Ty vs. Kero

So, Ty didn't like his odds for the most part. On the one hand, he had Zang and Charizard--but it wasn't Angel, his own Albino Charizard; it was...some other Charizard. And the last was...He gulped at the very idea of using a Gastly...Damn ghosts... Finally, Ty decided to start with what he knew and called out the Zangoose. Zang smirked, ready for a good fight. It was at that moment that Ty got another harsh reality check. His opponent was Kero, the guy who put the wanted poster on him in the first place. Win or lose, this had the potential to end badly... She was simply there to watch the match and cheer on Ty though as she thought about it long enough, she found her heart pounding a little. Shaking her head, she sat back before finally standing up. Cupping her hands over her mouth to amplify sound, Nami called out. "You can do it!" she called before finally sitting down again. [/scrolly]

Kero absolutely adored fire types almost as much as he loved Flying types. Not to mention that one was a Charizard. If he was lucky it wouldn’t be as head strong and easily tempered as his own Charizard. Perhaps more behaved like Cora’s Charizard seemed to be. Then again, Kero knew his own Charizard loved battling other fire types. That would be a problem. Ah well, he would give it a shot. Standing ready to fight, Kero watched as Ty, a man who looked oddly familiar in a way, sent out the first pokemon. It seemed he was starting with a pokemon he was familiar with. As comfortable as Kero was with his own pokemon, he could understand that choice. However, he was itching to try out these new pokemon. An Arcanin! Oh, it would be so cool to use! With a big grin, Kero picked his first choice and tossed the pokeball. With a flash of red light, Blazer was released and Kero… oh man, he just about melted. His coat was so pretty! But he had to keep it professional. “Alright Blazer, let’s show your trainer you can do this.” With that he began to the first attack, “Use Fire Fang!” Nodding, oddly with a grin, the fire type leaped forward, fire filling his mouth as used the Fire Fang attack. Blazer didn't want to fight against Ty, but on the other hand...he didn't like Zang. He was so confused... "Blazer, give it your all! Don't hold back on me!" Ty encouraged, knowing the Arcanine would listen. When Blazer attacked, Zang cringed, but smirked. He'd been waiting SO long to show the Arcanine who was boss...But this was delicate. He'd let Ty give orders for once... "Crush Claw!" Gladly, Zang obeyed. [/scrolly]

Blazer's speed proved superior, and his fiery fangs pierced the Zangoose with sharp accuracy. Before he had even let go, though, Zang's claws smashed into his side with a crushing force of their own. It looked to be a good battle already.

This pokemon was so COOL! He defiantly had to get himself one someday. Maybe the next time he returned home he could search for one. Though it would be hard. they were rare. Perhaps it's pre-evolution wouldn’t be too hard to find though? Kero was shocked by one thing though. Ty's words to his Arcanine... he was couching the pokemon to do his best which in Kero's eyes was a very noble thing to do. He almost wished he could do the same thing. Though he knew his two pokemon well enough. Gastly wouldn't care what complements you gave him and in fact, it would most likely distract him too much from the battle. Charizard would just roll his eyes at him. Then again, he could try something else on Charizard that would boost his fighting spirits... "Counter with a heat wave!" Kero called out to the pokemon, knowing the close rang would be hard to dodge. Blazer opened his mouth quickly, letting out a hot breath towards Zang. [/scrolly] [bg=brown]

Zang snarled; he knew Blazer was tough, but the Arcanine was actually keeping up with him? Okay so Blazer was clearly faster, but no way the Zangoose was going to actually admit that. "Zang, Thunderbolt!" What? No. Zang didn't want to do that! He wanted to take the fight to the Arcanine, not stand back and attack from a distance like a little pansy! The headstrong Zangoose shook his head, then rushed forward, trying to get within arm's reach in an attempt to hit the Fire Type with a Poison Jab. Ty sighed, but he wasn't exactly surprised. Zang might agree to take orders, but...well it was never a guarantee that said orders would actually be obeyed. [/scrolly]

The Heat Wave washed over Zang with force- the Arcanine's special prowess far lower than his physical, but the Zangoose's defenses nigh equally mismatched. Not that the Poison Jab was any laughing matter, causing quite the literal thorn in Blazer's side, but the Arcanine proved superior this time.

