Life was a harsh, cruel, game. It was no different for this dark, rainy day. The clouds were think above making the earth cool as the rain had been off and on all day. It had caused most of the creatures and homeless to scatter to find shelter from the unforgiving skies. It was no exception for the young, almost white headed man sitting huddled up in the sewage way.
Adam had spent a bit of time in the rain, using it to his advantage to help gain pity from the city people. It had given him enough to fill his stomach before he found he was too wet and cold to continue. Being on the outskirts of the city and too far away from his usual shelter. So he had searched out another means of shelter, happening a large opening leading into the sewage. It looked like one of the many spots where the swage was dumped out of the city. Across the entrance had been a wired fish net, most likely to keep humans and pokemon out. Though parts of it had been curled in almost looking as if someone had pulled them back a long time ago. Adam had managed to squeeze through the wired fish net and was sitting just inside the system, his bright blue eyes looking out into the sky.
In a few hours the sky would become even darker with night and hopefully by then the rain would stop. He didn’t much feel like sitting in the sewage tunnel for long. Though as long as it kept raining he doubted the energy he had to go out to do a job would return anytime soon.

Kit hopped across the ground, arms extended about shoulder height and held out away from her body, her hat in her sling pack and her goggles pressed firmly shut over her eyes. Kitsune followed close to the girl who was humming off-key to herself. She paused and let her arms drop to her side. She glanced up at the sky, smiling slightly. Rain was the only form of water that she was okay with. Right now, it felt amazing, running down her face and neck.
"Mmm Kitsune!" The girl said suddenly, looking down at the Pokemon with a silly grin, "Dontcha just love the rain!?"
The Pokemon blinked and shot an irritated look at Kit. The girl had let everyone else return to their Pokeballs but her. Kitsune was RARELY in her Pokeball, but when it was raining...well she figured that the Pokeball would be a nice safe place.
Kit laughed at the expression Kitsune was giving her. That laughter exploded into a hysterical shriek of laughter as Kitsune tackled the girl. They rolled down a hill, coming to a stop at the bottom, Kitsune easily pinning the tiny girl beneath her.
Kit laughed again and wrapped both arms around the Pokemon's neck. "I love you Kitsune!" She said happily, sitting up and looking around. The first thing she noticed was some fishing net over a hole...and a nasty smell. "...Peachy..." She grumbled, standing up and pushing her goggles to her forehead, glaring at the hole. Of all the places for a sewer...right next to where she was playing with Kitsune...dumb architects.

Another day without a catch, and it would soon rain. Then again, maybe the smell of the rain would be enough to clear the stench of the sewers? "This place really smells like-" began Shift, Hanzoku's Zorua. "Wow, could you be any more obvious, bro?" interrupted the ninja-like Riolu, Shadow. Zorua flashed a glare at Shadow that was meant to be playful, but came off much more fierce that he intended. Zorua took a step forward, and Shadow took a two steps back. Before he knew it, the fox was chowing down on Riolu's large ear, struggling to keep him pinned down.
Hanzoku, sitting on a set of stairs opposite of where Adam would enter, watched the two as they rough-housed each other. He would have even seen Riolu quail the playing with a Roundhouse kick, if he hadn't been distracted by the arrival of two others. In any other situation, he would have greeted them and maybe engage in some small talk, but today it was just a sigh and an attempt to ignore it by looking down at his feet. He scratched the back of his head with his demon-gloved hand in frustration. Of all the Pokemon who could've appeared, instead, a couple of humans arrived. One seemed to be traveling with a Pokemon, but he was no thief. Even Shadow and Shift weren't completely thrilled, though they weren't nearly as frustrated.
"One day, more Pokemon will appear than I can ever hope to catch in a life time....." he joked to himself. "....I hope.."

