Sadness Strikes Again (Jay/Elayne/Kero)

He lived with his family in a castle that got burnt down. He lived through it, but was kidnapped by one of the people who must have helped done it. If this isn't bad enough, he finally got saved just to get taken off to the North because it wasn't safe for him to stay there. He was forced to wear contacts so he didn't look exactly the same as he did, and had to live there for a long time. When he finally did get to go back to the castle, he was met with the realization that most of his family members had died, gone missing, or just weren't there. Still don't think it's bad enough? He decided one day that he would go to the stores in the capital, but he was met with the bombings. He managed to be on the outside of the bombings, but they hit and caused his arm to completely blow off. He was then rushed to a hospital, though he couldn't remember much after that. Did the poor boy deserve this much? He was luckily saved after he was exploded though. Somebody Ferd had never even met before had managed to come along and save him from the severe wounds that were going to kill him. Because he had been taken to the emergency room, his life was actually saved. He was out for weeks after this, When he finally came back to his senses, he was in a random bed in a room he hadn't ever seen before, looking around rather slowly, he took in the room. He finally realized that it was a hospital after a few moments. He slowly looked down at himself to see that he was wrapped up in a blanket extremely tight, and he could hardly even see if something was wrong with his body. He could see the bandages going up his shoulder, and tried to lift up his arm. Strange.. it wouldn't move. He moved his other arm to lift up the blanket and stared at the missing limb as the pain finally revealed itself. He was instantly brought to tears from the pain, since he knew it was now gone, and the shock that he was missing an arm. He couldn't even find his voice as he felt like he was dead. He noticed something to his side though.. THE NURSE BUTTON! He instantly retch over with his good arm and tried to hit the button just to see it fall to the floor. He was about to scream out for a nurse, but he noticed a familiar face sitting in the room. Was that.. Felis? He couldn't even find his voice to say anything. [/scrolly]

He had been rushing around for the past few weeks going through the wreckage and helping people that had been affected by the bombings, but what killed him... not physically but mentally just killed him was learning that Ferd had been in the explosion. The boy should have been at home. He should have been at home, possibly in bed, but at least at home. Felis hadn't even realized he had been out of the castle until he came home and started looking around for the reclusive boy. When he couldn't find him, a panic had instilled in Felis, and he had begun a search for him.... only to then find Ferd already in the hospital. Upon learning that the boy had suffered massive injuries and what had been left of his arm had been amputated (where as the majority of it had been blown clear off in the explosion) and was now in a coma, Felis quite literally cried. The doctors couldn't determine when Ferd would wake up, and in the end, they simply stated that he would come when he would, as if this were any great and deep answer. Felis, meanwhile, simply ended up adding another place to his circle of running around through the weeks. That particular day, Felis had come into the hospital and simply slunk down in a chair by Ferd's bed exhausted from everything that had gone on. He doubted this would be the day his little brother woke up, but Felis was there none the less. He had to keep this up.. had to prove that he was sure Ferd would wake up again to everyone. Thus, he was there. As Ferd began to wake up, the quiet sounds of Felis's breathing signaled that he was actually asleep at the moment. It seemed that his body had crashed again from exhaustion, but the sounds of motion from the bed was actually enough to drag him out of his slumber. Opening his eyes, Felis blinked and stood up shakily. "I'm awake," he mumbled looking around before suddenly catching sight of Ferd... He was... he was awake? "Little brother..." Felis started rather quietly hesitating for a brief moment before quickly walking over to him. "Little brother, you're awake!" he beamed too excited and exasperated for reason. [/scrolly]

Tears were streaming down Ferd's face as he laid there. "F-f... Felis.. what... hap....n...ed.." Ferd starts to say, but finds his voice going as he tried to speak. He probably shouldn't have been trying to get up already, but he was. He had to give his brother a hug! He didn't even manage to sit up all the way and was in so much pain that he had to lay back down. His arm.. was gone! He couldn't move anything over there. What was going on. This had to be a dream. He felt so much pain though.. it couldn't be. Ferd gulped and darted his eyes down where the button fell, hoping Felis would get it. He really didn't want to speak too much right now, because the pain was too much. Ferd had never wanted to get up so bad in his life. He usually sat around at the castle and didn't do much because he didn't have to, but now he couldn't do anything, but he wanted to. His blue eyes were showing right now, since it probably wasn't good to leave the contacts in all that time. His big blue eyes stared at Felis once again. It seemed like he hadn't seen him in so long.. Ferd wanted to ask Felis so much, but he was unable to do much now, and found himself just trying to relax in the bed, but he was still freaking out about his arm. [/scrolly]

