The waters of Sol Beach was just as Estelle remembered. The familiar rhythm of the waves and wind on her cheeks had a bit of a nostalgic feel to it. Sure, she normally wouldn't come here during the winter, but the weather was slightly warmer than usual and she felt like a walk on the beach. Actually, while doing so, she let her pokemon out just so they could join her. Trance didn't mind, and Quill and Static seemed thrilled to be able to run around in the sand. Then you also had the fact that Estelle was carrying her acoustic guitar on her back. "Planning on playing something?" Trance asked, gaining Estelle's attention. "What makes you say that?" Estelle's reply didn't phase Trance in the slightest. She knew her trainer too well to be swayed like that. Giving up, the noble just shrugged. "Well, I'm not entirely sure yet, but I had a feeling that if I did want to play something, it would be with my guitar."Trance nodded at the answer, satisfied. If she didn't have plans to, she would at least keep an instrument near her just in case. It made perfect since to the Gardevoir and decided to keep it so. Of coruse, off in the distance, Static started to drift a little too far off, so she had something else to do. In a usual pokemon manner, Trance called Static back, making the Pichu scurry back to Estelle's side. The noble, on the other hand, just laughed. The peaceful bliss the little mouse had was so cute to her. Just like having your own private island surrounded by nothing but water... "That's it!" The sudden exclamtion from Estelle startled her pokemon. What got to her all of a sudden? Of course, that question was answered as she ran over to a rock and sat down, pulled out her ipod, and then scanned through her playlist. She was about to start playing something, which caught all of the pokemon's attention. Selecting one piece from the list, Estelle put the ipod on max volume before sitting it aside and whipped her guitar into posistion. She already knew it was tuned, but strummed it once to make sure. Feeling comfortable in the way it sounds, she let the music start and then started playing along.Since it was more relaxing than anything, Quill just perched next to Estelle as she played, Static at her feat, and Trance sitting next to her trainer while listening to the music. It was basically a tranquil moment. Anyone nearby may hear it, but as far as Estelle and her pokemon were concerned, they didn't need and audiance. This was casual, and they could live with it.

Though the sky was rather overcast and threatened rain at who knew what time, and though it was cool out due to the season, this didn't seem to detour the true beach patrons of Era. One of such seemed to be the woman that had decided to play music, the other two appeared in the form of a pair of boys down the beach walking up said beach.
If one happened to look at these two boys who were walking one would see they shared a rather deep resemble in features almost resembling clones . The only real difference one could detect off hand was that the one walking closest to the water was a tad shorter and had deep purple hair while the one walking further inland was a little taller and had dark blue hair.
"Lexiiii, stop scowling. It was just a joke," the blue haired man frowned as he looked sideways at his twin. The other brother simply rolled his eyes and didn't gratify the statement with a response. Breathing in, the taller of the two huffed out. "C'mon you have done much worse to me and you know it," he tried again.
"Law, you just don't get it sometimes," was the response that was finally given. Freezing in step now, Lawrence looked back at Lexington and frowned silently. Upon finding that his twin had stopped, Lex stopped as well and stared at him without saying any more.
"If it really bothered ya that bad... then I apologize," Lawrence sighed after a moment causing Lex to sigh back and slowly smile. "Hey there's the smile I was looking for."
"Little brother, you're ridiculous sometimes," Lex slowly smiled back. The 'little brother' chuckled to himself and shook his head dismissing that argument all together. However, upon having a momentary silence, both seemed to become aware of the sound of music playing. Golden eyes looked sideways and assessed one another before looking forwards again. "C'mon let's see whose playing," Lex grinned after a moment before speeding up.
Lawrence smirked as well and simply followed after his brother keeping p his pace rather easily. As the music got louder, both continued to walk before finally coming to only about twenty yards away from the woman that was playing the music. Stopping just before, Lex looked towards Law who looked back at him. Both exchanged smirks before slowly starting to approach, calmer than they had been before.

Near the end of Estelle's loop, Trance caught sight of two boys converging on their location. Of course, she didn't make it blantly obvious to the two that she noticed them. "We have company," She told her trainer as Estelle started to search for another piece to play. "Why not invite them over?" she asked while searching through her playlist again, not even looking back to see for herself. "If they want to listen, I'll be happy to play." Without another word, Estelle started to play another tune. This one was a little slower paced compared to the one before, but calming all the same. The Gardevoir smirked before turning to the two boys, fully intent on using her telepathic ability on both of them. Whether they were scared by it or not was up to them. "I would guess you're hear to listen to my trainer play?" It was a straightforward question, but she kept her voice soft and inviting, trying not to scare them off.

