Pulling out a hairbrush from her purse, she ran it through her hair until she was sure that she looked at least somewhat presentable. Putting the brush away, Carly hopped up on one of the bar stools and swung her legs back and forth, wishing that her mother hadn't made her wear her jeans when she would be so much more comfortable in one of her miniskirts. But then after a good five minutes or so of arguing where her mother had threatened to ground her, she had caved and donned the blue jeans in question along with a sparkly blue long-sleeve v-neck shirt. Of course it was rather apparent that Carly was none too pleased about the situation, the jeans didn't allow her to move about near as freely as her skirts did for one but of course Mother hadn't been thinking about that when she had threatened to ground her now had she. Sighing, Carly put an elbow on the counter and propped her chin in her hand,"Evening Lyall,"she murmured, "Can I have one of your strawberry drinks please ... Mom's driving me up a wall ... again ... ." Surely Lyall would understand the situation, ever since the bombings Mother had become more neurotic than usual which made trying to go out and do her job all the more difficult. But then Carly supposed that Mother was just worried but it wasn't like Carly was going to find trouble purposely, never mind that it seemed to follow her anyways but hey talking with Lyall now, the night could only get better right ... right.[/scrolly] |

Shaking off a bit of snow, Jemma looked around. Combing his fingers through his hair idly, he wandered over to the bar as well. Since he hadn't come with the intention of dancing, he simply wore a pair of deep purple yoga pants and a black tank top beneath a lavender long-sleeve shirt that had a deep V-neck. Far too deep to wear on its own for everyday things. He sat there silently for a moment, considering what he wanted. Then, looking up to Lyall, he smiled and requested, "A Washington Apple, please." Glancing toward Carly, though, he looked slightly surprised. He quickly attempted to mask it, though, figuring that if she was as young as she appeared, he'd probably make her uncomfortable with such a look and if she wasn't so young, she'd probably be a bit pissed... So he just averted his gaze altogether, looking awkward. [/scrolly] |

It had been nearly an hour-long debate that centered somewhere around the lines of 'I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a Trickle Splash today' which the bartender wasn't buying considering the customer was chaotically notorious for running up a bill and trying to run away. Upon catching sight of Carly, Lyall had made one final argument, stated that if there wasn't any money, there wouldn't be any drink, and walked over towards Carly. Leaning over the bar a bit as the girl began to talk, he smirked a little. "Runnin' up a tab, sis?" he teased before hearing another voice and looking towards Jemma-.....
Well...
Damn.
She was cute. Blinking a moment, Lyall had to fight off the immediate compulsion to ask what had just been ordered as his mind retracted and found what it was he was looking for it. Looking at a steady intermediate between both customers, the bartender nodded and grinned. "Both comin' right up," he called before turning around and starting to make the drinks.

Ugh ... she hated wearing jeans ... but unless she had wanted to be grounded there was really nothing she could do ... . Carly had been so absorbed in her own thoughts that she almost hadn't noticed the other girl sit down near her ... almost ... . But then Carly wasn't about to admit that little detail slip ... and she certainly had noticed Lyall's reaction to said girl ... well now this could be fun. Still, Carly had also not missed the near startled look the girl had given her upon seeing her in a bar ... and this only served to make her even more irritated and perhaps mildly depressed that she just had to look like a little kid. Putting her elbow on the counter, Carly propped her head up with her hand and looked at the girl,"Something wrong?"Carly asked the girl in question, catching just how awkward she appeared. If Carly had to take a guess the girl's reaction was because of how she looked and right then Carly was honestly just irritated in general and seeing someone so blatantly avoiding even looking at her wasn't helping matters.[/scrolly] |

Upon hearing Carly, however, he mentally sweatdropped.
Yup, pissed...
"Oh, uh... No, nothing's wrong," he gave a short, nervous laugh before continuing, "You're just so cute. It's surprising that you'd be here alone, er... presumably." Quickly taking a glance over his shoulder, he hoped she was alone after that excuse. Having some possessive boyfriend either glaring or a perverted one wanting them to have a threesome seemed like an absolutely horrendous idea... Returning his attention to her, he gave a small smile.
"Either way, though... I'm not trying to hit on you or anything. I prefer the 'handsome' variety," he tried to explain his preference for males in a unique fashion. He lowered his voice enough to make it seem like he was trying to avoid Lyall overhearing, but really he was just faking it. The man overhearing wasn't something he was trying to avoid at all. In fact, letting him hear seemed like a good idea... hopefully, anyway. [/scrolly] |

Indeed, the whisper had been heard, and Lyall found himself fighting off a cheesy grin as he focused on the drinks he was preparing. When it came down to it, business outweighed listening in on a conversation.. especially when one could accidentally make something that could make someone sick if he wasn't careful. Shaking his head and chuckling slightly, the blue haired man finished preparing both drinks rather quickly before turning around again and setting both in front of the girls. "There," he grinned a little more than usual. "On the house," Lyall finished before standing back, cracking his knuckles a little, snagging a rag, and starting to clean off the counter not too far away.

