Devin felt the sudden urge to chuckle as the Glalie apparently tried to 'taste' the Great Ball. Apparently it didn't realize what the Great Ball was for, and it certainly wasn't for food. Devin realized that it was highly likely that the Glalie would become more frightened again if it realized what the ball was for, so Devin decided to withhold that information for the time being. He said to the Glalie, "Oh no, this ball isn't for eating." Devin then set the ball on the ground at his feet. He wondered if the Glalie would inadvertently capture itself by examining the ball further.

It wasn’t for eating and it was much too hard to bounce so then what was it for? Surely the human had a reason for taking it out. It almost looked like it had a button on it. Perhaps it held something inside. Oh, like a toy of some sort. She really wanted to know if that was what it was for. “Gla la?” she asked which mean, does it open? Though as she asked the question she found herself floating over to it and giving it a light tap. Nothing happened. So, she gave it an even harder push causing it to roll a bit on the ground. The sudden movement of the ball seemed to scare her a bit for the next thing she knew she was freezing the air around her again. Yet this time the ice not only formed around her but around the great ball as well. Now she had done it. She was pretty sure the human would be upset that she had frozen his toy.

Even is the Great Ball had in fact been broken it wasn't that big a deal to Devin. He could always buy another one. However the problem was that Devin couldn't tell for sure if it was broken until it thawed out, which wouldn't happen until he moved it to warmer temperatures. No matter though, he had another Great Ball in his backpack and took it out. Again, he began to fiddle around with it in his hand wondering what the Glalie's response would be to this gesture.

Devin hadn’t gotten mad at her for freezing the ball. She was pretty sure he would have been but he wasn’t. Instead he had gotten out another ball that looked just like the last one. Wanting to see the new Great Ball that Devin held, Glalie moved closer to the human.

In spite of the possibility that the Glalie could inadvertently freeze this Great Ball as well, Devin nonetheless held the ball out in front of himself towards the Glalie so that it could get a closer look. The capture button on the Great Ball was inadvertently facing towards the Glalie, which was something that Devin happened to be oblivious to.

A huge smile grew on the Glalie's face when Devin brought the Great Ball closer for her to see again. Once again she began to study it very carefully, noticing that just like the frozen great ball, this one had a button as well. With her curiosity getting the better of it she quickly hit the Great Ball and got ready to run again. However this time she didn't get the chance to run far as the Great Ball opened and took her in a flash of bright light. It began to wiggle for a while before finally it spotted with a small click.
Name: Species: Glalie Gender: Female Ability: Ice Body - Heals for 1/16 max HP after each turn during hail. Personality: This Glalie is extremely young and just barely the age to have left her mother. She is extremely timid around everything and everyone except her trainer. When she is afraid she freezes the air around her, covering herself and anything she's touching with a shield of ice. She is also a rather curious pokemon and as long as she feels safe she will try to examine the things around her.
The same Snorunt from before was once again walking by with not one, but two dried leaves it had found. It still paid very little attention to Devin and instead was intent on what ever it was she was doing. That was until a small baby pokemon stuck it’s head out from under the steps. In a fit of panic the Snorunt dropped her leaves and ran over to the small Smoochum. It seemed the Snorunt was trying to get the baby pokemon to go back under the steps but the Smoochum wasn’t listening at all. Her tiny eyes and big smile made it clear that she wanted to look around.

Devin picked up the Great Ball which now housed the Glalie and casually put it away in his backpack. He then heard a bit of commotion coming from a short distance away and turned his head in the direction that he thought the sound was coming from. He noticed a Snorunt, perhaps the same one as before, apparently trying to do something with a Smoochum. Devin was curious about what the Snorunt and Smoochum were trying to do, and walked over closer to them. Once he was close enough, Devin called out to the two ice-types saying, "Excuse me, what's going on here?"

