It was a terrible idea, he thought to himself. It was a terrible idea, but I went with it anyway. I.. still don't understand why.
Swoosh phtank. Swoosh, phtank. Swoosh, phtank. Such interesting onomatopoeia could only be expressed in a place such as the Deadman's Dunes. It was a regular day - dead sands, quicksand everywhere, Pokemon wandering about. There was an.. interesting new addition, however.
Swoosh, phtank. Swoosh, phtank. Noise after noise. A dune beetle wanders around the sands, and suddenly finds his regular bug sensibilities startled by a trio of fifty-foot whales jumping and swaying through the heavy layers of quicksand. "I think I'm starting to regret this.." Garci held on tightly to something as he felt firm, incessant undulations, and that nauseating noise. Swoosh, phtank.
He wasn't sure how he managed to put her up to it. At least, more appropriately, them. She was so insistent that he didn't have the ability to do that, and that she didn't even deserve to be exploited. However, Lexus tends to win whenever she persuades people. "It's not like we could get saddles or anything. I mean, she's massive." His voice was a meek little cry in front of the great splashes of grand bodies against the sands.
"But you're having fun, aren't you?" "I guess.." Pan out to the whole of the desert again. If you look around for only a second, something seems so easily recognizable. Say, the trio of brown whales, so close together they almost seem attached, literally swimming through the sand. At this point, Garci managed to make a decent foothold. He was starting to get used to this, and he never even surfed before.
Sandals planted firmly on one of her, Garci held his suitcase clumsily. It was hard to stay stable when they were moving so quickly. Lexus managed to just hang on by placing her hands over one of her blowholes. She said she didn't mind, so why not enjoy the ride with him? Besides, the boy looked pretty pent up. After having mourned at the tower, he soon realized that war was going to encroach sometime. Maybe this movement through the desert would be the only safe way from one place to another.
Kalypso dove, wound, and swam through the sands. She didn't like doing it, but what choice did she have? Shamefully, she believed that it would be the only way she could possibly be useful. Poor girl(s?) may never get past her (their?) downtrodden nature. "You're doing fine, dears. Look at you go!" Lexus offered more encouraging words to the Duglord, yet she still seemed pretty disillusioned.
If you hadn't already gotten the impression of what's going on, here it is: Young man and giant mother earwig ride on even bigger whale trio. He surfs, except it's not really surfing. Especially considering they're in the desert, and all. "It was a terrible idea, but I went with it anyway. I guess I'm enjoying myself," Garci stated sheepishly.

However, Nero Ishi had found herself on one end of it and in need of getting to the other. Thus, she had begun to think over how to actually cross. She would have traveled on foot had not the 'seas' for whatever reason, look more restless than usual. The sand whipped and licked viciously before turning and smashing against itself as though some great disturbance had been caused in the force. If she were shorter and lighter, she could probably have flown over on her Xatu... but she didn't know him well enough not to drop her and didn't know how much of a burden her weight would be on him. She could ask one of her psychics to teleport her, but it was a far reach, and stopping anywhere in that mess could be deadly.
The only plan that seemed at least somewhat plausible and sane without any sort of repercussions was finally what she invested in. Thus, the dark haired woman had pulled out a pokeball, released her homosexual Steelix, explained that she wanted him to 'swim' through the sea, got on, and started forwards. For all the sand was and for the fact that he hated normal water and swimming with a passion, it was oddly easily for Semeil, the Steelix in question, to navigate through the sand. It also helped that he kept his massive head above the sand so that he could see where he was going, of course.
As they came farther and farther out into the sand, the waves grew tremendous and more and more like actual water, shaking and crashing in a violent fever. Nero nearly got blown off the back of her Steelix and ended up having to seize his head 'horns' for support as they continued. It was only after this that, in the distance, Nero Ishi began to catch sight of some sort of massive moving creature on the sand. What... in the world. [/scrolly] |

