Kali didn't know or care whether this... thing people were calling a neighborhood had always been so horrible or was a result of the monarchy's downfall. All she knew was it was disgusting, and she'd prefer to be out of here as quickly as possible. However, it was supposed to be home to a decent number of Reuniclus and Gothitelle, both of which seemed interesting to do further testing on... perhaps a little private research, or just some additional test subjects beyond those Leon owned. The presence of Weavile did help make the place more bearable as well. As amazing as Siavush was, Kali always wondered if maybe there wasn't a Weavile out there even better.
Of course... Kali had her own reasons, too. She'd long since become curious if Gothitelle would... meet similar standards, so to speak.. as Gardevoir and Gallade, the exceptions in her rule on how she thought of Pokemon. She could have asked to spend some time with Leon's, but.. Aside from having been putting it off, she'd decided the wild behavior of the species would be the truest test of its merit. No wild Electivire was so well-trained as Stormy, even before she'd become Shadow, but Reyna had been nearly so civil as Ami straight out of the castle. Yes, wild was best for testing.. She told herself she was finally looking for herself purely for curiosity's sake, and probably wouldn't be too surprised. Secretly, she was terrified at what she might find. But that was a bridge to cross when she got there.
For now, she was just hanging out here in the slums, walking down dark alleys alone. ...Pfff.. She almost laughed to herself at the thought. Leon would be so worried... and she was so proud of that fact~ Really, though, she did this sort of thing often enough, and less now than she used to. What was honestly the worst that could happen?

Great...just great.... Of all the places Kel Jaegar had been, had planned on going....the slums had never been one of them, and yet, here he was, scraping back alleys and side streets for loose change. Once a great thief, who took pride himself, now reduced to a has-been.
Although, a recent run of luck--if one would call sneaking into a cheap motel and getting a free shave, rest, and shower for the night luck--had Kel looking better than he had. Although he was still out of shape, his once well-toned abs replaced with a beer gut. Jail had changed the man, if one would call a Duke's basement jail...
Wearing a denim jacket with some obvious wear in it, a black shirt, and a pair of faded jeans, the man looked nothing like he once had. His hair was longer, though out of his face, which was now covered with a little red stubble. On his shoulder was a black Taillow. He couldn't remember the last time he successfully stole something......
Then...he saw someone coming his way, and hot DAMN she was hot. Come to think of it, Kel hadn't gotten laid in a good while either. Maybe this would finally be his chance. He propped himself against the side of a wall, his grey eyes looking over her figure, the Melanistic Taillow looking from her trainer to the girl. Lil' Bit had to admit...Kel had been different since that fateful day at the castle. But she and the others weren't about to give up on him.
"'Ey. What brings ya to this part of town? Ain't exactly safe, ya know?" Kel called. "I'd be happy to....escort ya..."

Looking to the source of the voice, she found herself--- oh hi there. A small blush arose as... wow he... She realized she should really be off-put by anyone on these streets, and a certain part of her did try to wrinkle her nose at the rough shape he was in but.... my there was.. a certain.. appeal to that roug---what the hell Kali.
She could have slapped herself. To start with, he looked like an older Uncle Eldes, as if her obvious daddy complex wasn't creepy enough; but even ignoring all that she was in love with Leon, and had been engaged for nearly a year. So it really didn't matter if she found this stranger mildly attractive. It wasn't like she was going t-
SHIT. x__x And suddenly it finally occurred to her that there was some strange old guy hitting on her in a dark alley in the middle of nowhere Arceus almighty she was about to get raped oh god okay calm down think Kali. All right. Well suddenly 'worst that could happen' held a bit more meaning, but.. All right, she could handle this.
Not wanting to provoke the man, as well as hoping to... maybe not intimidate but at least make him think twice before trying anything.. she smiled sweetly, a hand slipping back to reach in a pouch on her purse (because only kids carried backpacks right?). "Oh? Oh my, that's very sweet of you, sir. But I think I'll be fine." She grabbed a PokeBall from the pouch, and flicked it down in front of her, praying it was anything but Nibbler. To her relief, Siavush appeared. Ahh, good, good. He wasn't the most cooperative beastie, nor the most impressively intimidating, but he'd certainly protect her if it came down to it. "I have some fairly strong Pokemon~" she chimed.

Kel sighed as he was turned down, but the Pokemon brought an idea to the old man's head. She looked like she had money. If he could beat her in a battle...Yes, that would be PERFECT...Especially considering Kel's battle skills had gotten him money AND sex before...So if he played this right.
"Ya know, I fancy myself quite the trainer too. Ya know...maybe we should have a little battle. Nothin' serious." Kel smirked, reaching for a Pokeball on his own belt to combat the Ice type. Gideon should be more than a match...
But before he could open the ball, someone else decided she wanted to speak up. The little black bird on his shoulder decided to make herself noticed, launching herself from her perch at the Weavile, into an Arial Ace.
Meanwhile Kel sighed. Of all the Pokemon he had, the one that weighed all of FIVE POUNDS had to be the one who was most fiesty these days...