Of course the worry wasn't helping much either ... it had been weeks since Ferd was first admitted and truth be told, Elayne was losing hope that he would ever wake up but for Felis' sake Elayne didn't dare voice this. Elayne had finished eating her own food in the cafeteria and was just carrying Felis something to eat and had just reached the doorway when she heard a familiar voice and nearly dropped the tray and its contents on the floor. That ... that couldn't be .... Ferd was awake ... but he and then and ... Elayne's eyes grew wide when she saw that Ferd was indeed awake and quickly set the tray down on a nearby table, rushing to Ferd's side to embrace him. "Ferd! ... you were ... and then ... and I- ... ,"Elayne began as she tried to explain how worried she was and everything that had happened but failed miserably. Smiling sheepishly, Elayne took a deep breath and tried again, slower this time,"I'm so glad you're all right .... . You had us worried ... , all of us ... ,"she replied quietly before tears filled her eyes, not tears of pain but those of joy and relief.[/scrolly]

He was alright. He was alright. Ferd, his little brother, was alright. For all it was and for all it would be, Felis sniffled slightly and managed a smile before breaking into a full on sob. As Ferd made to sit up, Felis stepped closer still and ended up hugging him sideways and just leaning incredibly awkwardly on him. "FERD...little brother... I was so scared...." was all Felis managed to squeak out an octave higher than his normal voice. Tears leaked down Felis's cheeks, but as his eyes caught Ferd's darting ones, they shifted and looked towards the Nurse button. Slowly releasing Ferd, Felis wiped a few tears from his cheek and nodded before slowly bending down and picking up the button returning it to where it was supposed to be again. He would have started to explain what had happened, or at least tried to, yet Elayne had suddenly rushed inwards and hugged Ferd also... which only caused more tears to spring from Felis, and he had to brush several away and gulp to try and get over the rush of emotion. "You had us worried..." he repeated after Elayne had spoken. "There had been bombings at the capital and.... and I didn't even know you were out at that hour and ... and ...." Felis broke down again and simply fell silent. There was too much to say, and yet his lips wouldn't formulate the words. [/scrolly]

He laid back down and was waiting for Felis to tell him what had gone on, but he was suddenly hugged once again by Elayne. He didn't really know her extremely well, but he still knew her. He hugged her back the best he could and tried not to cringe over his arm. He was still crying tears of happiness, sadness, and pain. Once he was let go again, he laid down and tried to rest his arm. He listened to Felis try to explain the situation.. but he really didn't seem to explain anything right. Ferd gulped and tried to ignore his arm that he just wanted to stare at right now. It hurt so much.. Why didn't they have him on something to make it not hurt at all? Maybe they did, but it was such a bad wound that you would feel it anyways. "El...ayne..." Ferd manages to say. He was in so much pain, speaking wasn't really gonna work very well. He decided that he should just rest and wait until the pain was gone so he could actually speak right. Ugh.. why did his life have to be so bad? He'd just have to listen to them for now. [/scrolly]

When she heard Ferd say her name, Elayne immediately turned her attention back to him and walked over to him, putting a gentle hand on his shoulder,"Yes Ferd?" she asked, eyes alight with hope ... Ferd would be all right ... now that he was awake, everything would be just fine right ... right. Seeing the pain in Ferd's eyes was too much for Elayne and after a while she looked back up at Felis,"I'll go get a nurse ... ,"she said quietly before gesturing to the food on the table, forgotten since Ferd had woken up,"You should eat something Felis .... ." This said, Elayne walked out of the room in search of a nurse, hoping to do something ... anything she could to ease the pain she saw in Ferd's eyes.[/scrolly]

After a few seconds, he looked back at Ferdinando and sighed quietly. "Thank God you're alright....." he mumbled quietly before shaking his head and looking away. One arm raised and wrapped itself on the other. "I...what was left of your arm had to be amputated because of infection a- among other things the doctors explained but I don't...really know......." he sighed quietly before looking back at Ferd. "Are you hungry or is there anything I could get you or...?' he asked before falling silent again. Meanwhile, a nurse was walking down the hallway reading a chart and mentally sighing at the thoughts that had been swarming her mind in the late weeks. Most of the patients that she had been charged with had thankfully checked out alright. However, there were those that hadn't been able to leave for varying reasons. [/scrolly]

