At first, he hadn't believed what he overheard from passerby... a bombing in the Capital? Just the idea seemed to Farfetch'd to Xavier. Yet... it didn't take long for the reality to sink in; people were dead, a bomb did go off, and no one was sure who to blame. Xavier already had his speculations, however; the Rebels. It was just typical of them, really... to do such radical, violent things. Anarchists... he couldn't stand them. He just couldn't stand them.
He was roused by a small cry and turned to look towards the front of the shelter, noticing a small girl come in. She looked fine, but was crying heavily. With a frown, he approached her and knelt down, tapping her shoulder. "Oii, are you okay?" He asked softly, the girl looking to him and shaking her head, clinging to a Miltank doll. "I can't find mommy..." She whined with a small hiccup. Xavier's brow furrowed and he stood, taking her by the hand and leading the girl towards a staff member, muttering her situation into their ear. The member sighed but nodded, taking the girl from him. He could only watch with a heavy heart.
A hand suddenly fell onto his shoulder and he turned, finding himself face to face with his father. "Dad?" At first, Xavier was shocked, but quickly recovered and pressed himself into the older man for a tight hug, to which Jacob returned. "I was wondering where you were when..." He spoke, trailing off with a shake of his head. "It is such a shame." He released Xavier, adopting a somber visage.
Just with his father's appearance, Xavier felt more at ease, one more paranoia put to rest. His father was alright. He could care less about their quarrel over his orientation, he... still loved his father, and it was such a relief to see him alright. "I'm glad you're okay..." He mumbled, Jacob nodding his silent agreement, glancing around the shelter briefly. "I thought I might find you here... but that's enough banter." He said suddenly, frowning deeply and taking on a pensive look. "I am the bearer of very bad news, so... let us find somewhere to sit." He then turned, looking around the shelter. Ugh, it was so crowded and disgusting... "Outside." He then added, starting outdoors.
Xavier followed, having become very nervous about this 'news'. If there was one thing he knew about his father, 'news' was never a good thing, coming from him. The last time he had 'news' it was about him breaking up with mother, and prior to that it had been... what... bad business, he thinks. It was never good, regardless, and with what happened just recently... it had to relate to that. But how? Did someone he know die? Or was this just business related?
Finally coming to a stop outside, Jacob sighed and turned, fixing Xavier with a calculating look. "This is enough, even if there is nowhere to sit, its outside of that cramped place." He fell silent for a moment, considering Xavier, before dropping his gaze to the ground, looking very remorseful. "I wish I'd never have to say something like this, Xavier, but... your mother is dead." He paused, heaving another heavy sigh and looking at Xavier, whose face was riddled with shock. "She had been shopping, when... it happened." Another pause. "I'm sorry."
Yet Xavier wasn't listening anymore. He simply stared at his father, trying to absorb the information he just told him. His mother was... dead? But no, she couldn't be... she was very much alive the last time he saw her, just a few days prior. It wasn't true. Every aspect of his mind fervently denied it, but... the look on Jacob's face, and... just... "You're wrong." He snapped suddenly, taking a step backwards, looking panicked. "She's fine! She's at home, and... probably worried sick! You're wrong, father!" His voice became higher pitched as he ranted on, turning on his heel suddenly and throwing a Poke'ball forward, releasing Orli the Dragonite from within. "Home, Orli, hurry!" He called, leaping onto her back. The Dragonite took off immediately, neither of them taking a backwards glance to Jacob.
Jacob hummed, a wide smirk taking over his previously somber features. "Oh no, I'm far from wrong my dear boy..." He mumbled, watching Orli vanish in the distance. He then began to laugh, turning on his heel and walking away. "And you won't find her there..." He chuckled further, pleasantly amused. Of course it had been a lie; Casey hadn't died in the blast, not at all. However, the bombing did make for a good cover-up for... murder. It was all too convenient to pass up.
"One down, one to go..." Jacob sneered, laughing once more, before leaving the scene.