As the woman took up another tune, Lex couldn't help but smile a little. Whether he was willing to admit his feelings for such or not, he did have an appreciation for the arts such as music outside of what he may have put up as a facade. Thus, when he approached closer still, golden eyes were more focused on the instrument than the girl playing. Meanwhile, Lawrence actually noticed the Gardevoir first, and a different pair of golden eyes settled on Trance's form. Though he wasn't overly comfortable with psychic types, due to the nature of their ability to read thoughts and get into the minds of others which sometimes defeated the purpose of acting, the fact was that Gardevoir in general were gorgeous creatures: so humanoid yet not human giving an exquisite quality all its own.
As the Gardevoir addressed both young men, each had a slightly different reaction. Lexington, who was more focused on the instrument and its music, seemed to jump a little abet startled to be hearing something from what was perceived to be inside of his head. Looking towards the Gardevoir, the purple haired man offered an easy grin and nodded his head before looking towards the player. "You play rather amazingly," he hummed abet a bit more dreamily than intended.
Lawrence, meanwhile, associated the words with the Gardevoir rather quickly and offered an easy smile of sorts. "Eh, we happened to be walking down the beach and overheard," he answered back making a slight bow of sorts and starting up formal introductions. "My name is Lawrence, and my brother over there is Lexi~" Lawrence teased causing Lex's gold eyes to shift over slightly if in somewhat of a light threatening move.
"Lexington," Lex answered back with a subtle smirk.

Once Estelle was done with her playing, she pulled out a clamp and placed it on her guitar at a certain fret. "Well, thank you for the compliment," she finally said to the two guys as she whirled around to face them. Static noticed this and then jumped on top of the rock, the Pichu eyeing the two visitors. "Pi!" The little pokemon said before dashing over to them and looking up, his face clearly happy. "Come here, Static." The Pichu obeyed his trainer, jumping back up on the rock and sungled between Estelle and Quill. The noble then started struming a few cords to make sure she had the clamp where she wanted it before continuing the conversation. "Not to be rude or anything, but your names are a bit long for me to remember. Mind if I just call you Law and Lex? It's easier to wrap my mind around." Suddenly, Estelle's fingers started to play on their own. It was as if she played this tune so much she didn't even need to look at what she was doing in order perform it. "Either way, my name's Estelle Nolarain. Of course, you can just call me Estelle."

Lex grinned a little and rubbed the back of his head as the young woman whipped around. As she spoke, the smile slowly settled into something more amused. "Heh, that's pretty much our nicknames anyways, got some insight on us do ya?" he teased slightly before listening to the music that had started to play. Though he more or less believed that it was his facade that enjoyed the music, somewhere he knew it was a bit more than that. "Heh, How about Stelle?" he asked after a brief moment.
Lawrence snorted a little at Lex and Estelle, though more at his little brother than the girl. " 'Course ya can," he answered back rather easily to the question of shortening his name. "Nolarain? Sounds like Nolan... wasn't he the king or somethin'?" he asked more or less playing dumb for the moment. The less one let on, the better off one was, usually.

The noble smiled at the 'insight' joke, amused that she guessed their nick-names from the start. But then came the suggestion of a nick-name for herself. "Stelle... Stelle..." While she pondered the way the name sounded, her playing slowed a bit. Obviously, she needed to have a certain amount of attention in order to play at 100%. "Sounds a little foreign to me. Then again, I've always been called Estelle, so I might need some getting used to it."Then came the name Nolan, which made her pluck a string harder than needed, making an uncomfortable noise. Her face didn't change, but to her pokemon, a note suddenly ruined meant a sensitive nerve was hit. "The former king?" Estelle questioned before starting on yet another tune. One would almost swear she changed it on purpose, the way the music sounded. "True, our names sound similar, but that's all it is. I'm in no way related to him, even if my father is a Baron of the West. Her pokemon, however, kept a close eye on her. They could feel that bit of tension inside of her, even if her playing didn't show it. One wrong word on the subject... who knows what'll happen then.

At the return comment on her name, the purple haired man grinned a little. "Well you're struck with it now," he clearly-teased before shaking his head and offering an easy smile still. "Or maybe Est?" was the question that was posed. To the sensitive ears of Lex, there was a change in the sound. She went up to forty-five hertz... came his mental calculation. If not for the fact that he had a thing for physics and engineering in general, though self-taught and therefore lackluster, he wouldn't have caught it, and even though he had caught it, he wasn't quite sure what it actually meant.
Lawrence, meanwhile, couldn't help but smirk a little at the exchange in nicknames. Though he missed the change in music, he didn't miss the shift in tension of the girl's words. However, the last statement was enough to cause a mix of confusion and interest to come to his face. A noble? Rather, a child of a noble, yes.... "Well now," he hummed a little not really saying much after that. What could they do with the child of a noble? Kidnap followed by money squandering? Nah, that was too classic. Law was not the type when it came down to it. However, a few other plans came to mind.
Lexington, meanwhile, had to fight off a sudden rush of emotion that had washed over him from hearing the information. A noble? Rather than the kind woman that had taken them in, the first thing that Lex thought of was the damn man that shot him and nearly landed him in the afterlife. "A noble girl?" he asked raising his eyebrow but keeping an easy smirk on his face. "Shouldn't you be in a castle or a mansion or something?" he teased lightly.

