Blood poured from her shoulder in a few places, and from the gaping hole in her left calf. At close range, the bullet had torn through the meat. Knight had ran his heart out, carrying the weak Iris, until she fell off, hitting her head on the hard ground. Gwen had done a number on Iris; the ex-assassin had bitten off more than she could chew. Now, Knight stood over his master, refusing to go back into his Pokeball. The Ponyta nudged Iris.
The world spun around her as she pulled out her cell phone, dialing the only number than came to mind. Now, to listen to the seemingly eternal ringing. "Come on....please pick up..." [/scrolly] |

In fact, he was at one of his own bars in Party Central withing Central capital tending to things before the madder rush came in. His spirits were rather light at the moment if a tad fatigued. Over the past few days, quite a lot of work had been getting done, and Lyall had barely found any real time to sleep. Despite this, a mix of adrenaline and the general buzz of people around him had kept him up well enough. Looking across from the bar as a few people played pool, not yet ordering anything but simply there to play and watch some tv, more or less, he sighed a bit but continued to grin to himself.
It was in another moment when his pocket began to vibrate. The blue haired man took out his phone from said pocket and flipped it open not even really looking at who the caller was. [/scrolly] |

The night was still very young, but already it was looking to be nice. Of course, the mere fact that Iris wasn't here helped that much. There were days she almost wanted to slap the woman for the way she fawned over Lyall, and some days she almost wanted to slap him for not noticing. ..Not that she would have been so likely to notice if she hadn't been giving him the same looks often enough, but that was entirely beside the point.
Second-in-command or no, Iris didn't know the Lyall that Alex did. She had been stalking him known him since they were knights- literally fought in battle beside him- and that clearly made her understanding and feelings superior. But none of that mattered tonight anyway. Tonight, Iris was gone doing whatever, and she could enjoy the evening hanging out with Lyall with only the bar patrons to worry about, and it was rare they really caught his eye too much, though a few certainly tried.
Yes, it really was win-win. A busy night meant more money, better Black Knight funds, and a happy bartender. A slow night meant they got to chat more- something that never grew dull working in a bar and hearing so much customer gossip to discuss. (What no that wasn't too girly of her.) Mmm, indeed. It was looking to be a nice peaceful evening; just so long as they didn't get anyone too rough, there wasn't much that could kill Alex's pleasant mood right now~
For now, until things picked up a bit and she was needed, she was just hanging out at the bar; and from here she heard the low hum of a cell phone. She didn't really think anything of it when Lyall went for his, and curiosity as to who was buzzing satisfied, she shifted over to contemplating whether she felt like having a few drinks when she got off duty, what she was currently in the mood for, and what might sound interesting to try mixing. Never knew when the next new best seller would leap into being, after all. Heh~

After all, she was in a bad way. "Lyall...It's Iris. I ran into a bit of trouble up North." When she spoke, her voice was weak and shaky, far from the usual. The fact that she called him by his full name instead of 'Ly' really showed how serious the situation was; she never called him anything but Ly. Her leg was throbbing, and her arm wasn't doing a whole lot better.
"Lyall, I'm hurt bad..." She squeezed her eyes shut, trying not to cry. What if she died here, and he never knew how she really felt? No. She couldn't die; not now. There was so much she had yet to do. On top of that, the feeling of pain was coupled by the fact that her predicament was all her fault. If she'd have stayed out West scouting like she was supposed to, this wouldn't have happened. "I'm not far from the Glacial Village...can't make it on my own. I need you..."
The woman stifled a cry of pain, her body trembling as she moved wrong. The phone dropped from her hand, and Iris Hennesy passed out from shock, lying in a pool of her own blood... [/scrolly] |

Up... north? She'd said she'd be going east not...Lyall frowned, yet as she continued, Lyall was already fishing at a jacket he had under the bar as his mind was trying not to instantly jump to conclusions and failing in the process. She'd lied about going, or maybe she hadn't and had just-? But then why - Damn it she'd said she was hurt so why was he wasting time with-
"Alright I'll be there- hello? Hello?" Lyall found that he had been pulling at his jacket for a good few seconds now and finally noticed that it was being shredded between a hook under the bar and his pulls at it. Finally just giving up with it, the blue haired man let go and started walking around out of his bar finally flipping the phone closed as it seemed he wouldn't be getting an answer. Damn it what was going on....?
"I'm going out for a bit," Lyall called still heading forwards and not really thinking over the fact that he was dropping all of what he had been doing and leaving the bar up to - well who? [/scrolly] |

