"And I'll never understand why you don't like it, sis," Holly replied with a laugh.
"Honestly, when we got together, what? Five, six years ago? I never would have dreamed we'd make it as big as Grass Ice and Fire has. But I wouldn't change anything if I had the choice."
The guitarist made a funny face at Trish's last statement. "Trish? That's a little extreme in my book. Yeah...I'm not touching that one." She gave a light shudder, though all the while thinking of exactly what she'd say to Mason; if she had her way, she was going to call him tonight--and pray to every god out there that he didn't change his number.

Trish chuckled along with Holly's laugh. "Well, I think we're both better off not understanding, frankly. We're happy where we are, right?"
She smiled at Holly's next statement. "I wouldn't change anything, either." Much as Trish had always been uninterested in being famous, the opportunity to have so many people enjoy something she had had a hand in made her happy. Besides, changing something might mean she wouldn't end up sitting here, with the last person she expected to want anything to do with her as a best friend.
Holly's reaction to her statement about proposals and shrines was priceless. Trish let out a small snort, and put a hand over her mouth to stop herself from cracking up. "I'm sorry, but you should really see your expression, girly." She knew she was being horrible but...that look. "I'm just quoting stereotypes. I don't really think..."
The 'about to laugh' mood faded fairly quickly, however, and she touched Holly's shoulder, looking apologetic. Trish sometimes forgot that her best friend's sense of humour didn't entirely overlap with her own. "I really am sorry. You can get me back for that one however you want." She'd consider trying to return the favour on the setting-up front, but Trish didn't exactly know many people that Holly didn't, at least not people who weren't about as creepy as she was.

Holly let out a good long laugh. "No, it's fine. You're just lucky I love you like a sister." She smiled, but suddenly the mood was broken by what could only be described as the inevitable.
"Oh, Dude! It's Holly Marxx!"
"Shit..." Holly muttered, though probably only loud enough for Trish to hear. And it wasn't something Holly usually said.
"Yeah, I am," she said, putting on a fake smile.
"I knew it. What do ya say you and me--"
"Nope, sorry. Can't."
"But you--" Reaching into her purse, Holly pulled out a copy of their first ever CD, "Grass Ice and Fire" and signed it before handing it to the man.
"There ya go. I'm with a friend tonight, so settle for my autograph, kay?"
Nodding, the man turned and went away, muttering about not getting laid.

Trish just smiled when Holly laughed. You hardly needed to tell her she was lucky. Of course, Trish had seen what happened next coming, honestly surprised it had taken this long.
The dark girl's expression was deadpan through the entire exchange. Had the man actually been looking in her direction, he would have met a disturbingly icy glare. Jealous boyfriends had nothing on Trish's 'you are interrupting a sisterly moment' stare, and she didn't even know she was doing it. Not that she was actually all that annoyed, given her nature, but her eyes had a life of their own some days.
"You know," Trish said as soon as he was gone, reaching for her drink again, "I said I felt sorry for your admirers but...was he particularly forward, or am I just old-fashioned?" Trish sipped her drink, her eyes flicking to where the man was long out of earshot. Men tended to at least tell Trish their name before trying to get her to leave with them.

"Yeah...real charmer, that one," Holly said dryly, shaking her head. "If he's the only one tonight, I'll be happy. Anyways, we should probably talk a little about your possible upcoming date. I'd have to call Mason though, and hope all goes well, but if he'll talk to me, I'm sure you two will hit it off."
Holly gave the girl a smile; she didn't know why she wanted those two together so bad. But it seemed perfect, right? They had to hit it off well, just because in Holly's mind, they were made for each other.

Trish chuckled and shook her head. "Oh, fine, as much as I've tried to get your mind off it." The smile slipped from her face as she stared at her glass and took another sip before putting it down. To most, her expression would seem neutral, but Trish knew Holly would catch the uncertainty in her eyes.
"I'm...not doubting he'll forgive you. If he's anything like me, he forgave you a long time ago. I just...You really think he'd like me?" Trish knew she wasn't unattractive, as the number of men she'd already been with attested, but she wasn't exactly as pretty as Holly was. Not that she usually gave a care in the slightest, but right now it seemed like it actually mattered. "I mean, you know I'm a little..." She twirled a finger next to her temple in the symbol for 'crazy.' It was more accurate to say she acted crazy, but she didn't really have an on/off switch for acting like a superstitious nut anymore.

