Hayden jogged down an alleyway in Scorch City. He had come here to work on a well-paying commission for someone who needed an entire kitchen's worth of cast-iron wares. Thankfully, the client was kind enough to provide materials and tools, as well as lodging in a nice enough hotel in the city. Hayden had started his work the day before, but today, that project was on hold. The weather was a nice, cloudy day, the temperature low enough that his armguard didn't have to be covered. He wasn't the only one taking advantage of the day for some exercise. Coming down the alleyway after him, a Luxray with a Riolu on his back was being chased by an Absol. Hayden's friends, Sparky, Jack, and Anette, had convinced him to take a day off from forging cookwares and keep in shape. It hadn't taken much work on their part.
The trio stopped when they caught up to Hayden, and Hayden immediately spoke to them, using English. "So, I was thinking we explore the city a little, see if we can find anything interesting?" This was met with a chorus of affirmatives from the Pokemon, all in Pokemon language, but Hayden understood just fine. Waving for the three pokemon to follow him, Hayden set off at a brisk walk down the alleyways, with the Absol, Luxray, and Riolu trailing behind. who or what they'd encounter was a mystery, but on such a nice day, who cared what happened?

Though it was the daylight hours and down south of all things, the somewhat decent temperatures were actually enough to coax not only people out here and there but pokemon as well. People wandered in and out of stores, and for a few it was questionable if they even had money to buy anything with to begin with. Hayden's alleyway would eventually branch back into the main road where a few people could be seen. At the corner of the alleyway appeared to be a dumpster of some sort though if one made his way around it and actually looked behind it, he would find a pair of pokemon curled up next to one another. A Bonsly and a Scraggy both seemed to be resting peacefully where they were almost hidden on all sides. As for more lively pokemon, not too far away from the pair but more -ahem- up than either of them, a Glameow sauntered across a rooftop with such a refined air about herself that it was questionable just what she actually reflected of herself.

Hayden ran through the alleyway, taking a couple detours to try and mess with Sparky, Jack, and Anette. It backfired, though, and Hayden was surprised by Jack jumping off Sparky as he turned the corner back to the end of the alleyway he had started on, the Riolu landing square on the back of Hayden's head and making the trainer stumble forward from surprise. He laughed, and picked the Pokemon up, setting him down on the ground, despite his protests of "No fair! I wanted to ride on you for a change!". Sparky looked relieved when Jack jumped onto Anette's back. Anette just gave what must have been the Absol equivalent of a sigh, but said nothing. Looking around, Hayden noticed a Glameow, strutting about like it owned the place. He waved, calling out in the language of Pokemon and attracting some strange looks from the few people walking by. "Hey! How have you been on this fine day? Anything of note happen yet?"

As obscure as it sounded, Era was a place of strange people, and the populace of such knew it a little too well. A glance from a young woman from the other side of the main street was all that was paid for the man that had just called up like a pokemon to something that may or may not have been seen. The Glameow in question, however, seemed to take a bit more interest and turned her head. A quiet catty grin came to her features as she realized that the man had spoken her native tongue rather than that of human's. <Well now, hello there...> she purred out musically once more flashing that tantalized grin. <Of note you say, young human? Well apparently the fish salesman got lost in the sands again and won't be here for another few weeks, but otherwise, nothing that would appeal to your kind> she grinned before suddenly jumping straight off the side of the building and landing daintily on a few boxes that happened to be near the side of said building.

Hayden grinned as the Glameow responded. While she still acted superior, as expected for a stereo-typically vain Pokemon, at least she was down-to-earth enough to speak with him. Glameows had cold-shouldered him in the past, though in retrospect, he hadn't used Pokemon to talk to any of them. She jumped down onto the boxes, and Sparky chose this moment to speak up. "Hey, kitty. I'm Sparky. This is Annette, and the one on top of her is Jack. The trainer's Hayden."
Hayden sighed. "Seriously, Sparky? Are you trying to put the moves on someone who's less than half your body weight? Sorry about him." Then, Jack chimed in. Seriously, the conversation was getting a little mad. "Hey, you have really shiny fur. Can I pet you?" The Riolu jumped off of Anette's back and walked over to the pile of boxes, attempting to jump on top of one next to the Glameow. The box had other plans. It collapsed under the weight of the Emanation Pokemon. Hayden, Sparky, and Anette all laughed a bit: it wasn't the first time Jack had done something klutzy, and Anette was already trying not to laugh from Sparky's behavior. Hayden walked over to where Jack was lying, confused but unhurt, on top of the broken box, and helped the Riolu onto his feet. "Watch yourself now, Jack. You aren't as light on your feet as a Glameow, and you ought to know that by now." Hayden stood and turned to face the Catty Pokemon. "He's right, though. You have very nice fur. It must be hard to clean it all on your own."

