[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Lance stood on his side of the field, a rather stern look upon his face. He was already regretting joining the competition. While others claimed the tournament was simply ‘fun’ Lance Rossi had other views. Firstly he was certain Ruka’s pokemon would be useless and under trained. Too kind for their own good. He had thought of maybe spending the tokens he received but after looking at the exchange there was nothing their he was interested in. Yes, it held dragons, but he had them already. All he could hope for was to win this, proving his skills and perhaps getting something worth while from the actual tournament. Last but not lest he was up against Ruka. He sincerely hoped that just because he was faking an attraction for her that she didn’t expect him to go easy on her. He was not here to make his love connection stronger.
Well, perhaps it was best to get the weakest pokemon out of the way. Giving a stiff nod to Ruka, Lance tossed the Pokeball into the air releasing the small Aron. He then waited to see who Ruka would use first. She had his Sceptile which was the only pokemon he was worried about. No doubt Vipin would have fun with this. [/scrolly] [bg=black] |

She'd joined because she knew that her Pokemon were lacking proper training. She didn't like the idea of randomly attacking wild Pokemon in order to catch them and she she feared leaving behind ones she didn't want to catch. In fact... the Aron she'd brought was one she hadn't caught at all. She'd bought it from the capital and had quickly realized the poor thing was clumsy so she'd wanted to train it. Unfortunately, that didn't seem possible now... Lance had her and had put her out first.
The woman heaved a small sigh, considering for a moment who she should put out first. There was no way she'd pit the calm Sceptile against Scarlet, Kira would be super-effective and get the battle over with quickly, and the Spinda would... well, she'd bought him too and wasn't sure exactly what he'd do. All she did know is he was rather violent. Taking a deep breath, she released her Mienfoo, who looked at first prepared, but when he saw his opponent, he turned and gave Ruka a disbelieving look. "I know, I know," she gave a slight whine. "She doesn't have much of a chance against anyone on the team, so I hope we can teach her a little this way before... well, putting her out of it."
Kira didn't like this at all... Turning back, he got himself ready again and glared daggers at Lance. If he could attack the trainer himself, he might have, but this was a tournament and if Ruka had any chance of actually winning, the Mienfoo wasn't going to take that away by letting his temper get the best of him. The only thought running through Scarlet's mind was... well, there really wasn't much. Just a lot of fear, possibly causing her to shake a little while she waited. [/scrolly] |

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Lance let out a deep breath as he saw Ruka’s first pick in a pokemon against her Aron. She had picked a weakness, and in Lance’s mind it was the only reason she picked it. Luckily, Lance was certain that the steel type had a move that could fix his disadvantage. However, first he was required to keep up his gentlemen like act with the woman. “I wish you the best of luck, my love.” He gave her a small bow of the head before raising his hand and giving his first commanded. “Use Roar.” The tiny pokemon, though nervous and bit a shaky, sucked in a breath before opening her mouth to let out a Roar attack. This battle was not only unlucky for her but awkward. Shaking her head slightly to get herself to focus, she peered at both of her Pokemon, now pitted against each other. She felt a tinge of guilt as she opened her mouth to order Kira. "Use Focus Blast!" Closing his eyes, the Fighting-type concentrated and created a small sphere of golden energy. Shifting his weight, he moved to throw it at the small Aron. He didn't like this one bit but he'd listen to Ruka. Besides, the whole point was to possibly gain a new member to their group. He figured Scarlet felt the same about the situation.[/scrolly] |

The Mienfoo's speed proved vastly superior, and he leashed a wave of kinetic energy which utterly devastated the Aron, dealing over a third of its health worth of damage. Once that was done, though, the little metal beast's roar sent Kira involuntarily into his ball, and luck dictated that Vipin take his place. For a moment the Sceptile seemed surprised to be out of his ball, given the nature by which he had been ripped from it, but this was only the one brief moment. The battle was going to poorly already and he blamed this under trained pokemon of Ruka’s. But he couldn’t tell her that which was only proving to frustrate him more. “She’s cute…” Lance claimed after a moment before calling his moves, “Use Toxic and then Aerial.” Though still hesitant, Scarlet began to use the moves… [/scrolly] [bg=black] |

But then she heard the orders given by Lance and her attention snapped up. Toxic? No! "DIG!" The force and desperation confused Vipin even more, but he did as commanded. The fact that the man had also issued a second command slowly sunk in and she realized that he wasn't holding back in the least... particularly against his own Pokemon. She couldn't really hold it against him, though. She'd attacked Scarlet with what she knew would be extremely effective. This attack would be, too, even if she hadn't been thinking about that when she issued the order. She'd just wanted to get Vipin out of the way. [/scrolly] |