"Thanks~, but yeah I'm alone. Besides, my brother owns the bar so I come here all the time,"Carly replied easily, laughing softly when the lady clarified that she had in fact not been hitting on her ... not that it mattered much anyway considering Carly didn't really care one way or the other. What she wasn't expecting to hear was what followed ... wait ... she liked Lyall ... oookay then. To each her own, but even still the knowledge made Carly just a little more on edge ... whoever this lady was better be careful ... especially where her brother was concerned. Carly's thoughts were interrupted when Lyall brought the drinks over,"Thanks Lyall~,"she replied, smiling appreciatively up at him before taking a drink, welcoming the slight burning sensation that took the edge off of her nerves. "I'm Carly by the way,"she said, looking back at the lady as she took another sip,"Hey that outfit is cute~, where'd you find it? I can't seem to find anything I like anymore ... or at least anything that I can wear ...,"Carly continued, her voice dropping to a low mumble as she finished her sentence.[/scrolly] |

A quiet giggle escaped his mouth and he grinned, though. Nodding, he wrapped his fingers around the glass with a grateful, "Thanks a bunch." Then the glass was lifted to his lips and he took a small sip before humming thoughtfully.
"Tastes perfect. You're good at this," he offered nonchalantly. He had not made the connection between Carly's brother owning the bar and the bartender actually being the owner, however. Turning his attention back to the girl, he grinned and offered calmly, "Name's Jemma. Nice to meet you, Carly." Pronounced 'gem-ah' and said with affection, as if it reminded him of something. At the talk of his outfit, he glanced down at it and giggled.
"This actually came from a shop called 'Diamonds and Denim'. They're pretty good about customer confidentiality as well as free -- or at least cheap -- alterations if need be. The clothes themselves can get a little on the expensive side, but they do have some nice things under eighty dollars or so," he explained. The customer confidentiality was the most important to him, really, but the fact they did alterations was helpful, since he was a bit broader in the shoulders than a lot of women. It wasn't that noticeable thanks to those wonderful tailors<3 [/scrolly] |

"Glad ya like it," was the easy response that was given before Lyall returned to his work wiping down the bar. Though he wasn't usually one to listen in on conversations -- more because he was the one leading the most of them-- he couldn't help but listen as the girl's talked.
Ah, so her name was Jemma. Not bad to note. Though he wasn't too interested in the topic of clothes, seeing as he had never been one for fashion and more or less went with something that could be considered official almost always: a suit of sorts, Lyall continued to listen regardless.

Carly wasn't certain if she could afford that much ... but then again perhaps she did have enough saved up for at least something in her size that didn't come out of the children's section at the department store. As much as Carly loved clothes, being 21 and still having to look at kid's clothing was just ... well rather embarrassing ... ,"Maybe you can show me where it is sometime, I don't think I've heard of that place before~,"she replied after a moment before taking a sip of her drink, hoping that Jemma or Lyall for that matter hadn't seen the minor panic attack she had had upon hearing the price. As Carly set down her drink, a stray strand of hair fell in front of her face, reminding Carly once again what a mess her hair must look like ... =3=;; Arceus she hated snow ... and of course she hadn't brought her mirror this time and ... ugh ... . Yes she had run a brush through it but her hair was a pain in the neck to get just right and this certainly wasn't helping her mood any whatsoever was it now. Tucking the strand of hair behind her ear, Carly took a sip of her drink and did her best to make it appear as if her hair being a mess wasn't bothering her in the least bit ... of course who knew how long that would last.[/scrolly] |

The cross-dresser was a bit surprised by the slight amount of shock that he could see overtake Carly, but didn't realize just how deep it went. To him, $80 was a damn good price for nearly designer clothing. Especially when they were willing to tailor it to you for little to no extra. This odd situation made him start to rethink how he viewed clothing... I mean, sure, a lot of the stuff his mom gave him after discovering his... hobby? lifestyle? Either way, some of the "hand-me-downs" were from Wal-Mart and even Salvation Army, he remembered. Still, it was a little difficult for him to fit in women's clothing sometimes, so this shop in particular was a gift from Arceus. Not like he could get that sort of service from just anywhere...
"Yeah, of course I can. I think we can make a fun day out of a little window-shopping trip to see if there are any other good places, too, while we're at it. Maybe I can even treat you to something from Diamonds and Denim so you can see if you like the clothes enough to buy from them in the future," he suggested brightly. Watching her minor battle with her hair, Jemma looked faintly amused but quickly masked it so as not to add insult to injury. After taking a few more sips of his own drink, he glanced down the bar at Lyall just to offer a small smile in the conversation's lull. When he looked back to Carly, he tilted his head at her just a little bit. "So... you mentioned a brother. Is he your only sibling?" [/scrolly] |

