This...was not one of her brighter ideas, Trish would admit. The Den of Illusions was something of a step above her usual spooky forests, graveyards, and abandoned buildings on the 'danger' scale, and that reality was really only setting in now. Not to mention it was so damn cold, even with her numerous layers of heavy, warm clothing and a living heater wrapping his tails around her. Gabriel seemed rather nonchalant about the whole thing, except for the fact that his solid red eyes occasionally swept over the surrounding area warily, more worried about unwanted company than mother nature. Styx, her Sneasel, was scouting a short distance ahead, constantly looking back at Trish. Guarding her was his top priority, after all, and he wanted to be able to react in an instant if something attacked her that the Ninetales couldn't handle on his own. So why was Trish out here, other than her irresistible attraction to scary places with horrible stories attached to them? She was out looking for pokemon; Trish rarely got the urge to actually go out and catch things, or train what pokemon she had, but it had hit her. Some of her pokemon needed some fighting experience, and there were few wild pokemon mentioned to live here that didn't grab Trish's interest. That still didn't make wandering around in the Den of Illusions a good idea, but, hey, nothing had happened. Yet.

A Solosis was watching the woman and her Pokemon from a safe distance. Nearby, a Spoink was bouncing about idly.
But not all of the Pokemon were this peaceful and to themselves. A Shuppet was sneaking around in the shadows, then suddenly appeared behind the woman, mischief in his eyes.

Gabriel caught sight of the pokemon nearby, and gave them a small nod. Trish's eyes flicked to them, but she decided to leave them be. Solosis were kind of cool, but that one really didn't look interested in approaching them, and even when Trish got her 'training itch,' she didn't just go around and sic her pokemon on everything she saw.
Styx, however, glanced back at Trish just at the moment the ghost appeared behind her. He immediately bristled and hissed like a gas leak, claws at the ready, which made Trish and Gabriel quickly turn around to see what had gotten him upset.
Oh, lookie, a ghost type! Trish smiled. "Hello."

The Shuppet just stared, that sneaky look in his eye. The Ghost Pokemon said not a word. Meanwhile, a Duskull floated up behind the Sneasel ominously.
Then, from the shadows, a third Ghost Pokemon emerged. The ghost's form appeared in the middle of them, pale white, with pink eyes. Yes! It was an albino Banette! <Intruders...>

Okay, this was a little more severe than one mischievous little ghost. The Banette's voice made Gabriel whip around to face him, a low rumble escaping his throat. Trish looked as well, and was suddenly struck with feeling of complete and utter glee that overpowered any fear she could possibly feel over being surrounded by unfriendly pokemon. A Banette! And a really creepy albino one, too! Awesome!
However, there was still the fact that this was probably going to get violent fast, and Trish was not going to let these three make the first move. "Get 'em, boys!" she called while grasping for her pokeballs, sounding significantly more confident than she felt.
Gabriel summoned a few glowing Will-O-Wisps and hurled them at the Banette, snarling and fanning out his tails in a partial-intimidation, partial 'look at me' gesture. Styx went for the Duskull behind him, whipping around, shrieking, and going straight for its single eye with a Shadow Claw.
Lilith, the Vullaby, had only a moment to appear, shiver, adjust the half-skull she was wearing a little, and find her own opponent in the Shuppet. "Well, aren't you a handsome devil," she Flattered, holding back the urge to gag at her own words. Hopefully it'd confuse him enough to give her an advantage.

The Albino Banette took the Will o' Wisp attack, becoming burned in the process. In retaliation, he formed a Shadow Ball, hurling it at the Ninetales.
The Duskull was knocked down by the super-effective Shadow Claw. Slowly rising, she shook off her form, aiming a Confuse Ray at the Sneasel.
The Shuppet blushed, his eyes sort of twinkling. <Handsome? Me? D'Awwwwww....> The Ghost type was too confused and embarrassed to do anything.

Gabriel took the blow, fur standing on end as the ghostly energy burst on impact and snaked along his body, giving him an unnatural chill. He shook out his coat and snarled at the Banette. Two could play at that game, and he could play it better. His tails fanned out again, and he focused, his eyes quickly consumed in a purple light that bathed each of his tails, along with the Spell Tag around his neck. Then the power lashed out, slapping a powerful Hex on the burned ghost.
Styx wasn't doing as well. The confusion-inducing attack hit him head-on, and he found himself wobbling, blinking furiously and trying to focus. He leaped at the Duskull...and landed face-first far off target, skidding a bit and hissing into the ground.
"Sure are," Lilith chirped, right before she noticed the situation with Styx. Well that was just lovely, wasn't it? Tough guy needed saving. She turned to face the Duskull, digging her talons into the cold ground, and threw her stubby wings forward, shooting a small Dark Pulse in the direction of the skull-ghost.