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Adam’s eyes suddenly narrowed with annoyance when the sound of laughter hit his ears. Those icy blue eyes then slowly lowered themselves from the sky finding there way to the source of the laughter. A silver haired … woman? Yes, defiantly a woman by the voice… with goggles and a ninetales. He already didn’t like them. Why? Because he was in a miserable mood and therefore he figured everyone should be. That was the kind of person Adam was today. The day before he might have not cared. Heck, in an hour or two he might not even care. But at the moment he did.
For a half a second Adam almost decided to stand up so he could march over and bite one of them. However, that was quickly washed out of his mind as heard yet another sound. This was the sound of two pokemon fighting. Or at least… complaining. It was enough to cause Adam to turn his head to look down at the two who seemed to be struggling with each other. He was actually surprised to see the two hanging around a sewer. For half a second he almost thought about catching the Zorua as he had a deep love for dark type pokemon. However his icy eyes sadly caught sight of another man sitting on a pair of steps on the other side of the sewer. He was a little shocked to see the other human and for a moment wondered how long he had been there for. Either way, he figured the two pokemon fighting belong to him. That was disappointing.
Well, it was time to take his anger out on these two new humans. He didn’t have the energy to steal the Ninetails but… Very slowly, the almost white haired boy stood, picking up a rather large rock as he straightened his body. Once again his eyes fell on the man across the sewer from him. Adam gave him a rather sly grin before suddenly turning and pulling a bit of the fish net wire aside. Without warning he tossed the rock at Kit and her Ninetales. He didn’t say anything as he watched the rock fly towards them.

Kit stretched and turned away from the sewer with a shrug. "I vote we go somewhere less stinky Kitsune!" She declared, taking a step away from the sewer.
Kitsune let out a happy little bark (?) and turned, following Kit. Neither of them noticed the rock until it knocked straight into Kit's back. The girl stumbled forward with a startled cry, tripping over a tree branch. She hit the ground hard, the wind knocked out of her.
Kitsune spun around the second Kit had cried. Her hackles were raised and she was snarling at the sewer. That was the only place the rock could have come from without warning after all. "NINE!" She cried.

Wess was following Kit carefully... Well, more like Blair was following Kit, with Wess propped on her shoulder. The little boy let out a shriek of terror when he saw his beloved twin toppling into a sewer. He had no choice to follow her, squealing as Beartic moved closer to the sewer.
Wess felt like he was going to belch. The stench of feces and urine was unbecoming, but when he saw something, or whatever it was, hit Kit, Wess grew extremely fierce, shouting, "Who hurt Kit?!" Glowering around, the darkness kept him from seeing anyone in particular, and Blair couldn't smell anyone for the stupefying stench.
Calling out his Tropius in a flash of white light, a sweet scent immediately replaced the smell, although it was a downer that it would draw Pokemon. Blair seemed to catch the scent of someone, as she turned her head in the direction of the man who had thrown the rock. She couldn't see him, but she knew he was there. A sudden chill overcame the place, as a spring of snow began to fall in place of rain, while the entrance to the sewer froze over.

Hanzoku could only hope it would get quiet again..At least quiet enough to hear Pokemon in the distance. That was all he really cared about...But then he felt a shift in placement. Keeping his head still relatively low, he looked over at Adam, since that was where he felt it. He could just barely see him grabbing a couple of stones. "Hmmm..." his eyes stayed focused. Something was off...And just as he figured, it was off.
A stone came hurdling toward him. Of course, Hanzoku was a highly trained ex-Knight. Adam would have to try so much harder if he wanted to hurt him. However, Hanzoku's next actions were way over the top for the situation. Instead of grabbing the stone in mid-air, which he could have, he stood up with a spin, grabbing his gun from his holster with his demon-gloved hand and aimed upward and in front of his face. He fired a bullet, scattering the rock into chips of its former self. At the same time, Shift and Shadow ended their horseplay and stood by Hanzoku's side as protection, knowing he would never fire his gun without reason.
"Something you'd like to say?" he asked challengingly as he aimed his gun between Adam's eyes. Hanzoku's eyes narrowed, matching his annoyed state, but instantly relaxed when the Sweet Scent hit the air. It was strong, but it didn't completely mask the foul odor of the sewers, in his opinion. It sort of just made it sweeter. If it wasn't for the fact that Hanz wanted to focus on the threat, he would have looked back to see who started it. Even Shift and Shadow were finding it difficult not to run straight toward it. Even when the smell of the sewers lingered, it was enticing to the Pokemon.

