So four and a half hours ago I was supposed to be getting off the computer to curl up with my sick hubby and watch one of if not my all time favorite movie that I haven't seen in at least a year and not for several years before that one time.
Instead, other shit happened.
In response, I've revamped the Staff ranks to the best of my ability considering I don't actually have the power to edit or create ranks, only to alter which one a member holds.
In the past I have used the term "promotion" flippantly when discussing Mod --> Global Mod, and I apologize, as it has been misleading.
Global Mods have NEVER been intended to be "above" regular mods in terms of authority. It has always, always, always been a matter of responsibilities, and which ones have priority.
Global Mods had more abilities which aided in their priorities, but were allowed to do regular mod work as well because it is the greatest task on the board on a daily basis and the more people doing it the better for everyone, where regular mods were not allowed to help with most "higher" tasks (though they did occasionally do parts of shop threads, etc) because they lacked these powers (which I could not have given them, because, again, I can't edit rank abilities). But that was fine, because they were to be focused on the primary task of modding threads anyway.
Yes, there was some trust stuff involved, in "who do we trust well enough to mod threads but not to not destroy the board with admin CP access that global mods have if they get mad". (DO NOT laugh or roll your eyes. This has happened to me MULTIPLE times on MULTIPLE boards. On one board I had the ACP hacked by angry staff members FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES. To be fair, three were the same person over a course of several months. To also be fair, a few more times it wasn't actually 'hacked'; the more immature admin just deleted shit for no reason. Yes, this has made SG PARANOID. x3; But better safe than sorry.) HOWEVER. Trust was NOT meant to equate to authority. Trusting with access (and for the most part, trusting to just not use it ever unless specifically directed) is not the same as trusting to dictate things.
Apparently, this never came across very well.
To be clear, no one is being "demoted". Everyone is just being merged.
Except Elayne. She actually IS being promoted and DOES have increased authority. She's now fourth-in-command, under Jay who is under SG who is under Ether but runs things in Ether's absence mostly. Congratulate Elayne and hug her and do what she says. (Don't worry she probably won't tell you to do anything but post in your threads and give everyone hugs. xP Really she's being promoted largely because she's the most active old-Gmod by far and I don't want Jay to have to do all of the money things and thread-moving alone, which she would probably have to otherwise because I'm a lazy fuck. :B)
But yes, as for everyone else.
You're now all just the moderation team. So how does this work with priorities?
Easy.
Everyone's top priority will be thread modding. Everyone is also allowed to tend to bios, buying threads, etc... for now, later to be on a per-person basis if necessary. If you need a thread moved or money updated, tell an admin. In the case of money, specify that money still needs to be done within the post to remind us.
If you have approved bios on VC before, you can keep doing so without question. Tell us when it's ready to move and we'll trust your word and do so.
If you have not approved bios on VC before, you're on trial. Critique bios to the best of your ability, and tell an admin when you think it's ready. We'll double-check your work to be sure, then move it if we agree. Once you've successfully approved ten bios to admin standards, we'll stop routinely double-checking and just trust you at your word. If you seem to be having trouble giving out adequate critique, you may be asked to stop doing bios. This is not an insult or equate to demotion or anything of the sort. It just means your strengths are different, and/or possibly that you're too nice. Caden, I'm looking at you. You can do it! Man up and tackle those bios! I believe in you! (x3 There's nothing wrong with being nice though and if you do have trouble it's fine; you can just do that much more thread-modding.)
*FLOPS*
So there you go.
I probably missed something; just reply with questions or concerns or IM me or whatever. x3; But it's 2:30am and when I started this post it said "four hours ago" and I just had to edit in the "and a half" and I hurt and I'm tired and I need sleep. So yeah just tell me what I'm being a derp and forgetting if there is anything and I'll be happy to do my best to address it.. |3;;
(If anyone was going to ask "what happened", I repeat that "shit happened" and don't feel it needs further explanation. This should be a better system anyway aside from a little more work for admins and more accurately reflects the balance of power as it's always been meant to be to the best of my knowledge. Huzzah.)