Cricket was on her merry way to the grocery store to pick up some cabbage - or maybe an eggplant? Somehow her trip took her through the desert. Perhaps she had been on the other side of it, and because she couldn't teleport just decided to walk. At any rate, she was walking all by herself, all of her Pokemon in their balls to save them from the extreme, searing heat. Cricket herself seemed to be fine with it, though the glare from the sun was hurting her eyes a bit.
As she walked, shielding her eyes with her right arm as she went, the sands began to churn more and more. Again, the hardy lady didn't seem to mind nor care, though she did squint more as sand began to make its way into her face. Suddenly, a hole seemed to open beneath her and she fell onto her ass and slid down into a pit. It had perhaps been a Trapinch's home, but now it was empty save for one confused Cricket. She stood up and stared up into the sand-filled sky with disbelief. How the fuck was she supposed to get out? The walls were too steep and if she got too high up the churning sands would throw her back down or hurt her again.

The instability of the sands continued on as the trio of whales proceeded. Today, Garci donned a pair of fancy-looking Go-Goggles imported straight from Hoenn, the sand's grating persistence no longer having any effect on him. Plus, its dull blue band and gray rims complimented his vest so well. He adjusted his goggles slightly, as he looked to the sands. "Does the desert normally shift like that?" "I am certain that it's just us, Garci. Kalypso can make quite a splash in the sands. Luckily, I don't think anyone else is around, so I'm sure it's safe." "It is the middle of the desert.." Garci mused. Of course, this belief quickly faded when he saw a lone figure carrying on through the sands. "Wait, I think I see someone! What are they doing out in the quicksand?"
Surely enough, the figure fell deep into the sand. "Oh Arceus, they fell," Lexus worriedly alerted to the rest. "I guess I could.. how do I even steer her?" <Kalypso, can you get to that hole over there?> It was tiny enough on its own from the tops of whales, but they were just barely able to make it out. <I-I don't know, I-I'm just not good at steering at all.> The timid giants replied, as they made a feeble effort to steer themselves toward the small hole. Slowly they made their way to the pit.
Suddenly (through Cricket's perspective at least), the heads of three massive whales loomed over the hole and engulfed the sun! "Alright, alright, let's hurry down. We can't spend too long here." Garci slid carefully off of the middle Duglord's body, almost slipping up and falling right down into the ground. Luckily, he managed to grab a fin, fearfully holding on for dear life. His Volcarona floated down carefully and held Garci in her stubby 'arms.' "I have you, dear." She announced proudly, as she fluttered near the hole slowly.
Dropping Garci gently, Lexus was both shocked and amused by what she saw. "Oh, Garci. I think an old friend of yours seems to have found herself trapped." Garci got up to his feet excitedly, running toward the hole. "Who, S-" Hands on the edge of the hole, his eyes widened by what he saw. 'Oh, great. Her again.' He stared down at his probably one-sided rival, and waved to her slowly and reluctantly. "Er.. hello, again, Cricket. Fancy meeting you here."

It's a giant---" Semeil cut himself off given that not even he was bad enough to make that reference... especially considering he was also a long all but cylindrical formed pokemon. Nero simply continued to stare off towards the moving creature and didn't even realize that her pokemon had stopped for a few seconds. "I think it changed direction..." the Steelix continued as though picking up a different topic that Nero would actually answer to.
"Sem... let's go see what that is..." was all Nero finally said, and though he hesitated for only a second (what of course Semeil the large, great, amazing, spectacular Steelix was not afraid), Semeil quickly recovered and started off towards the Duglord with a sudden rapid pace that nearly threw Nero straight off his back.
"Oh sorry dear~" Semeil called looking upwards and back to make sure that Nero was still on before speeding on again. However, only about one hundred yards away from the Duglord, Semeil suddenly broke off his charge which caused Nero in turn to cling to the rock pokemon trying to keep herself from falling off. Readjusting her stance, Nero found herself simply staring at the Duglord rather than...er... the hole right in front of herself.
".......What...." was all Nero mumbled as she continued to stare at the creature there. [/scrolly] |