The Banette fell to the Hex, merely dropping to a knee. Though, the super-effective hit did even more since he was burned. Then, the Pokemon attempted a Pain Split to divide the damage evenly, and help him out a little. Though the burn still hurt. >.>; <Intruders....you know not what you are doing...>
The Duskull was hit by the Dark Pulse, and shook himself off. However, the poor thing couldn't take much more, and he cringed, unable to move at the moment.
The Shuppet merely watched, pumped up from the Flatter, but still not really moving. He was too absorbed in the bird that was being so nice to him. And no, it really didn't matter that she was attacking his friend.

Gabriel gritted his fangs. Nasty little trick, that, and one he knew all too well. However, those words made the abundistic Ninetales' ears prick forward; ignoring such an ominous statement could be unwise, though it could be empty. Stepping toward the pale ghost, his eyes glowed as he Imprisoned that pesky pain-splitting move, along with anything else they had in common. "Enlighten us," his deep voice rumbled, "What are we doing?" A coherent and convincing answer may yet save the Banette from Gabriel's assault.
Styx, meanwhile, picked himself up and shook his head sharply. He was still a bit woozy and disoriented, but he managed to lock his eyes on the cringing ghost. With a shriek, he darted forward, claws pulsing with the energy for another Shadow Claw.
Lilith, meanwhile, backed off. Double-teaming an opponent wasn't her style, and Styx could probably handle it, anyway. She turned back to the Shuppet...who was staring at her all gooey-eyed. The Vullaby blinked, not sure how to handle this. After all, she'd used Flatter, not Attract. Oh, sure, she knew the latter of the two moves, but she never used it. Smacking around some infatuated thrall wasn't her style either.
Before this could get painfully awkward, Lilith coughed a little into her wing. "So, handsome, you just going to let me stroke you ego?" she said in a voice that implied that she didn't mind that. To be honest, she was a little flattered in her own right that such a compliment from her had had that effect, even if it made the Shuppet seem a little pathetic.

<You are making a grave mistake,> he said, slipping into the Shadows, preparing to attack the Ninetails with a Shadow Sneak.
The Duskull fell, downed by the Shadow Claw, only this time the Ghost type didn't get back up. He was done for.
The Shuppet gave a nod, then blinked. <Oh wait! Battle!> He went to launch an attack, then....slammed face first into the wall behind him, in his confusion. Well, so much for that...>.>

Gabriel was knocked back by the Shadow Sneak, paws skidding a bit on the frozen ground. He snarled, his eyes again taking on a purple light. "Wrong answer," he growled as he lashed out with another Hex.
Styx scurried over to Trish, pressing against her pant leg. Even with his muddled mind, his only thought was protecting her, and he sat there, eyes squeezed shut as he took deep breaths, trying to will away his confusion with a Calm Mind.
Trish looked at him with a frown. She would have knelt down to pet him, but there was a chance Styx could snap and strike at her in his disoriented state, mistaking her touch for an enemy's. Still, the poor little guy...Trish's eyes moved to the Duskull who had caused it, and it didn't look like it was getting up any time soon. She fished out an empty pokeball and gave it a gentle toss.
Lilith deadpanned when the ghost suddenly remembered he was supposed to fight her and..didn't exactly strike fear into her heart with his attempt. "Oh, yeah, you've really got me on the run," she mumbled sarcastically. She threw her wings forward to let out a Dark Pulse.

The Banette dropped to a knee, shuddering. <You fools...do you not see...we're trying to warn you...> The Pokemon bowed his head in defeat.
The Duskull was sucked into the ball, and it shook violently, but ultimately rang in capture.
Name: Species: Duskull Gender: Female Ability: Levitate Personality: This Pokemon is the silent type, literally; she's a mute. However this doesn't stop her from being the outgoing type. She listens to whatever she's told, and is readily obedient. She loves to fight, and shows little to no emotion in battle. Obviously, this can be a very hard Pokemon to read.
The Banette cringed, hit by the Dark Pulse. <Owwww...why? I thought you liked me...> he whined.
Suddenly, the air was pierced by an earth-shattering roar. Then, a shadow filled the area; a very large Salamence?!? In this area??? And he wasn't very happy, as noted by how he launched a Hyper Beam at the Sneasel. Had the Banette been conscious, he would have something to the effects of I told you so...

