Afton stared at the seemingly never ending hills of snow, eye's riveted on the dips and flows of the land. Everythign seemed to be a dark shade of blue aside from the highlights of white where the sharp moonlight reflected off the perfected surface of frost. The winds blew gently, the snow falling only softly. As the trainers eyes drifted up into the star flecked sky, he felt truely in the snowglobe of life, complete with a cozy little town, snuggled in their nest of blankets and warm fires.
By his side stood his Baffuron, a gift from his father. The headstrong buffalo pokemon came only about to the young man's chest, but it's sharp, deadly horns looked like the could easily gouge straight through Afton's core. It stamped at the frozen ground a bit impatiently, waiting to keep moving. However, it would be no use to voice these ideas. His trainer was almost entirely deaf, and wouldn't hear a bleat of the pokemon's protest.
Afton had not bothered to name his pokemon, for he would never be saying them anyway. All fighting was done solely by signals or on the pokemon's own whim. His golden eyes took one final look of the land, his long, gloved fingers stroking the pokemon by his side by it's smooth curved horn. Tugging gently at it, he led the pokemon in towards the town, without any intentions of going in. The trainer was there to explore, possibly find some pokemon for breeding, but never for human interactions.

Not far off, a Bibarel was laying lazily on the ground and almost seemed to oddly blend in with her surroundings. She could easily be passed up if one was not looking carefully.

As the pair walked, the trainers eyes were riveted upon the cozy little town they approached. The breath that streamed from his pokemon's nostril's could be seen clearly, the vapor disappearing in a cloud. Afton stepped lightly, his boots hardly crunching into the snow, their soft pat completely inauduble to himself and anyone else around. His Baffuron remained calm and docile, allowing himself to be lead along until his fore hoof kicked something. Looking down with a blank expression, the buffalo pokemon didn't even seem to know what he was staring at until he saw the gleaming teeth and eyes, the only thing that stood out against the frozen earth. The large pokemon spooked, taking a few quick steps back and throwing his horns around. Afton merely looked at his pokemon with surprise, eyebrows arched in confusion.

The Bibarel blinked and sat up fully now as she heard something that didn't seem to pass her on contact which worried her slightly. Stopping and turning her head to one side, the Bibarel stared at the man and his pokemon wondering what he was doing there.

Seeing the pokemon rise up out of seemingly nowhere, Afton blinked his puzzlement. His Baffuron, however, was now eager to get out of there. Catching his trainer between his horns, he directed the lanky blonde in a different direction, herding him closer to the town and away from those staring eyes and gleaming teeth.
Afton at first pointed out his protest, but eventually just let the pokemon drive him along. It was good not to be in charge sometimes. Instead, he stared at the stars, trying to identify the contstellations he found there.

The Bibarel blinked and then leaned back into a relaxed position and going back to a light dozing. Far above the man and his pokemon, a flock of wingull were flying rather calmly in the sky, and they cast light shadows down on the ground below.

Afton watched the silhouettes of the birds blot out the light of the stars; eyes trailing after them till they were far away. He was prepared for the southern reaches of Era, his entire body clothed in thick and comfortable clothing. His socks knitted and woolen, boots tied up his shins. His pant legs and coat were goose skin, the downy feathers turned inside and the water proofing used to deflect the falling snow. His long hair was beginning to get wet, but he left it as it was. The Baffuron beside him seemed to not notice the weather at all, his shaggy winter coat had begun to grow in.

Suddenly something came charging towards the man in the snow. A Meowth darted faster and faster and nearly ran straight into the man as though he had not been looking where he was going.

Afton's head whipped towards movement as something kicked up snow along their hill. His vision piecred through the night's haze, catching the gleam of a coin upon a golden furred head. A Meowth! One of the few pokemon Afton did recognize. He wanted it, something he could recognize and feel comfortable with in this strange and harsh world. Without turning to look at his Baffuron, he snapped his fingers, and the pokemon charged forward.
It's horns lowered, the moonlight shone of their sharpened points. When the Meowth came barrelling closer, it swung it's great afro'd head. Those sharp points were thrust forward, trying to catch the cat in it's Megahorn attack.

The Meowth was hit directly by the Megahorn and thrown back into the snow. He appeared to be in shock for a moment as he wondered what had hit him. After a few seconds, he caught sight of the buffalo pokemon and seemed to get the idea. "Nyath!" he called out forming a Pay Day and shooting it towards the other pokemon. Coins exploded everywhere at once.