Vipin burrowed under the ground just in time to avoid the Toxic. So much quicker was he though that he did not get out of being hit entirely, coming up with a significant force before the Aron could move again, though it seemed the Aron's defense was actually enough to cushion even such an effective hit. Scarlet then assumed 'Aerial' meant Aerial Ace and complied just after Vipin surfaced, slashing him with an elemental energy. Vipin, too, however, seemed to have the defense to block the bulk of the blow. Scarlet the Aron, F, Rock Head, n/a: (-165) HP: 372/912 ATK: 177 DEF: 268 SPA: 85 SPD: 178 SPE: 65

Not that he expected any of Ruka’s pokemon to be strong but really… “Magnet Rise and toxic again.” He commanded the tiny iron pokemon, crossing his arms as he gave the orders. Still a bit intimidated with the battle, the tiny creature began with the Magnet rise before getting ready to try another Toxic attack. [/scrolly] [bg=black] |

Another Toxic... Narrowing her eyes, she took a deep breath. Now she had to stop worrying and get more serious. "Attract and Double Team!" She had to make it as difficult as possible for moves like that to hit. Toxic would make a Pokemon almost useless for the rest of the battle and she could only imagine the pain it would make them go through. That was the last thing she wanted. Vipin, of course, had a small droplet of sweat appear on his head as he used Attract on the small Pokemon. Double Team was less embarrassing and was executed quickly. [/scrolly] |

..... .__. Oh.... sweet.... Maker....<33 *3* Were that Sceptile's scales always THAT shiny?! And th--those lean muscles! OH DEAR GOD NOW THERE WERE MORE OF HIIIIIM<<<333 Indeed. Scarlet had fallen head over heels..... making her floating rather humorous as she slightly rolled on one side and sighed dreamily at the large lizard beast. To all watching, she honestly seemed very much like a cheesy cartoon in which a character could be lifted off the ground and pulled along by the sheer strength of infatuation. Perfect for boosting Lance's opinion of female feelings, of course~ ,,, 8U!!! OH HEY! She uh-- she was being ordered to do something? What? Toxic?? .... Uh... .__. Um... Vipin<3?? Uhhh.. Yeah! None the less, Lance was tired of using such a useless pokemon and with a heavy sigh, and much to the relief of Vipin, he called back the Aron. With the flash of light the pokemon was gone and in another flash of light, Lance had called out his Zweilous. Now he knew the pokemon at least wouldn’t be so week and useless. Before she could be switched out, Scarlet was hit by the Pursuit. It did very little damage considering the Aron's defenses and the type match up, but it was something, at least. Meanwhile the Hone Claws raised Vipin's attack and accuracy.

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Lance frowed as the pokemon was hit before it had been returned to the poke ball, but he said nothing. In fact, he didn’t even give a command to the dragon pokemon who had now taken it’s place. Instead he just stood there, watching and waiting. Though he did take a moment to snap his fingers at the pokemon when one head snapped at the other head. The other had was about to snap back when they heard the snapping of the fingers and stopped. It seemed Lance had trained them not to fight despite the deep hatred the two heads had for each other.

It made her nervous and even scared. A Zweilous. She didn't know a whole lot about the creature, but she did know its types. It didn't bode well for the Grass-type. Chewing her lip, she watched the dragon, expecting to hear Lance's voice. Eventually, she realized that he wasn't going to say anything and her attention turned to him. What was he...? A blush quickly came to her face as she realized she was "staring", although looking at him for a moment while in thought might not really be considered staring. Looking down, she raised a hand and rubbed her face. Concentrate, Ruka. You can do this!
"F-Flash!" She at least knew for certain that this Sceptile had the ability as she'd seen him use it with her own eyes. But what else to do? Now she just seemed to be stalling... "Vipin... Use Focus Blast." Her voice was noticeably calmer with that last instruction and she looked back at the battlefield to examine the attack and reaction. [/scrolly] |

The only problem with his dragon was that he was slow. Which was why Lance wasn’t going to play the guessing game. “Zweilous, use Psych Up. Then Fire Fang.” Fire fang wasn’t a powerful attack, but there was always the chance that it could do some unexpected bonuses. The Dragon, gave indication that he listened to Lance other than closing his eyes as he began the Psych Up which would soon be followed by the Fire Fang.

Vipin was by far the faster and used a Flash decreasing the Zweilous's accuracy and increasing Vipin's evasiveness in turn. Then forming a Focus Blast, the Sceptile attacked. The Psych Up was an interesting move to play, and the Zweilous copped Vipin's stat changes increasing several fields of power. As the Fire Fang came at Vipin, the Sceptile just barely avoided it.