It’s grace, it’s speed, it’s totally awesome looks!! Oh, he loved it all. This way too much fun. Even if he ended up losing in the end Kero was certain joining the tournament was well worth his time. “Let speed this up with Agility, then use Flamethrower!” Kero called out to Blazer. To Kero’s delight the pokemon did as he asked, speeding up into an agility before aiming a Flamethrower attack. [/scrolly] [bg=brown]

Lost in the moment, the trying-to-reform thief completely forgot he was locked in battle with the very man who had put a bounty on his handsome blond head. "Zang! Swords Dance, then follow up with a Crush Claw!" Zang nodded, actually obeying this time. Finishing the Swords Dance, he rushed in to slash madly with the Crush Claw attack. No way the Zangoose was going to lose, he couldn't! Zang had to prove to the world that he was the best! Welll, Zang thought so, anyway. [/scrolly]

Not that Blazer wasn't already faster than Zang, but the boost in speed certainly made him look that much more epic dashing around the field. His Flamethrower lit up Zang's Sword's Dance, actually making for quite the appealing visual combination, but this wasn't a Contest of course. Zang pretended the Flamethrower wasn't quite as painful as it really was, bashing Blazer's head with an incredible utterly crushing force.

That had been a pretty hefty blow. Well, it seemed that meant it was time to pick up his game and perhaps fight a bit dirty. “Blazer, get in there and use Reversal to take him down!” Kero called out. He knew with that last blow the Arcanine was looking a tad more shook up than the Zangoose. Hopefully this attack would fix that. [/scrolly] [bg=brown]

Ty's mind raced, trying to think of a way out; a way that would save his hide. But Zang thought of one first. No time to wait for an order, Zang rushed in to meet the Reversal with his Ace in the hole: Final Gambit. Ty blinked when he realized what the Zangoose was up to. "No, Zang! Not that!" But the Zangoose was paying him no mind. Zang had it set in his mind that if he was going down, he was doing everything he could to take down the Arcanine in the process. [/scrolly]

Actually, with approximately 43% of his health left, Blazer's Reversal wasn't very powerful at all yet-- which could have been a good or, more likely, bad thing under the circumstances. The low damage dealt despite type advantage meant the Final Gambit was that much more powerful. Of course, when it was over, Zang was down either way, but Blazer held on just by a thread.

His own attack hadn’t been as powerful as he thought it would be which meant he had a lot of learning to do still. But that’s one reason he was here, right? Luckily for him the Zangoose still went down and though Blazer was looking extremely tired, he had still managed to hold his ground. Now he could sent the Arcanine back for a rest or continue on with the pokemon… humm… no for now he would leave Blazer out and see what Ty’s next pokemon was going to be. [/scrolly] [bg=brown]

Though, the man had to admit, the Zangoose did sort of take after his trainer there. Ty wanted to use Charizard, but he knew he'd most likely have to use Gastly sooner or later. So, swallowing his fear--for the time being--he called out the Ghost type. Upon being called out, the Gastly smiled and moved towards Ty, who backed up a bit. "Sh-sh-shadow Ball!" Instead the Gastly moved to Lick Ty, who cringed, and paled. The Gastly got a kick out of this, and finally used the Shadow Ball on the Arcanine, though afterwards he turned back to the still shuddering Ty and licked him again. "....Stoppit...." He muttered, then began murmuring to himself. "I can do this....I can do this....it's just a Pokemon...I can do this...." Oh who was he kidding? That Gastly terrified the poor guy, and the Ghost spent the time not attacking looking at Ty... [/scrolly]

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] When Kero’s Gastly was released, Kero smiled to himself and for a moment wondered if perhaps a new trainer would be able to get the pokemon to pay attention to the battle. Sadly the sight that came after the ghost type was released was far from what Kero was hoping for. The other man seemed rather frightened of Gastly despite the pokemon attempt to be friendly and play. What was worse, was that Kero really didn’t know what to do to get his Gastly to battle for Ty. He could try calling the pokemon’s name but that would most likely only attract the ghost to play with him instead. Then again… perhaps that would at least take off some of the pressure on this Ty person? Kero knew if it were him with a bug type, having the bug type leave him alone would at least help. But then… perhaps attacking the ghost would help distract anyway… well he would try that first. “Blazer, try a Heat Wave” Though the pokemon was tired, it moved forward to use the attack. Upon seeing her actions, she stopped and cried her arms and legs and continued to chew her lip. [/scrolly]

The speedy Arcanine leashed the mighty wave of burning energy from his glorious form and... missed spectacularly as Gastly just drifted through the slim gaps in the flames. The Shadow Ball connected, however, taking the Arcanine down at last.

What was worse was the attack from his Gastly had hit dead on, causing the fire type to faint. Now they were even again and Kero had lost his small advantage. Calling back the fallen fire type, Kero pulled out another Pokeball and tossed it. With a flash of red light, the tiny form of his Swablu was released. The tiny bird let out a chirp, and Kero smiled, "Try you're best!" Kero encouraged her, causing Blue to take a fighting stance. "Ok, use Feather Dance and Ominous Wind" Kero commanded. Blue nodded and began to waving her feathers around in her dance before flapping her wings, her eyes glowing a bright purple as a gust of repulsive wind flew towards Gastly. [/scrolly] [bg=brown]