He probably would have laughed at her if he had though. Instead, he found himself zeroing in on prices. Eighty bucks? Well, considering how much pokemon supplies were, it wasn't as bad, but still caring for pokemon was itself expensive too. As he continued to listen, the blue haired man found a half-laugh coming to him. Girl's day out? Well maybe if Carly became better friends with Jemma, she might become a regular there which would be good if for nothing else but business.
As the conversation shifted a little, Lyall looked sideways at Jemma and Carly. "Nah, we have a little sister Alexis too," he answered back. Though probably cutting into Carly's conversation, Lyall had already stated it and wasn't going back now.

Carly's eyes grew wide when she heard Jemma offer to buy her an outfit from Diamonds and Denim and for a moment she was speechless, rather odd for Carly considering she almost always had at least something to say. "You would- ... I mean we ... ,"Carly began before closing her eyes briefly and trying again,"Yes I would like that ... thanks." Well ... she'd just made a complete and utter fool of herself now hadn't she ... Carly couldn't believe that she had gotten so tongue tied over the prospect of getting a new outfit of all thi- ... . Ah who was she kidding, Carly was beyond excited at being able to get something in her own size for once, this was certainly going to be a fun day~.
Taking a sip of her drink, Carly was about to say something when Jemma asked if she had any more brothers or sisters. ........ well there was Alexis of course but somehow the question only served to remind her about what happened to her real parents. Before Lyall, Carly had never had any other siblings before and ... shit she should answer the stupid question and be done with it. Taking another sip of her drink, Carly opened her mouth to answer Jemma when Lyall beat her to it, much to Carly's relief ... really now, why hadn't she just answered the stupid question in the first place. Taking a sip of her drink, Carly gave Lyall a rather appreciative look before looking back at Jemma,"Yeah, and I'm stuck in the middle of course, but then that's always the best part of the sandwich, ain't that right Lyall," she replied, laughing slightly before she took another sip of her drink. Carly wasn't quite sure where that analogy had come from in the first place but she had already said it .... meh, Jemma could make of it what she would it didn't really matter ... maybe Carly should lay off the drink a little though. Bah, who cares, Carly had had a rough enough day as it was, so what if she got a little ditzy ... .[/scrolly] |

Thankfully, that wasn't the case. He supposed it was rather surprising for a stranger to offer such a thing, but if she liked Diamonds and Denim's clothes, then she'd probably buy from there in the future. He liked the owners, so he wanted to get them more customers. This way, Carly could actually decide if she liked the clothes before struggling to decide if she wanted something or not. Well, theoretically. He expected to be with her for a while, trying on clothes when they went.
Upon hearing Lyall answer his question, he blinked. Oh, Arceus, no... He did not just do this. Offering a random girl someone to shop with was fine. Vaguely flirting with bartenders was fine. What was not fine was realizing they were related a little too late. Unable to fight the blush that rose to his cheeks, he glanced toward Lyall and then back to Carly. He really felt like such an idiot right now. So, he did the best thing he could think of. He laughed at himself and shook his head.
"I'm sorry, but when you said the owner was your brother, I didn't expect him to be working the bar. I don't usually see the owners; they usually keep things running from the background. It's nice to see one that actually works his own establishment," he explained with a smile. Sure, he was embarrassed at his mistake, but it could have been worse. Still, that was a bit nerve-wracking, prompting the cross-dressed man to take a few sips of his drink. Now the situation was a little bit awkward for him... Just a teensy bit, though. Nothing big enough to drive him out of the bar any time soon. [/scrolly] |

"Yeah maybe," he answered back. In truth, he liked being the older brother more and really couldn't fathom being a younger brother. Then again, if he had just grown up that way then aahhhh yeah who knew. Catching sight of Jemma's blush, Lyall blinked, yet as the laugh followed, he assumed it had just been a repression of that laugh and found himself chuckling a little before going to serve someone who had just sat down in that particular moment. The person in question appeared to be familiar enough with Lyall to then start up a conversation with him which distracted him further. [/scrolly] |

