I'd love to see the wool slowly start to fade away in the evos and it gets a picnic basket at some point and is wearing a hood and.... derp... I imagined a Ridinghood shaped figure in the evo's stomach... and it just killed me.

I still say it's matter of opinion I also loved most of the drawings you put there SG. Weren't you the one who said generically Badass is a thing? With the Red legendary guy? To this note I also didn't like the second generation of Pokemon all that much. Guess this is the reason why, I mean I loved the starters becuase well they're awesome. Totadile in particular becuase he was my first Pokemon ever.
Upon reaserch I have realized I'm very wrong ,and that turtules are infact reptiles. I had mistaken the amphbias animals for amphbians ,and again I'm sorry.
I know mareep is based off of a sheep , but it also has an odd color scheme and horns. Which may or may not be ears. And instead of a short tail it has a long one with a light bulb at the end of it. Yeah it's generic , but at least it's interesting to look at and it makes you question ram or sheep?.
I do see your point in that some Pokemon in the past generations are just as bad as the "Modern ones" case n point krabby, ursarang, poochyena and bidoof. Maybe I'm just growing up, and realizing they aren't all that original, but not realizing that they never really have been. That last sentence confuses me , but hopefully you get the point.

...If there is a third legendary, it better damn well be Z.
X and Y could be a reference to dimensions (such as the X and Y axis in math), and if there is a third legendary, it would accordingly be Z (because for three dimensions, Z is a common representation of the third dimension).
As for the reference to biology, it's an interesting theory, but I'd prefer if it was math and dimension based more than anything else xD.

Math oh god no anything , but that. On a Serious note I would hate for it to be Z. Simply becuase it would be like a rip off of Yu-Gi-Oh. For those who have no clue what I'm talking about I shall explain. In the most recent entry into the Yu-Gi-Oh series, Yu-Gi-Oh Zexels; They introduced a new type of monster called XYZ. (pronounced ik-seez) An example being Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon My personal favorite XYZ.

...It would not even be close to a rip off.
That would be akin to saying that because a truck is blue and a car is blue, the truck ripped off its color from the car. Or that digimon ripped off pokemon because they both have 'mon' at the end of their names. It would be akin to saying that because space and time travel have already been done by Dr. Who, anyone else doing it in any variety of different manners are direct rip offs that includes Palkia and Dialga.
Using a base idea, especially where letters and names are considered, isn't even close to ripping anything off. If you want to go about it that way, you could say that things sharing the same name including people are rip offs in some form or fashion. Don't bash possibility because someone did something not even remotely similar first.

XD;;; Yeah MC that's like... saying that everything "ABC" ripped off the Jackson 5 because they wrote a song including it once. (That doesn't begin to cover that Yu-Gi-Oh! should have died after the first series or done more with those characters instead of introducing increasingly overdone ones in increasingly ridiculous plots, but still.)
That's like saying that Pokemon ripped off Crayola by naming versions/characters "Red", "Green", etc. xD
It's like saying every fire fox ever made ripped off the web browser. xP
No the third one is obviously Zsomething. Whether or not we get a "Z Version" is to be seen of course, as we could get X2 and Y2 or no expansions this round or something entirely new. About the only way I'd accept a non-Z thing (because as great as something random like Q would be, my OCD must be satisfied, and FUCK A BUNCH OF 649 BULLSHIT THEY BETTER NOT DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT AGAIN) is if it was "Pokemon Omega".
xD Of course if they do that (1) a few boards I've seen with that title will feel ripped off and (2) if they ever do a Gen7, fans will EXPLODE. "YOU ALREADY DID GOD *AND* OMEGA, OMEGA MEANS THE END, OH MY GOD GAMEFREAK STAHP."
As for bodies or dimensions...
Can't it be both?

....The image of all the pokemon characters as crayons is...is...cracking me up oh mah gawd. I'm dying.
Also, if it's X2 and Y2, I am requiring an R2 D2 *beaten* Technically I got my R2 kick from Code Geass-- LULUUUUUUUUUU Q_Q-- and D2 would be weird if it was Diamond 2 or something but still
As for Omega, I would want an Alpha, Beta, and Gamma first plz *shot*
And eh... it could be both. I'd just... be freaked out by what the third germ layer would look like tbh o.O;

That's ridiculous you guys' , and you know it. You're talking about archetypes well in the doctor who case anyway. I'm talking about two series of monsters using the same idea of the last three letters of the alphabet as a concept of stronger monsters with higher stats then the average Joe. On top of that Xyz are still relativity new being released in the summer of 2011 making it 1.5 years old. To put it more simply it's like pillow pal's Vs. pillow pet's.
Ridiculous plots and overdone characters are the best for kid shows where a game could decide the fate of the universe. BeyBlade FTW.