Gabriel's ears pricked forward again, then pinned back when the ghost slumped to the ground. Trying to warn them of what? Arceus' Sweet Mercy, if anyone was the fool in this scenario, it was the Banette, speaking in vague statements that sounded more like direct threats. Still, the idea that there may be something to be warned about made him pad back over to Trish, showing none of the pain he felt from the battle, as his trainer picked up the pokeball.
Trish smiled and ruffled Gabriel's fur. "Good boy," she said quietly, giddiness rushing through the outwardly-calm woman as she went for another pokeball and tossed it at the Banette.
Lilith gave the Shuppet a deadpan look. "Oh, yeah, shouting 'battle' and charging at a girl is absolutely charming." Oh, why was she bothering? He was the confusion-equivalent of higher than a kite, she was sure.
However, all this was quite quickly interrupted by an bellowing roar. Trish looked up, and what tiny bit of colour there was in her face drained away. "Oh f--" Kaboom! Styx was sent flying into a tree by a blast of raw energy, and he slumped to the ground. Trish scrambled to recall him.
Salamence. A freaking Salamence. Not many things scared Trish, but that was most definitely on the list. Lilith's eyes went huge as she looked at the dragon; she liked a challenge, but that was completely ridiculous.
Okay, she had to think logically. Sure, it was huge dragon that wanted to eat them, but it was still a pokemon, and that was a Hyper Beam right? Right. And Hyper Beam drained the user, so it probably wasn't going to hit them again right away. It might even land. Trish's hand went to her belt, and her remaining pokemon appeared, all of them looking up at the Salamence.
This was beyond crazy.
Maddie was less than terrified. In fact, she shrieked in delight as she fluttered through the air to meet the massive dragon, just as a ghostly pin appeared to stick into her. The Mismagius gave no show of pain, merely grabbing the pin and making to jab it into the dragon to Curse it. Gabriel was on her heels, forcing his fatigued body to form more Will-O-Wisps to burn the Salamence. Eight, stoic as ever, blasted out a Confuse Ray.
Lilith concentrated, reaching out to mentally grasp at rocks and throw them at the angry dragon in a hopefully-entrapping Rock Tomb, as Fluffy, the ever-adorable shiny Grimer, did similar with a Rock Slide.

The Banette was pulled into the Pokeball, and it clicked in capture almost instantly, the Albino ghost was too tired--and smart--to put up a fight.
Name: Species: Albino Banette Gender: Male Ability: Insomnia Personality: This Pokemon is very protective of all by nature. For some reason, he feels it is his duty to watch over those he is in company with, his trainer included. However, his ability with words isn't all that well, and can come across as vague, and even threatening. As such, the poor guy often ends up sticking his foot in his mouth.
The Shuppet finally snapped out of his confusion, watching the scene. Ohdear...<That's what the Banette was trying to tell you! We used to protect this place, then he came in...>
The Salamence landed, resting, only to be nailed by the Will o' Wisp, the Curse, and two super-effective rock attacks. Unable to move, the Dragon had no choice. To top it all off, he was hit by a confuse ray.
<How DARE you attack me?!? Do you not recognize a god when you see one? On your knees before my power!> With that, the Salamence took to the sky again, aiming a Dragonbreath at the Ninetales. At first glance, it would look as though the Confuse ray did nothing. But, upon closer inspection, the Salamence's flight pattern was teetering a bit...

Gabriel was too exhausted from his struggle with the Banette to move, and was ultimately consumed by the flickering dragons' fire. He slumped to the ground, and Trish quickly recalled him before he could suffer more harm. And then there were four.
Maddie, as usual, was entirely unfazed. She didn't appear to be even approaching lucid at the moment, dancing around in mid air and giggling like a fool. However, she was at least still playing smart, as the chill of an Icy Wind started to form around her, right before she hurled it toward the dragon.
Eight, sitting there, merely a mass of spectral energy above and around his keystone, had a rare change in expression, his eyes narrowing to green slits. He opened his mouth, and what sounded like around a dozen different voices, from different people, in varying tones, shouted, "Down with false gods!" before a biting Icy Wind of his own started to howl.
Lilith glanced at the Shuppet, considering asking for his help, or just telling him to run--er, float--away. She then decided that he'd do what he wanted to do, and just summoned another Rock Tomb. They had to slow this big lizard down, or trap him on the ground, or something, or they'd all end up like Styx and Gabriel. Or worse.
Fluffy, however, switched tactics, oozing forward a little and taking in a big breath before spewing an Acid Spray at the Salamence. That would make all the icy stuff hurt even more! He was soooo proud of himself for thinking of that.

