X3; Since apparently a lot of people either didn't see the old thread or forgot about it or just didn't think their reasons were important enough to mention or whatever and no one at all replied to the previous trivia thread to say whether they would or wouldn't be there, SG has decided to schedule much further in advance this time~ |D Also, you'll notice a big (not-actually-very-)colorful countdown clock has been added to the sidebar. X3 So anyone claiming not to have seen it can expect SG to thwack them.
X3 As stated there, it's currently scheduled for SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, and will possibly once again be continued the following Sunday, though this remains to be seen. Currently, it is scheduled for 11am Pacific time, noon Mountain, 1pm Central, 2pm Eastern, and 3pm Tere. If anyone has a problem please let me know; even if you think it's silly or you'll just be a little bit later on showing up or whatever. 'x3; I won't outright reschedule anyway unless multiple people need it, but I like knowing what to expect<3
(... :'3 I remember last night someone asked what time it was for Ez and I remember what he said but not what time it was for me so I don't know which Aussie time zone he lives in but I'm gonna assume the start time is somewhere in the vicinity of "way too early" and he'll just show up later in the day anyway. X'3; Also for Ez the start DAY is Sunday, September 25. Silly Aussie we love you<3. X3)
\o/ This said I realize of course some people DON'T WANT to play trivia and this is cool. That said, (assuming any of you/them are reading this out of boredom/curiosity/whatever), even if you don't answer many if any questions, it's still pretty fun just to hang out and join the inevitable tangent chatter that arises from every other answer. X3 Also, occasionally SG has started throwing in POINTS FOR ERRYONE things in which you don't even need to be present to get points. Just showing up at trying, even for just like 20 minutes or something, gets you a chance at some points that way.
X3 We seem to revolve heavily around cartoon themes in general, mostly Disney/etc, 90's/early-00's cartoons, and anime/manga, along with the obvious Pokemon factor, but we do TRY to spread around to other more diverse categories too. One this last time was random lower-school knowledge, for instance. We had two math-ish questions, two science, two history, two grammar, a Phys. Ed., and even a spelling question. x3 Another was animals (where we learned that the only animal that can see in both infrared and ultraviolet light is the common household GOLDFISH, and Jay had a near seizure trying to figure out what evolutionary purpose that could possibly serve. X'3) Oh, also we had VC trivia, and we need to do that more. x3
I'm thinking next time (write this down, contestants! XP) SG will ask a video game round- maybe a few, divided into Nintendo, Sony, and/or classic arcade games... X3 OH also mythology. I meant to do that last time and forgot. Just lots of diverse mythology.
ON THAT NOTE, I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS \o/ I told you guys SG largely BSes and looks up shit as she goes along, so if you think of any categories in the next two weeks that you'd like to see asked, just tell me and I may actually prepare somewhat. X3 If any newcomers who have been hesitant to join can think of a category they think they'd do well in, I can even specifically wait to ask it until they show up~ :3 I mean, I'm not going to do a category on quantum physics, the history of your specific hometown, or the delicate art of fine cheeses (read: anything too hard or overly-specialized for the normal person to even know where to start looking), but I could totally do art, marine biology, Lord of the Rings, etc.
Because I'm lazy I'm gonna quote the rules from the previous thread. x3

Any Staff is eligible to ask questions, though none are required. To help balance for those who ask a lot more questions than they answer, every set of five good questions will earn the asker 1 Point. 'Good' questions are those which are neither too hard nor too easy and which people have fair odds of knowing or figuring out without too much aid. Riddles and trivia, not "guess what I'm thinking" or "What is SG's favorite type of cake?" (The latter two are totally valid, of course, and can be fun on occasion, but won't earn the askers any points. (Unless, of course, SG's favorite cake (to use the example) has been stated about six billion times before on VC and should be standard site trivia by now, in which case it will be.) Hopefully this will help keep the more random questions in check this time.)
As before, correct answers will earn players 1 Point for a character of choice.
Characters will be decided before each round, and cannot be changed except between rounds or when a specific character has hit his or her current Token cap (as we won't force you to earn more points than you'd use).
Token cap will start at 5. Once all OR at least five of your characters, whichever number is smaller, have reached this cap, it will be upped for all characters to 10. If you can hit this on all/at least five characters, you can up the cap to 15 on two characters. The others will remain capped at 10. Choose wisely.
If you have more than five characters total, once you've started earning Tokens on a character, he or she must reach at least 5 in order to raise your cap, whever you are. In other words, if you've used six characters and finally earn five on five, you still have to get five on the sixth before you can start earning ten. If you HAVE six character but have only used five so far, you're good to go. If you hit five with five and raise it to ten, and THEN start using a sixth character, you're still good. You'll just have to get that sixth character up to five before you can raise your cap again to the limited fifteen. ('x3; Does this make sense to anyone?)
WIP characters and NPCs are optional to use. You can, but if you do, they count in your character requirements. Of course, if you're like SG and have, say, seven characters, you already need at least five. So whether you use five finished chars or three chars and two WIPs, the result is the same. (Using more than five total is discussed above.) If, however, you're like Tere, with two finished chars, your requirements to raise your cap are much lower. Bringing a WIP into the equation raises that, as now you have three rather than just two chars that must reach a certain number of points. Bring in two WIPs? Now you've got four. (x3 Of course, this is STILL lower than normal but you get the idea. xP)
Points are worth 1 Token or $200. While Tokens are capped, money is not. If you get 50 points on one character (you're a trivia god or we played for like 18 solid hours, but aside from that x'3), you can only get 15 Tokens top, assuming you raised your cap to that. However, your remaining 35 points will be converted into $7000. Or you could opt to convert all the points to money and get $10,000. Or split it up and take 7 tokens and $8600, or whatever.