Cricket stared at the walls of her sandy prison, trying to think of a way out, when a Volcarona showed up at the top. The shadow made her look up, and there she saw Garci, and behind him.. wait what was that? She was met with the sight of.. what the fuck even WAS that thing? It looked like.. three Wailords? With little red noses? What?
"Oh, it's you. It's been a long time." Cricket spoke in a quiet, nearly sarcastic voice. It really hadn't been a long time, but perhaps she had wished it was. This little stuck-up kid was ridiculous, she wasn't sure whether to be grateful or to just dig the hole deeper and stay there rather than ask for help. At any rate, she stood staring up at Garci defiantly, as if to act like she didn't need help at all.
"What even is that thing?" she asked. "It's cool, but what is it?" Indeed, it was quite the anomaly, this trio of brown Wailords with noses. The three of them were pretty interesting to look at.

Garci sneered down at his archrival, hands on his hips. "It has, hasn't it?" He figured that, while he was there, he could probably milk this as much as he could. "What in the world could possibly have compelled you to come to the desert? Furthermore, how could you possibly have fumbled all the way into a dune? I thought you of all people would be aware of the deserts' dangers." Making a rather smug shrug with his hands out at his sides, he shook his head and flashed a thin grin.
Lexus poked Garci firmly in the back. His only reaction is to turn around and prepare to open his mouth to reprimand her, until.. "Garci, you know it's rude to act that way to friends." Lexus interrupted him with a gentle motion, and he grumbled. "Anyway.." The Volcarona descended to the bottom slowly, and looked Cricket in the eyes. "It really has been some time though, I will have to agree." Nodding, she offered her feelers to the woman. "Here, take one of my legs. I'll bring you up." Who was to deny a fuzzy, giant, fiery earwig like this?
"If you must know, these Wailords are a new breed. I call them Duglord - a breed that has combined the formidable size and sea mastery of a Wailord and the multiplicity and the ground navigation of Dugtrio. I suppose they cannot be perfect, however - this Duglord in particular has quite a few self-esteem issues." The Duglord in question remained mostly silent, if not releasing a few sobs here and there. By a few 'sobs,' of course, the sobs sound more like loud, echoed moans. "Poor girl is depressed," Lexus affirms.
"Yes, well.. If Lexus hadn't already offered you a ride up, I would have. Now, if you would like to know, these magnificent Pokemon provide an excellent means of transport. I suppose you might want to try one for yourself." He gestured to the massive leviathan(s), letting out a sharp whistle. Adjusting the lapels of his dress shirt, he watched as the whales moved carefully. To farther away Nero's perspective, they would see the three brown, massive shapes bending downward.
"Come on, then. We do not have all day, and there is so much desert to cover." He made quite the precarious climb as he went atop Kalypso's middle head, using her nose as a small support. "You may want to hold onto your things. Whalesurfing can be dangerous," he paused for a moment, before going on to explain, "Quite a few undulations. I cannot say I am fully capable of tolerating it myself." Lexus followed slowly, moving to Garci's side.

Instead, more of an awe of sorts had come over her expression. "Hot damn!" Semeil finally called out causing Nero to jump before looking down at her Steelix ride. Had the beast thing heard it? Nero found herself squinting to try and discern some sort of expression that gave any notion of such. "She looks sad! DEAR! What ails you!" Semeil called suddenly scooting faster through the sand again right up to the Duglord. "Oh honey you can tell me! I know you just met and all but what's wrong sweet thing? You can tell momma Seme~" Semeil asked in a worried concerned voice.
Nero sweat dropped greatly at her Steelix's motions, but something else had caught her eye at that moment causing her entire form to go on edge. There was a person on that massive creature. Standing tall, Nero stared at Garci only to follow his train of vision, more or less, and stared down towards the hole there only to see another person.... What... exactly had she just come upon? Nero wasn't sure, and in all honesty. she was debating whether or not to just try and get Semeil to leave quickly or stay. Given the Steelix appeared to be talking to the massive pokemon there, the first seemed unlikely to ensue even if Nero ordered it. Semeil was not the standard breed of pokemon, in all regards. The girl clung to the earwig, gratefully accepting rescue. As if she had a choice. Although.. Lexus had never wronged Cricket in any way, and in fact was much friendlier towards her than the little shit who trained her was..
She let go of Lexus as the bug hovered over the head of one of the giant brown whales, landing on her rear atop the creature's head. It probably didn't notice her presence, and if it did, it would register her as a minor itch or some other tiny issue.
Cricket listened to what Garci had to say about this enormous Pokemon with great interest, tilting her head as she did so.
"Aw, the poor thing.." Cricket frowned and crouched down on top of the Duglord she was currently on top of, stroking the slightly fuzzy brown surface of its skin gently. "What's wrong, sweetheart?" she asked, hoping the huge creature would hear her small voice.
At his suggestion to hold onto her things, Cricket shrugged, tightening the strap of her backpack and adjusting it to fit more snugly. "I'm good. Let's go, I guess." She didn't really know where they would be going, but if they ran into anything dangerous, she could always trip or outrun Garci..