Holly caught the look in her eyes. "There's no need to worry. I know he'll like you. In fact, if you want, I can go make the call right now and set you two up."
She smiled, though Trish may catch the look of nervousness in those bright blue eyes. Holly really hoped Mason would forgive her. And go on a date with her best friend.

Trish picked up her drink, still not smiling, and Holly might see the way her eyes seemed to widen just a little at the offer. She'd caught the hint of nervousness from Holly easily, and it really wasn't making her feel any better about this idea. "You don't have to do that," she said quietly, looking at the glass instead of her best friend. She took a sip. "I mean...I'm curious but...you don't have...to call right now."
Trish's black-painted fingernails tapped lightly on the glass in time to the beat of the current song playing, until she suddenly looked up at Holly again and put it down. "Does he train pokemon?" she asked. She imagined the question came out of nowhere from Holly's perspective, and, admittedly, trying to explain the train of thought that had led to it would be difficult. Trish found herself needing to ask nonetheless.

Holly smiled. "You know I'll have to eventually. But that can wait. He does; Mason loves Dark Types, Rock Types, Steel types, anything tough-looking and intimidating. I remember he always wanted a Tyranitar. I wonder if he's got one yet..."
Then, Holly face-palmed, reaching into her purse and pulling out a picture of her and Mason. "Here. It's about eight years old, but it should give you an idea." She handed the picture to Trish. "You can keep that, if you want. I have a whole album at home, heh."

Trish nodded a little when Holly described Mason's taste in pokemon, her smirk finding its way back into place. It was different than her own, though not altogether incompatible; she liked scary, but she preferred the unnerving, shadowy type rather than the appearance of pure, brute strength. Dark types were great, though, if not as appealing to her as ghost types. Now at least Trish knew they'd have something to talk about.
She looked the photo and chuckled faintly; she now had photographic proof that Holly had always been too adorable for words. Then she let herself look at the man in the photo, and one of her brows arched. That was her twin brother? What mix of DNA had resulted in cute little Holly and him? Trish tilted the picture downward so she couldn't see it anymore, and then looked back up at Holly with a glitter in her eyes and a smile.
"If he's aged in anything close to the way I'm imagining, you are going to be picking my eyes up off the ground. Guarantee you, girly." Trish had always liked the tall, dark, and handsome type. Looking a little more relaxed now, she added in a calm tone, "I'm not gonna stop you from making that call now. If you want to." That was Trish-style excitement for you.

Holly gave a laugh; for some reason Trish's low-emotion reactions always amused the blue-haired, blue eyed guitarist. But Holly knew full well her best friend was excited, even if it was something very few could pick up on.
"I'll go take care of that. You enjoy gawking at the picture while I go take care of this," she teased, inwardly hoping that the other side of this match-up would work.
Slipping outside, the woman pulled out her phone, and dialed Mason's number, hoping it was the same that it had always been.
"Hello?" A quiet, yet deep voice answered on the other line. "Mace?" The voice on the other line seemed to brighten a bit. "Holly? Is that you? It's been...how long?" "Too long, that's how long. Look, bro. I'm sorry for what I did all those years ago. I should have done this sooner, but I was afraid..." "It's fine, sis. So was I." What? Mason Marxx!?! Afraid of something? Holly's jaw dropped.
The two siblings seemed to go on for ages, catching up on old times, when Holly finally managed to add.
"There's another reason I called. I kiiiinda told our drummer I'd see about getting you two a date. ....PLEASE tell me you're available..."
"You're hooking me up with Trisha Walker?" "You know her then?" "I do keep track of my sister's band. I'm not a total asshole, after all. She seems like my kinda date. Give her my number and we'll work something out."
Wow...that actually worked! Holly was so happy and ecstatic, she wasn't paying attention through the rest of the call. Not only had Mason forgiven her, her plan to hook Trish up with him was working! After hanging up, the woman practically ran inside, grinning from ear to ear as she rejoined Trish.
"He said yes! He wants you to call him so you two can make the date official." Taking the picture she'd given Trish, she wrote Mason's number rather neatly on the back of it.

