Riku didn't wish to waste two Pokeballs not catching a Pokemon, so she waited to see if it moved. When it still didn't, she turned to Cookie again.
"Go see if it's awake.. if it's not, please use one more Reversal." Cookie went over to the other dog and nudged it with one paw before leaping back a little and taking a stance from which he could attack again if need be.

There was no need to have jumped back for the Electrike was indeed out cold laying there on the sand. It appeared that the attack had been enough to knock him out.

Cookie relaxed when he realized that the other canine was fainted and gave Riku the okay with a "yap!" The purple-eyed female smiled and tossed her second Pokeball at the Electrike, musing to herself about how useful a good electric-type could be.

The pokeball hit the Electrike and consumed him before falling to the ground and almost instantly dinging in capture.
Name: Species: Electrike Gender: Male Ability: Lightningrod Personality: Speedy and always in the mood to run, this Electrike loves being outdoors and in the fresh air. He detests his pokeball and believes it to be a strain on his freedom, but he will do what his trainer asks of him to do. He's rather overconfident in his own abilities and tends to strain himself to much.

Riku gladly pocketed the Pokeball; she liked canine Pokemon, so an Electrike was a wonderful addition to the team even though Angel had electric-type covered. She wondered if there were any more Pokemon nearby right then, but she didn't see anything.
"C'mon, Cookie, let's keep looking around.." she called to her Riolu, who barked and followed Riku back towards where they had started out.

There was nothing but endless sand at that point in time. As far as the eye could see, there appeared to be absolutely nothing. However, suddenly, something seemed to be coming up from the sandy ground. A Hippowdon rose upwards and roared out a yawn before starting to move through the sand.

Another Pokemon she'd like to catch. Riku was happy to see the hippopotamus Pokemon and sent Cookie to attack it. The Riolu barked again and ran at the Hippopotas as he awaited Riku's attack orders.
"Try a Force Palm, Cookie." Riku called to the Pokemon, who nodded and carried out his trainer's orders.

The Force Palm hit the Hippowdon but only moved her a few feet at most. Irritated by someone suddenly bothering her, the Hippowdon formed a Fire Fang and made to bite down on the Riolu with her large jaws.

Cookie gave a sharp, startled bark as the Fire Fang connected; it had hurt quite a bit! Lucky for Riku, though, her Riolu was tough.
"Now use Counter!" she said, glad for the opportunity to use such a lovely attack. It was always strong after a physical hit like that.

The Counter caused the Hippowdon to be forced back and caused her to twitch a bit. Shaking her head, the Hippowdon let out a Yawn at the Riolu trying to make it go to sleep so that she could go on with her way.

Try as he might, Cookie couldn't quite avoid the Yawn, and soon made a huge yawn of his own.
"..Crap. Um.. Cookie, use Reversal now! Try to make it count!" Riku knew her Pokemon would be asleep before long, but if he could use a Reversal in his slightly weakened state..

The reversal hit the Hippowdon and only seemed to enrage her then and there. Releasing a massive Earthquake, the Hippowdon roared in irritation and anger.

Cookie's drowsiness made it terribly difficult to dodge the attack, and so he was hit for the full damage. He happened to think to use Endure before he could be knocked out, however, which was lucky. Riku saw her final chance to get some damage in and was about to call out for one more Reversal, but... looking at Cookie, she realized that he was already on the verge of fainting. She didn't have any Potions, berries, or anything she could use to help him and regretted not stocking up before she came to train. Instead, she returned the tired Pokemon to his Pokeball and called on Angel, who was nearby and showed up almost instantly.
"Use Cotton Guard and Power Gem!" Riku called, and her Ampharos was happy to obey. She didn't want to let the wild Pokemon get away after so severely weakening her beloved Riolu, after all.

The Power Gem hit the Hippowdon and caused her to cry out again in irritation. Shaking her head violently, the wild pokemon refused to go down just yet. Releasing another Earthquake, the Hippowdon poured quite a lot of energy into it.

Before the Earthquake could become bad enough to cause damage, Angel used another Cotton Guard to up her Defense again. Though the attack was super effective, her improved defense helped her get through it.
"Good, Angel.. Now use Signal Beam." Riku was indeed impressed with her Pokemon's intuition.

Hit by the Signal Beam, the Hippowdon shook her head defiantly. She was taking on a lot of damage and fast, and she couldn't take much more and knew it. Releasing a Double-Edge in an effort to end things quickly, the Hippowdon twitched knowing the sheer recoil just might put her out.

Without waiting to see if it was indeed down or not, Riku tossed a Pokeball at it, crossing her fingers that it would be caught. A good Ground-type was always a welcome addition to her team, after all.

The pokeball sealed around the Hippowdon and seemed to hit the ground and shake several times before finally ringing in capture.
Name: Species: Hippowdon Gender: Female Ability: Sand Stream Personality: Rather stoic when showing any real emotion, this Hippowdon seems to shift rather slowly into any sort of aggression. However, when completely converted, she won't stop raging until she has fainted or is immobile. She actually has a very great love of sweet things and will often try and steal them from people whenever she gets the chance.
There didn't seem to be any other pokemon in the vicinity. However, a rather odd cactus seemed to be standing farther out... oh wait... was that a Cacnea? Oh why yes it was~

"Oh hey, a Cactau- I mean, Cacnea." Riku looked to Angel, who shrugged and walked towards the cactus Pokemon with Riku following behind. They waited to see if it would do anything and just sort of.. stared at it.
