Not His Own. (Felis/Open)

Such a dreary day his birthday would be. Some claimed that having no sun on one’s birthday was a sign of good luck. Lance wasn’t certain if he believed that myth but he did hope for a smidge of good luck. He was returning to the Forest Castle for the second time. Just over two weeks had already passed since his last visit. He hadn’t meant it to take so long but he found he had gotten himself caught up in a few things. Today he had made sure to completely clear his schedule. He would force himself to spend more time with Rosa and his brother. It was a sign of caring. He justified his act around Felis as a simple act of using him. Yet deep down, somewhere hidden in that icy cold heart of his, he did care a bit about his brother. He just couldn’t seem to admit that to himself. Lance stood just outside the castle gate, his dark blue eyes gazing up at the building as he hesitated going inside. After what seemed like a good five minutes or so, he finally made up his mind and slipped in, his heavy boots clicking on the sidewalk as he moved. It was late enough that most of the people around for the festival had already left and so the castle grounds felt rather empty. Lance stood out like a sour thumb as neared the steps to the castle. He was dressed in dark blue today, with the usual fancy collar around his neck and matching sleeves. Now he just hoped that Felis and his dear little Rosa were actually home. [/scrolly] [bg=black]

The day had been long, and there had been quite a lot of excitement to say the very least of it. However, a good few hours earlier, Felis had taken Rosa inside. The prior had gone and was working on balancing some sort of checkbook if one could call it that while the latter had gone to her room to play until it was time for bed. Time had passed slowly in this instance, yet Felis didn't even realize it till he looked up at the clock from his study and found himself blinking slowly at it. Since when had time shifted so? Sighing a bit, the blond put down his paperwork and stood up stretching stiffly. He'd been sitting too long and knew it. Resiting the urge to yawn, Felis stretched a bit more and then slowly stepped out of his study and into the hallway. He wasn't sure of whether or not Tim and Tai had gone home or if they had planned to stay at the castle longer or possibly crash there for the night. Either way, he was fine with it. He was pretty sure Miguel was somewhere about the castle if not out somewhere around it. That left the two girls, Elayne and Rosa. He knew the latter was probably still in her room but was unsure of the prior at that moment in time. Anyways, he really did need to get dinner going.... However, a ding on the doorbell caused Felis to stop in mid step. In another second, a roar of feet running down the steps could suddenly be heard as Rosa dashed down the stairs more or less determined to beat anyone and everyone to the door. "I'll get it!" was the shout that echoed in the air from Rosa's lungs. Felis breathed outwards a bit quietly before finally changing direction and slowly walking towards the front door as well. Rosa had been playing for quite some time alone in her room save for her three favorite pokemon of today at least: Dash, Annie, and Ion. However, she had been growing a tad bored in the last hour or so, and as soon as her ears had clasped the sound of the doorbell, she had suddenly perked up rather quickly and came charging down the stairs of her tower to see who it was. Maybe Kitty had come back to play?! Thus she had shouted to all that she was getting the door and had managed to somehow beat both her butlers (if they were in fact in the castle). Seizing the door knob, Rosa pulled at it and swung said door open after a few seconds only to stop and stare at who was there. For a brief few seconds, Rosa just stared, and why she could not move, not even Rosa herself was sure of. However, after these moments had passed, Rosa suddenly broke into a huge grin. "LANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" was the shout that once again vibrated the walls of the castle, and in another moment, Rosa had made a flying leap towards her older brother making to cling to him as quickly as she could. Elayne had been in her room drawing a scene that had come to mind, it was a rendition of the performance she had done earlier that day with Lily. For some reason Elayne couldn't quite get that out of her mind, the ballroom atmosphere that it had created and had wondered if the leaves were really dancers after all. Elayne had been putting on the finishing touches of a close up of what appeared to be two very leaf-like dancers when she heard Rosa's shout and looked up, curious as to why the girl was so excited this late in the evening. Setting the drawing aside, Elayne stood and walked down the hallway towards the entry hall just in time to see Rosa jump into an older man's arms. Surprised at this reaction from Rosa, Elayne stayed where she was, smiling slightly at seeing the young girl so happy even if she didn't recognize the older man....but then why would he be coming here at this time?

