it's general knowledge within the fandom that Act 1 is pretty slow comparatively
I personally like it but most don't care for it much \o/
but yes after Act 1 it really gains steam and doesn't really slow down again (even the "frivolous" things end up being tied into plot etc \o/ )

When I go to school in a few weeks, and Mr Park, the drama teacher, asks what we did all summer, Im going to say "I was Homestuck." Normal people would think "Oh she must mean she was stuck at home. What a loser." and Homestucks would think "Oh my god she is a Homestuck I want to be friends with her forever now." And it will be amazing.