x3;;; No MC you're being ridiculous. It is THE GOD DAMNED MOTHER FUCKING ALPHABET. Get the fuck over it.
GOD FORFUCKINGBID TWO COMPANIES INDEPENDENTLY DECIDE TO USE *THE ALPHABET*. FUCKING COPYRIGHT SCANDALS UP IN THIS BITCH, YO.
BECAUSE SPECIFIC ARCHETYPES ARE LYEK TOTEZ WAY MORE GENERIC THAN THE BASIS FOR THE MAJORITY OF ALL WESTERN LANGUAGES.
I DON'T KNOW WHY I'M CUSSING A LOT TONIGHT OR WHY I'M USING ALL CAPS.
I'm going to blame it on several kinds of simultaneous cramps/soreness and the fact that I've been trying to sleep for almost two hours and haven't been able to stop shaking/stimming long enough to have a chance idefk.
XD;; And ah... I guess the third germ layer could be pretty uh... yeah? But I mean I wouldn't have thought of X and Y as those things if they hadn't been pointed out. And now I look and go, "Huh, I suppose I can see how that could have been somewhat inspiring for part of this design," so I mean it doesn't have to be a huge thing, nyeh?
Though I think everyone is forgetting actually that "third part legend" didn't become a thing until third gen. In first the version mascots were starters including Pikachu and in second Gen a comparatively random legend got the spotlight in the third game (not that I'm complaining). There was no 'third part' to Ho-oh and Lugia, and there was no 'big duo' at all in first gen unless you count Mewtwo and Mew, which have an entirely different hierarchy than anything that came later with the closest being Phione and Manaphy, and that's still a wide stretch.
So "Z" isn't guaranteed. IF there's a third part, though, it should be Z. Omega would be acceptable but a tad sketchy unless it WAS the literal last ever, being both 'end of alphabet' and 'end of series'.

MC, it's the alphabet. Also legendary pokemon =/= just stronger monsters with higher base stats. They're creatures who have direct influence over the world in some way (time and space, anyone? yeah that's a big one. The weather trio, yep I'd suck if the weather just sucked) and are not locked up in cards and whatever else they've come up with since I haven't followed YGO since like the 8th grade.
And *petsSG* :<
X'3;;; and yeah.. if it was the lining of the internal organs such as the stomach and the heart I just....
....
OH GAWD.
I got the image of this giant stomach-mon. Like... It eats everything and this is somehow intertwined with the legend of world destruction. I just...
And then the image of some anatomically correct heart saying "BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF JUSTICE AND LOVE" just... I just... I have no words to describe the wtf that I get from my own brain sometimes.
And ... yeah that's true o3o. I guess my brain's gotten used to the trios over the years, yeah. I think I'd be fine if they just left it at two, but if they did anything with three that wasn't Z, I'd probably flip a table. As for Mew and Mewtwo, o3o yeah their relationship... is more 'two halves of the same coin' but not even that really fits exactly. So, yeah true... huh.
...Just remembering Lati@s suddenly and their genders and whatnot, I wonder if X and Y could refer to chromosomes too. X being the generic female one and Y being specific male. If that were even part of it, Xerneas could be the female of the pair and Yveltal could be the male. It'd be a nice touch I suppose.

X"3 I kind of.... was about to say hope so but don't know how I feel about that actually. I was annoyed that "XY = Male Chromosomes" and was jokingly saying I wanted someone to start a trolling social justice protest about "the peak of Pokemon's sexism" but I was like "shit people would legitimately unironically jump on that wouldn't they.." But with your suggestion.... Xerneas is a STAG. Stags are male and I don't-... xD; I don't want to see a female stag any more than a male Miltank or a male Jynx or a female maned-lion-thing. Not even like Luxray (I'm good with females having smaller manes but it wouldn't bug me like that anyway) but like a realistic-looking mane. And of course that would bug me less if it was 50/50 like Sawsbuck (I mean buck is in the name guys) because while I twitch I'm just like "eh I can forgive lack of huge gender differences." Plus there are species of deer/relatives where females have some horns too and I can suspension of disbelief. x'3; A female-ONLY stag or maned-lion though.. That bugs me. I... guuueeeessss it would be kind of interesting if Y was female because.... Idk it'd bug me switching it too but intentional inversions of names (like Greenland/Iceland?) doesn't bug me a fifth as much as a female-only stag would. x'3;

X'3;;; I don't know why but the way you said that just made me giggel so damn hard. Bu... yeah that's... true... X'3;; and not completely off topic but did you know that unlike the human species where the Y determines the male and if there is a single X then it is female, Drosophila (common house flies) deal in numbers of X? To the point that if it is only a singe X it will be male even without the Y and only of it has 2 X's would it be equivocally female. I found it disturbing and interesting. But... xD I don't know... And.. Somehow XYZ reminds me that it can be slang for Examine Your Zipper.. and with the fact that the third germ layer could be internal organs my first thought was like... a dick or vagina or *beaten* Gawd that's terrible. *smacks brain several times over* But I just... now I just can't get it out of my head. Pokemon Y U make me thing these things?? ....Oh hey. If it's based off of France, then what if it is a reference to the XYZ Affair? It's a long shot obviously, but... yeah I suddenly remembered it from history.

Well P: fertile women need two X's yes. But actually, a human that has a singe X will develop almost exactly like a woman with two X's because one of the X's is silenced in each of the cell's upon differentiation. This is to account for the fact that men only have one X, and if both X's were activated, they would make twice the proteins on the X. However, if some mishap were to occur and the zygote only had one X, she would develop as a normal woman except for infertility in her own gametes. But yes, the generic is two.
Also on a similar topic, the fact that one of the X's is silenced is the reason that Calico cats are all female. It is because the coloration of their fur is on the X chromosome, and one of the X's is silenced upon cell differentiation in each one of the skin cells and hair folic cells. This silencing is completely random, and thus the orange could be silenced or the black could be silenced in certain areas.