Thus, the whale troop was off on the move again. Garci planted his feet firmly onto Kalypso's second back, and gripped onto the suitcase. An intense expression crept onto his face, carefully placing the Go-Goggles back over his eyes. Kalypso's response to Cricket was generally minimal. She uttered a whine at her and continued forward. She took no pride in her work, and she doesn't seem to come off as the conversationalist type.
Garci lurched forward in trepidation, trying to steel himself. "Here comes the worst part of the ride.." To suspend disbelief in this sense would be an entirely rational idea, the Duglord trio starting with a Dig. It was just the way she did things, in order to get herself (selves?) motivated. Springing up into the air, she started into the sands, sinking a good 10 or so meters into the sands.
Garci was immediately buffeted with tiny yellow grainy things, and with such a great amount of them, he felt pressure surround his body and attempted from falling backward. It didn't work. "Aaahk!" Instead, he fell onto his back and hurriedly struggled to get back up before she started to rise out of the desert 'ocean.' Garci was carefully getting up on his feet, while the whales snaked on forward. "Are you well, Cricket?" A little bit odd, addressing his mortal enemy's well-being at all, but even he could admit that this newfangled new 'sport' he devised was a little bit dangerous.
Lexus had a bit better luck when it came down to things. After all, she has wings for a reason. The Volcarona knowingly moved in advance to where the Dugtrio would ascend, and fit snugly on Kalypso's middle head with Garci as they rose. While the whales were moving up, Garci yelled to Cricket. "Quickly, before she gets all the way up! Run up to her face and grab her by the nose!" Making a mad dash up to the front of her head, he grabbed the middle creature's red nose with one of his hands, carefully moving the hand with the briefcase to grab it for more support. He turned his head to face her yet again. "Make sure not to grasp TOO HARD, Cricket! She will sneeze!" Experience has allowed him to realize that having a whalemole's snot all of your hands is not good.
For a moment, Garci realized how unnecessarily action-filled his life has become. First, that dramatic encounter against his Oceanus, the venture through the Clock Tower, and now he's surfing on the heads/shoulders/whatevers of giants. This convenient moment of rumination distracted him enough that he lost grip on Kalypso's nose. Bad moment to do so, too, as the whales were now pointing vertically upward, preparing to majestically lash their tails downward and begin to swim along the sand. "Jesus chr-" The breath was taken away from him as he started to fall, and from quite a height. A good 20 or so feet of falling welcomed him into an 'ocean' that was either solid or cushioned quicksand. Yet, even with his falling, he held onto his suitcase for dear life, holding it to his chest. This may not be a good idea, all things considered, what with the increase in mass times gravity equaling downward potential energy and blah blah blah.
Lexus, the caretaker that she is, immediately noticed this. "Not again!" Filled with concern, she swooped down to him as he fell. She didn't have quite a great amount of time to save him. I beg you suspend your disbelief again, as the earwig caught the boy with four of her legs, just before he was going to fall feet-first into an uncertain fate. "For the love of Arceus, Garci." He tilted his head back and sighed. "Yes, let us just keep going on with this. Do you wish to rub it in further now that we're even?" He crossed his arms over the suitcase and huffed. The earwig only snickered mischievously in return. By now her Solar Beam was only a faint black mark on the boy's arm, but it still endangered him.
"Don't worry, dear. I'm satisfied now." The Volcarona quickly placed her charge back on their ride, and clung onto the molewhale's back next to him. Kalypso continued on her (their?) pace as she (they?) stabilized and swum again. Garci dusted the sand off of his clothing, and regained his fairly regular, cold-looking composure. "Right.. I believe things will smooth out from here. Hm, do you see those figures?" He pointed in the direction of the faraway Semeil, and carefully turned his foot to follow that direction, stomping it down twice. "Oi, oi!" Calling to the whales, almost steering them, they turned to face the distant creature.
..Nero probably saw this whole display. Albeit, in slightly more shocking news, the whales seemed to be.. heading straight forward for the woman and her Steelix.
And it was good.
And loaded with unnecessary amounts of action.