The Shuppet blinked, looking at the onslaught on the monster. He'd help too! Whipping up a Shadow Ball, he launched it at the giant dragon.
<YOU ARE ALL BELOW ME!> Salamence bellowed as he was hit by all five attacks. The numbers game took its course, and the self-proclaimed god fell right out of the sky, smashing into the ground. The big guy didn't even twitch; he was out cold.

Thump. Well that was anti-climactic.
Trish blinked a couple of times as it sank it that her team had just beat the big dragon, and she did something she very rarely did. She gave a big (if slightly lop-sided) grin and threw her gloved fist in the arm with a, "Woohoo!" Maddie floated back over and twirled above her trainer's head as if dancing, still giggling. Fluffy oozed over and started to dance as best a blob of goo could, careful not to get any green ooze on anyone.
Eight just stayed where he was, shifting his chaotic mass to turn and face Trish as she celebrated. Lilith watched as well, not particularly interested in joining the party. Of course, the party quickly decided to come to her in the form of Maddie suddenly breaking off from the group and flying right up to the wild Shuppet, hovering what was probably far too close as she grinned widely and chirped cheerily, "Well, hi there, sweetie." Lilith facewinged.
Of course, once the initial buzz wore off, Trish found herself looking at the fallen dragon. She pulled out another empty pokeball. No harm in trying, right? When was she going to find a wild Salamence, anyway? She tossed the capsule at the still form of the so-called 'god.'

The Salamence was pulled into the Pokeball, and it shook back and forth rather violently; in fact it looked as if the thing would bust open and the Salamence would pop out ready for more. But it finally stopped, clicking in capture. The Salamence was in no shape to fight anymore.
Name: Species: Salamence Gender: Male Ability: Moxie Personality: This Pokemon believes he is some kind of deity, considering himself above all, even others of his own kind. Not above asserting his self-proclaimed authority, he can be rather violent and unpredictable. However, he has a great respect for Trish; the Salamence never thought he'd see the day a human would be able to bring him in. Though he'd still rather do his own thing in battle, he is very protective of 'The Chosen One' and to a lesser extent her Pokemon, whom he still sees himself as a few steps above. Other People and pokemon, he has zero respect for, and expects them to worship him or pay the price.
<...We did it! We just slayed the dragon!>The Shuppet did a backflip type-thing in the air. When Maddie came up, a smile spread across his face at being called 'sweetie.' <Hi...> he said nervously, though this time not under the effects of any move.
A Nuzleaf was nearby, watching all that had went on, but not really having much to do with any of them. The faint cry of a Hoothoot echoed in the distance. But all other Pokemon in the vicinity were scared off by the battle.

Maddie giggled at the Shuppet's reaction, giving a small backflip in the air. "Aren't you just a-dor-able," she sing-songed.
"Yeahyeahhe'sgreat" Lilith rushed in a voice that wasn't quite sarcastic so much as irritated. The Vullaby had never liked Maddie; most of the things she said were perfect snark-bait, but her razor wit didn't really work on the insane. "Don't you have something crazy and non-sequitor to do?
Maddie looked at Lilith, then at the Shuppet, then back at Lilith, and suddenly a grin split her face. "Ohhhhh. I get it." The Vullaby, almost afraid to ask, opened her beak to speak, only for it to fall open in shock when the Mismagius giggled and said, "You saw him first, right?"
"WHAT?"
Maddie didn't seem to even hear her. "We're friends, Lily, don't'cha worry. I can respect--"
"You. Are. Completely. Insane." Lilith's face was red, and she was completely flabbergasted at the suggestion. Him, blob. Her, bird. Not compatible.
It was this outburst that finally got Trish's attention, and she looked over to see that the Shuppet was still there. The goth-girl wandered over, not sure what was going on with her own two pokemon but figuring it was harmless. "Hey," she said gently, "Thanks for your help in the fight...and I'm sorry about...I thought you wanted to hurt us." She couldn't exactly just let the other two ghosts go, either, since they were off in storage, though she would have if she could.
Fluffy, meanwhile, noticed the Nuzleaf and gave it a friendly wave with one big green, slimy hand, though he didn't approach the dark type. "Hi!"

The Shuppet blinked. Girls? Fighting over him?! Wooooow...
Then Trish came up and apologized, and the Shuppet merely gave a nod, indicating it was quite alright.
The Nuzleaf looked at the green Grimer and gave a nod in greeting. <Hey,> he said calmly, still standing propped against his tree.
Suddenly, there was a rustling in the bushes nearby. What was that...?