"Oh. ...Eh, sure, I--"
Then a little black Taillow suddenly charged Siavush, leading Kali to sweatdrop. The Weavile in question, however, just narrowed his eyes and reflexively charged into the attack head-on with his favored Ice Punch on his claws. He took the force of Lil Bit's attack right in the face before jabbing down his own attack. He'd been caught off-guard for a moment, and that he didn't like. But now? Now Siavush was grinning.
"...guess," Kali sighed weakly. "Guess that answers that." Turning, she trotted a few paces back down the alley to give them significant room (or as significant as the tight walls allowed), then turned back to Kel. "Don't say I didn't warn you~"

Kel swore under his breath, though...he always did admire that little bird's spirit. So teeny, yet in the heat of battle she seemed to think she was a Dragonite. But the Ice Punch sent the poor dear flying, so much so that she landed in Kel's arms. That one hit seemed to have done it; a Weavile's Ice Punch was tougher than the little bird could handle.
"You wanted a fight, Lil' Bit," he whispered softly, stroking her feathers for some reason. "You think you can do it, go get it. I know you've still got something left in the tank." Then, he muttered, "One of us has to."
Kel's words did it, or so it seemed. ...Wait...the bird started....glowing? When the glowing stopped, Kel almost dropped the newly evolved Swellow, even though she was still smaller than average. Letting out a battle cry, the Swellow took flight, soaring into the air before attempting to dive down in a Fly attack.
Kel could only smile. After all, he knew Lil' Bit was used to defying the odds.

"Ohey. Nice, grats." When was the last time one of her own Pokemon evolved just from battle? Man, that was like... Well she hadn't evolved many this year, anyway. She really did need to change out her team more.
Then again, why would she? Her current team was kind of awesome. For instance, right now, as Lil Bit soared up high, Siavush took advantage of the time to use a Swords Dance. By the time he was done, she had nearly reached him, but once again he just took the brunt of the attack head-on and Ice Punched as soon as he could. "Good job, Sia," Kali casually commented. But why would he do anything else? They sort of had nearly two years of fighting together with the same style in damn near every battle.

Okay, the Ice Punch was taking its toll on the Flying type, big time. Although this one didn't send the bird flying back, it definitely knocked her out of the sky. The black bird fell to the ground in a heap of feathers, and for a minute, didn't move a muscle.
"Shoulda let me use Gideon..." Kel muttered. But the man's words cut the bird deep, and she began to stir, down but not out. She was trembling, but there was a fire in her eyes like no other. She knew she'd jumped the gun; cashed a check her tail feathers couldn't cash. Maybe she should have let Kel use one of his Pokemon that was built for battle...
No. No. She had to do this. For him. For everyone. She had to show him that she was just as tough as Blade, the Scizor. Just as strong as the Shiny Aggron, Gideon. Just as aggressive as Venom, as Determined as Leah, and as merciless as Turmoil, the Shadow Ninetails...She deserved to be on the team as much as any of the others. She wasn't just some spoiled little bird whose only use was making Kel's shoulder look good. No. She had purpose. She wasn't just the cute one. Not anymore. Dammit she was a fighter.
The smaller than average melanistic Swellow suddenly rushed, wings spread wide in a Steel Wing. It was do or die...

Mildly. She'd probably be a pretty good fighter, with proper training and a smarter trainer. Sia twitched slightly as he realized what move was now coming, but he kept his eternal grin and did his best to dodge.
Unfortunately, even the Weavile's top quality speed wasn't quite enough, and the Super-effective move hit- not quite head-on but more than grazing. His arm and shoulder stung like mad, but still he wouldn't stop smi--- i.. i.... His eyes zoned in on the wound.
._. ... ;-; ... Q__Q .... DDDDDDD'B> b-b...b...b.......
Kali blinked and frowned. "...Sia what are you." Then she saw it. A tiny trickle of-
BLOOOOD. OH GOD HE WAS BLEEDING HE WAS DYING AHHHHHHH-
Kali facepalmed. Loudly. "FOR THE LOVE OF- I thought you'd gotten OVER this you fucking--" She sighed heavily. No, cursing at him wasn't going to help anything.
Rolling her eyes, she recalled him. "He'll be back..." she muttered to her opponent... whose name she realized she didn't know. "Name's Kali, by the way." Almost instantly she kicked herself mentally. Kalista. She'd been using Kalista, and for quite a while now. Why had she reverted just now? Pfeh... Maybe something to do with the battle.
At any rate, she brought out her dear Electivire with a sweet smile. "And this is Stormy~" The Shiny Electivire just stood there, blank and dull, a perfect drone. At any rate, it was time to get back to the battle. She figured the bird couldn't have much left, and as such decided to take no chances. "Shock Wave." As the words were spoken, the yeti's hand snapped up, firing out a bolt of pristine precision.

