[shadow=maroon,left,300]Faith[/shadow] |
Well, here she was. Faith Leonhard could never resist the urge to fight, especially when there were rewards involved, and thus had entered a tournament. Despite the fact that that her usual fighting environment was a back alley at night and her strategy tended to involve massive outnumbering, excessive force, and playing dirty. To say that she was at a disadvantage here was an understatement. Not to mention that, thanks to the roulette nature of this whole freaking circus, her Scizor and Ariados were with her opponent. Though, the fact that Scarlet was going to pissed as hell over having someone who wasn't Faith barking orders at her could result in something entertaining. Willow was probably going to enjoy fighting against Faith, the vengeful black widow bitch. As it was, Faith took her place at one side of the arena, not giving a damn about whatever her opponent did or said. She just plucked a pokeball off her belt and tossed it into the arena, letting an irritable-looking Houndoom take form. Despite most people's assumptions, Faith did know how to type match. "Hope you're as tough as you look," she mumbled.

Well damn this sucked. Jack frowned a bit to himself as he walked to his side of the arena. He'd only managed to keep Holl while his other pokemon were interchanged with bugs of all things, shesh. Knowing that Monster was going to end up on the opposite side of the field wasn't a fun thought either.
Possibly the only reason Black Jack Spade had entered teh competition was to get a chance at some money, seeing as Third was always nagging at the back of his mind that they were all -all of course meaning BJ himself plus the enormous number of voices in his head- going to end up poor on the streets if they didn't make more and more money. Sure enough, he finally said 'the heck with it' and went for it.
Upon seeing the pokemon that was released, Third face/palmed. Shit. Now if this wasn't just the loveliest type match up. Ripper, however, chuckled to himself actually rather amused by the entire situation for one reason or another. BJ Spade, however, simply smirked and tossed out his Dusknoir. "No time like the present~" he grinned ear to ear looking at his opponent. Well wasn't this going to be fun?

Faith had the urge to flip her opponent the bird, but she resisted for the moment, merely scowling across the battlefield at him. The little blonde woman had no desire to appear friendly, or even remotely close to anything other than angry.
She didn't even twitch at the sight of the Dusknoir, merely looking at Monster. "What are you waiting for? Rain dark death on the bastard." Though curbing her desire to make obscene gestures, there was no way Faith wasn't going to be swearing like a sailor through this whole thing.
With a low growl (whether at the ghost or Faith was hard to tell), Monster went about doing something his current handler knew all too well: playing dirty. Namely, a little Foul Play.

Monster hit first, though just by a slim margin, using rather than its own strength the strength of the ghost. The blow was devastating, but hardly enough to take the bulky beast down this fast, and the wave of kinetic energy soon ravaged the hound in turn, though not nearly with the same force with which it had been hit despite being Super Effective.

Well, that had gone fairly well. Faith started to relax a little, her mouth quirking into a faint smirk. Monster wasn't a bug, but he sure knew how to dish out pain. She almost wanted one of these beasts, but she'd settle for hoping the randomization let her keep him in her next match.
Faith made a vague 'go ahead' gesture in the direction of the Dusknoir, and Monster sent a Leer in his direction before going in for another Foul Play. That was the plan in a nutshell, really. Just keep hitting it until it stopped moving.

Monster's attack hit just about the time he himself was overtaken with confusion, managing to land a simply devastating blow which took out over half of the Dusknoir's remaining health. Third's intervention, for all BJ may dislike it, was probably for the best. Another shot like that and the collective Jack would be down one almost before they started. And there went any form of restraint, as Faith promptly flipped off Jack while the hellhound she was commanding was left stumbling around in an almost-drunken-looking state. She then shoved that hand into her pocket and pulled out of a half-empty pack of cinnamon gum, which she pitched at the back of Monster's head. "Snap out of it."
Whether it could be considered to have worked was debatable, since the snarling Houndoom seemed to be looking in every direction but hers in search of the source of the projectile. A pen cap followed it, bouncing off one of his horns. "Pay attention, dammit! Use Faint Attack!" Everything and its grandmother could learn that attack, so it was a fairly safe bet on Faith's part that the Houndoom could do it. If that damn dog wasn't too addled.

Monster didn't seem to snap out of it right away, but did leash the attack, and by some means or other managed to toss himself slightly sideways enough to end up in Hollow's direction anyway. It wasn't as powerful as the Foul Play, however, though while Hollow was still quite capable of fighting, Monster did seem to become fully aware of himself again after hitting. The Focus Blast knocked Monster back a good bit, but the Dusknoir wasn't exactly made for special fighting, and the damage done was "pretty good" at best. Well, that had worked out quite well, hadn't it? Turned out that throwing things and yelling had done wonders. Or maybe it was the Focus Blast to the face. Either way, things were going her way again. A cruel smirk came to Faith's face. "Finish him off," she said with a surprisingly calm tone.
Monster's nose rose to the air, locking onto Hollow's familiar scent with Odor Sleuth before he raced in to deliver a Crunch.

The Protect managed to stave off further damage for now, and the blissful slumber- or perhaps raging nightmare for his species, which may well have the same effect- Hollow was restored to his former glory. However, Monster had destroyed his chances at evading, as the shadow clones, while still present, now meant nothing to the dog's sense of smell. The real question here was whether or not Hollow would survive long enough to wake and fight back again, or if this had only delayed the inevidable. Faith grinned wickedly. She should have been pissed off at the blocked attack and the healing, but a sleeping opponent was might as well be a gift-wrapped one to her. Faith was going to make Jack pay for every moment of inaction that move caused.
Even she was stunned when Monster lunged forward in feral hunger toward Hollow, however. She hadn't exactly known that Houndoom knew Dream Eater. Good thing the Houndoom in question did.

The Dusknoir's high special resilience meant the Dream Eater really didn't do so much as Faith and Monster both had probably hoped, but it did give monster a small boost at least (if probably a few mental images he could have done without). Then, of all the fucking luck, of all the good hundred or so moves Hollow could possibly have used, the move to come of his Sleep Talk was fucking Fire Punch. Monster.. couldn't exactly complain. The punch tickled if anything, and Fire-type moves from here on would be 50% more powerful. Hollow would probably be waking up right after Monster's next move. Faith cracked up.
It was hard to say whether she shrieked or howled with laughter, or both at the same time, but the resulting sound was both incredibly loud and very likely unpleasant to all ears. The small blonde woman nearly fell right over in her sadistic mirth over her opponent's misfortune, but as the laughter faded to cackles she remembered her priorities. Time to make Jack pay. "Rip him apart."
The result of those orders was a repeat of a previous round for Monster: a Leer followed by a Foul Play.

Monster didn't even seem to get a very good hit on Hollow, and still the attack was (appropriately) hellish, particularly with those weakened defenses. Hollow's own attack hit very well, but... he just couldn't live up to the Houndoom.