Elly looked up when Elayne left the room and jumped off the bed, trotting after her trainer with ease and was soon in the entryway where she could see Rosa leaping into another person's arms. The Espeon could feel Elayne's shock and was instantly leery of the newcomer but wouldn't act on this until she knew more...as of right now, it was best to watch and wait.

As the steps had started, it seemed that another pair of feet had been going towards it too. Tai had burst out of his room and was flying towards the door as fast as he could, but was beat by Rosa. DX He stopped and watched the girl freak out about a Lance. ._. Yeah.. that sounded familiar. Oh! They're brother was assigned to him, once he felt better! Tai rushed over to finally see the face of who would be the boss of their brother. They could tell him about Lance once they met later on. Tai had a bit of purple paint on him, and was holding a brush. ^^ It seemed that he was painting his room, but had still rushed to see who was here.

Slowly but surely, Tim peeked through the door and looked at everyone. ._. Tai almost spilled all of the paint running like that! Not to mention that he had pushed Tim's hand in the paint. He walked to a bathroom and began washing it off. Tai continued to just watch Lance and smiled. If Rosa liked him, he was nice, right? ^_^

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] He had been expecting a maid, a butler or some other form of a servant to answer the door. Perhaps even Felis himself. Yet it was none of the above. Instead Lance Rossi found himself staring down at his dear, little Rosa. After a few seconds he felt her body weight hit his body as tiny arms wrapped around him. It caused a small smile to fix it’s self on his lips as he looked down at the top of her head. “Hello Rosa.” was the clam reply that slipped out of his mouth before he looked up again. His dark blue pupils scanned what he could see of the main hall from the doorway he stood in. He could see two people from where he stood. One, a woman standing in the entry hall and a younger man who Lance assumed was Felis’s and Rosa’s butler. He couldn’t see Felis anywhere and hadn’t spotted the second butler just yet. “May I come in?” He asked after a moment, his eyes falling back down to Rosa. He was rather happy it had been her who had answered the door. Now there was absolutely no way Felis or anyone else living in the castle could turn him away. At least not without upsetting he beloved Rosa. Surely none of them would want to upset such a beautiful flower in bloom. Not anyone who wouldn’t have to go through himself first, at any rate. He wanted to come in! He wanted to stay? Well... he wanted to come in! "Of course silly!" she accidentally squeaked as her voice chipped just a tad in excitement. He'd said he'd come back hadn't he? Hadn't he? Yes there wasn't any doubt! "Welcome home welcome home!" he voice then chimed before Rosa seemed to notice that there were others in the hallway as well. Her head looked back and saw Tai and Elayne. "Guys! Lance is home!" Rosa grinned. Just then, the sound of feet could be heard as Felis finally turned the corner into the front hallway/room, yet as soon as his eyes had turned and set themselves on his eldest brother and younger sister, Felis found himself freeze for a good few seconds. He mentally kicked himself, he did, for not having gotten there before Rosa to meet-... this. Somewhere in the back of his mind, Felis even blamed Tai a little wondering if he had opened the door too quickly or something. In all cases, Felis found himself breathing out quietly and walking over to step just past Elayne whom he did notice was in the vicinity as well. Just before he passed her, Felis brought a hand and set it on Elayne's shoulder for a moment before he walked forawrds. "Hello, big brother," Felis stated as he managed to keep his voice level. It was then that Felis questioned the date and suddenly realized possibly why Lance was there. Felis... had always been good with remembering birthdays, heh....Just ask Elayne, heh.... "....Happy birthday, Lance," Felis finally half smiled. [/scrolly]

Elayne stood there watching Rosa's excited greeting and put one arm over her chest, feeling as if she shouldn't be here right now. Elayne was thinking about leaving then and there when Rosa looked at her and the butler that had entered the room and announced that Lance was back. Smiling slightly, Elayne looked at Rosa and nodded, wondering where Felis was at that moment before she felt a hand on her shoulder and looked over to see the man in question. Feeling oddly relieved at his presence, Elayne took a deep breath, not realizing that she had been holding it in before. When Felis called Lance his big brother, Elayne blinked and looked back at the man, perhaps that was why he looked so familiar before...
"Hello...."Elayne said in a rather quiet voice before hearing Felis' next words,"Happy Birthday."

Elly sat next to Elayne, swishing her tail back and forth as she continued to study Lance. It appeared that this was Felis' older brother, and he had appeared on his own birthday too....that was a little too much of a coincidence but she wasn't going to say anything against Lance.