What in the world was that, exactly? Did she even want to know, even? The young cross-dresser probably would have done better to will her Steelix to turn and head onward through the sand considering she had work that she could be doing at the moment rather than stopping to gawk at ... whatever in the world that was. As the act of sorts went on, solid black pupils shrank. Was that thing... coming right at them?
Semeil, meanwhile, had been doing his best to call out to the Duglord, but it seemed she was still too far away to hear any of his calls... as if that was ever one to stop him anyways. However, as the large creature changed directions and seemed to be heading straight at them, the Steelix slid backwards a tad started. "Uhhhh, honey please don't run me over. I just got these old rocks polished!" he called in a slightly desperate attempt to detour the large creature. However, his voice was much quieter than his previous shouts, and it was probable that as such, the large beast hadn't heard him at all.
"Sem, move," Nero snapped after a moment as she looked downwards at the Steelix who, though hesitated a moment, quickly made a motion to get out of the way of the large creature(s?) least both of them be squashed in the process of what appeared to both of them as a charge straight for them. As Semeil managed to get out of the main way of the Duglord (unless the rider who was slowly coming into view decided to change direction for some sole purpose of running them over), Nero's legs tensed allowing her entire form to move with Semeil.

Cricket saw nothing of the other person and her Pokemon, concentrating on Kalypso instead. She heard Garci inquire as to whether she was doing alright or not, and though she had her eyes squeezed firmly shut against the sand flying about, she yelled back, "I'm good!" Even if she hadn't been, the answer would have remained the same.
"WHAT?" Cricket couldn't hear her adversary's second remark, and so she opened her eyes a crack to see him. She saw him run to the nose of his whale and quickly realized that she must do the same. She nearly dropped her bag in the process, but Cricket managed to rush to the whale's nose and grasp it firmly while also retaining her backpack. She opened her eyes a bit again, only to see Garci falling off of his whale. As she was about to do something stupid, like leap after him or something to that useless effect, she saw Lexus fly down and catch him.
Good Arceus, that was close.. wait.. why am I so relieved..? I don't even like the kid.. There was no more time for thinking as the whales began to move yet again, and Cricket clung for dear life to the nose of the one she had been dropped upon.
Again, Garci spoke, and Cricket forced herself to look out at the sands again. There was hardly any sand in the air, and the whales were moving in a much more smooth manner. She slowly let go of the nose she was gripping tightly and moved back towards the top of Kalypso's head.
"That was fucking terrifying." she said, but she was smiling.