He hoped it would be a sign that he was agreeing that he'd be okay. He watched her leave to go get a nurse and continued to just lay there, though his arm still sent so much pain through him. He looked at Felis as he talked about his arm having to be amputated because of disease and things. Ferd found his voice returning a bit more now, though it was pretty low and shaky. "Will... I... g....t..... n.. ..arm ...... a...gain....?" Ferd says rather slowly, trying to find his voice again. Since he had so many things going through his body and had just recently woke up from weeks of being out, it was no wonder he wasn't completely back to his normal self. Ferd listened to him but slowly shook his head no. He wasn't really hungry yet, but he was sure that he would be soon enough. His eyes were still halfway closed from the sleepiness and pain that he was experienced, and he felt like he was just being tortured here. His eyes were completely focused on his brother, barely looking at anything else. Ferd let out a scratchy yawn and began to look at his arm again. Why.. did he have to lose it like this? He didn't deserve this... Right now, all he wanted was to get his arm or a replacement arm back on there as soon as he possibly could. [/scrolly]

Sighing with relief, Elayne walked up to the nurse and put a gentle hand on her shoulder so as to get the nurse's attention and hopefully not scare her. "Excuse me miss ... my cousin ... he's awake. Please, could you come?"Elayne asked in a quiet, emotion-filled voice, gesturing to the room she had just left,"I can tell he's in pain and I- ... ,"Elayne continued before tears choked her words off.[/scrolly]

He wanted so much to quickly say that everything would be ok and that he would seek out the best prosthetic arm, yet at the same time, he wasn't sure where to begin... who to look for, and the like. After a few seconds, he simply slowly nodded. "We're going to get you a prosthetic at least," he answered back managing a weak smile. He didn't know what else to tell him, really, and this actually ached Felis more. "And we're going to figure out who did this and make... make them pay for it," he finally choked out more as a quick last-minute thought rather than anything else. The nurse in question... was actually Miranda? Well now. Upon recognizing Elayne from weeks prior, the young woman stared at the girl for a brief moment realizing what was being said and nodded her head rather quickly. "Yes, of course, lead the way," she answered back holding her charts and things now at her sides. As Elayne started to lead, Miranda simply followed. [/scrolly]

If Felis didn't know anyone who could do it, then it was hard to tell how long he would go without one. He might not even be able to get one! He continued to wait until he was finally told that they would get one, but he still felt that the answer was vague. He started to frown a bit more, and as much as he didn't want to hurt Felis, he couldn't help but feel bad and utter out a "Promise?" He then heard Felis's last comment that actually brought him a bit more of ease. Felis.. was going to find out who did it. This actually brought Felis back to the same level as sadness where he started from, though this was much better than where he could have been headed towards. He let out a little sigh and just tried to relax once again. Ugh.. he wanted the pain gone so bad. He couldn't help but still have tears going from the pain. [/scrolly]

Leading the way to Ferd's room, Elayne didn't say anything until she had entered the room again just in time to hear Ferd speak again. Confused as to what he could be asking Felis about, Elayne didn't say anything but instead stepped aside so that the nurse could do her job. Noticing the untouched food still on the table, Elayne looked at Felis but decided to not mention it knowing all too well that food wasn't near as important as Ferd to Felis at that point.[/scrolly]

"Promise, of course," he smiled softly back at Ferd. The sound of feet finally reached Felis's ears, and as he turned his head, he found Elayne and a nurse walking inwards. "Hello, Miss Miranda," he stated now recognizing the woman in one form or another. Miranda slowly smiled as she looked at Felis, yet after that, her attention fell towards Ferd, and she began to go over exactly what the boy was on. Turning down a breathing machine that had been pumping oxygen directly into Ferd's body through an IV, she then swiped the medical chart from the end of the young man's bed and looked over it carefully. Now that he had awakened, there was quite a lot she could do now. "Good morning," she stated after a moment looking at Ferd. She actually wasn't quite sure what time of day it was at the moment, but that meant nothing. "We were forced to limit your medication while you were unconscious, but.... considering...." Miranda didn't finish her statement. "I could start you on some morphine." Felis slightly recognized the name 'morphine' and understood it to be pain medication. Sighing softly, he found himself once again thankful that they were in a hospital rather than anywhere else. [/scrolly]

This actually meant a good bit to him. He looked at the door as he heard footsteps. He noticed a nurse and was even happier. He didn't reply when she said good morning.. since it hurt to talk. He then listened to her start to say. Why.. didn't she finish the sentence? Once he heard that he could get Morphine, he felt another bit of relief sit in. He'd actually get rid of this pain! Thank Arceus! "Please." he mumbles in a rather low voice. He couldn't wait to get rid of the pain. [/scrolly]

Upon hearing the nurse's response, Elayne looked back at Ferd as he answered and gave him a small encouraging smile. It was good to see him awake and though she would have wished to see him happier, Elayne knew that the circumstances he had woken up to would prevent that for a while. In truth, she was proud of Ferd and how strong he appeared to be, had she been in Ferd's shoes there was no doubt she would be panicking and probably causing more trouble than it would be worth it. Ferd though ... he was hardly saying anything ... and though Elayne didn't know what Felis and Ferd had talked about when she left, Elayne could honestly say that she was proud of Ferd for being as calm as he was being right now.[/scrolly]

