged the attack and managed to attempt a kick aimed at Hanzoku, but with a small twist of his body as he dashed forward, grabbing his sword on his way, he dodged the attack, headed past Joey, but not without attempting to grab a handful of her shirt along the way in order to throw her in front of him. Hanzoku had a strong attack and defend policy implied in his fighting. While most people focus on one at a time, it was good to catch them off guard when they were on the offensive, which seemed to be the case in this moment.