A shiver of panic ran up the Snorunt's spine when the voice of the human rang out. Without a moment to spare the wild pokemon quickly turned around and attempted to hide the Smoochum. "Runt." was the reply Devin got which meant, 'Nothing'. Right after she replied the Smoochum pulled herself onto the Snorunt's head and looked up at Devin. With a huge smile she began to wave saying, "Smoooo Smoooo". What ever she had said wasn't in either pokemon language or human language. In another fit of panic the Snorunt turned around and began trying to get the Smoochum to hide again. It seemed the Snorunt was trying to protect the baby pokemon.

Were these two Pokemon playing with each other? If so, they certainly had a unique way of doing so. Devin couldn't really tell what exactly they were trying to do, or what they were trying to tell him, since their sounds were somewhat unintelligible, not in terms of speech, but of tone. Perhaps they were both afraid of Devin for some reason. Even this was unlikely however, given that the Smoochum appeared to be smiling at him. The Snorunt on the other hand seemed more likely to be afraid. Devin tried to calm it down by saying, "Settle down, I'm not going to hurt you."

Upon hearing Devin speak, the Snorunt stopped trying to get the Smoochum to hide and turned around. For a moment it seemed like the Snorunt was studying Devin in order to decide if he was telling the truth or not. Finally she gave a small nod, “Sno” before stepping aside so that the Smoochum could get by. The very moment the Snorunt moved aside the baby pokemon let out a squeak and ran towards Devin. Her big lips were set on kissing the human as it was always the first thing she did to examine someone.

This situation seemed to get more and more strange by the second. Only seconds ago, the Snorunt had been frantically trying to hide something from Devin, and now the Smoochum was running up to him in a very affectionate manner. Although Devin was still focused on the Snorunt, he felt somewhat awkward as the Smoochum tried to kiss his right leg. Devin could only muster a short response saying, "Umm...it's nice to meet you too...I think."

After kissing Devin and hearing his greeting, the Smoochum squeaked happily again and ran back to the Snorunt. She gave the Snorunt a rather big hug before pointing up at Devin and babbling quickly. It was almost as if she was saying, ‘See! See! He’s really nice!’. With a heavy sigh the Snorunt patted the Smoochum before turning to look back up at Devin. She then took a few steps forward before bowing and saying “Sno unt unt” which meant, ‘A pleasure to meet you’.

It appeared that the Smoochum still seemed a bit hyper as it appeared to tell the Snorunt something in quite a quick and hyper manner, although Devin couldn't quite tell what it was. However, Snorunt's next course of action gave Devin a pretty good indication of what Smoochum had said, as the Snorunt walked up to Devin bowed, and apparently gave a greeting to Devin. Obviously, Devin felt obligated to return the favor and said, "It's nice to meet you too Snorunt, but what were you two doing just a few seconds ago." Devin was obviously referring to the odd behavior that the Snorunt and Smoochum had exhibited when he had first approached them

The Smoochum began to busy herself with playing in the snow while the Snorunt was talking to Devin. It seemed the baby pokemon had a rather short attention span.
"Sno sno un unt." The Snorun tried to explain to Devin. She pointed to the leaves she had dropped earlier and than to the spot under the porch that the Smoochum had come out of. She was trying to explain that she was making a warm nest under the steps to keep her and the Smoochum safe. "Snooo unt un sno." She continued as motioned towards the Smoochum before setting her hands on her chest. It seemed she loved this baby pokemon and wanted to be it guardian which was why it had been trying to get the Smoochum to stay in the nest. She didn't want the baby pokemon to get hurt.

That was so sweet! The Snorunt felt an obligation to protect this Snorunt and take care of it like its own child. Devin always liked to find people and Pokemon like that, who looked out for others for reasons other than expecting to get something out of it themselves. He always had a tremendous amount of respect for those types of people and Pokemon, and because of this, felt obligated to help them out. Acting on this notion he said to the Snorunt, "If you want, I could help you take care of this Smoochum. I'd imagine you'd like some of the pressure taken off of you."