Trish chuckled a little bit at the word 'gawking', and probably would have stuck her tongue out in a more private setting. She didn't look at the photo again, though, instead reaching for her drink and sipping it gingerly, her fingernails starting to drum on the glass.
Good God, what had she done? This was crazy. Trish didn't date. She was the girl in the corner who hummed to herself or had her nose in her book. She was the strange girl at the end of the bar who nursed a single drink all night until someone tried their luck in approaching her. Oh, this was so far out of her element it was ridiculous.
It felt like an eternity until Holly came racing in with a smile, and Trish put the glass down, looking about as calm as ever. She perked up a little as Holly gave the report, and there was a very distinct smile, even if it was small compared to Holly's, on Trish's face as the photo was taken from her. Of course, there was the little fact that the goth-girl still had to talk to this guy over the phone, but that was overridden by her excitement. He said yes! Whee!
"I know I already said it tonight, but you're amazing, girly." And I'll resist the urge to claim an 'I told you so' regarding him forgiving you. Trish sighed lightly. "Wish I could do something to thank you," she admitted quietly.

Holly grinned, finishing her drink and shaking her head. "Nothing. You don't have to do anything. I did this for both of you." She sort of spun on her barstool, feeling giddy. Which was odd considering she wasn't the one going on the date.
Gathering her composure, she smiled at Trish. "Now, we need to get you ready for that date. And I'm here for any moral support~"

Trish smirked a little. Whatever. I'll figure something out, and you're not stopping me. What Holly said next, however, caused her to quirk a brow. "Get me ready? Dare I even ask what you're talking about?" She twirled the photo with the phone number in her hand idly. How had the two of them chatting on the docks turn into Trish having a date?
"And I'm not wearing a skirt," she added simply, taking another sip of her drink. Not that that really needed to be said.

"Oh, right. I'm the only one that buys new stuff just for a date. I'm just teasin' ya, sis." Holly grinned.
Honestly, the woman had no idea how it got from a chat on the docks to hooking Trish up with Mace.
"I know, no skirt. Mason loves dark colors, so you should be good there."

Trish just chuckled and shook her head. Yeah, no, no shopping for new clothes for a first date. Maybe for later dates, if they actually happened. Maybe. Holly wasn't going to turn her best friend into a lover of shopping any time soon.
At the next comment, Trish actually thought about her clothing for a second. Holly probably would know what her brother liked, as strange as it was to be having this kind of conversation, especially here. "Actually...you know those black denim shorts I showed you once that I never wear? I have these black and red striped stockings I also never wear..." It'd be showing off the shape of legs without actually showing skin, and no skirts involved. Perfect.

"Yeah, I know the ones," she answered, then added, "Ooooh, shows off the figure without showing skin. I like the way you think." Then she faked a gasp, putting her hand on her mouth.
"Trisha Walker? Showing off her figure? I think I'm starting to rub off on you," she teased, winking. If this went according to plan, this date would be the best thing Holly ever set up.

Trish simply couldn't hold back the eye roll."Yeah, yeah, laugh it up, girly, but if you'd known me when I was sixteen, you wouldn't be so surprised." Her evolution into her current form had been a gradual process, after all. There was a photograph of her from the aforementioned year's Halloween with black hair, wearing what looked some kind of twisted version of a fairy princess costume (which had a -gasp- skirt, albeit a spiderweb-patterned one) and carrying a plastic scythe. And Holly was never going to see it or know it existed.
Trish looked down at her lap and ran a fingernail along her thigh for a moment as she considered it. "You do think it'd look good, though?" she asked, meeting Holly's eyes. Trish didn't even realize she was starting to blush a bit. Asking anyone, especially polar-opposite-from-her Holly, about fashion was just felt so weird.

Holly giggled, then gave a nod. "I do, really." Smiling, she looked over at her best friend. "I don't exactly remember how our little night out turned into getting you a date, but I hope you two enjoy yourselves." Holly meant that in the most innocent way possible, of course.
Her eyes scanned the club. Thank Arceus not many people recognized her in this lighting...

Yeah, sure, I'll enjoy myself it I can get the Butterfree out of my stomach, Trish thought to herself, not even really touching on the sexual meaning of it. She was still half-thinking how she'd dress, specifically whether she wanted to wear her hair up or down. "Yeah, funny how conversations take on a life of their own sometimes."
When Holly glanced away to scan the club, however, a lightbulb went off as Trish's thoughts drifted to something...or rather someone. Maybe it was because of her desire to get the attention off of her and not think about the upcoming phone call, or maybe it was because conversations taking on a life of their own was vaguely related to her last interaction with said person, but the idea had entered her mind and now she had to say something.
"You know, I think I just figured out how to thank you, girly," Trish said, a smirk on her lips and a rare mischevious look in her eye. "I know a girl who I think you'd really like. She's a real partier."
