Shinji looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure? I promise I won't let you forget this time." He said, and then took a swig of the vodka. He then offered it to Nicki.

[Nicodemus]

Nicodemus gulped, "The first move you make that I don't like, I'm punching your jaw clean off your face." An empty threat, but she would fight. She'd fight anything to get away right now. But she needed a drink. Vodka, water, it didn't matter. Something to settle her parched throat.

She took the bottle skittishly, her hands shaking. She took a simple sip, her mind easing immediately. She didn't feel quite so lightheaded, and she felt a little more grounded to earth. She sat upon a rock about three feet away. She took another swig, eyeing Shinji. Well, at least she had good taste when she was drunk. "So.... Where you from?"

"Well, I'm from Era. You?" Shinji asked her, trying to make conversation.

[Nicodemus]

Nicki considered it. Era? Place of the nobles, not that she gave a damn. Nobles, not nobles, didn't matter to her. She was neither. She looked up at Shinji, about to reply to the question when she felt her eyes fall. The rain felt a lot colder now, harder, painful. Home. Back with her family. "Don't matter."

Shinji looked back at her, then looked down at his feet. He realized he had just touched a tender spot. He then smiled at her and said, so you never did tell me what you were doing down here.

[Nicodemus]

Nicki shrugged again, "I don't even know what I'm doing down here. It just seemed nice. Peaceful. And I needed somewhere to stay for the night, so I just stayed." What else was she to say? She couldn't find the strength to lie, to keep dodging the truth. Perhaps she could trust him, perhaps he wouldn't try to use her, try to mug her or something. That'd nice. She wiped the rain from her arm, rubbing her shoulder where it was most tender. She'd shoved it against a rock earlier when she tripped, and now it hurt like hell.

Shinji, heard Nicki's reasoning, then nodded. He looked back at her, and gestured at the bottle then took it, and had a drink. After he was finished, he handed it back to her. "So, uh, you like sleeping outside and stuff?"

The girl didn't complain when the boy took the vodka away, she was more content that he had control over it. She wouldn't get drunk then, she wouldn't loose control and go overboard. She was too proud to ask for anything, and for once, it finally helped her.

At Shinji's reply, she stifled a laugh. If only he knew. She rolled her shoulder blades, trying to ease the tension in her injured muscle, only causing pain she wouldn't show. "I do what I have to," she said simply, digging inside her bag for something to eat. Maybe there was an apple or something she'd forgotten about.

Nothing. She sank back down the rock, her back against the cold stone, rain washing over her as she slumped in disappointment. It was going to be a long night. "Where you headed?"

Shinji replied, "Nowhere. Not until my Dad passes off the company to me at least." Then he rummaged through his bag. He was kinda hungry, and found two sandwiches. He started to eat one, and offered the other to Nicki. Maybe she was hungry too.

Huh. Nicodemus frowned. How long would she be stuck with this guy? Would he keep following her around? Maybe he'd loose interest. Come on luck, I need ya.

Something must have heard her, because Shinji at that very moment pulled out sandwiches. Food. Her belly rumbled agrilly, furious for it's empty state. She stared at it, unsure of whether to take it or not. She already owed him for the booze. Nicki hated being in debt, she had no way to make it up. What if he used that as leverage?

Her stomach got the best of her, and she felt her pride die a little inside as she warily took the food from Shinji's open hand. A pet. She was becoming a tame pet. Nicki practically growled at herself, "Great."

Shinji heard Nicki mutter, then said, "Look, if this is too much, I'll leave. But I need somewhere to stay tonight, so is it okay if I stay here?"

[Nicodemus]

Nicodemus cringed. Of course she wanted him gone, but she had to kick herself to say no. He had every right to be here, and she wasn't one to take away rights. Her life was restricting enough. She forced a bite of the sandwich, her belly doing somersaults with pure joy. Too bad she felt sick.

She shook her head, "You can do whatever you want to, I'm not about to tell you you can't. It's not right." She laid the food down, not hungry anymore. Her belly filled up too fast when she didn't eat in a while. A simple cracker would have done.

Shinji looked at her put down the food, then he finished his sandwich. He layed down, and closed hjis eyes, hoping for sleep. "Alright then, good night." He said, then waited for sleep to come.