Tai was smiling as he watched Lance and Rosa. Yeah, he had to be an amazing guy for Rosa to be that happy over him... She didn't even act that happy when Tai came over nowadays. He felt like he was being too boring for little Rosa. He wished he could find some way to make her happy like she was before, but he didn't worry about that right now. He seemed shocked as he heard Felis's words. "Happy Birthday!!!" Tai says rather happily. He loved birthdays ._. He suddenly ran off and would be gone for a moment before coming back with a balloon. He was suddenly pulled out from the entrance of the hall/room they were in, and Tim was trying to take the balloon from him. DX They didn't know if Lance would want balloons or not.

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Lance’s smile grew as she lead him inside, welcoming him home. Home. He wondered if the girl even fully understood the meaning of the word. As it were, Lance did not feel like the castle was him anymore. Though he knew Rosa would let him or rather, insist that he lived there again, he had a feeling Felis still would not be so open on the idea. Though he didn’t know for sure. Sometimes his brother did things he didn’t expect or didn’t understand. Not to mention that he had only seen the man once in over a year and much could have changed since then. Sure, the first day seeing Felis hadn’t turned out so well at first, but by the time he had left Felis had returned a bit of affection. Lance was planning on working with that. He found himself nodding and smiling at the people visible in the room as Rosa announced to them that he was ‘home’ when the man of the hour suddenly appeared behind the woman. The sight of Felis caused his smile to fade for a moment as he drew closer but as Felis spoke, half of the smile returned and he nodded. “Leave it to my brother to remind me that I’m getting old.” Lance commented in a teasing tone as the others all gave their birthday wishes as well. He actually hadn’t been expecting it to be brought up so fast. Felis had a better memory than Lance had given him credit for. His eyes once again fell on Elayne for a moment but he said nothing as they moved from her to look for the butler. He seemed to have disappeared and when lance couldn’t find him, his eyes fell back onto Elayne. “It’s a pleasure.” “Felis…” He all but sighed out the name as he then turned back to the younger brother and reached out to wrap his arms around his younger brother. Pulling him close, he whispered in Felis’s ear so no one else could hear, “I don’t want to hurt you. If at any time you want me to leave…” He pulled himself out of the embrace, leaving either hand on each of Felis’s shoulders, “Just say. I’ll understand.” Giving options. It was one way to not only judge how much the other was healing but it also gave them their space and respect. Respect was important when winning ones loyalty back. Lance knew that best. Though Lance wouldn’t have given the option if Rosa hadn’t already seen him. He had a feeling that his younger brother wouldn’t have hesitated sending him away then. But with Rosa there… well Lance believed his chances of staying were pretty high. Or so he hoped. If he could weasel his way into actually making this his home, like Rosa so claimed it was, that would perfect. But he was far from getting his hopes up on that. [/scrolly] [bg=black]

What was his big brother now? Thirty.... wow... It somehow reminded Felis he was twenty-five... meh, still not as old as that, heh. Suddenly finding himself drawn into a hug, Felis's face grew red. At the words that came next, he cooled a little. The words were... soothing really... In truth, they made him want to trust his big brother again more than Felis wanted to admit. He really wanted to. At being given the option, Felis blinked but then slowly nodded half smiling. "Alright," he mused more quietly to himself than to Lance before slowly smiling. "It... really is good to see you," he managed before slowly stepping back again. He was still a tad on the edge, yet he could do this. Rosa's grin couldn't possibly get any larger (and even the one she was wearing was slightly distorting her face ever so slightly). Looking towards Elayne, Rosa stepped over and took her hand. "Lance! Look it's cousin Elayne!" the young girl smiled. For whatever reason, 'cousin' had stuck rather well at the front of Rosa's mind at least introduction wise... possibly because of the way Felis had introduced Elayne the first time around. "And Tai and... Tim!' Rosa pointed back with her free hand at the two butlers before grinning. At some point between her words, the young girl had started bouncing on her heels. She couldn't begin to describe how much she was glad to have immediate family in the house back. It... was like everyone would come back someday! Felis managed to smile a bit more and nodded his head. "Lance I'm pretty sure you've met our cousin. she's been gone quite some time but is staying with us now," he stated trying not to stress the 'our' too much. "And I finally hired full time butlers..." [/scrolly]

