[ Delilah | Kali ] Kali sighed as she stared up at the sky. These clouds didn't bode well with her at all, and deep down some part of her was desperately crying out to run for cover. Of course, she knew what it was. The dreary day reminded her of her first time in Wharfenfair. That day... She cracked a smirk; heh. That day was kind of amusing now, looking back, even if it had torn her to pieces. No matter her opinion on the rest of the day, though, nothing quite made the tropical storm part seem any less unpleasant. Of course, this already wasn't like then; back then, the storm came with no warning, and started out by.... raining fish... Today though? It was just gray and dull and depressing, atop the mildly unnerving bit from her past experience. She really hoped that the woman she was awaiting would show up soon. Allegedly, she had a rather interesting Grovyle she was willing to give up, and Kali was always on the lookout for things to make more badass dragons. Even if the coloration wasn't as impressive as the ad had described, a female would be good to have, and one that wasn't related to Septimus might end up being better on bloodlines. ...That, and she really did want this hybrid she was thinking of trading to go to a good home. The poor thing just... did not make good Shadow fodder. Rare was the creature Kali felt bad Shadowing versus just thinking its natural fury was more useful, but.... This thing just really really didn't need to be one. She was attuned for a.... very specific taste, and most people who'd be into Shadows..... She just really needed a good home. As such, she stood outside the local Pokemon Center waiting... and waiting... - Delilah wrinkled her nose at the smell of the nearby docks. She usually liked the beach well enough, though she'd rather be deep in a forest or out in a meadow any day, but the fish. They were tasty enough, but so many was just... Uugh, she had to breathe shallow to keep her lunch at times. Hopefully this wouldn't take too long, or they could at least find somewhere more comfortable to discuss matters. Delilah had a horrible habit of telling herself she was going to go Pokemon hunting and then... just never actually doing it. So not long ago a friend had suggested she try trading instead of just buying all the time. Of course, the only Pokemon she was even somewhat willing to part with was Victoria, the Grovyle she'd won in a Spring Festival game by pure chance, and even that was rather grudging. Still, she decided it couldn't hurt to see what people would offer, and thus, with descriptions of the sorts of things she might look for in return, she'd put out an ad. To her surprise, she actually got a call back with something that sounded amazing, though the meeting place left something to be desired. The call had been a Scorch number, but she insisted it was a public phone (apparently not having even a home phone; really, there were still people like that?) and it would be much easier to meet here in... Fish-ville.. Well, hopefully it was worth it. Within a few minutes, she finally came upon the Pokemon center and spied a presumably teenage girl waiting outside, instantly giving a small sound of disgust as she rolled her eyes. She knew the difference between an intentionally forced figure and a girl who was just naturally a twig (*coughFaith*, poor thing.. heh), and while she was occasionally wrong, this little girl did not look like the latter. She could already tell this was going to be fun... "Kalista?" came the sultry if hesitant voice. The name brought its owner out of her daydream and her attention to the speaker. ...Dear Arceus she's going to eat me, Kali thought in disgust, trying to keep any more than the slightest flicker of this from tainting the casual smile on her face. "That's right." Continuing to look the woman over, she caught sight of two Buneary trailing at her heels: one jet black and the other sparkly pink. Well, at least the Pokemon were cute. "I take it you're Delilah then?" asked the teen. The older woman smirked slightly. "That's right," she half-mocked, but immediately took on a lighter tone as she motioned to her friends. "And these babies.." she motioned to the Shiny, "are Mrs. Naomi McFlopsykins the Second," and to the Melanistic, "and Emery Dustbunny."Kali's shock was clearly visible as a moment as she blinked several times, taken aback. Shaking it off, she gave a slightly uncomfortable laugh. "That's quite a mouthful.." Something gave her an odd feeling this woman would not be fond of Shadow Pokemon.. She couldn't help wondering if all her Pokemon had such ludicrously lengthy human-sounding names. "..Dare I ask who I came to look at?" she not-quite-teased. Delilah just chuckled lightly, not only used to such reactions but rather enjoying them. "That.." she began, taking a PokeBall from her pocket and released a beautifully black-marbled Grovyle, who took form with a rather high air of refined dignity. "Would be Victoria von Vanity~"The latest arrival glanced up at Kali before looking her over a few times. Delilah had explained what may be happening, not wanting her to just wake up one day in a new home or the like, so naturally she had to evaluate her potential trainer.. Hmm... After a few moments, she breathed out a neutral "Vyle.." She was hardly nobility (though neither was Delilah), but she looked nice enough on the outside. She knew it would take time to get to know what was inside, too, and all, but the outside definitely counted for quite a bit in her eyes. [/blockquote]