The Baffuron seemed udderly bewildered as golden coins exploded out of the pokemon, showering down and around in the snow like gleaming stars, fallen at their feet. Afton leaned and picked a few up, eying them with a shine of wonder in his eye. Could this pokemon produce legitamit currency? He glanced back up towards the little cat, forming all sorts of new plans he could do with it. His golden gaze switched back over to the Baffuron, who was still staring wide-eyed at the fact that the attack had actually just happened. It shook it's head, regaining some composure, then charged forth. It's attack was called Afro Break, and used it's poofy mane to inflict high amounts of damage to it's foe.

Hit by the Afro Break, the Meowth was bashed hard by the attack and sent flying through the air to land in the snow not too far off. Groaning in pain, the cat managed to force himself up for a good thirty seconds before falling back down again.

Afton couldn't help but smile, and ran over to his Baffuron. His blonde hair streamed out behind him like a flag as he threw his arms around the great buffalo's neck. The pokemon wasn't quite sure to make of the situation, so just stood there and took it. This was their first true battle together, and he must've done well to illicit such a reaction from a so far completely dull man.
The trainer turned on a heel, gloved hand digging into his pocket for a tiny orb. He found it, tapping the button at it's center and watched as it rapidly expanded in his palm. His golden eyes flickered up at the little cat, feeling an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. A new friend, ally, subject! Somehow, the liuttle cat would be fitting into all of these categories. A stream of red light shot out from the pokeball, enveloping the Meowth, and transporting it into it's recesses. Would it remain caught, or had it faked such an easy win?

The pokeball consumed the Meowth and drew the cat pokemon inwards. In a few seconds it dinged in capture.
Name: Species: Meowth Gender: Male Ability: Technician Personality: Gentle but speedy, this Meowth tends to like to run on a daily basis and loves to exert his muscular power. He's neither weak not exceptionally strong at this point, but with some training, he'll get stronger. His favorite attack is Pay Day which he uses whenever possible.
Not far off, a small creature could be seen. A Cyndaquil was walking on her two hind legs and carrying what appeared to be a large pile of fire wood with her.

Afton dropped the pokeball back into his pocket, satisfied with his first catch. Leaning down to pick up the few scattered coins the Meowth had left, his eyes caught the sharp, unnatural light nearby. Unlike the glowing delicacy of the moonlight or the stars, there was the brightness of flame, giving a harsh quality to whatever it illuminated. Afton was unfamiliar with the pokemon, so fished out the worn out guide, stuffed with ntoes and pages, that his father had left him. Flipping through the fire type tab, he came upon the Cyndaquil, reading up on it. It didn't sound like a pokemon he would spectacularly love, but it might come in handy for other reasons.
His eyes turned away from the light, and back to his pokemon. The buffalo had long since taken notice of the Cyndaquil, and was watching it with wariness. Afton made a motion for him to go over to it, but not attack, not yet at least. The great pokemon strode over, lowering his horns in greeting as he spoke. Need a hand carrying that?

The Cyndaquil nearly jumped in surprise at the other pokemon being there but quickly re-cooperated and smiled a bit. <That would be lovely, thank you, She answered back raising up her arms and the pile of wood with her as though trying to set it on the buffalo pokemon. <Lovely night isn't it?> she chimed rather lightly.

The buffalo took the wood pile up, and using his horns, worked them back behind his head. He nodded lightly to the Cyndaquil's words, remembering how Afton seemed completely entranced by the clear night sky, spiraling down with snow. Remembering his trainer, he glanced over to where he was still concealed by shadow, wondering just how this was supposed to work out in their favor.

<I was about to start a bonfire up on the hill over there> the Cyndaquil explained as she started to walk up said hill. <It's really chilly right now hah>

The pokemon nodded quietly again, eyes still flickering over to his trainer. It looked like he was doing something, but he couldn't tell what. In the darkness, the bull pokemon's eye sight wasn't the greatest. A dark shape swooped overhead, blotting out the moon's light for a moment. Baffuron's eyes followed it's shadow along the snow, a shiver running along his spine. He glanced back over at the Cyndaquil, glad he wasn't the one who had to do the dirty work.
The Pidgeot's screams filled the quiet night, it's talons outstretched as it dove down, then flared it's wings to keep from plowing into the little fire type. It's wings beat down again, trying to buffet the little pokemon with a Wing Attack. Afton still remained out of sight, but he could see the battle well enough from the bottom of the hill. The caustic pokemon hadn't taken much convincing to attack.

The Cyndaquil had not been ready for the flying pokemon and took the full damage of the Wing Attack and being sent flying through the air and into the snow not far down. All that could be seen of the little fire type was her back legs flailing in the air while the rest of her was buried in the snow.