The fact that he didn't seem to notice already put her on edge, and the look on his face confirmed something was definitely wrong. The question now was what, and the longer he stayed spaced out the edgier she got.
As he announced that he was leaving, Alex jumped from her barstool to chase after him. "Hey hold on!" She was barely old enough to drink, legally, and certainly couldn't bartend. Even without the whole license issue, she only knew how to make a few things, and most of those probably didn't turn out as good as Lyall's or Iris's anyway. Honestly, she wasn't even sure whether the thought of running the place alone or the fact that he was apparently telling her to scared her more. "What happened? Where're you going?"

"Iris ran into some trouble up north, apparently," he answered back forgetting for that brief moment about weapon names. However, after a moment, his mind went back to his bar, and he sighed before quickly fishing out his phone and dialing out a number to one of his other bartenders, Max. If he had to, he'd just kick everyone out and close up fast at that point. However, thankfully Max did pick up, and Lyall managed to keep his voice calm enough to even sound reasonably unfazed. "Hey Max, can you come over and work for a bit. I'm heading out for a bit," Lyall spoke into the phone and waited a moment before recieving a conformation that the man would be there in a few minutes. Turning then towards those at the bar, Lyall forced a grin. "Everyone sit tight. Max'll be here in a bit, see ya tomorrow if I don't see ya later," he called before once again walking out of his bar again in a relatively fast manner as his thoughts once again began their rush of sorts. Well, there was one disaster averted.. But now what about the rest?
When he was done with the phone and patrons, she again tailed him. "What kind of trouble?" Legitimate concern filled the androgynous voice. If Lyall was willing to just rush off like this... "Was she captured? Is she hurt?" This had to be a whole Black Knight affair.

"If someone was after her they could still be around; you need--
"--Oh hey where up north?" The thought suddenly hit her, and just as suddenly she'd jumped to it. "Did she say? My family might be closer than we are. Maybe I can call someone-..." She was a little too flustered trying to think how that would go to finish her thought, but imagined he got the point regardless. What no she wasn't suddenly less concerned about attackers when it was her family in question than when it was Lyall. They wouldn't attack random bypassers anyway; they'd be looking for... eh.. Oh, she was going to enjoy this. Of course, she couldn't let him know that. For a moment, she gave him a slightly awkward look, as if the slight blush she knew must have arisen was from discomfort-embarrassment rather than being a little giddy and flustered. Sighing slightly then, she moved to mount the mare as well and began to tease, "For the record, if you let me fall off, I'm kicking your--"
Suddenly, she dropped mid-mount back to the ground and looked back toward the bar a bit frantically. "I need Thunder.." Of course she brought her broadsword to work; who wouldn't? One never knew when a bar brawl might need a little extra convincing to settle down, and nothing quite said 'calm the fuck down' like the thread of being hacked in two~ Hurriedly heading back toward the door she called over her shoulder, "Your lance here, or you want it?"

Sure enough, it was located pretty quickly, and with it and her own sword she'd hurried back.
Once Lyall was again in position, she hesitated for just a moment. "...Sorry about this," she finally mumbled as she began to mount the mare. "Really, I'll work extra on Moonfire's training when this is over." Or maybe she wouldn't. It really kind of depended on how she was feeling, but she had to say it anyway. After all, it might seem a bit suspicious if he realized exactly how much she was enjoying this- locking one arm tight around him (good lord those abs<3) and pressing firmly against his back (so ah.. as to cut down wind resistance and reduce her chances of getting knocked off, of course).
Once everything was situated, she brought out a phone with her free hand (which would certainly be locked just as tightly around him as soon as she was done). "I'll see if my brother can't try to get to her before we do.." She was talking to herself almost more than him. "Go ahead and get-... treated.. yeah."