Get back here!" The sudden voice belonged to a rather worried looking woman who appeared to be rushing over toward the pair. Aya, a sparkling black Buneary, had hopped calmly over toward Emery and sniffed at him faintly before smiling and hugging him. This was... actually a rather excited response from the extremely calm Pokemon. Ruka seemed quite surprised and, for a moment, didn't quite understand what was going on. Then it suddenly dawned on her that it must be a relative.
Looking up at the one she assumed was the owner, she smiled warmly at Delilah. Then she quickly realized that there was another woman, which likely meant she was intruding on an already established conversation "Ah... um, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt or anything..." Peering curiously from around her shoulders was a completely white Dratini. He said nothing, but seemed quite interested in the whole situation. From her bag, with a slightly different look of interest was her Jollaby (hybrid), Jacques. The melanistic-shiny Buneary still had yet to remove herself from her sister, seeming glad to see the other bunny despite their differences. [/scrolly] |

[ Delilah | Kali ] Kali had actually been the first to notice Ruka, but had paid her no mind at first. They were in front of a Pokemon Center, after all; there were a million reasons one might be rushing to one. Emery himself had been deep in conversation with Flopsy regarding the intricacies of achieving perfectly sparkling glass, and had ended up taken completely by surprise by the sudden feeling of someone sniffing at him. Turning even as he subconsciously took in the newcomer's scent, he saw his sister just in time to catch her opening her arms for a hug and more or less leapt into it even from the few inches he stood away. A bright cry of "NEARY, NEARY!!<3" rang out, as unintelligible to Pokemon ears as human ones, no actual PokeSpeech accompanying the exclamation. It was this sound which got Delilah's attention, followed by Ruka's voice. The darker woman just almost succeeded in fully hiding her small start at realizing hot damn there was a person right behind her (or beside, whatever), but whatever showed through was quickly replaced by a half-sweet, half-coy smile. This shifted again to something more -y and allowed a small gasp as she then looked from Ruka down to the source of the original noise. Kali could not deny she was mildly impressed with the woman's Pokemon, but neither could she say that helped her be less annoyed. Victoria here really was gorgeous, and she kind of wanted to get on with discussions. While she doubted the new woman was running around with these Pokemon out just to advertise, though, she didn't want to drive her away, and ended up with a forced if mostly convincing smile. "Well, you kind of d-""HOW PRECIOUS!" came Delilah's normally-deep voice, higher than any who knew her had ever heard it unless they'd had the fortune of witnessing just such a situation as this. Without hesitation, she dropped to a kneeling position to get a better view, openly utterly fawning over Emery's apparent 'twin'. She... couldn't be certain, but she could swear that the new bunny's fur shimmered more than Emery's, in such a glitter-like manner that it reminded her of Flopsy. Said Flopsy had jumped back a bit when Emery jumped toward his sister, but now found herself drawing nearer with intrigue. Could this be a new friend, maybe? Meanwhile, Victoria just cocked an eye-ridge slightly, then gave a small smile and shook her head. Lilah's rabbits were so hyper, but this time it did seem to be warranted enough... heh. Kali refused the urge to huff indignantly or roll her eyes, settling for lightly clearing her throat instead. "Delilah?"She wasn't ignored, because she wasn't heard in the first place. Having had just a few moments for her brain to start working again, the logic flaw had struck Delilah, who gave a wry if clearly a bit confused look and half-teased, half-legitimately asked the rabbits, "Now how do you two know each other, hm?" Kali twitched slightly, then forced herself to focus on the Grovyle and remember this would be worth it. It couldn't be worse than a grueling battle (in which she may or may not be personally mauled).... right? [/blockquote]