"I'll be right back with your medication," she stated smiling a little before then walking out once more. Felis sighed outwards and found himself setting a hand to his chest clinically unnerved but also so relieved. Looking back towards Ferd again, Felis smiled softly. "You... missed Christmas, but all your presents are still wrapped up and waiting for you back home... I could bring them here when you're feeling better or you can just open them at home or...it's up to you," he stated though his voice shook slightly. Meanwhile, Miranda came back in again and stepped sideways before administering an IV in Ferd's arm rather gently. "This should help numb out the pain in a short bit..." she stated with a calm but confident look in her eyes. Felis sighed and moved slightly to let Miranda by when she needed to get by, and at her words, he found himself thankful again... [/scrolly]

He waited until he heard Felis talked to suddenly burst into even more tears. "I... I missed.... Christmas...?" he almost silently asks. His voice was still cracking and low. This couldn't be happening. He missed Christmas because he was in the hospital without an arm? His heart began racing as he tried desperately to calm himself. He suddenly saw the Nurse back again, and felt a tiny pain in his arm. He didn't feel the effects of the medicine yet, but once he did, he'd probably be in a much better mood and actually be able to talk to other's. [/scrolly]

Had he lost her? That damn woman who insisted he wear some sort of slippers, shoes or socks? He hated wearing any of them! Unless they had stars and moons on them and were bought by his friend! He hadn’t seen her in a long time though. As for the things she bought him? Well, they were hidden in the slums. Luckily they were safe. Along with all his shiny things! Well, except the ones he had recently found/gotten. People were so nice during the times of need. It was one reason Adam was still hanging around the reserve. His number one reason was for the food. Everyone there believed him to be a poor young man who had lost his family in the bombing. Now, he wouldn’t speak and was completely traumatized. Ha! People were so stupid.

Adam was hiding behind a small cart of medicine , his pale blue eyes desperately searching the different nurses to see if the one who had been trying to care for him had followed. Then… he spotted her and his eyes narrowed. He could see her asking around the other people if anyone had seen him and she was getting closer. He could make a run for it, but it would be much better if he could find another hiding- There it was! It was perfect! A nurse had walked out from the room in front of him which meant that room wasn’t locked and it was nurseless! So, without wasting a moment, he quickly raced around the medical cart while the woman searching for him was talking to someone else. Then, into the room he went, quickly shutting the door behind him.

A sharp breath was sucked in, held, then let go with a rather long sigh. He was safe. Or so he hoped. Now he- Adam’s blue eyes fell upon Felis and then Ferd. He didn’t know Felis at all, but Ferd, Ferd he remembered. That boy was the reason he was here. He had pulled the man out of some rubble after the bombing. It was really cool. He had been missing an arm and everything! Plus, Adam could tell the man had been somewhat wealthy. He wasn’t sure how wealthy, but enough that he could afford nicer clothes than many others. Originally Adam had been planning on saving him and then getting some food out of him or perhaps his pokemon. Heck, there had been the idea of getting the food and pokemon! However, when he made it here things changed quickly. First off, Ferd had been raced off somewhere else while Adam was sent to bed. After causing a few fusses, the nurses decided that Adam need a lot more care (Because he was completely traumatized) and thus he was being babied.

Then, very slowly he raised his hand and gave him a slight wave of the fingers to say hello. He didn’t speak, he just simply waved, wondering if Ferd would even remember him.

As Miranda gave Ferd his medicine, Elayne nodded at the nurse thankfully, hoping that Ferd would now be able to talk more. Even so, Elayne knew that Ferd needed his rest especially after waking up to such a shock which certainly had to take a toll on the boy both physically and emotionally. Elayne was about to ask Ferd something when a stranger walked in the room and shut the door behind him. Fear spiked through Elayne at the sight of him which of course immediately woke Elly up and leer at the man daring him to even try to hurt anyone in this room. If the stranger so much as made a move towards anyone, there was no doubt that Elly wouldn't hesitate to Psychic him against a wall ... if not through it. Elayne on the other hand had managed to calm down at least slightly when it seemed that the man somehow knew Ferd which was certainly plausible Elayne supposed because she certainly didn't know all of Ferd's friends. After all but staring at the man for at least a minute or two, Elayne finally spoke up,"Can I ... help you ... ?"she asked in a quiet, almost timid sounding voice, still not quite sure what to make of this man that had so suddenly walked into Ferd's room.[/scrolly]
