Face Claim: Chrome Dokuro - Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Personality: Sanja is...Well, a teenaged girl. Noble raised at that. A walking contradiction in addition! Fun, huh? Well, to break it down, lets start with that teenaged factor. She's nosy, bossy, sometimes obnoxiously bratty. She has a quick mouth and a quick hand, so it's best to not spur on that firecracker temper of hers. She can be rather loud and boisterous, and a lot of people find their patience running thin around her. She's highly opinionated, bluntly honest, and isn't afraid to tell you like it is without cushioning it. For a girl her age, she can quickly revert to sarcasm and cynicism when in a bad mood, being prickly at best during those times. Sanja is also something of an adrenaline junkie, and loves to just have fun. Finishing this off, she is a bit of a kleptomaniac and isn't afraid to steal what she wants. ("Oh, you don't want to sell it to me? Daddy won't buy it for me? Fine. YOINK!")
Now for that noble raised factor. Because of this, Sanja is a rather spoiled brat. She's used to getting what she wants, so being told 'no' isn't on her agenda. Few have ever raised a hand to her, so she has little to no fear of punishment. She's also very smart; personal tutors do that to ya she says. (Chemistry and reading were her favorite classes!) Not to say she won't make stupid moves; she's smart, not wise. Moments of wisdom aren't common from her. In fact...They're pretty darn rare. Anyways, those same personal tutors taught her self defense, so Sanja has become pretty adept at defending herself. Looking for the next thrill, she even took classes (and still is taking classes) on kendo, fencing, staff fighting, and pike use. Still, because of her noble status, she's forced to takes classes on court manner, being a proper lady, and all that jazz. Which she constantly skips out on in favor of something more fun.
The contradiction in all this? She hates being a noble. Sanja would far rather be in a gang than to be a noble. Yet, when she gets into trouble over her head, she always runs back home and expects her family to save her. Because of this, she constantly feels the needs to prove herself to the outsiders, even at dangerous costs. She loves being with the common people (they're soooo much more fun!), but her home is with her family. This leads to her being very snippy around people at times, because living two lives like she does is stressful, don'tcha know. Snippy at her family when they ask of her so-called friends. Snippy at her friends when they talk about nobles or ask about her family. No one really knows where her loyalties lie, but she constantly says not with the nobles. Yet she always goes home to her noble family and noble house in the end...
Other: Don't take away her eye patch. EVER.
Family: Viktor Zupan
Andrew Zupan
History: Sanja's upbringing, while noble and rich, was never exactly stable. First, she never knew her mother. From the way her dad talks about her, she died a while ago. But from what her brother says, the woman just left. She's not sure who to believe on this, but she'd rather trust her dad. See, her older brother, Andrew, had never been right in the head. He was crazy on the best of days, psychotic on the worst. Sanja stays away from her deranged brother for this reason, as he's too unpredictable even for the black sheep girl. Because of the jealousy and avoidance (among other more painful things...) that goes on between these two, they don't get along well.
Now, seeing as her brother was too deranged to carry on in Viktor's place should the family head die or be otherwise taken from power, Sanja has grown up knowing she would carry his mantle someday. As a Baroness, it wasn't much power, but it was enough to earn her some respect. Unfortunately, Sanja had never showed any interest in taking over the Zupan family manor and lands. And she still hasn't. Her father, Viktor, has done everything in his power to make her calm down and to groom her for the part, but Sanja has done everything within HER power to resist. "It's not who I am!!" she'd always scream before she fled the manor.
Because of this constant struggle of duty and freedom, the Zupan household has always been strained. Viktor's desire to have his children carry on his name and keep the Zupan house alive and strong had always been overbearing. Andrew's psychotic episodes and obsessive devotion to his father only made things worse. And then, Sanja's constant running away and playing hooky...Many arguments, many tears, even blood spilled. What a troubled home...
So, those bits of her life helped you to understand her home life, and more of the relationship between her and her family. But, there is so much more to Sanja than just that...
Having never known her mother, Sanja had been raised by her father and a handful of the household staff, later on even by her teachers. Because of this, she has learned to accept many different kinds of people, and to know and accept love in many different forms. This may have also spurred her on into identifying more with non-nobles than with the bluebloods she belonged to. And while living as a noble was more than comfortable, what with personal tutors, never going hungry, having just about anything she wanted...It became ever more dangerous. At the age of five, Andrew started his ever violent attacks on Sanja. Back then, she just wanted her brother to love her and to play with her. Was that really so much? To the five-year-old, it wasn't. But, by this point in time, Andrew's mind and personality had fully split into two, making him even more unpredictable. One summer afternoon, Andrew simply snapped at his little sister. Cornered her, attacked her, seeming to relish her screams. That day, Andrew had ripped out Sanja's right eye. As one can imagine, the two had never been close since, one often leaving the room quickly when the other entered.
After that event, Sanja had a personal bodyguard protecting her. Not from the outside world, but from her brother. As added protection, Sanja was given her first Pokemon at the age of seven. An adorable little Sentret which she promptly named Sly. By the time she was ten, Sly had evolved into a Furret, and Sanja had finally grown spine enough to leave the house by herself. That was when she had her first run-in with street living kids. Even though they were poor and dirty and often starved...They still smiled. They still had fun. Was this the real heart of the world? The kids, back then, readily accepted a new playmate. Some were younger, some were older, but that didn't matter. All of them became her friends that day. Since, Sanja snuck out as often as she could, so she could play in this new, outside world. As she grew up, her life steadily became more split. Split between the noble life she was born to, and the street rat life she's grown to love. By the time she was twelve, she had learned how to stand up for herself, how to pick pockets and steal from vendors, how to pick locks...Even how to actually battle. During that time, she had caught a Cacnea, and soon after that a very oddly placed Buizel.
Near the beginning of her thirteenth year, she traded Pokemon with one of her close friends. His stubborn and rash Sneasel for her calm and quiet Cacnea. Given Sanja's weakness for weasels, she readily accepted after her Pokemon agreed to it. During her thirteenth year was also when the noble community was harshly disrupted by the rebels. Nolan the Jerk (as Sanja called him) fell, and Alice both rose and fell from power. While Sanja wasn't personally effected by this, even Barons feared that they were next. Her father kept a tighter leash on his little black sheep, and she grew more desperate to get to the outside world. Even now, at the age of fifteen, Sanja still sneaks out almost every day to be in the places she felt far more comfortable. To escape her doting father, her psychotic brother, and the pressures of being a noble...