She could tell that Kali was not happy with her intrusion and was quick to apologize. "I'm really sorry about this..." After offering different variants of this, she sighed slightly and looked back to her Buneary and the others around her.
Once the question was posed toward the two Buneary, the woman smiled. "Um, well... I think I can answer that. Pokemon obviously grow differently than normal animals and it's a common theory among breeders that a Pokemon egg is less an embryonic stage and more just another evolutionary stage. It's fairly frequent that Pokemon actually know and recognize their clutchmates even if they never actually met after 'hatching'. My guess is that we received eggs from the same group and these two are related in some way." Ruka actually felt like she was over-explaining it, but didn't want to be vague, either. Either way, her own shiny-melanistic Buneary nodded once at this, now loosening her grip on her brother. [/scrolly] |

[ Delilah | Kali ] Both of the other women, despite the younger's initial annoyance, ended up listening to the explanation rather intently. Both were quite interested in breeding themselves, really: the dark woman always trying for varieties of Buneary and hybrids thereof, and actually aspiring to breed Buneary and/or normal rabbits for a living someday; the pale one quite intrigued by the aesthetic variations and apparent battle advantages of hybrids, as well as the use of heritage to get Shiny and other alternate-colored Pokemon in more species. "That's fascinating," came the reply in near-unison, even if Lilah's end came with more awe and Kali's with more intrigue. Almost immediately, they looked to each other, a bit shocked, but while Kali leered and tried to pretend she hadn't, Lilah couldn't help but breathe out a small laugh- probably as much at Kali's reaction as the initial event. "So are you a breeder yourself, then, or just know a bit about it?" The smallest of the three girls thought to keep the conversation moving rather than dwell on that.. oddity. She was, of course, painfully aware that she was the smallest- both in the sense she was proud of, Ruka being a bit fluffy and Delilah.. yeh; and in the sense that they may as well have towered over her, even if one was only a few inches taller and the other would have been less than two without the somewhat thick soles on her shoes. The male Buneary, meanwhile, had digressed into a lengthy rant about his name was Emery now and that was his trainer and this was Flopsy and how had his sister been and was that her trainer and what was her name now and what were they doing here and oh he and his friends were here to meet that girl there and she was supposed to have a new friend for them to meet! Flopsy occasionally jumped in with bits of backup- Yup! She was Flopsy and nice to meet his sister! A new friend, a new friend for us! [/blockquote]

My parents both are and I was brought up around many Pokemon. I have other skills that I use for a steady income, though. It's... sometimes difficult to let go of the babies," she admitted with a small giggle. "Ah, but I'm trying to specialize in the Human-shape egg group. I have plenty that aren't from it, but... well, let's just say I might as well own a farm of my own at this rate. Um, but anyway... You two were having a conversation before we came along." This seemed to be more a reminder to Lilah since it seemed she'd forgotten in favor of fawning over the Pokemon.
Aya mostly nodded in reaction to her brother's words but did offer Flopsy a nod and a paw to shake in greeting when the other Buneary was introduced. Then she expressed what her name was now, with an explanation that her trainer was part Japanese and knew the language, so that's where her name came from. In this process, she also explained that she was doing well and yes, that was her trainer and her name was Ruka. She was a nice lady, even if she did like to... well, get Pokemon to have eggs; no forcing, though, it was always the Pokemon's choice. The explanation as to why they were in this particular place was vague at best, but it seemed they were here for the fish. Something about 'the best sushi ingredients', maybe. [/scrolly] |