Some days it seemed like there was no end to them, and they weren't even like a bar and grill. No. They were just a bar. But somehow, the glasses more than made up for it all on their lonesome. Oh, sure, there was that whole steam clean dishwasher thing, but the glasses really did get much cleaner if Alex washed them by hand first, too. And she really did take pride in her job... as grueling as it felt at times.
For now, though, Alex had finally finished this batch, and with a little time to spare it seemed. Now to just find a way to kill time or pretend she was still working if nothing else until her break~ |3 ..... Of course, she didn't really have to work (or pretend to) as hard as usual considering... well... she'd sort of gotten her leg pretty roughed up in the explosions a few weeks ago, and Lyall did seem to be taking pity enough on her hobbling ass (as he'd damn well better considering... well... yeahIriswhatever). She was managing pretty well with just a crutch though.
Coming out from the back, she glanced around to see everyone pretty well-tended for the moment... hm. Well, Lyall seemed to be talking to someone, so she figured she'd just start asking around at the next-closest customers: a pair of ladies and the--... oh heh that one was.. Now thoroughly confused as to why Jemma was blushing in the first place, Carly blinked until Jemma laughed ... well a little delayed and it sounded more nervous than anything but oh well~. At the explanation Carly laughed slightly,"Yeah, Lyall's cool like that~,"she replied before hearing Alex call her name. Smiling, Carly turned towards Alex,"Hey Alex, what's up?"she asked casually before hearing Alex's question,"Nah, I'm fine right now actually, what about you Jemma?"she asked before taking another sip of her drink.[/scrolly] |

And Jemma could bet he was "cool" at more than just running a business... Ahem, but ANYWAY~ Even if he did think Lyall was attractive and cool, it didn't seem like a good pie to try and stick his thumb into, proverbially speaking. If he had learned anything in his years of making sure he was a convincing female, it became very obvious to him that dating your friends siblings or exes was a no-go without express permission from the friend in question. And Jemma preferred friends over other, more awkward relationships any day.
... On second thought... Alex's arrival did nothing if not completely destroy any determination the cross-dressed man had to follow his previous mental decisions. At least this wasn't the sibling of any could-be friends... Right? Only at this point, when he considered turning his head to ask Carly, jokingly, if this was Alexis, did he realize that he'd been staring -- even if with a relaxed, polite expression on his face -- a bit too long. "Ah," he uttered absently before gazing down at his cup. It was getting a bit on the low side, though it wasn't any less than a third of the cup left. He briefly considered the pros and cons of asking for another drink with that much left in his cup before realizing he really didn't have the time for that right now.
"Maybe a wine cooler? What..." he started to glance around for any sign of a mini-menu or list on the wall as he asked, "brands do you have? I think... Actually! If you'd make me an argentine pomelo, I'd much appreciate it," he decided with a bright smile at the boy before him. A horrible, TERRIBLE flirt, but Jemma just couldn't help it. What was the point of going out, especially to a bar, if you weren't going to socialize, RIGHT? So maybe the bartenders weren't the best choice to socialize with, but... ah, whatever. [/scrolly] |

O--oh wow, she... was actually kind of.... ... =3= Inwardly she sighed; really, some days Alex wondered about herself... bah. All the same, this woman was... fairly aesthetically pleasing. Yes. That was how she wanted to word that.
At the request, she found herself grinning and chuckling, both sheepishly, and the hand not holding her crutch rubbed the back of her head. "Oh, ah-.. No, sorry, I.. I can't make drinks- or not serve 'em legally anyway." She liked to think she was pretty decent at the making part when off the clock. "Not.. that that's really 'mixing' 'drinks' or anything I could mess up, I know, but my boss prefers not to give anyone reason to ask questions, ya know?" Doing her best to recover to a standard laid-back look, she offered, "But I can definitely put your order in. D'jou still want a menu in addition t'that, maybe? We have a really nice variety."

In his attempts to not make a fool of himself, it looked like he had. That was just like him, though... Of course, it all made sense now that it had been explained and it wasn't as if he would've known something like that if Alex hadn't said it.
"Yeah, it's no biggie. My bad. Don't worry about putting it in. I can just let this one settle for a while before getting the next if that's the case." Considering the offer, though, he reached up to tap his lower lip thoughtfully. Did he really want or need a drink menu? Maybe not, but having the young man retrieve one would certainly give Jemma more time to think about a better excuse to keep him from working and paying attention to him at least. "I think I will take a look at that menu. Thanks," he said with a bright smile.
Only at this time did he actually notice that Alex was on a crutch and he blinked in surprise. Now... he kind of felt bad. Though, he was on the job so there was no reason for him to feel that way. It still seemed like he'd been a bit too oblivious. It was a little late to mention it, though, so he'd have to find some reason why he wouldn't have noticed. Easiest way would be flattery, but... he'd take the few moments to consider something else so as not to seem too flirtatious. [/scrolly] |
