The previous rain that had drenched the Monastery a ways back was possibly only a warning sign seeing as dark clouds still sat on the horizon. However, at the moment, this didn't seem to worry or even be acknowledged by Indiana Indigo.
They'd finally reached Wharfenfair after quite a good trek, and though he was technically missing an eye at that moment, Indi was taking in all the sights he could as they finally stepped into the actual city itself. The red haired man looked something like a cat watching a fly as his head moved in various patterns within seconds. "Wow this is rather impressive, indeed," Indi commented aloud though probably more to himself, really. "I was starting to get the impression everything here was old, hah." Ah yes, probably not the best wording of the moment, but that was Indi's excited presence for you. [/scrolly] |

"I haven't been here too long, but I can assure you that most cities are actually quite modern. Some even moreso than this, possibly." Particularly the capital, but she didn't think it would be a good time to mention such a thing. After all, that was a good distance away and she didn't really want to be leading him there today. After a long moment, she took a deep breath and smiled.
"Let's go look around. Maybe there's somewhere that we can rent fishing poles from, just for fun!" She doubted either of them were exactly expert fishermen, but she thought it would keep them busy for a little while. But then... "Oh, wait... We're not really here just for fun, are we?" Looking a little thoughtful, she gave a quiet hum. What was the original reason they'd come here? [/scrolly] |

Fishing. Indi hadn't been fishing....ever, but a certain Dr. Samuel Ivan Indigo had disowned it as a sport. The old man obviously preferred it football and violent nasty sports to which he could then patch up the players who had trashed and wrecked their forms in the process of playing. That was also probably why he praised Ivan as much as he did when Indi thought about it that way... 'Oh good going son! You just beat the living skin off of that guy in football! Great job!' The words were practically making Indi sick, and he was now fighting them off in order to preserve what little sanity he had on that argument. He respected Ivan for being as muscular and as militarized as he was, but that didn't mean he had to like the fact that it was quite a bit of the core of what his father valued among men /_-...... Anyways~
Blinking a moment and finding himself suddenly chuckling at his father's words on the subject, Indi put his hands behind his head and slowly smirked. "That sounds like fun," he commented after a moment. As Ruka reminded him that they had technically come there fore a different reason, Indi blinked a moment trying to---oh yeah. "I was going to look into buying a map and things... that's right," he laughed after a moment. "But I don't see why we can't have fun too." [/scrolly] |

"Oh, of course, but best to get the work done so we can enjoy the fun without worry, right?" Looking around, she hummed. Where might a convenience store be? Surely that kind of store would carry maps. Or...
"What do you think of splitting up and meeting back up at the docks? I know there are a lot of docks... but we can have our Pokemon help look for each other," she suggested. The woman would probably go find rods to rent and then possibly look around a little for souvenirs or something, but she'd mostly just focus on looking for Pokemon, likely. [/scrolly] |

Well that seemed reasonable enough. He was pretty sure that he could find some sort of store on his own now that he actually had a town to be in. Nodding a bit at Ruka, Indi looked off towards one of the buildings and seemed to bring a hand to his chin. Looking back again quickly, the redhead nodded. "That works~" he answered back lightly. "See ya in a bit," he stated aloud rather confidently for all his lack of knowledge of the area before taking a few steps in one direction, stopping, looking back at Ruka, grinning, and then starting forwards again. Waving a hand backwards as though as an after thought, Indi put it down after a moment and focused on the building he had been looking at Alright. Let's see... This couldn't be too hard.
Wandering into one of the shops, he began to go through what there was to see. The store clerk must have thought Indi a tad odd as the red haired man inspected things like one who was inspecting ancient Egyptian art with a quiet but easily excited notion. After a bit, he managed to find a map. Though at first the clerk wouldn't take the money that had been held up, after an exchange of words on money and what not, the clerk finally took the money, and Indi had his map. He ended up wandering into the shop next door and went through several more different items here and there that caught his attention. After a bit, and after considerable coins changed hands both willing and unwilling considering Usaran coins were seventy-five percent silver and therefore rather valuable if not exactly the currency of this new obscure country, Indi walked out of the shops with more items than he had walked in with.
After that, he began to make the trek towards the doc... or to what he thought was the dock, anyways. Hell if Indi knew where he was going anymore, really. [/scrolly] |

She had all she needed, really, so she was going straight to where she might find some fishing rods and bait. Once she found such a place, she happily rented two poles and enough bait -- the vendor assured her -- to last the two about an hour, maybe up to two if the fishing was slow. Then, she'd let four of her Pokemon go looking for Indi. Lady, Akito, Shade, and Kira all went about searching for the man, each holding their Pokeball so that no one would think they were wild. Waving back at him, she walked over and actually took his hand. This way they wouldn't get separated, she'd decided. So, she quickly started leading him back toward the docks while sending out little pulses of psychic energy to tell the others she'd found him.
Soon enough, they made it to their destination and it seemed Kira had already made it back before them. He was sitting beside Ruka, who already had her line cast. The Mienfoo was holding the other rod, which already had some bait at the end, but he was just sort of... staring at it. That is, until he felt Lady's approach. Looking up, he promptly wielded the rod at Indi. "Kira, be careful with that, please... Welcome back," she then offered to the man with a smile. [/scrolly] |

