INTO THE GORGE (RILEY/MOD)

[Jay]

Not far off, a Donphan was sleeping in the rocks and didn't even seem to notice that there was a human around. He was a ground type and therefore didn't even feel the electricity in the air.

[VEGETA]

"Sparky hit those rocks!" said Zack encouragingly as he moved off to the side. Sparky charged at the rocks but right as she was about to hit them the Volt tackle cancelled. She hit the rocks making a pretty loud sound. "It's alright Sparky!" he said moving over completely unaware of the Donphan. "We'll just try again!"

[Jay]

The sound awakened the Donphan and blinked in confusion at the sound wondering what was going on. Looking around, the ground type eventually caught sight of Sparky before shaking his head and relaxing again. He wasn't too worried of the pokemon and went back to sleep.

[VEGETA]

"Alright Sparky! One more time..Volt Tackle!" Sparky began to charge at the rocks and this time the Volt Tackle was working and Sparky smashed into the rocks sending chunks of them flying everywhere including near the Donphan.

[Jay]

The Donphan was hit by one of the rocks and found himself loosing patients with the electrical pokemon rather quickly. <Stop that> was a sudden call from said Donphan in his native language that, to humans, sounded more like several shouts of 'don' and 'phan' rather than anything else.

[VEGETA]

"Great job Sparky!" said Zack jumping up and down "You're getting pretty good at Volt Tackle so it's time for someone else to have a shot. Return!" <But Zack there's a pokemon her-> Sparky didn't get a chance to finish as she was sucked into the ball. "Alright let's go Grove!" Zack tossed out Grove's pokeball and she stood there waiting for a command. "Now try Leaf Blade on those rocks!" said Zack blissfully unaware of the Donphan that was behind them.

[Jay]

The Donphan mentally swore to himself but settled again. If they would continue to harass him, he'd speak up, but if they at least tried to stay away then, well... that was fine, heh. However, as the Leaf Blade hit the rocks, the rocks themselves went flying at the Donphan and hit him. Oh for Arceus's sake! <ENOUGH!> he shouted.

[VEGETA]

"Ooooh! A Donphan!" said Zack excitedly "Hey Donphan! How does a battle sound?" he called out to it. Zack had seen a Donphan before and knew they were very powerful pokemon.

[Jay]

The Donphan blinked and stared at Zack for a few minutes mentally face/palming at the boy before he finally sighed outwards and nodded. If it would make them quieter after this, he'd take a battle and then get back to his nap, hopefully. Deciding to be honorable in an odd sense, he allowed the boy to make the first move.

[VEGETA]

The Donphan seemed to brace himself for battle and when he didn't make a move Zack figured it was his turn to go. "Okay Grove use Leaf Blade!" Grove ran forwards towards the Donphan and attempted to hit him with it.

[Jay]

The Donphan formed into a sudden tight Defense Curl and took the Leaf Blade before suddenly forming into a Rollout and rolling now towards the Gorvyle. He wasn't going to go down just because of the type match up... well as far as he was concerned, heh.

[VEGETA]

"Grove dodge it!" commanded Zack as the Rollout picked up speed. Grove tried to move out of the way but it was too fast and she ended up getting hit by the Rollout. She flew backwards and hit a rock.

"Alright Grove use Grass Knot in front of you and then Energy Ball on the Donphan!" Two leaves grew out of the ground and formed a tight knot in front of Grove. Grove then procedded to charge up an Energy Ball and fired it towards Donphan.

[Jay]

The Grass Knot hit the Donphan, yet the rolling pokemon only seemed to fly up into the air for a moment before hitting the ground again continuing to roll. The Energy Ball was much the same barely seeming to faze the large spherical pokemon as he was in this rolling state (though in truth, damage was taken, yet the Donphan wasn't going to begin to show this, heh).

[VEGETA]

"Wow" was all the Zack managed to say "He's really strong.." Zack was amazed at the power this Donphan was displaying "But...Grove is stronger! Grove use Solarbeam!" Grove began to suck in energy from the sun into the leaf of it's head. The Donphan was getting closer but Grove wasn't ready...it was going to be a close call..

[Jay]

The Donphan continued to spin forwards and made to hit the Grovyle with the power that he was holding onto. Even when the grass type powered up for such a powerful attack, he didn't even seem to worry and continued charging fully.

[VEGETA]

Grove was about to fire the Solarbeam when she was hit by the Rollout which had much more power than before. It knocked her into one of the gorge "walls" and accidentaly made her fire the Solarbeam into the air. It hit the edge of the wall and rocks began raining down everywhere.

Grove was knocked unconcious and just layed there motionless. There were rocks headed for her and Donphan so Zack quickly took out her pokeball and returned her to it. "Donphan get out of the way!" yelled Zack as he ran over and aimed to block the rocks from hitting Donphan. He would either be pummeled with rocks or hit by the Rollout but if meant protecting the Donphan...he was ready for it.

[Jay]

The Donphan mentally face/palmed when he caught sight of the human running towards him. <No you!> he called back before suddenly throwing himself towards the rocks in order to block them from hitting the human. The rocks bounced off the large pokemon, and he flinched with each hit, yet after a few more seconds, it stopped. Breathing outwards, the Donphan shook his head sharply and then looked towards Zack all but worriedly.

[VEGETA]

"Are you alright Donphan!?!" said Zack equally worried as he ran to meet him. He looked at where the Donphan had been hit by the rocks and went into his bag. He kneeled down and managed to find a berry plus some bandages. "I'm sorry we attacked you Donphan...you didn't need to go to such lengths to protect me" he began to bandage up the pokemon and placed the berry in front of him.

[Jay]

At first the Donphan was a tad wary of the human's antics even if he had just protected him. However, after a moment more, the large creature simply nodded quietly understanding that he wasn't going to be harmed. "Don," was the only answer from the Donphan which consisted of something along the lines of 'it's fine' for lack of a direct translation.

[VEGETA]

Zack put the last bandage on the Donphan and after he finished he stood up. He lightly patted Donphan on the head and put the extra stuff back in his bag. "Well I'll be going now." he said waving to the Donphan "Still have alot more training to do...sorry for bothering you Donphan!" Zack began to jog away from the ground type pokemon hoping to do some more training.