Elayne nodded when Lance returned the greeting and looked away, not sure what else to say. When she felt Rosa's hand in her own, Elayne felt herself blush slightly and smiled at Rosa's excitement as the young girl introduced her to Lance. At Felis' explanation as to why she was here, Elayne found herself feeling self-conscious and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear with her free hand before looking down at the ground. Feeling Rosa bouncing next to her, Elayne turned her attention to the young girl and smiled, it was good to see her so excited...if Rosa was this excited about Lance being here, he couldn't be that bad. Looking back up at Lance, Elayne smiled slightly,"Nice to see you again..."she replied in a quiet voice.

Tai suddenly burst through the hallway with Tim just in time to have their names told. He smiled as he hurried over to Lance and held out a balloon to him. Somehow he had one that said Happy Birthday on it Tim facepalmed at this as he stood there. Tai smiled happily. "Everyone deserves a balloon on their birthday!" Tai calls out happily. He then bowed a little bit. "I'm Tai Robinson. It's nice to meet you! I think you might have sent letters to my brother ^^ We're triplets. Tom Robinson?" Tai states rather happily. Tim really wished that Tai could be more formal with a guest DX

Felis was just as gullible as he had always and Lance loved it. All he had to do was keep up the act and he would get everything he needed out of Felis that he needed. Maybe even more. Lance’s eyes drifted back down to Rosa as she called out his name and brought his attention back to the woman. Elayne. Yes, he recognized that name. After Felis explained a bit more fully Lance finally smiled. “Ah, I remember playing with her when I was younger.” Lance explained to Rosa though his eyes were set on Elayne, “You’ve grown into a beautiful woman. It’s a delight to see you again.” He reached out to take her free hand to give her a light kiss. It was something he did to greet most women he met. A formality if anything. As he stood up straight again his head turned and blue eyes fell upon the two butlers. They both looked almost exactly the same, though one was holding a balloon. “I… thank you.” He was rather shocked to be given a balloon. He had absolutely no clue what he was going to do with it. Balloons were fine when you were young enough to appreciate them but he was no child anymore. He didn’t play with toys. That was just foolish. But… he couldn’t decline it either. A gift was a gift no matter how useless and Lance had to keep up his image in front of his brother and Rosa. “Triplets? Well, yes, the man has agreed to serve me as soon as I’ve settled down in Era again. I’m certain he will do a splendid job” Though he was rather shocked that Felis had managed to higher butlers from the exact same family line. They both must have been looking for new butlers at the same time. Funny how things worked out. [/scrolly] [bg=black]

Now this was not something Feliciano knew about, and as Tai spoke, the blond haired man blinked as something in the pit of his stomach internally cringed. Had Lance set it up to where these were the butlers that had come? No, that couldn't be right could it? Paranoia was starting to seep into Felis's veins, but he shoved it away for now. Rosa, on the other hand, seemed to suddenly break into a huge grin. So THAT was where the last brother was working? That couldn't come out better if she had planned it, as far as Rosa was concerned. This was great! Felis barely had time to react as he found Lance kissing Elayne's hand. It was a formal gesture, and he had done it to quite a few other ladies himself, yet somehow Felis found himself... well stunned for half a second before quickly managing to recover himself forcing a smile onto his features. Rosa, however, was suddenly giggling quite hard at Lance's motions and shook her head a little before looking back at Tai only to whip her head around again as Lance confirmed that he did, in fact, have a butler that was going to work for him. Great! That was perfect! That would mean that when he came back to the castle they'd have not one but two people coming right? Right? Right! Rosa found more adrenaline running in her system than she adequately had the ability to relieve. Felis, however, found himself breathing out again quietly as Lance confirmed his worries... well not the actual worries.. but more or less... simply stirred the pot. The blond haired man found himself mentally noting that he'd have to keep an eye on his butlers from no on... until they could prove that it was just some fluke in some manner or another. After a moment or two, Felis finally breathed inwards and resolved to say something more. "Well how about we all step into the main room seeing as it has more space and more of a place to sit down," he hummed a little. Rosa broke into a smile at this and nodded her head. "Let's go!" she called before suddenly starting down the hallway rather quickly not even realizing that she may or may not have been dragging Elayne with her own motions now. [/scrolly]

