Being a city girl, her first footsteps on the rocky terrain were exciting, like the taste of a new adventure. She squinted at the harsh sun beating down on her pale face; the skyscrapers usually blocked the sun, like the canopy of a forest. She was unused to balancing on the unstable rocks that jutted from the dry land. She stumbled some, but she was able to manage, as she was encouraged by her restless Luxray, always racing ahead, but circling back to meet her struggling master. Finally she came to a small spot of flat ground, dust whirling around her sore feet. She whipped around, for she could have sworn she felt something watching her. Tempest stopped sniffing the ground, as she watched intently, her ears erect. Slowly she rounded a rough sandstone rock and she rested in the shade for a brief moment, Tempest right on her heel. She was afraid what they may find, but she risked it, and stepped into the wild.

The area of the Red Mesa was known for its heat, yet it didn't seem to worry the pokemon that were there. A Swablu flew about rather lighthearted gliding on the air just above the actual rock. If one actually stopped to watch him, one would see that the Swablu's color was actually quite off. Rather than blue, a gold could be seen, and if one had enough understanding of what variations existed in pokemon, one would be able to tell that he was shiny. Farther off, a group of four Spinarak could be seen jerking around rather rapidly in unison with one another. If one drew closer, one could see a fifth Spinarak moving in a sort of break dancing way.

Tabithia breathed a sigh of relief, it was only a fluffy gold bird. She was a little surprised that such a small cloud-like winged creature could survive in the intense heat of the Red Mesa. Even though the bird wasn't intimidating, she still wanted to catch it, having very few Pokemon. Tempest growled, but didn't move, as she saw the intentness of her master's eye. Tabithia strained to keep focused on the small bird's slight movements, but the bright sunlight made her squint, hoping not to scare it away. She noticed the bugs, but the scared her, what if the attacked her, so she decided on the swablu. She reached into her bag and pulled out a pokeball, shifting it gently from hand to hand. She whirled back her arm, then released. But she didn't see what had happened. Her eyes were closed.

The pokeball hit the Swablu and caused the startled bird to be drawn in rather quickly. However, even before the ball could start to shake, it broke, and the Swablu exploded out of the ball looking rather furiously at the girl. Forming a Fury Attack, the Swablu charged not at any of the girl's pokemon but at the girl herself as though seeking retirubution for the ball having been thrown.

Tabithia screamed, and Tempest jumped in front of her, she knew Tabithia had a tendency to scream at everything, but now she was in dire need of help. Tabithia was shocked, one: because the pokeball had failed, two: because the bird looked angry, and three: she had just started a battle. Tempest took the full blow of the Fury attack, throwing her back a ways, but she got up, a little unstable though. Tabithia said one thing, Spark. She had seen Temepest use it before, and thought it could do some damage to the enraged swablu. Tempest roared in reponse, and released a beam of electricity, straight towards the now innocent looking Swablu.

The electricity was a harsh hit to the Swablu. The bird pokemon, not yet part dragon as was custom upon evolution, was hit by the super effective move and cried out startled from the attack. Cringing deeply, he frowned and shook out his feathers defiantly. He wasn't going to go down just like that, no sir! Forming a Dragon Pulse somehow deep within, the Swablu released the attack at the Luxray. Well, at least the girl herself wasn't attacked this time, it seemed.

The luxray saw the bird get hit pretty hard and was statisfied by it's 'stunned' reaction. Tabithia saw it coming, the swablu's mouth start to open something boiling inside, but her luxray did not. She was overtaken byt the bea of indigo light, the force rushing around her engulfing her. Tabithia screamed, again, was her pokmon going to be swallowed by this tiny bird? As the beam receeded, Tabithia saw her pokemon, limp and tired, but she saw the fury in her eyes. One more damage dealing move and I'll catch him , I promise, she whispered to her sore luxray. She called out Bite, a dark type move surley to weaken her foe.

The Bite chomped down on the Swablu, and the blue bird pokemon cringed rather hard at the attack. The attack not only did damage but also made him flinch in that moment. He'd already taken damage, and it was bad enough that he was fighting something that had an obvious advantage over him, yet the Swablu was too proud even in this moment to admit defeat. Instead, he simply fought for consciousness.

Proudness welled up inside Tabithia when she saw the exhuagasted swablu; Tempest looked tried but content, she had finished this battle. She wearliy slumped and sat down panting as the electricity in her fur fizzled out. She ran to her and put her back into her ball hoping she could find a pokemon center soon. She now focused on her prize; the bird looked dazed and weak, this was her chance! She pulled out another empty pokeball, and chuked it at the bird. She was hoping for the best.

The pokeball hit the Swablu, and though he couldn't prevent the ball from consuming him in red light, the Swablu did, in fact, unleash a peck at it just as he was sucked in. However, after that came the trial of sorts. The pokeball shook quite a bit before finally settling in a 'ding' of capture. Well that wasn't bad for a start, eh?
Name: Species: Shiny Swablu Gender: Male Ability: Cloud Nine Personality: Bold and proud, this Swablu believes himself to be an aerial master of some sort. He has quite a gift for flying and uses it to his advantage whenever possible. He can be a bit obnoxious at times, often questioning his trainer and comrades on things that they believe. Seeing himself as very logical and controlled, he likes to pop the bubbles of people's illusions especially illusions of grandeur and the like. He adores the heat and find himself actually more comfortable when it is steaming hot outside rather than when it is cold. In contrast, anything that is cold was ... well sent from hell, if one cold say such a thing. He utterly despises the cold and anything even remotely related to it (ie: snow).

Tabtihia was relieved. The whole battle was a blur but now that it was over she remembered bits and pieces. She ran up to the pokeball containing the bird and reached for it, afraid the Swablu may have the smallest amount of energy to attack her. But he didn't, and she placed him in her bag carefully, trying not to jostle the newly caught Pokemon. She was ready to set off on another adventure, hoping to run into more Pokemon.

The Spinarak had scattered quickly when the previous battle had started and didn't seem to be coming back. However, if the young woman looked far off to the east, she could see a cave of some sort. At the very entrance to it, a wing could be seen flapping quickly before settling... before flapping again...hmmm....