Ha. Looked like Kel still had it, after all. The red haired man always did pride himself in his battling, and as leader of a group where authority could be snatched away by battle, well, he had to stay on top. Although he may have gotten...rusty...since he'd left the group and lost all he thought was important. But now...he wasn't looking so shabby, and Lil' Bit seemed to be in the zone, as well.
"Name's Kels--" FUCK! For the first time ever...Kel gave his real name to a woman. Or had he...? "--y. Kelsy McGrath." Good enough. >.>
Then...out came the Shiny Electivire, and both trainer and Pokemon uttered the same thing in their own language. "Oh Shit..." <Oh Shit...> The Shock Wave hit head on, and the Swellow finally found herself down for the count.
"That was Lil' Bit. Normally ain't one to battle, but she surprised me." He returned the fallen bird. "This, however..." he pulled out a Pokeball, and released a Shiny Aggron, who looked like he was just itching to punch someone's lights out. "Is Gideon." The Aggron wasted no time, rushing at the other shiny with a Heavy Slam. Looked like there was going to be some shakin' going on in the ghetto tonight...

That looked like a pretty rough hit! Even if she couldn't tell from the appearance what it was.
However, as Stormy was staggered back slightly, she showed no signs of pain.. and recovered quickly. Ah~ So it hadn't been too terrible. In fact, since Stormy was roughly 35-40% of Gideon's weight, the attack had been only slightly stronger than a Metal Claw... and just as ineffective against an Electric-type. Not that Kali knew the more intricate details this time.
She did know this would be a cinch, though~ Poor Kelsy (she'd fought back her initial 'lolwut' reaction and was telling herself it must be one of those names like Lindsey and Ashley that used to be masculine or unisex) had no idea what he was in for. "Well, goodbye then, Gideon~" she chimed. Her smile suddenly took a darker quality. "Focus Blast." Oh, how Kali loved exploiting quad-weaknesses<3

Kel sighed, though he tried to hide it, it was no secret that the man was off of his game. Out of practice. All washed up. No. Kelsinn Bartholomew Jaegar hangs up his boots when he's in the grave. And the last time he checked, there was breath in his body.
"Gideon, Earthquake! If we go down, they're still gunna feel us in the mornin'."
The large Aggron unleashed the Earthquake, but then the Focus Blast hit head on and that was all she wrote. The massive Pokemon fell to the ground, which practically shook under the impact of the large Steel-Rock type. Kel returned Gideon, cursing under his breath. He was getting OWNED out here...Had this been six months ago, Kel would have been celebrating his victory by now.
Kel pulled out a pokeball, holding it tight in his hand. "Alright ol' buddy. You've never let me down before. Blade!"
A Scizor emerged from the Pokeball, his stance oddly though unintentionally resembling that of an MMA fighter, hungry for a victory. Blade's eyes locked on the Electivire. The Scizor wasn't the biggest, the baddest, the strongest, the fastest, or even the smartest on the team. But he wasn't just a show-off. He wasn't just a pretty boy. He was a fighter, and not just that, he was the one Pokemon that'd stuck by Kel the longest. Faithful, loyal, and determined, Blade knew without being told that he needed to pull one out here.

Said wall was.. less than sanitary, to put it lightly, however, and she jumped away with a small shriek the moment the shaking quieted. At least she was far enough from the falling Aggron that she only felt a small vibration in her legs when he fell too.
Stormy, too, had been knocked down just after releasing her energetic attack. Now, even as she worked to do so, Kali ordered flatly anyway, "Get up." The words seemed to hasten the process slightly. Kali barely noticed; she was more concerned with trying to get the dirt and ilk off of her arms and shirt, shuddering lightly now and then.
After a moment, she glanced up at the Scizor. Hm.. Not the easiest choice for-.. What was she talking about? Pfeh. "Fire Punch." Not the strongest move by a long shot, but given two or three of them... |3 Heh. Stormy balled her fist instantly at the words, never questioning her orders for even a fraction of a second. A few sparks broke into flames, and the heavy fist flew at the bug. It may have been worth noting she did seem.. maybe slightly slower than before. More notably, there was definitely something a little different about her gait. It appeared her leg had been injured to some degree by her fall. But the Electivire didn't appear to notice it at all. In fact, her expression never changed in the slightest.