As his hand was taken, the red haired man slowly followed after the humanoid-pokemon only then realizing just how humanoid she looked due to the proximity at which he was now looking. And here I thought the closest things were...ah what did Luana say...heh primates? Bet she'd flip at seeing these creatures... Indi didn't quite know how right he was in that thought. Upon finally coming to Ruka and her pokemon, Indi smiled a little...only to find himself slightly dodging a poll that could have side-swipped him. A nervous laugh escaped from Indi, yet after a moment, he looked towards Ruka. "Thanks," he chuckled after a moment before slowly taking the rod into his hands. In all honesty, Indi had ... well... couldn't remember a time he had actually used one of the simple rods and found himself looking over it rather interested. "Let'see...." he said slowly turning the rod around and grabbing it more or less correctly. "Caught anything yet?" he asked looking towards Ruka for a moment.

Lady hummed thoughtfully, which prompted the woman to turn her head. "If you could keep an eye out for Shade and Akito? They haven't gotten back yet. I assume Kira reacted so quickly to those waves because of type," she observed offhandedly. Lady nodded and turned to look over the city, letting more little pulses of psychic energy release from her, although now very few and far between.
Ruka returned her attention to the man with a soft giggle. "I actually did happen to catch one regular fish, which sort of surprised me. I sort of thought Pokemon would be more attracted to this bait. But besides that, no. I just released that one," she explained and looked out over the water. "It's so pretty. I mean, many places are gorgeous but just open water like this is pretty amazing. It would look more impressive, to me, if the boats weren't so plentiful but..." she shrugged, letting the thought trail away. [/scrolly] |

"Well isn't that the actual fun of fishing" he asked with a light tease. The thought of fishing up pokemon only came to mind after this, and upon realizing this, Indi blinked and simply laughed that much more.
As Ruka spoke about the water, Indi slowly looked towards the water. "The water is pretty great...always has a life of its own," he agreed. "Ya know... I just realized I never really worked on boats before." Indi laughed a little. After a moment, a hand reached to a pocket and Indi pulled out a cigarette and brought it up to his lips before slowly pulling out a lighter as well. Out of the magic that was luck, the lighter lit the first time, and a stream of smoke escaped into the air. "I guess I never really needed to make a boat or anything before.... I once worked on a plane though," he thought aloud with a cheesy smile.

Well, yeah, actually... it was. After a moment, she gave a faint, nervous giggle and shook her head. "You're right. I guess... I'm just so used to Pokemon that seeing an animal is almost bizarre to me," she admitted a bit bashfully. When he went on to comment on never having worked on boats before, she looked a bit surprised. At first, she assumed he meant literally working aboard a boat. Neither had she! Was that... really such a shock?
Absent-mindedly, she watched him light the cigarette and only after staring as the smoke lifted from his lips did she realize she was doing so. Quickly turning her attention back to the water and her fishing line, she fidgeted a bit. Almost immediately, she had deemed it appropriate to blame it on tiredness but only -- only -- if he noticed and commented on it. As he comments on working on a plane, then, she blinked but kept her gaze averted. She was, after all, pretty red in the face. "Ah! So, by 'work on' you meant... I was not thinking that's what you meant. That's... pretty impressive," she mentioned, looking rather surprised... both at herself and at his apparent career. [/scrolly] |

"I'm so used to seeing animals back home that I don't really think of pokemon first even now," he explained finishing his lighting and then actually going back to figuring out how to cast. He didn't notice Ruka's motions mostly because his own distraction and therefore didn't ask. Upon making the motion, he watched as the line went out not too far off into the water but hat appeared like just enough. Heh now I gotta wait right? was the mental thought.
As Ruka spoke, Indi looked sideways at her again. "Ah, yeah... I'm a mechanic back home..." he explained trying to remember if he had said that earlier in the day. Now that he thought about it, Indi was unsure. "Most of the time I worked on people though... savin' lives with science..." he grinned a little thinking that over. At one time, he had never thought the aspect of saving lives would outgrow his dream of simply improving humanity through mechanics, but over time, a bit of his heart had turned here and there. He still loved mechanicals but...eh... who knew.... [/scrolly] |

"I was always under the impression Pokemon were everywhere. I guess I should have paid more attention to geography class or something," she murmured and chuckled softly. At the mention of saving lives, she blinked. Maybe they had talked about this... but she'd already forgotten most of what they'd talked about.
Or rather, she was just having a hard time remembering what was said while at the monastery because of the situation that had happened there. Plus, now she was trying to figure out what she was thinking to stare at him the way she had. Either way, she smiled. "Saving lives, huh? Geez, makes me feel like I went to school for the wrong thing." She giggled softly, shaking her head a little bit as she stared out at her fishing line. Occasionally, she tugged at it but otherwise just let it sit patiently.
Eventually, Shade came back, followed a little after by Akito. The latter was quick to return to his Pokeball, which the Golett promptly delivered to Ruka. Lady also returned to her Pokeball, but both Kira and Shade had apparently decided to stay out, which the woman didn't seem to have any argument against.[/scrolly] |