Elayne found herself smiling good-naturedly at the conversation between Felis and Lance until she felt Lance's gaze on her and looked back at the man, wondering why he was staring at her so intently. When Lance told her that she'd grown into a beautiful young woman, Elayne blushed and looked away, slightly embarrassed at the compliment only to feel her hand being kissed moments later, making her blush even more. Face now beet red, Elayne looked away from Lance, focusing on Elly who was looking rather amused at Elayne's reaction. No sooner had Elayne managed to get enough control over herself she could actually think, that Felis asked if they wanted to move to another room and found herself more or less being dragged by Rosa. Surprised to say the least, Elayne hurried to keep up with the excited young girl,"Rosa, slow down!"Elayne laughed as she continued to be led/dragged along the hallway.

Elly laughed softly in her mind when she saw Elayne's embarrassed reaction but chose not to comment on it. Judging by the way Elayne was looking at her now, it wouldn't be wise to push things any further. Moments later Rosa was dragging Elayne down the hallway towards another room. Surprised, Elly watched them head down the hallway before finally standing up and racing after the two girls.

Tai smiled as he listened. "Tom can be a bit of a downer at times ^_^ But he's a really hard worker. He'll do better than any of us would have." Tai says with a smile. They were all getting the jobs they wanted, it seemed. Tim suddenly grabbed Tai's arm and started to drag him away. DX He gave a balloon to a guy they should have been formal to, and didn't even attempt sounding like a butler at all DX Tim facepalmed once they got to the room, opening any doors for everyone in their way. Why did Tai have to be so dumb DX Tim wasn't thinking today would go well.

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] “I’m sure I’ll enjoy having him working with me” Lance replied to Tai, still holding the balloon he had been given. When Felis suggested to head into the main room Lance turned away from Tai and Tom and nodded in agreement. He then watched as Rosa began to drag Elayne down the hall towards the room as fast as her tiny legs could. He then watched as the two butlers passed him, deciding to take this chance to ask Felis about them. Something was just… odd and for once it wasn’t his doing. No, if he had of done it he wouldn’t have allowed it to be so obvious. Taking step with his brother, Lance reached out to slightly nudge him before asking in a very low voice, “Is there something you need to explain…” he motioned his head towards the two butlers, “About them?” He knew Felis didn’t trust him, or at least he believed he didn’t trust him but… well for some reason spying didn’t sound like something Felis would do either. Yet it was better safe then sorry. The reaction would tell all, hopefully. [/scrolly] [bg=black]

However, the blond haired man simply looked confused for a moment and then looked back off down the hallway before looking back again. Was this some kind of trick or something? "Are....so... you didn't plan that?" Felis finally asked after he got over his initial confusion and managed to get a word in. After a second, he started walking slowly towards the living room. "If you're lying I.... I ...." Felis broke off and shook his head as he found himself defeated for what he wanted to say. Why was it so hard now to say that he wouldn't forgive Lance... was it because... but... well.. he was family... and.... Though he found it hard to admit, Felis found himself warming up towards Lance again.... for now at least. Rosa grinned upon finally coming into the main living room, and in another moment, she made a flying leap at the large couch that was in said room and finally landed before grinning ear to ear. Bursting into a fit of giggles, Rosa looked towards Elayne and then towards Tai and Tim. "We'll all be best friends!" she announced rather easily not even noticing, at least for the moment, that neither Felis nor Lance had come in just yet. "Elayne! You never said you knew about biggest brother!" Rosa chimed before then looking towards Tai and Tim. "And that's where your brother works! It's so cool!" she grinned far too excited at the moment to stay in one spot. [/scrolly]

At Rosa's declaration that they would all be best friends Elayne found herself laughing again and nodded in reply before Rosa said that Elayne had never mentioned Lance before. Elayne looked thoughtful for a short while before smiling and laughing softly,"That's because I really didn't remember right away, I was....maybe around your age when I saw him last Rosa. Felis had mentioned him before but though the name sounded familiar I didn't place it until I saw him again today."she replied in a kind voice, eyes sparkling with amusement at Rosa's excitement.[/scrolly]

Tim was beside him and he seemed rather proud to say the least. He had his gift accepted by Felis's brother, and it seemed that everyone was happy. He couldn't help but be proud of everything.