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Adam gave a half scuffed chuckle as he watched his first rock hit the little girl in the back. He found it quite funny to watch her fall flat on her face. His second tossed rock hadn’t gone as well though. The man across from him in the sewer had managed to pull out a gun. That had been something Adam hadn’t been expecting at all. Luckily, the young white haired man had learned to deal with guns before.
There were two things to remember about Adam. First and most importantly, he wasn’t sane at the lest. If Era was in better shape, Adam would have defiantly ended up in a mental institution a very, very long time ago. Though he could actually think clearly, his usual actions did not show it very often. The second thing to remember about Adam was that he was an assassin. In fact, he was one of the best around. Most likely it was because he didn’t think like most people would. He also had no fear of death. He had grown up being told he was a mistake. His birth had been nothing more but a reason to cause pain to his mother and the people around him. He believed he was better off dead and so his entire life he waited for it. Yet no one could ever seem to end it. It wasn’t like he was going to just give it up. No, the challenge was a thrill. Now… back to the current story.
Adam instantly froze upon seeing the gun aimed straight for him. A rather sly, nasty grin fell onto his features however it didn’t stick for long. The sent of a rather sweat smell hit his sense causing him to look back out of sewer towards Kit. There was a boy and two other pokemon there now. It seemed the smell was coming from the Tropius who was standing by the young boy, Wess. Wess was on top of a rather large ice type pokemon, a Beartic. The smile on Adam’s face quickly faded as he saw the Beartic use what he believed was a blizzard attack. The snow from the attack seemed to cling to the webbed wire covering the entrance of the sewer and froze it shut. It left Adam standing in the dark, unsure if the gun was still pointed at him or not.
Still not saying a word, Adam slowly and quietly reached down to grab a pokeball from his pocket. With a flash of light, a small Umbreon appeared, his blue rings giving off a faint light and filling up the sewer. Adam’s icy blue eyes then turned to look back at Hanzoku to check if the gun was still being pointed at him. As for Kit and Wess? Well, Adam wasn’t sure what had happened to them yet. The entrance of the Sewer was still blocked by the ice and snow. They could still be outside or they could have run away. Either way, Wess’s pokemon had attacked him. Adam couldn’t let his guard down in case it somehow got through the ice wall and attacked again. Throwing the rocks hadn’t been a good idea, but then… when was any of Adam’s ideas good?

Kit snarled as soon as her lungs re-inflated. She stumbled to her feet, leaning on Kitsune, blue eyes flashing. "That hurt!" She snarled, eyes slightly unfocused as she turned to look back at the sewer.
The first thing she noticed, was that the sewer entrance was frozen shut. The adrenline that had rushed through her blood when she'd fallen after the rock hit, faded slightly and she straightened up, looking for the source of the sudden chill.
The next thing she noticed was a Beartic...and a familiar boy. "Wess!" She cried, blinking back surprise as she hurried over to him, left arm wrapped around to her back so she could gingerly rub the spot the rock had hit her in. "Wha-...why-..." The girl frowned and coughed, unable to properly phrase any sort of question. She shot another look at the sewer, eyes narrowed. "You froze it..."