The Glameow's eyes flashed over to Sparky reflecting a surprisingly flirty air if only for a moment. Kitty, eh? She'd been called quite a lot of names in the past, and that certainly wasn't a new one. However, the way he had spoken it had a nice ring for the moment at least. As Hayden spoke, the Glameow turned her head towards the human and flashed a surprisingly light smile. As Jack suddenly jumped in, the Glameow paled a little and backed up even as he jumped up on the boxes next to her. <I would rather you not> she replied with a surprisingly fearful sound in her voice rather than the prissy one she had been using. A part of her knew that it was silly to react in such a way especially to what seemed to be an honest request, but she had been hit too many times in various situations to want to touched. As the box collapsed under the weight of the small dog pokemon, the Glameow sweat dropped and shook her head- a conniving sort of smile gracing her catty lips. As Hayden spoke, the Glameow's eyes flashed to the man again, and for a few seconds, that catty smile remained on her features. <I'm glad you think so, it takes a bit of work, really> she mused quietly before shaking her head and dismissing the thought or so it seemed at least. <Now tell me what are all of you doing out today?> she asked turning her head a few degrees to one side as she assessed the man and his pokemon. Hayden smiled back at the Glameow, enjoying the conversation thoroughly. He was about to respond when Anette stepped forward and spoke for the first time since they had seen the Glameow. "We convinced Hayden to let making pots and pans wait until the sun went down, and explore the city a bit. All work and no play isn't much fun at all. The boy has to be reminded of that sometimes." Hayden sighed. "Now you're just making me look like I'm no fun at all! Come on, it didn't exactly take a lot of convincing for me to leave, and it really is better to work metal after dark here. Cooler."
After he spoke, Hayden leaned back against the wall opposite the Glameow. "But, they're right. It was all Anette's idea, really. Explore the city, see if we can meet someone new, and make me put off my work until sundown at least. And we did meet a very interesting Glameow today." Jack proceeded to tug on Hayden's shirt. Hayden leaned down as the Riolu spoke up. "Ask her to come with us, Hayden! Please please please please?" Hayden chuckled. "Someone's a little eager. Still, he has a point. I'm sure Anette wouldn't mind having another girl in our merry band of rebels, right, Anette?" Anette nodded her head. "I think it sounds like a great idea." Hayden turned to Sparky next. "And I think I can guess what your opinion is, friend." He smiled and turned to the Glameow. "So, what do you think? Would you like to come with us for a while? You don't have to do anything you don't want to, you can leave whenever you want, and I don't put anyone in those little Pokeballs unless it's too dangerous or you want a rest."

An eyebrow raised at Hayden's comment on her being interesting, and the Glameow's catty smile only heightened a little from it. The question from the Riolu instantly pushed that smile away rather quickly.Ah, he was a trainer through and through this one was. A quiet sigh escaped from her, and she shook her head trying her best to smile but finding it a little difficult. <Thank you but no thank you> she replied with a dismissive shake of the head. <I'm not one to be.....> Another shake of the head and another dismissive look came from the Glameow. Though she would never quite admit it, it was more a matter of trust to her than anything. Be amused by everyone but trust no one. [/blockquote]

Hayden sighed as the Glameow responded. Not at the response, but at the inevitable "Why noooooot?" that came from Jack. "Don't start that, Jack. I guess she doesn't want to come with us, and it's her decision." Hayden started walking, but one of the empty Pokeballs in his pocket fell out and rolled behind the dumpster. "Oh, great." He bent down and reached behind the dumpster only to find a sleepy Bonsly and Scraggy behind it. As quietly as he could, he grabbed the little ball that he had dropped. He didn't want to disturb the Pokemon, who were probably sleeping a little less soundly from the conversation that had been going on. Straightening up, he turned and started walking, his Pokemon following as he spoke to the Glameow in a more hushed voice. Can we move our conversation to the street? I don't want to disturb the nappers back there.

