Haii Vs Xavier

Hell, of all the ones to lose, he had to have lost Steel to the damn roulette. What the flipping--- Sighing and rubbing his temple as he walked up to the arena, the dark haired man finally came to the spot and turned sharply crossing his arms in front of him and thinking over who he had. He'd managed to keep Yin and Thorn this time around, and he'd acquired a Porygon.... Ok, he'd use the one he trusted least first. There was no way in hell that he was going to keep that in the back if he got in a pinch. Releasing the Porygon first, Haii watched as Z appeared and seemed to form exclamation points for eyes for a moment as he looked at him. Haii just stared back not really caring what the pokemon was going to say or do. Instead, he found himself looking up and at the man that he was going to battle waiting to see which pokemon he would have to fight first. [/scrolly]

Xav grinned at Haii, somewhat amused by his silence. He had a good hunch as to why Haii was like that, however... Xavier was just as apprehensive to lose Z as the other man was to lose his Skarmory; he knew Z had such a vast move pool that could work against him, in so many ways, so many unsavory ways... and just his luck. Xavier groaned when he saw Z being released from his Poke'ball, covering his face with his hand. Wonderful. And... his current team was entirely to susceptible to Z's attacks. Xavier clucked his tongue, a habit he did for when he was thinking. Reaching a decision, he sent out his Lapras Jubbal, the Poke'mon humming loudly as he materialized. Seeing Z, he looked back at Xavier quizzically, as if asking if the Porygon opposite of him was in fact Xavier's. "The one and only..." Xav replied, causing Jubbal's tune to drop into a lower octave thoughtfully. "Lets begin with a Confuse Ray." Xavier ordered, Jubbal nodding and emitting the high-frequency ray towards Z. [/scrolly]

As the attack was ordered, he chewed the side of his mouth coming to a rather fast conclusion. "Double Team," was all he stated. Indeed, he wasn't going to charge directly into the battle, but then again, he never did, anyways. This was a battle but by no means a brawl. Z seemed to hesitate a moment before dividing into the multiple copies of himself as was asked. [/scrolly]

Both Pokemon did as commanded. Z's Double Team upped its evasive ability prior to Jubbal's ray reaching it, but the attack still managed to connect, turning Z's rather expressive eyes to swirls.

Fine then. "Thunderbolt," was the order given, and with that, Haii put his hands in his pockets and simply waited. [/scrolly]

"Sorry buddy!" He called to Z, who was too confused to even notice his trainer. This entire thing was confusing to begin with for him. X.X "Ice Beam Jubbal." Xav then ordered, gritting his teeth. He made a mental note to feed Z many of his favorite berries later... [/scrolly]

The Ice Beam missed spectacularly while Z managed to somehow stumble mid-air and hurt himself, if only receiving a scratch at best. However, the swirls did seem to fade as Z snapped out of it afterward.

"Rain Dance then Thunder," was the order given rather quickly, and once more, Z attempted the moves. [/scrolly]

Hearing Haii's command, Xavier bit his lip; that would be nasty if it landed. "Protect and then Surf." Came his call, Jubbal ceasing his humming to concentrate on his orders. ((Note: If I can't use protect and surf in one turn, then ignore the surf command and just use protect. I'll edit later as necessary. ^^)) [/scrolly]

Though the day had been clear, dark clouds formed out of nowhere over only their battlefield as rain began to pour. Thunder crashed as one bold bolt split the sky directly towards Jubbal, but the Lapras managed to Protect himself. Unfortunately, Xavier apparently hadn't thought that through completely, or had momentarily forgotten one or both of his own Pokemon's abilities. With Z Tracing Jubbal's Water Absorb, the super-powered raining Surf just acted as a super-powered health spa, healing the Porygon for far more than the tiny damage it had earlier inflicted upon itself.

Well this thing was proving to be useful after all. "Thunder again!" was all he ordered. [/scrolly]

Trace... he had forgotten about that. With another Thunder being ordered, Xavier gulped uncertainly. He could try Protect again, but it would probably fail... "Worth a shot. Protect again and then... use Thunder too!" Xav never understood how or why Jubbal knew Thunder, but it sure came in handy. [/scrolly]

As predicted, the Protect failed to work a second time. The Porygon's Thunder would have been a nasty sting even with the Lapras's wonderful special defense, but luck was not on their side, and Z landed a critical hit. Jubbal's own thunder hit pretty hard, but nothing like the blow he took.

However, somewhere along that path, a thought hit him, and he mentally sighed. Fine."Double Team again, and then Thunder!" he ordered. [/scrolly]

Yet his own Thunder landed as well, Xavier grimacing as he watched the blows exchange. Poor Z. Pondering a moment, Xavier rubbed his chin, snapping his fingers when an idea came to him. "Setup a Substitute Jubbal, then Sing." He said, causing Jubbal to smile somewhat. He loved to sing, and eagerly obliged. Z shook his head, pupils thinning into lines. This was fun at first~ But now it kinda wasn't~ But Xavvie asked him to do this~ But this guy looks funny~ Why so serious, he wondered, before complying with Haii's orders. [/scrolly]

Z cloned himself again, then loosed his attack. The Thunder was much more bearable this round, but still pretty nasty. The plasma-like Substitute which formed in a Lapras shape took quite a bit out of Jubbal itself, but should last a bit while Xavier figured out what to do, drawing Z like a magnet until it was destroyed. However, the Sing did not go over so well, Z's evasion with the already abysmal accuracy of the move making an unfortunate combo indeed.

He had to admit, this was fun. "Thunder again!" was the only order that was given. If the man wanted to use a substitute, Haii would just break it. [/scrolly]

At least Jubbal's substitute would allow him to think of some other move options... but he needed to do so quickly. Jubbal was beginning to tire, he could see that. Wait... that was it! "Rest." Xavier said with a grin. Jubbal couldn't be more eager to oblige. [/scrolly]

The Thunder hit a little less severely on the Substitute, but still did almost half its health in damage. Whether it would take one or two more hits to break it was a total coin-flip at this point. Meanwhile, Jubbal's supernatural sleep restored all his wounds, essentially starting the battle anew... as soon as he woke up anyway.