Estelle rolled her eyes at the other possible nick-name, but didn't say anything more on the subject. If they did call her 'Est', then it would be addressed. 'Stelle' sounds better when you compare the two.
Trance, on the other hand, was keeping close attention toward the boys before her. As soon as she mentioned her father, there was a spike in activity going through their minds, and she could feel it. The motives didn't exactly seem friendly, to say the least, making the Gardevoir fear for her trainer. "Estelle," she said, specifically to Estelle alone. "You may want to be more careful about what you say around these two."
Estelle gave a quick glance to Trance, a 'I understand' type of look that only Trance would notice. During time, Estelle stopped playing and used her guitar as an arm rest, ready to answer the question asked of her. "You make it sound like I'm some kind of sheltered princess." She was trying to sound amused, but honestly the topic was kind of annoying. "To be quiet honest, I hate nobles. They are selfish, disrespectful towards others, and complete pigs here in Era. The very reason why I'm not 'in a castle or a mansion or whatever' is so I can get away from it all. The world is so much more interesting when you're on the other side of the window."
For a noble to say such things herself would be a shock to most people. However, here she was, totally honest and not a hint of regret regarding her words. She may have been born a noble, but even a child could see she hated such status.

Though Lex didn't notice Estelle's glance at her Gardevoir, Law did, and a set of yellow eyes moved towards the girl. Upon realizing that the psychic type could be in his head, given he didn't know the level of psychics in all honesty, he ended up pushing the previous thoughts away as quickly as he could. However, as Stelle began to speak, Law found himself blinking. What was this? A rebel noble maybe? Well.....wasn't that cute.... really. Maybe there was more to this, and as he thought on that, Lawrence found his mind buzzing with questions. Maybe she's a bastard child or something... that'd explain it... came the final thought. At the moment, the thought that she could just be fed up with her parents or something didn't even register to Lawrence. Whether this was because of his lack of parents or whether this was because he was too busy trying to find the long-route explanation the world would never really know.
Whatever feelings that Lex had been stirring came to an utter standstill as Estelle spoke. She wanted to live on her own and be out of the castle.... A part of him couldn't fathom why, but another was giving excuses here and there. Why would she leave some sort of high-class lifestyle? Well maybe she just wanted to get out. Well why would a high lifestyle deny someone getting out? He really just... didn't get it. "Jeeze, pretty harsh, chika," Lex answered after a moment laughing a bit. "But yeah I can get the whole wanting to get out thing. The world's pretty great." he said with a cheesy smile.

Maybe she's a bastard child or something...
Trance caught that thought loud and clear, making the Gardevoir glare at Law rather menacingly. "You dare consider Estelle as such again and I will personally make sure the next light of day you see is from next month's sunrise!" That promise was directed solely at Lawrence. She doesn't make threats, as other pokemon knows. Once Trace states something, it's set stone.
Unaware of Trance's statement, Estelle kept her attention on Lexi. I wouldn't say the world is 'great.' Just... interesting." Going back to her guitar, she started playing the tune from before. The sound added something to the atmosphere that helped the noble calm down a bit. "After all, who doesn't know how twisted Era is? Greedy nobles drunk on power, loyalists that are chained to the past, rebels who are narrow minded of the future, selfish gangs with their own agenda..."
Looking to the sky, Estelle took a deep breath, smelling the ocean air, before speaking once again. "If I can inspire someone to actually make a differnce, I'll do it. I just wish I knew how."

A blink followed by a directional stare towards the psychic that was yelling at him was all the reaction that came from Lawrence. Though the hairs on the back of his neck had perked with the thought that he was being analyzed was confirmed, Law barely reacted. Hey it was a thought, chill out he mentally replied, oddly well despite his inexperience with such pokemon.
An eyebrow raised. A lip curled, and Lex found himself fighting off a laugh. She was just so skeptical, and it was funny to him who remained detached- distilled from everything outside of his own selfishness as Estelle might have put it. However, Lex found himself turning his head to one side as she commented on making a difference. "And what side are you on?" he asked with more than a little questioning in his voice.
Law snapped back to the human conversation and brought a hand to his chin. "And why not just make a difference yourself?" he asked, the blood of independence following after him.

