X3 I'm assuming most of us have played this game?
"Go, Blastoise!"
"Luxray, use Discharge!"
"Dugtrio, use Earthquake!"
And so-on and so forth?
WELL~ In a ridiculously sudden flash of inspiration, SG has come up with a way to earn Festival Prizes with this~
SG will start by giving a random Pokemon which will not count for anything; it's just to present an initial target. THEN, the game will ask the first poster to send out a Pokemon they own to use a STAB (same-type) Super-effective move on this target. (This means while your Pikachu can use Thunderbolt, your Starmie cannot. It would have to use Hydro Pump, Psychic, etc.) NORMAL-TYPES are an exception to this, considering that they have no type advantage (and considering often pretty diverse move pools, they're likely to be valuable assets x3).
X3 From then on, players will be doing the same on the poster above them. The character to whom the attacking Pokemon belongs will get 1 Point, which can be exchanged at the end of the game for 1 Token or $200.
The catch? ... X3 Well. CatchES.
You cannot use the same Pokemon more than once~! Exception noted below.
Also, you must use AT LEAST SIX (or all, if you have less than six) of your characters once BEFORE you can use the rest again! (Why six? Because that's a full party of Pokemon! XP *SHOT*) x3 NPCs and WIPs are not required in your minimums, but can be used if you so choose. However, whenever you add a char (full, WIP, or NPC), you MUST keep using all of them. (If you already had six characters you were using, and then you bring in another, you now have to use all seven before using them again.) The only way to stop using a character is if he or she runs out of Pokemon.
If this happens, you can CHOOSE to either start over, gaining one more use of every Pokemon they own until you're out again, repeat if desired, etc; OR you can stop using them. If you reuse, you'll get the choice each time they run out if it happens again to renew again or quit. You cannot bring a character back in once he or she has been removed, though! If you remove a char, (s)he's done and cannot earn ANY more points in this game. However, you will not be required to fill that slot, which means your other characters can post more often.
X3 This means that both large and small Pokemon collections hold distinctive advantages and disadvantages. A character with many many Pokemon is unlikely to find a situation where he or she gets stuck for lack of a type advantage, but is also pretty much stuck in the game even if the player would rather earn points with someone else. A character with very few may not always have the needed type advantage (but is not penalized beyond that due to ability to reuse Pokemon once exhausted if desired |D), but presents the potential to lower the required number of rounds before a more desired character can earn more points faster.
\o/ BALANCED YES I HOPE? GOOD<3
To SUPER FUCKING AMAZING help SG out as well as make sure things stay in line, I'm also going to ask you to track your own points. x'3 You can track which Pokemon you've used so far if you want, but you aren't required to as that could get hectic. I will be double-checking to ensure consistency of points and to make sure rules were followed and requirements met, so please do not try cheating. x3 It'll just help if I don't have to track from scratch.
Also, PLEASE use the format shown in the examples, which names which character, what species the Pokemon is, nickname to specify which one if multiples, and the attack used. (It's worth noting that the STRENGTH of the attack doesn't actually matter as long as it is in fact a damage-dealing move. X3 You cannot 'beat' a Magmortar with Aqua Ring, but you CAN beat it with Bubble. XP)
SO~ If this has been confusing because I really hope it hasn't but SG's explanations tend to be, EXAMPLES BELOW<3 For this example, I'm doing the theoretical first post, and then using Jay, Kero, and myself.
As you can see, the actual wording on posts isn't really important. Just make sure you have the four things required: character, species, name if they have one (I'm assuming they only have one of that species if they didn't name them, though), and attack.
You are not required to reuse all your chars in the same ORDER. Just to reuse them within a round. This means at any time a score could look like...
GOOD:
Alaric: 3 | Delilah: 2 | Kali: 3 | Ryan: 2 | Van: 2 | Alex: 3
In that hypothetical instance, I just have to earn another point of each of Delilah, Ryan, and Van before I can use Alaric, Kali, or Alex again. However, points should not look like...
BAD:
Alaric: 1 | Delilah: 4 | Kali: 3 (etc)
(... "x3;; Edit: Unless of course... in the example above since the 'etc' doesn't show how many other chars are there, if Alaric was only recently brought in.... Uh... Maybe find some way to make a note if that happens or just... :'3 Be sure to keep up with it well. Shush.)
In the event that you use all of a character's Pokemon and remove him or her from the game, please keep his or her point total in your posts, but make note when you remove him or her and mark his or her name in some way (perhapsslashed through) to indicate this has been done and avoid confusion. :3
-----------------------------------------------
|D I hope this explanation has been clear enough; just let me know if there are any questions.
On a final very important note,
SPIRITOMB, SABLEYE, AND THE TYNAMO FAMILY ARE BANNED FROM THIS COMPETITION for what I hope are obvious reasons.
X3 Thank you.
This contest will end at a date to be later determined when I see how popular it is~ So without further ado, I hope you guys have fun!
----
EDIT!: From now on (4:30pm EST 9/15/2011) if your Pokemon has an ability that gives it an extra immunity (Flash Fire, Water Absorb, Volt Absorb, or Lightningrod), PLEASE NOTE IT in order to gain that immunity. If you forget to note it, the player to follow will not be penalized for not taking the time to dig into your PC. :'3
Of course, if a Pokemon would be made weakness-less by an ability, it can't be used, just like Tynamo.