The Glameow sighed quietly as it seemed that Hayden was willing to leave her be. A better trainer than some... she thought dryly of a certain battle that she quickly shoved to the back of her mind. It was in the past, and there was no reason to bring it up again considering it only upset her most of the time. When the trainer dropped one of his pokeballs, the Glameow tensed briefly watching as it rolled back behind the dumpster.
Meanwhile, the sleeping pokemon seemed to continue resting peacefully. However, just as the man retrieved his pokeball, the Scraggy's eye flickered open and stared at him rather hard. For a brief moment in time, the Scraggy himself debated whether to suddenly throw himself up and fight the man that had entered such close quarters that he and the Bonsly had been in, but after a moment he decided to leave it alone for now and just shut his eye again.
As Hayden retrieved the pokeball and came back again asking if they could move the conversation elsewhere, the Glameow slowly shrugged. She wouldn't mind talking, at least. She was good at that, after all. It had helped her through a number of situations, heh. Bounding forwards with surprising zeal, she headed off leading out away from the alleyway a bit before turning around again and flashing another catty smile. <If you must now, it's ...just a ....> The Glameow didn't get to finish her statement for suddenly her ears picked up on something. Turning her head only to catch sight of a somewhat large Ponyta that was all but rushing down the street. In a sudden flying motion, the Glameow jumped forwards all but knocking into someone as she tried to get out of the way. <HEY WATCH IT!> She snapped venomously. The Ponyta in question just kept running. If anyone happened to catch sight of what was on his back, he would see some sort of saddle with a package on the side. Hmmm a messenger horse of sorts? Hayden was just as shocked as the Glameow when the Ponyta rushed in front of them, almost flattening the Catty Pokemon. How rude!, he thought. He decided that he wanted to know what was such a rush that this Pokemon was running at high speed through the city without watching where it was going. Anette, get in front of it and use Double Team, make it think that the road is blocked off. Sparky, run behind it and do the same." "'Right!" "'Right!"
The Absol moved quickly, gaining on the rushing Ponyta before jumping in front of it and seeming to split into five copies of itself, blocking off the roadway. The Luxray wasn't quite as fast, but still used Double Team to appear as if there were four of it blocking the path behind the Ponyta. Hayden ran up behind, holding up his right hand, the black metal shining in the sun. What's the big idea? You should watch where you're going, you almost flattened that Glameow! Is there a reason you're rushing like all hell is after you?"

The Ponyta in question didn't stop running even when the Double Teams were issued out and instead actually made to leap over one of the Absol clones with surprising strength. The saddle of sorts rose on his back but fell once more as hooves hit the ground again. As Hayden's shout vibrated the air, the Ponyta looked back briefly. <Forgive me but I'm in a hurry!> he called back before turning his head forwards and speeding a bit faster down the streets. The Glameow fidgeted and hissed in displeasure wondering just what the heck was going on.

Hayden's first thought was to issue an order to Sparky to hit the Ponyta with a low voltage Thunder Wave, but at the speed it was going, that had almost as much potential to injure the Pokemon as a full on Thunderbolt. As Sparky and Anette relaxed their Double Teams, he had another idea. Anette, use Quick Attack, but don't hit the Ponyta. Try and catch up, ask what's going on. Sparky, Jack, stay back here. Glameow! Hayden turned to face the Catty Pokemon with that call, as Anette ran off at a high speed and gained ground little by little on the Ponyta. Can you keep up? I don't want any more surprises coming out of nowhere until we sort this one out. Can't have a good conversation with a flat cat, now can we?
As Hayden, Sparky, and Jack set off at a run, Anette had reached a place just behind the Ponyta and allowed her speed to level out at an approximate match with the Ponyta's own. In a hurry? What's wrong? Can we help at all, or at least can you slow down? It's dangerous to run through the streets like this." As if to emphasize her point, the Absol barely avoided crashing into a fruit stand that she and the Ponyta passed. They were both almost completely out of Hayden's sight. Hopefully, the Ponyta would lighten his pace, but Hayden trusted Anette could easily handle any situation that came up. After all, she was the smart one of the bunch.

The Glameow's eyes flashed with something irritated at the thought of being mashed by another tall beast. Well it wasn't like she could help with her size! And there was no way in hell that she'd even think about evolving into one of those overweight monstrosities to increase it. After a moment, she tossed her head to one side and let out a 'hmph' sound clearly ignoring whatever Hayden was trying to say by this point. Maybe she was being a little immature, but the Glameow wasn't going to admit that!
The Ponyta, meanwhile, kept looking forwards as he ran though the voice did cause his eye to flicker to the side and acknowledge that someone was running with him now. <I must deliver this package on my back! There's no time!> he replied shaking his head a little. However, whether due to lack of consistent energy or due to the words he had just heard, the flaming horse did slow down a bit. Anette gave the Ponyta as concerned a look as she could while dodging obstacles on the side of the street. "Where are you taking it? Can't we help? If you run into something, the package won't get to where it's going at all." She was glad that the Ponyta had slowed down: she didn't have to run as hard to keep up.
In the meantime, Hayden was getting frustrated. He wanted to go and stop the Ponyta from running as fast through a populated city, but he didn't know how. None of his Pokemon knew the Hypnosis move. What can I do? Hayden snapped his fingers as he came up with an idea. "Glameow, I know you don't trust me or want a trainer or something similar, but that Ponyta stands a good chance of hurting someone rushing through a city like that. Can you hop on Sparky's back and let him rush up close, and use Hypnosis on the Ponyta? It's the only thing I can think of that'll get it to stop, unless Anette manages to talk it down. Please, just help me this once and I'll leave you alone if you want." Sparky settled in a low crouch, ready to bound off the second that Glameow joined Jack on his back. His strong eyes had easily tracked the pair even though Hayden was having trouble seeing through the glare. He could easily catch up by using the same move that Anette had used, especially now that the Ponyta had slowed down.