Blade saw the Electivire coming, and that intensity never left the Scizor's eyes as he watched the Electric type rush in.
Kel, meanwhile, had also leaned against a wall during the Earthquake, but he kinda liked it there, regardless of how dirty. It was comfortable. "Blade, Dodge. Then go into a Night Slash."
Blade gave a nod, then sidestepped at the last sec--dang he was a bit slow as the Fire Punch grazed his shoulder, but he rolled with the momentum, rushing at the other Pokemon with the Night Slash.

She was getting weaker, but it didn't show much. "Rain Dance," Kali called quickly. For a split second, she'd thought more of going with a Screech or Thunder Wave, and the latter had nearly won out, but in the end she found herself calling the strategy she'd picked up from her master and love. Blade would with little doubt have time to attack before Stormy could manage both, but all the same, even as Stormy began to call her namesake, Kali went ahead and ordered, "Thunder."

Blade cringed a little as the attack was called. Ugh, Rain Dance....it was just like that day Kel had gotten put into jail...Oh the horrid memories...The chaos, the panic. No. Not again. Out of pure reflex, the Scizor did something he'd never done; he knew how of course, he was just more the type to go in there and get it done. But no. This time, the Steel Bug put up a Protect, saving him from the Thunder just in time.
"Nice thinking, ol' Buddy. Now, give 'er a Sandstorm."
<But of course...> The Scizor gave a nod as the sandstorm began to brew, replacing the rain with a blinding torrent of sand and dust.

"Fine. I'm flexible." With that, she recalled Stormy. Thus far that was two Pokemon recalled... but none fainted. A quick moment to return Stormy's ball to the conveniently accessible pouch on the side of her purse and get another it its place, and a Shiny Flygon was sent out. "Kjærlighet should be right at home in this sand~" she chimed.
Of course, it was a bit hard for the trainers to see either Pokemon too clearly through the sand, but the song of the Flygon's wings marked her presence rather clearly. "Flamethrower, Kjær." Not the most avid battler, the Flygon blinked slightly (though her eyes were quite protected from the storm). ..Ah, well this was against another human.. right? A wild Scizor wouldn't be in a place like this and she was pretty certain that was a human a ways behind him. All right, yes, trainer battles were okay. She let out her fire breath then.

God that was annoying...Kel was noticing fast that he and Kali had different strategies. Kel believed that if you started a battle, you stuck around until it was done. Meanwhile Kali was over there changing Pokemon faster than Kel changed underwear.
It was then that Kel got an idea. Maybe it was a good idea, maybe it was the most horrible idea he'd ever had. But he'd go for it.
"Blade. Take the hit." "Zor?" "You heard me. Endure. Take the hit," Kel said sternly, and the Scizor nodded, bracing himself for the attack that would otherwise be his end. Arceus damn it all...Kel better know what he's doing. Oh wait. Kel always knew what he was doing. Unless you count that one time.....
"Now. Reversal," Kel instructed. Oh! That's what he was up to. Kel wasn't used to having to play defense like this, but, Blade had to admit even at his worst his master was still a force to be reckoned with. But good God that man needs to work out more. >.>
Rushing in with the attack, the Scizor really hoped this idea worked as well as it looked on paper...
And meanwhile...so did Kel.

Her eyes may have also rolled a bit. Well if you're going that route you should've just Countered the Fire Punch before... That would've been stronger.
That said, this was still a pretty rough hit, and the Flygon was knocked back a good bit. Her wings couldn't quite catch her, and she tumbled a bit on the ground before finding her feet and then the air again; Kali winced at the outcome. Hesitantly, she considered her options. "....I think she's probably got plenty of fight in her, but I still need to consider my ride home," she explained to Kelsy. "It's quite a ways and I prefer not to go on foot."
With that, the Flygon too was recalled. "Unlike the others, we'll count her as out. On the off chance you've got a trump card up your sleeve, I'd rather lose by forfeit than have her totally fainted and all." A sudden giggle escaped her as she switched out PokeBalls again. "I think you'll like this one though~"
And with that, out came.... a Rattata. It was just too bad the Steel-type was immune to sand damage, but that was okay. This Scizor seemed to have needed that whole Endure, which meant.. "Quick Attack, Nibbler~" And a purple blur whizzed toward the barely-standing Scizor.

"Again with the recalling...is this a battle or speed-dating?" Kel grumbled, as the Quick Attack took the Scizor down. Then again after that failed strategy, the Rattata could have sneezed on Blade and he would have been out. Returning him, Kel weighed the options he had on him. Okay no, he was done screwing around. Though the three he had left would hardly count as screwing around, anyway.
"Leah! Let's go." He released a Floatzel, who looked over at him, not caring about the sandstorm. Oh Arceus he'd changed so much...and she'd failed him. It was all her fault he spent all that time in jail. She couldn't save him...No, she was going to redeem herself. She was going to take down whatever he needed her to--a Rattata? Hello, redemption...
The Floatzel rushed at her foe, cursing the Sandstorm but still striking with an Aqua Tail.