Nicki looked over at the kid, already tucking himself in for a night of rest beneath the stormy skies. Was he high? He was going to catch pneumonia if he stayed out here, even she knew that. It was one of the first things her mother taught her.

She sighed, looking over at the spot she was planning to sleep, within a small cave cut into rock. She'd already checked it, nothing but rocks. "Get up, you idiot. There's no way you're sleeping out here."

Shinji opened one of his eyes and looked at her, then said, "Well you don't want me to sleep with you do you?" He asked then stood up, and rolled up the tarp. "If you insist." He said, then walked over to the cave.

The girl sighed, finally shaking her head to clear the fog. She had to leave soon. Maybe she'd find shelter some where else nearby. It wasn't too dark, she could probably find something before twilight ended. The storm wasn't letting up for another couple of hours though, so she'd be soaked for the rest of the night at least. And that would lead to pneumonia if she wasn't lucky. She didn't get to where she was on luck.

She stared a little longer, her eyes glued onto the rising tide. Night was definitely upon them. It was either that or suffer a night with that kid.

Shinji walked over to the cave then set up the tarp so that no rain would blow in, then he layed down and went to sleep.

The girl growled at herself, her temper beginning to slip. She was now stuck with a teenage boy, in a cave, who she apparently knew and did who know's what with him, a full bottle of vodka just begging to be downed, soaking clothes, no fire, no change of clothes, no food, no water, and, she noticed as she looked back down at her food, a soggy sandwich. She was so ready to punch something, anything. Get over it, you brat. Nicki shook her own head, setting her mind on getting out of the rain. As much as she liked it, she couldn't be out in the falling water. Not if she wanted to stay healthy.

Ducking under the rock, she found the cave was small, just barely big enough for the two of them. Thankfully, Nicki noted, that kid Shinji was already asleep, so she was free to do what she pleased. She found things were so much simpler when she could just do what she wanted. She sat against the cave entrance, leaning against the stone, the rock biting into her cheek as she pressed against it, but she couldn't be bothered to care, lightning striking the sky ahead of her. Still, it couldn't be helped that she was cold. Taking a peek inside her bag, she found her blanket, but she didn't want to use it. She was still soaking wet, and getting her blanket wouldn't fix anything.

The girl peeled off her jacket, rubbing her water-slicked arms down, trying to get some heat back into them. "Damn it all," she muttered under her breath, desperate to find clothes she knew weren't in her bag. If only she bothered to steal something she actually needed.

Shinji rolled over and saw Nicki being cold, with no other clothes. If only he had some. "You can use some of mine if you'd like. I've got some extras in my bag. DRY extras." He said. He then reached for the Vodka and took a swig, ignoring the taste in his mouth. "You know, I've always wondered what it would be like to spend the night in a cave...." Shinji said.

Nicki almost grimaced at the sound of Shinji's voice. Almost. She shivered a bit, looking back at him, who lay under a tarp, sipping vodka as he offered her some of his clothes, or at least she assumed clothes. She thought it over. They were dry. They'd be too big. And they'd be boyish and probably wouldn't match. "You're on." She grinned, excited. Warmth! So close! She didn't hesitate to go through his bag, ignoring anything not made of cotton. The teenager tactfully avoided any undergarments and pulled out a t-shirt that would be huge on her, and a pair of jeans, and even grabbed a pair of white cotton socks. Fresh socks. How appealing.

She scurried to the back of the cave, hidden in the shadows, strategically hiding herself from Shin so she could change in peace without having to watch her back for a Peeping Tom. She stripped down, leaving only her bra and underwear on and practically jumped into her new clean, dry clothes. The socks were a bit itchy, but she'd get used to them. She pulled her hair out from under the shirt, letting it fall limp against her back, and took her clothes back to the front, replying to Shinji, "It's not all that great. Just a bit of rocks everywhere, ya know? Gets cold too easy and it's wet. All the time. 'Course they're fun in the summer."

She sat back down at the mouth of the cave, taking out her blanket from her bag, confident now that she wouldn't soak it with her damp clothes, and wrapped up in the big gray sheet of cotton, reveling in it's warmth. She wasn't tired yet, but she would be. Or at least, she should be.