Trance did back down from Law, but kept a stern stare on him as she made a final statement to him. "Thought leads to action. Remember that." No more needed to be said on the subject, so she turned her attention back to her trainer.
"Which side?" Estelle repeated. She thought she made it clear where she stands. Well, if she needs to be black and white about it (No pun intended), she would. "I take no sides. No one here is in the right. There's a reason why other regions have been able to minimize conflict, and Era is far from it."
Next came Law's question. "One person isn't enough to make a true difference. It takes the will of many, in unity, to change the world. I'm not good at public speaking, much less being a strong trainer, but I am able to play music. If I can use that to send this message, then I will be doing my part."
Trance just stared at Estelle, wide eyed. Since when has she displayed such maturity and wisdom? Maybe Estelle was growing up faster than the Gardevoir anticipated.

Though he could have mentally retaliated back just as quickly as Trance had, Lawrence ended up simply chuckling to himself. That was true, to a certain extent, but he didn't always do what came to mind nor did he keep what came to mind. If he did that he would have--....yeah no... not right now, and not ever. He'd keep those thoughts and feelings buried deep and kept far away from anyone or anything.
Estelle's reply caused Lex to blink, and after a moment, he chuckled. "You have to admit someone's more right than someone else though," he smirked shrugging his shoulders. "Even if they're the stronger or weaker of the parties, there's someone more right." But did it matter to Lexington wen it came down to it? It really didn't, as much as he seemed interested in it at the moment. He wasn't on one particular side, but he sat on the one that suited him for a moment. Whichever one ensured that he had money in his pockets and someone in bed, that was all that mattered to him....unless Law had a different opinion, of course.
Lawrence, meanwhile, was quiet and seemed to bring a finger to his lips in thought. "I don't see how playing music can help anything," he said flatly, something out of his general persona with people other than Lex. Usually he was one to agree and move on, but this, he was a bit more curious about.

'More right'? That almost sounds like 'more dead' to Estelle. However, she wasn't going to outright say it. It would probably start up an argument... at least in Estelle's case. Instead, she took a different approach. "Is that so? Well then, Lex, tell me. Who do you think is more right?"
Next, to Law's statement. It almost mortified her when she heard such words coming from his mouth. In fact, all of Estelle's pokemon tensed up when it was spoken. But instead of blowing up, like her pokemon expected, she was actually quite calm about it. Music is a message without words," she began explaining. Emotion without visable expression. A way for humans and pokemon alike to release their feelings and to resonate with others. It also has a big impact on our thoughts and moods." Now, to be a little more personal. "When the two of you found me, was it not because of the music I was playing? Did you not feel something when you heard the tune?"

Lex turned his head to one side and smirked. "Hey I asked you first," he replied with a cheesy grin on his features. Huh... guess I should come up with something... he thought to himself briefly after that.
Meanwhile, Law waited for the answer to his own question, yet as the group seemed to have quite a negative response, he raised an eyebrow. As she continued speaking, he half smirked. "I..." he stopped upon realizing he didn't know what he wanted to say, exactly. Sure he had heard the music, but he hadn't been about to go over if not for Lex's word.
Lex frowned a little and then smiled again. "I felt....kinda happy..." he replied gingerly before looking sideways at Law. " 'Bout right, Law?" he asked looking sideways at his blue haired twin who seemed to hesitate for a brief moment before nodding. However, even with this confirmed, it seemed Law was a little less satisfied with the situation now.
"But people have different reactions," he said raising an index finger. "While someone would like it... someone else may want to bash your instrument for it... and it doesn't really do anything to settle Era besides make people fidgety for while the song's playing... It can't stay forever..."

At least she was making a small impact one someone here. However, Law's 'matter of fact' statement made her sigh in a rather rough manner. Still, he had a point. Then again, so did she. "Different people have different tastes in music, and if the feeling doesn't last, it's not my fault. Besides, didn't I say "If I can" do so? If I can't, I'm still going to be a musician, no matter who says otherwise."
Most people would say her resolve was admirable. At least her Pokemon thought so. However, Estelle wasn't looking for praise. She just loves music. "But in any case, I understand what you mean. I may not be the most influential person on the planet, but I just want to do what I want to do, and if that's a crime, then I plead guilty."

"There we go," he replied causing Lex to look sideways confused for a moment. "You should do what you want to for yourself. Don't consider yourself a revolutionary or whatever, just do what works for you and go on," he continued before flashing a grin.
About this time Lex understood what his brother meant, and a quiet chuckle escaped from him. That was the philosophy they went by wasn't it? They, rather. That was the philosophy they had adopted over the years. Though they both may have leaned one way or another, it was for themselves that they did it. True it was selfish, but neither were arguing that they were the greatest people of all time. "Now that sounds like fun, bro," Lex slowly smirked a little towards his blue haired counterpart before looking towards Estelle. "Ya play well enough to run with it either way." [/scrolly] |