Garci shook his head and remained in composure. "It was.. nothing." His voice faltered slightly. Clearly, this was quite something. I mean, this is what, the second time he fell into severe danger? Terrifying? He was certain she was probably referring to her own outing. She probably didn't even see him plummet off of Kalypso and nearly fall to his death, the snarky littl- oh right, surfing.
Lexus's head turned to face Cricket. "It's odd, you know? Garci has recently been surrounded by dangerous experiences. In Sol Beach.." Garci stopped her there, of course. "..nothing happened. Nothing happened in Sol Beach." He may have been okay with her mentioning Oceanus, but he'd rather not have his Volcarona have to recall again what she did. Sure, the wound was only a mark now, but he felt now that her disposition might falter if she remembered that she was the one that launched the unfortunately misfired Solar Beam. "Garci, I was just-" "Please, don't worry about it." It was odd. It was almost like he was considering the feelings of his Pokemon. Huh.
And still the trio of whales continued toward their destination. Kalypso followed instructions well, of course, while feeling bound and gagged to do so. She saw the figure moving, and was heading straight for them. Yep. To them, it would probably seem like the whales were on a collision course to crush them and continue on. Man, doesn't that suck. "Hey, it's trying to get away! Go, go!" Garci tapped the toe of his shoe on Kalypso's back, as she hurried forward. It was a little more than odd, how a giant whale - no, three whales that may or may not be connected together, could feel such tiny people on her (their?) back(s?) and still respond sensitively.
The whales sped up on their course. They were approaching their target at an alarming rate. "Kalypso! Stop when you reach whatever those things are!" <W-W-w-what?> She silently muttered back. Now, in whale terms, this was nothing short of a murmur. In normal people and regular-sized Pokemon terms, this was an echoing rumble of inquisition. <Kalypso, dear, he's asking if you could stop when you get to those figures in the distance there.> <A... ah, okay.> Her thundering whimper implied a positive response. "Did she get me?" Garci maintained his balance and looked down at Lexus. "Yes, yes. I believe she understands."
Their final moments were approaching them. The poor Steelix and his Trainer would likely get mowed down. No other witnesses. No evidence. All of them, lost in the sands. Well, maybe. People and Pokemon have probably gotten over worse. This is obviously an exaggeration, and the poor Steelix and his Trainer would probably have turned out fine. If the collision happened. Which it didn't. See, Kalypso made a dead stop, almost a screeching halt. Her central body stopped just short of the Trainer and her silly companion. It was literally such that if Nero were to reach her hand forward enough, she could touch the rough surface of one of Kalypso's mouths.. belly.. things.
Garci poked his head out, and cast a small shadow above the whale. "Lexus, take me down if you could." She obliged, and took him by four of her legs, carefully and daintily descending. "Okay, the ground is.. solid. This is good, Lexus." He mulled over things for a moment and decided, "..I suppose you can take Cricket down. If she really wants to. Bet she doesn't." He does love saving his informal speech for his archrivals. They deserve what they're worth. Yep. Lots of hate.
The boy addressed the two. "Er-herm. Hello, there." He adjusted his vest and his goggles, sliding them up to his forehead. He was certain that the two would think that this encounter was entirely normal, and therefore adjusted himself accordingly, conducting himself with that same gentle, formal behavior. Lexus, meanwhile, was hovering up to where Cricket was, offering her legs to her. "If you wish to come and see whoever may be down there, dear, I am here."

Nero's eyes narrowed, and her body tensed considerably. Semeil's eyes grew large, and the Steelix himself was backing up considerably in the sand but not nearly as fast as was needed to not run into the giant sand whale. "Sem," Nero had snapped out words but not orders, and thus the Steelix only seemed to remain frozen there. However, at the last moment, the Duglord came to a sudden halt right in front of the cross dresser and her pokemon.
Brown eyes stared motionless at the large form, and for a brief moment, Nero Ishi stood there un-moving. However, after this initial shock was over, she breathed outwards and slowly looked upwards taking in the full scale of the beast up close now. "Sweet mother of Arceus, what the bloody hell," Semeil swore deep in his own throat. Here he had been calling out to the dear and asking what was wrong, and then in another moment, he had been charged and nearly run over. What in the world?! Nero didn't speak but continued to scale her eyes upwards up until she found the top. A mental number on height came to mind, but she didn't speak this.
In another moment, Nero found herself watching as what appeared to be a man was coming down from the whale's form. As Garci landed on the sand, Nero's head had turned downwards and was now directed towards the ground and the man on it. She made no motion to jump from Semeil's head rock that she had been riding and instead stared silently at Garci. As the young man began to address her, Nero closed her eyes and mentally cooled. So there was a human cause for such a ... pokemon and predicament. However, that didn't help the fact that they had just been charged. "Were you planning to run us over?" was the more than cold wording that came back.