Now why hadn't he just gone and gotten her some reigns, seriously, Lyall. "Alright Cia, head north! Towards Glacial Village," Lyall stated before making a directional point that, though it had been made fast, was oddly correct. Shaking her head (and her neck in turn), Cia quite literally reared, causing Lyall to slide just a tad before his legs tightened around her sides, before breaking into a dashing run straight through the capital. Lyall, meanwhile, was tightening his legs harder on the side of the horse, and his hands tightened more onto the fiery hair of sorts. Thus, they were off, and given the sheer speed of the horse, Lyall couldn't help but feel proud. She was a good warhorse but also pretty fast (even if she was carrying two people in tow).
They darted straight out of the capital and headed north, but the speedy horse had to break off her break neck pace due to the weight on her back and slowed (if only a bit) as she melted into a long distance run. Lyall, meanwhile, stared up over the Rapidash making sure she was at least going in the right direction as they rode. [/scrolly] |

As Cia dropped back to all fours and Alex pulled herself closer, she could feel her heart fluttering slightly. She just prayed he wouldn't notice the pounding- or.. maybe he would assume it was from fear. Yes that sounded like a good-... Actually it kind of was fear, too, but.. Well whatever.
As tempting as it was to stay clinging, she knew it would be a pretty long ride, to a point she'd probably be sick of the idea of snuggling for at least a few days as it was, and she did need to call. As such, she soon loosened her hold again and found her twin's number. Naturally Dávid knew all about the Black Knights and her involvement, though she never went into too many details (but was pretty sure he somehow knew most of their plans anyway), and when he answered she quickly explained the basics.
"Huh?" Did he just say he was-... No no but that wasn't close at all! What was he doing way out there? "--Are you sure you couldn't get there even a little before us?" When it came to her fellow knights, any advantage was one she wanted, but it seemed her dear brother just couldn't make it. But then he offered-.. "Mm? ... Oh! Er, yeah if you know someone else near there who you think we can trust."
The name to follow turned her blood cold.
"No," she cut him off. The indistinct hum from her phone sounded very distinctly for a moment like an 'oh come on' before drifting off into something else incoherent. "Not him, Dávid- just NO." A little more argument from the other side, and "I don't care if he's harmless, he's-- ... But he--.. Yes I want to help her but there's bound to--" He was really pushing this...
;-; Why was he really pushing this?
Alex gave a heavy sigh. "No, I know he knows." How could he not? "I know. I just don't-- .... Agghhhhh. I still think you're doing this shit on purpose." She huffed another sigh. "Just remember if he happens to end up dying that that could have been anyone." What was intended as grim humor honestly came out just sort of grim, considering their mysterious contact could well be killed by whoever attacked Iris... "Yeah, I-... just thought of that.. That's why I wanted you to go so you'd know if anyone was nearby... Guess I hope for his sake that his Pokemon can protect him well enough. ... Yeah, I know. .. You too. ... All right, I'll talk to you later then."
With a last sigh, she closed the phone and slipped it back in her pocket before locking both arms again around Lyall and leaning her head on his back somewhat listlessly. "Brothers..." she groaned.

Who would want to fall off a horse? Though he was more focused on the road (he didn't doubt Cia's ability to get them there... but he felt better paying attention), Lyall did hear a bit of what Alex said. Something about her brother not being there...? Ah suck. However, as Alex continued, Lyall found his eye sliding back questioningly before quickly moving forwards again least Cia take some wrong turn. Once Alex had gotten off the phone, Lyall turned his head back. "What'd he say?" he asked. Possibly not the most original of questions, but it was a question none the less. [/scrolly] |

You remember my family serves some nobles up north?" It was a legitimate question, as she didn't really mention that often, but not one she expected to be answered. "He's gonna call their..... master.." The word was all but vomited, and Alex rolled her eyes.
"I warn you, he's pretty terrible even by noble standards, but he should be harmless at least to us." Of course, by 'terrible' she meant 'obnoxious arrogant asswipe'. "Hopefully he can" keep it in his pants long enough to "help keep her safe and steady until we get there." Oh god 'unconscious girls can't say no', I swear to anything holy if he messes with her.. Despite the rather disturbing imagery now passing through her head, she gave Lyall little indication that anything else could be wrong.

The second statement was enough to cause him to physically flinch causing Cia to tense in turn and let out an irritated snort. "Ah...er....ah...." Lyall mumbled a little unable to find anything else to say.
At the warning, Lyall found himself rolling his eyes unintentionally. Ugh, nobles, but if said noble could keep an eye on Iris and keep her safe, then that was what mattered. Realizing he was staring backwards now, Lyall looked forwards once more finding that Cia was still headed in the correct direction still. "....I hope she's alright..." he sighed genuinely feeling bad at the moment despite the fact that he couldn't have foreseen anything of this nature. [/scrolly] |
