Flare had always wanted to come out to the volcano in the desert, ever since Jaxa had told him they were out in the wastelands, but his trainer wasn't the sort to go to places that were as hot as Flare, or hotter. The canine sniffing about the trees as he'd made it closer and closer to the volcano. The fire dog was quite excited to see the lava, something Jaxa had only shown the canine pictures of, and explained the heat of as hotter then Flare!

Not too far off from Flare, another dog-like pokemon could be seen. A Houndour was laying down on the ground and appeared to be chewing on some sort of bone. To those with shades of black and white for vision, there might not have appeared anything different about this particular Houndour. However, to those with color, a startling difference could be seen. Where there was supposed to be black was now blue. Ah, very nice, a shiny pokemon. For now, the pup appeared oblivious to Flare. Indeed, he was too busy chewing on his bone to really notice anything in his surroundings....which also left him very vulnerable...

Flare had been almost completely oblivious to the other canine nearby, the large male canine wandering about the Houndour in a large circle to make his way in front of him, not in a confrontational manner, but he did drop down into a playful position, that, said he was about to pounce the smaller canine. Though, the dog would be careful not to hurt the smaller male! If he didn't react violently anyway!

It was only out of happenstance that the Houndour noticed the Arcanine even when he was right in front of him. Having looked up for a brief moment from his bone, the small (in comparison with the Arcanine anyways) dog blinked before suddenly jumping to his feet only to be knocked over by the pounce. A rather odd growl, laugh escaped from the pooch. He'd come to a quick conclusion that it just had to be some sort of game of course! Squirming a little, the pup tried but couldn't get up from under Flare.

The Arcanine had playfully rubbed his large paw at the houndour's muzzle, playfully attempting to move the bone a bit as he let the canine up after. Realizing that the smaller dog might not be able to get up, with how it was moving. That, and he wanted to pounce the smaller dog again, if not get pounced by him. And if he was pounced, flare would easily go down, just to make the smaller male feel stronger!

Upon finally getting to his feet, the Houndour shook out his coat for a brief moment before making a few barks and this time making to pounce. Leaning just a little more, the Houndour then pushed himself forwards and made to tackle Flare giving a sort of yip warning before actually doing so. Well wasn't this an interesting way to meet a friend?

Flare had taken the taken the playful tackle, having lowered his head so the Houndour would end up either on top of his head, or bumping heads with him a bit. Either way, it would have all been in fun, the male playfully growling and grring to the smaller canine. And Flare certainly thought this was a good way to make a friend, after all one needs to be able to play with their friends! Even though 'talking' would have been a nicer way to start, he thought it was still a good method.

And in a strange twist of metaphysics, the Houndour butted heads with Flare but also somehow managed to end up flipping himself over in the process. @_@ Oh hey why was everything suddenly upside down....Oh wait... he was upside down! Realizing he was now oddly laying on Flare's head, the Houndour blinked before rolling over and nearly off, quickly pawing Flare to keep himself steady there.

Flare kept his head steady, eyes closing as the Houndour's paws covered them as he to steady himself. The canine woofing as he lifted himself up, before tilting his head back a bit, so the Houndour would slide further back on his neck towards his scarf. The male trying to keep him on him while he lowered his head again so the Houndour could rest his paws between his hears and look from this higher and new moving vantage point.

It worked like a charm. the puppy did slide a bit, yet he'd managed to keep his forepaws on Flare's head. Upon seeing things from a higher perspective, the Houndour's eyes grew. Wow...he was so far up! <Wow....you see this allllllllll the time?> he asked finally actually speaking in something more than friendly barks that carried little meaning.

Flare had bobbed his head a bit as the smaller canine questioned him. <"I remember when I was a pup.. Up on my friend's head and shoulders... Looking at what he saw, it was amazing. But now I see it all the time since I've evolved."> Flare had woofed out in a happy tone to the Houndour as he had continued on his way towards the direction he had been before the brief playtime.

The Houndour continued to look around staring at everything from his high point feeling a surprising amount of superiority in some regard to things below. <Really? I can't wait to evolve!> the pup proclaimed thinking that he would be as big as Flare when he did in fact shift. It would be so cool! Being up so high all the time and able to see everything and --- oh what was that? The thoughts of the Houndour had shifted a little as he caught sight of movement far off around a pile of rocks.

<"Yeah, it's nice, but sometimes I wish I were a Growlithe again."> The canine had rumbled up at the Houndour as he looked around while he had been walking. His ears had immediately raised, flicking from side to side as he had continued to move when he noticed a shadow move, not seeing what exactly it had been. The canine slowing down some as he continued walking, ready to let him hop off, if it came to fighting something.

<Why?> the pup asked in a confused voice, his ears flicking a little here and there as he asked the question. Not far off, a Magby was practicing some sort of ninja maneuver and was actually what both canines had seen. She was well aware of the Arcanine and Houndour in the area, yet as long as they didn't irritate her, she wouldn't attack....
Suddenly a crackling sound occurred directly above causing the Houndour to look up. The sky above, usually very peaceful, was colored dark and foreboding. Ack, rain! The Houndour's ears set back on his ears as he frowned up at the sky. Nooooooooooooooooo that'd be no fun!

I can't be sneaky like I was when I was a Growlithe... But with my new weight I can pin my friend much easier. Though.. I'll never admit it to him I'm doing it on purpose."> The canine said smiling and playing as innocent as he could. The canine ignoring the Magby as he had continued along his way towards where he thought the fire pits themselves were.
And then Thunder? The canine looking around to see he could see any of the accompanying lightning bolts. The Arcanine continuing onwards though, ready to jump to the side if any stray bolts of lightning coming down towards him and his new pup friend.[/scrolly] |

The Houndour 'laughed' which came out in a series of small barks at the thought of trying to be that big and then trying to be sneaky. There weren't enough big hiding spots! <Oh! Who's your friend?> the shiny asked looking down at Flare inquisitively. As a water droplet hit his ears, the Houndour fidgeted. Looking up at the clouds, the pup frowned slightly before shaking his head as though he were threatening it to actually rain on him.

Hes such a good boy though. Very good at taking care of me and my 'brothers'.."> The canine rumbled, showing a great amount of care and respect for the human. <"Anywhere we can have you hide from the rain nearby?"> The canine looked around, not worrying about getting rained on, at least he hadn't been attacked by a water type, meaning he and the pup would be fine, even if the smaller canine seemed distressed by it.[/scrolly] |

A rather surprised look came to the shiny's face at the thought of a human. Oh! He'd seen a few of those! Though... they always seemed so busy and either ignored him or .3. tried to get him to fight for some reason... which wasn't nearly as fun as playing! It was the second question that finally drew the pup's attention back to his surroundings. <Oh there's...uh...> the Houndour started before looking around amongst the pits until he caught sight of a particular rock formation that jogged that memory of his. <There's a cave thing that way!> he said pointing a paw in the direction.

He didn't care much about the rain or thunder, but he'd be damned if the young canine got too scared on the nape of his neck![/scrolly] |

Grip? Er...ok? The Houndour did his best to grip onto the Arcanine as best he could as Flare began to run. @_@ Oh wow he was fast! Squinting his eyes, the Houndour nodded his head keeping an eye out for the cave area. Sure enough, a large indention in rock could be seen moving closer... or rather appearing to do so. <T-there it is!> the Houndour yipped.