[ Delilah | Kali ] "Ah, yes, she was just showing me her Grovyle here. We were considering a trade." She motioned to Victoria, who had simply been remaining quiet and listening contently to conversation. Unfortunately for Kali, Delilah had an honest gift for ignoring whatever part of conversations didn't suit her. The little gray girl had already seen her Grovyle, and she could tell she wanted it. If she looked like she was trying to leave, then Delilah would shift quicker, but she didn't think she would too soon. "Ah! Buneary are Human-like!" she exclaimed. "I'd like to specialize in breeding them someday~" Her smile was sweet, but quickly faded into something almost mildly annoyed. "Though.. thus far I.. never really seem to get around to it.."If the Pokemon could be understood, that much would be obvious as the more hyper bunnies listened to the calm one. ......Eggs??? Both flushed furiously at the mere thought, before Emery found himself looking to a bewildered Flopsy briefly. Fortunately she didn't notice him before he shook his head violently. Kali leered a bit, but then smiled lightly and took on a tone to match. Well then, if this bitch wasn't going to acknowledge her normally... "I've experimented with breeding quite a bit," she announced proudly. "That's what your Grovyle would be used for. I especially like working with draconic hybrids." The Dragon-type love had never really been a strong thing for her, but then once she got into collecting she quickly realized it was coveted and valuable for selling, and between that and Kjaerlighet she'd eventually developed a personal taste too. "And that's where this hybrid I was going to offer came from." The past tense was quite important there. Delilah, unfortunately, didn't seem to note it. "How funny." Kind of like the awful smell of these fish, which never stopped being a thing. "Would you both like to maybe go inside or somewhere else more comfortable, then?" Kali resisted the urge to facepalm. "Oh, she is quite impressive!" Not wanting to ask why the heavier-set woman wanted to trade such an amazing specimen, she instead seemed to fall into an awkward uncertainty. She wasn't sure what to say and, as a result, the moment Delilah spoke, she perked up, excited to have something else to respond to. "Yes, indeed," she offered brightly. "I sort of specialize in the Human-like egg group. I have plenty of other Pokemon, but I try to focus most of my breeding efforts on that egg group."
After the bashful and awkward reactions from the other Buneary, Odayaka fidgeted somewhat. However, she was quickly calm again and just shrugged at them. If she said no, she knew Ruka wouldn't make her. Besides... it wasn't as if her mating candidates were anything less than beautiful 90% of the time.
Ruka returned her gaze to the other woman when she started to talk about how she had experimented with breeding. However, she then quickly mentioned the trade and the black-haired woman felt a trickle of sweat slide down her face. "Ah, that's right... I'm sorry to have interrupted. If you need to return to your business, I'll be on my way. Or... if it's alright with both of you, maybe I can join you? I can offer Pokemon for breeding pairs to either of you, for instance!" Since she herself preferred to breed with others than just her own Pokemon, she hoped one of them might like the idea as well. [/scrolly] |

[ Delilah | Kali ] Kali blinked a bit at this new suggestion. The interruption was annoying... but if that Buneary was sparkling as much as it looked like, this girl just might have something worth looking at as well. Anyway, she really did like Victoria, and since Delilah seemed to have taken such a shine to the newcomer, well.. She supposed going along with it and seeing what was on the table sounded better than just waiting for Miss ADD here to remember her. "..I guess inside sounds fine."Delilah had to withhold a bit of disappointment. She'd really have quite preferred getting further from the docks, but hopefully as long as they didn't sit too close to the door it would be all right.. In the meantime, Kali grabbed the door and started to head in- before at the last second thinking better and holding it for them instead. ".. Ah. I'm Kalista, by the way."Ah, right, introductions~ Nodding a bit of thanks to Kali as she stepped in- having been closer than Ruka and all- she thought on it a moment before becoming quite sure her name had been said already since the blue-eyed girl arrived. Eh, it didn't hurt in case she hadn't caught it. "And I'm Delilah," she mentioned over her shoulder. "And you were?"In the meantime, Flopsy happily bounced in with Delilah, while Emory grabbed Odayaka by the paw and dragged his dear sister in with him. Spying a spot that looked comfy, he headed there with her to--- Oh dear was that a smudge? Suddenly dropping her paw, he stared at it blankly for several moments before fidgeting slightly. <..One second..> he mumbled. Pulling down his currently-extended ear, he spit on its puffball- (he'd find some disinfectant if he could, too, but just in case his own fluids were certainly quite preferable to him over... dirt..)- and began scrubbing rather ferverantly. Stupid leather or pleather or whatever it was always getting spots and... :X Oh he liked their nice fabric couch at home that he could just vacuum most of the time... assuming he could get Liam to stop drinking soda on it, Arceus dammit. >:X [/blockquote]

Following after Delilah, she looked a bit surprised. "Oh! I'm Ruka. It's very nice to meet both of you," she said with haste but sincerity. "And thank you," she offered back to Kali, both for holding the door and allowing her to come with them in the first place.
Odayaka followed along after her brother before tilting her head when he dropped her paw to clean the seat. She chuckled faintly at him, but waited patiently before hopping up once he was finished. As she relaxed into the seat, Ruka went to find her own seat where both Delilah and Kali could comfortably sit as well. "I suppose... I'll stay quiet for now so you two can find an agreement on the trade first." Stating this, she glanced toward Victoria and smiled. [/scrolly] |