The fiery maned running horse breathed in deeply as he tried to find the air to keep going at his speed and keep talking. It was a little difficult to say the least, and he wished somewhere in the back of his mind that he was Rapidash and would be able to run much faster. <Just a bit father to a house at the end of the street that we're about to turn on to> the Ponyta replied keeping his eyes forwards and his legs moving. <M'lady's mother is ill, and I've just come into the town with the medicine she needed> the horse panted as he continued to run. 'M'lady' happened to be his trainer though she was nowhere in sight at the moment it seemed, but the Ponyta didn't quite care. He had been given a mission, and he was going to carry it out like the knight-horse he wanted to be! The Glameow frowned a little as Hayden talked, and for a few seconds she seemed to look at him with more than a wary motion. What was it to her if the horse hurt someone else, anyways? And why was she getting the sneaking suspicion that staying around this man wasn't good? Maybe she was just a little more paranoid than normal, and as she realized this the Glameow sighed. After a few seconds, she made a sharp nod and turned before leaping gracefully onto Sparky's back. Alright, she'd play this game. [/blockquote]

As soon as Glameow landed on Sparky's back, the Luxray took off, using Quick Attack to rush through the alleyways and come out onto the street that Anette and the Ponyta had just turned on to. Anette was a little surprised, and called out to the Luxray. "Sparky! Don't stop the Ponyta! He's just bringing some medicine back home. Let's try and keep everyone out of his way! Sparky considered for an instant: Hayden may have wanted the Glameow to stop the Ponyta at first, but wasn't his real goal to keep people and Pokemon from getting flattened by the horse Pokemon? He nodded to Anette and took off, running as fast as he could and making as much noise as possible to try and keep the road clear. Jack was holding on to Sparky for dear life at this point. "I don't think we should try to stop him if his delivery is that important. Let's just let Sparky and Anette do their thing for now.
Anette had taken off ahead of the Ponyta, running at the limits of her speed and making almost as much noise as Sparky. Hopefully, her reputation as the Disaster Pokemon and Sparky's intimidating appearance would keep people out of the way. Meanwhile, Hayden was running down the street and, as he turned the corner that Anette and the Ponyta had rounded a good 45 seconds ago, he saw the scene unfolding. He hadn't heard anything, but it was most likely a good idea on Anette's part, so he just leaned against the wall and watched the whole thing unfold.

OHGODARCEUS. The Glameow's claws dug hard into the Luxray as Sparky took off if only from sheer tension fear that came with the explosion of motion that had just occurred. Thankfully she managed to stay on and probably didn't hurt the Luxray too badly with her incessant clinging, but the Glameow was rattled none the less. Oh Arceus she tore a nail! Oh damn it all damn it all to hell and back! As they caught up with the Ponyta, the Glameow was ready to get this all over with and was about to release a Hypnosis when the call came out. What? She wasn't needed? Oh for all the powers in the universe! A sigh escaped from the cat pokemon, and she simply secured her place on Sparky's back rather than retaliate in that moment. At least she hadn't been beaten or something, but still ugh her nail oh God.
The loud amount of noise and the scene of various pokemon charging down the street was indeed enough to keep men, women, children, and pokemon off the streets. A girl who had been walking quickly scooped up her ridiculously dressed Snubbull who was dawning various ribbons and a frilly white dress despite the heat and turned down an alleyway to avoid the chaos that was running by. The Ponyta just kept running thankful that he had a now clear path. Doing his best to speed up, he finally came to the house and made to stop briefly only to turn and quickly make his way up the step. With his small but full weight, he knocked into the door making a rapping sound. Somewhere inside, something startled could be heard getting to its feet, and after a moment the door swung open, and a Rattata appeared holding what appeared to be a large butter knife as if to use it to defend the house if need be. <Marcius! By Jove you game be a fright!> the small rat pokemon sighed before looking around and noting the other pokemon in the vicinity. <What in Ho-Oh's name is- > <No time Gus! Where is Miss Danielle? I have her medicine!> the flaming horse stated stomping his foot briefly. The Rattata stiffened and quickly made a nod in understanding before gesturing in the house. The Ponyta didn't wait and instead went straight inside disappearing behind a turn in the wall. Meanwhile, Gus- or rather Guston was left to deal with the rest of the other pokemon presumably in front of the house then. <Ah...and who might you be? Friends of Marcius?> he asked turning his head to one side and shifting the butter knife he was wielding from one shoulder to the other. He wished that Marcius had decided to explain but knew once the horse was on a mission, there wasn't much anyone could do to stop him. [/blockquote]