The Snorunt put her thinking cap on as she thought about Devin’s offer. It was rather hard taking care of the Smoochum all on her own and it would be really nice to have help. Perhaps it wouldn’t be too bad of an idea to have the human help. Smoochum seemed to like him.
“Snorunt!” she finally replied with a smile and a nod. She was willing to let Devin help her take care of the Smoochum.

The only issue with taking care of the Smoochum was the fact that Devin couldn't stay in Dewpoint Town forever, and if Snorunt wanted to take him up on his offer the two Ice-types would have to come with him. Devin wondered if the two Pokemon would object to this, but Devin knew that he had to explain the situation nonetheless, "Unfortunately I can't stay here forever, but you don't have to either, you two can't honestly be happy living like this in such a hostile environment with no one else to look after you!" Devin the reached into his backpack and took two Pokeballs out. He then placed them on the ground right in front of his feet. He then said to the two Ice-types, "If you want to come with me, and leave this unforgiving place behind all you have to do is touch the circle at the center of these Pokeballs."

The Snorunt listened carefully to what Devin had to say and began to think about the offer went he pokeballs were set down in front of them. Perhaps with the human around they would be able to get food more often. If they got sick, the human could help make them feel better. Plus, they wouldn't have to worry about mean people stepping on them. It would defiantly be a much better environment for the Smoochum. But... would she understand?
The Snorunt turned to the Smoochum and waved her tiny arms to try and get the baby pokemon's attention. When the pokemon looked up the Snorunt began waving her hands wildly as she tried to explain to the baby pokemon that they needed to go into the pokeballs. Sadly the Smoochum just laughed and giggled at the Snorunt's silly motions. Letting out a sigh the Snorunt turned back to Devin and looked up at him sadly. She didn't know how to get the Baby pokemon to push the button.

Devin smiled at the Snorunt, as he picked up one of the Pokeballs and walked over towards Smoochum, leaving the other one next to the Snorunt. The Snorunt appeared to indicate that the Smoochum didn't know what to do with regard to the Pokeball, and so Devin decided to try and help out with this. Devin held the Pokeball out in front of the Smoochum, and very gently tapped the Pokeball on its head.

Still smiling rather largely the tiny Smoochum disappeared in a flash of bright light when the pokeball was tapped on her head. It was an instant capture and the pokeball made a small click sound to indicate this.
Name: Species: Smoochum Gender: Female Ability: Oblivious - Prevents infatuation and protects against Captivate. Personality: This baby pokemon is extremely young and still has a lot of growing to do. She is a very loving pokemon who is rarely temperamental. She loves getting attention from everyone she meets and makes friends easily. If not watched carefully she will end up wander off and getting lost. If she does start to wander off she can easily be called back by hearing her name. It seems to make her giggle and she run towards anyone who says it.
The Snorunt watched in amazement as the Smoochum was captured by the pokeball. Once she was certain the Smoochum was safe inside the pokeball she turned to the one Devin left for her and clicked the button. The flash of light zipped her inside the pokeball made another click sound.
Name: Species: Snorunt Gender: Female Ability: Inner Focus - Prevents flinching. Personality: This Snorunt has a very motherly like personality. She feels the need to take care of anyone she thinks needs her help. She will even try to help those who don't really need her help. The only being she doesn't normally mother is her trainer. For some reason she melts at the site of her trainer and allows them to be her care taker. She doesn't like battling much but will do so if she feels she must protect someone.
Suddenly a Delibird, with a completely black coloured body came dashing around the corner of one of the building. He was running towards Devin but suddenly stopped when he dropped some food out of his tail. With a bit of panic he quickly ran back and picked it up. Just as he was picking up the food a rather angry looking Froslass came around the corner. With an angry cry she opened her arms and quickly formed many sharp Ice Shards before shooting them towards the black Delibird. Jumping up the Delibird quickly dodged the attack and ran to hide behind Devin. Despite that the bird was trying to hide the Froslass got ready to aim another Ice Shard attack. This one would end up going straight for Devin too !