"I'd heard about them here and there but never enough to really believe they existed," he admitted after a moment as a quiet laugh came to him. As Ruka spoke about school, Indi breathed out a little causing a ring of smoke to rush up and away. "We're all meant to do different work," he stated though his thoughts moved on to the mechanicals themselves for a moment. He'd created them, yes, but what was their work again? They were made because... because he loved science and because at the time he hated humans so much... but that didn't explain-- Indi put the thoughts away for later knowing that if he strayed too long on them again, he would only depress and stress himself. "What did you go to school for?" the red haired man asked after a moment as his interest perked a little. He assumed she meant some sort of college major or something but who knew with the odd ways that seemed to exist here in Era. [/scrolly] |

Well, at least it wasn't as though he'd grown up without stories about them or something... At his comment, she looked over at him and blinked somewhat. All meant to do different work, huh? Looking thoughtful on that herself, she gazed out at the horizon, more looking at the sky than water this time. She did several different things... It made her wonder if she was putting too much on her plate. Was there something specific she should be doing and yet wasn't in favor of her own wild dreams?
Hearing his question, she dragged herself out of her thoughts and refocused on the fishing line. "Um... Well, I never went to a traditional college. I stayed home to help my parents with their ranch while my brothers went to college. I liked it, of course... Only when I really thought about the fact I couldn't stay with my parents forever did I start learning how to DJ. But... DJing is almost more of a hobby for a beginner, so my grandparents helped me with the money to get a certificate as a masseuse. It only took about a year and a half to earn it. Nothing like actual college, but... I'm kind of glad I did it. Music and massage are two ways to soothe so I'm helping people, too. Just a very different way than, say, a doctor." Actually saying it aloud made her feel much better about it and she quietly smiled at this. [/scrolly] |

So she grew up on a ranch of sorts? The only thing that came to mind when Ruka said that was cowboys and Indians -or Indianas? The sudden image of masses of clones of himself dressed in Indian wear and wielding long bows with rock-tipped arrows came to mind) that were once known to be a historical aspect of Usara.
The explanations that followed slowly forced a half-grin of sorts onto Indi's face. A DJ and a masseuse? It was quite an interesting combination, but if it worked for her, then it worked. "Pretty interestin' mix," the red haired man said as he pulled the cigarette from his mouth for a brief moment and exhaled. For a moment, green eyes scanned over the water waiting for some sort of fish to take the bait before they moved back towards Ruka.
"Heh, from the bit I've heard about Era, people need some soothing," he said after a brief moment. "So you're in high demand," he grinned a little looking sideways at Ruka. "Over here, it feels like I don't really have anything to do anymore... both kinda nice but ....discouraging," he sighed a little shrugging.

Yup, it definitely was. Mix Pokemon breeding in there and it was really strange. The comment on people needing soothing got a grin, but the following comment made her blush profusely. "Ah, er, well... I... I guess, yeah," she mumbles bashfully. Truthfully, she did have quite a few appointments but they usually kept her busy for a couple days out of the week and then she had free time.
His last comment mostly brought her back to her senses and she gulped faintly. "Well, if you don't mind my asking... Why did you come here? I'm sorry if you already told me that. It seems my memory has been running away from me. I'm sure there might be some things you can help with around Era... if you wanted to, of course. I... um, I'm not really sure where, of course, but I could help you look for odd jobs to do if you got bored?" As Ruka continued, Indi had to fight off the urge to sigh. It wasn't at her, really. His entire predicament was pretty sigh worthy. "I actually... kinda crash landed here," he answered back laughing a little more and rubbing the back of his head with his free hand. "Yeah... "Part of me wants to go home and finish what I started back there, but this entire place is so... strange I kinda want to stay and figure it all out." A laugh followed.

It was like a story book. Y'know, where an alien or something landed on Earth, was found by a family (or scientists, but those stories were usually less... nice) and taken care of as their own only to be 'beamed' up by its true family-- anyway...
"Figure it all out, huh? Well, there's something of a civil war going on. Era is a monarchy, you see. The main royal family is commonly presumed dead. There still seem to be other royal families in each of the cardinal regions. Some of them seem to be in turmoil and don't really make themselves known, though. Mostly to protect their families, I would think. There's where you are now, a part of Era known as the Western Waters. Obviously... because it's the coastal region, but there's also a large lake on the eastern side of it. There's here, which is, I think, the southernmost place; Orion City, where I live, farther north up the cost; Escapade City is on the other side of the lake I mentioned; um... I think I heard there's an abandoned zoo somewhere. Maybe it's on the map. You can always come to Orion with me, of course, if you like," she offered. [/scrolly] |