"Yes, Kit. It's stinky, and there are bad people down there. I don't want you hurt!" Blair was still pumping a chill around them, and perhaps into water drains, where the cold began to freeze the water into thin sheets before cracking, and heading back down the sewer once more.
Terry in the meantime, pumped several scents down into other sewer openings, luring wild Pokemon around where the man had attacked Kit. Ben, in the meanwhile, seemed to be positioning himself directly over the sewer. One wrong move could result in an Earthquake launched their way.
Wess sniffled as he led Kit to the Tropius, trying to get her on the dinosaur's back. Turning to the base of Terry's neck, he picked off of a fruit, and offered it to his sister. "Eat it, it will make you feel better!~"

Kit took the fruit and bit into it, staring at the sewer thoughtfully. "I'm not hurt Wess." She said, savoring the sweet fruit juice that ran down her throat, "Dontcha think it's cold in there?"
She cast a sideways glance towards her brother and sat down, stuffing the rest of the fruit in her mouth and patting Kitsune absentmindedly.

As darkness consumed the sewer, the temperature dropped, sending Hanzoku and his Pokemon into a bit of a chill. The white-haired trainer was still too focused to turn around and see what the commotion was, but damn was he pissed. Cold weather was NOT his thing. He kept his gun raised, though...Shaking, but raised.
Shift ran ahead while the light was out to get a glimpse of the two outside of the sewer. He could just barely see a Tropius helping the goggled woman and a boy on a Beartic, though he couldn't be sure on what the Pokemon were. They appeared as silhouettes through the ice. So that's where the problem and sweet scent stemmed from. Now that the situation's danger level was escalating, Shift really didn't like what this boy had in mind. He narrowed his eyes at him and told him condescendingly, "What the hell are you doing? Attracting Wild Pokemon and freeze us in with someone dangerous? Why don't you risk your own life next time?" Shadow nodded in agreement, as did Hanzoku, who was struggling to see his opponent, until the light returned. Luckily, Riolu were known to see Aura, so he would be able to keep his trainer alert for him, whether the light was out or not.
When the Umbreon was visible, Riolu locked eyes with it. "You look like a tough opponent." he said with an almost friendly grin.

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Very slowly Adam lowered his head upon seeing that the gun was still pointed at him. His long, almost white hair fell over his face as he simply stood there. He didn’t speak. He didn’t move from his spot. He just stood. It was hard to tell if he had just surrendered or was thinking something through.
Kuu, Adam’s Umbreon, was rather confused as to why they were stuck in a smelly tunnel with a man holding a gun towards his master. He was even more confused when the Riolu claimed he looked like a taught opponent. <‘I… I’m not a fighter.’> Kuu claimed, looking over at the Riolu, <‘An actor if you please.’> He gave a small bow of his head. He would have said more but Adam suddenly raised an arm, setting a finger on his lips and softly making a “Shhhh” sound towards Kuu. He then removed his finger from his lips and pointed towards the ice wall. Adam hadn’t needed to tell what Kuu what he wanted him to do. The pokemon understood completely, though he did worry about the man holding the gun. Wasn’t Adam afraid of being shot? Actually, what worried Kuu was whether or not Adam was aware that the man could shoot him. Adam wasn’t… well… his mind wasn’t always all there.
Turning away from the all, Kuu leaped up into the air, his tail forming a steal like substance around it as he used an Iron Tail attack on the ice barrier. It was enough to shatter the ice, causing it to fall to the ground and allowing the day light back in. The wire across the entrance looked a little more beat up then it already was but it had managed to stay in place even after the attack. Once the barrier was down a very small smile crossed Adam’s face. He still hadn’t moved an inch from his spot or spoken a single word.
Now with the barrier down and the light back everything could be seen clearly again. Kit and Wess were still outside with their pokemon. Hanzoku’s Zorua seemed to be out there too. Hanzoku was still in the sewer with his other pokemon, the gun held up to Adam. [/scrolly] [bg=beige] |

Wess narrowed his eyes. Were they trying to get themselves killed? With an angry glare towards their way, Beartic, using her superpower attack, slammed her foot into the base of the opening, causing a cave in which untimely blocked it. In the meantime, Ben charmed in with an ice beam, refreezing the entrance. So basically, now it was pitch dark, save for the eerie pink glow from the immense amount of sweet scent Terry was pouring into the sewer, and the nearest exit had been covered by rubble, while the rubble froze over.
