Recruitment, pt I (Mod)

...Hm. Well, she'd just caught a Gligar, and... Eh. Kali shrugged. If it were a Nidorino, oh yes. That took little work to achieve great power. But Kali didn't care to raise them too much herself, nor did she feel like a double-battle at the moment for training purposes with the one she was raising at the moment. She did her best to skirt around them, then, trying not to draw too much interest.

Both pokemon continued on with their conversation as though not even noticing the girl. On the far wall, there appeared to be a window out of which one could look out. However, what was sitting on said window was what drew the eye the most. A large metal bird appeared to be perched on the window and looking out of it, a Skarmory indeed. However, there was something odd about this Skarmory's coloring... was it.. why yes it was a tad darker than the usual silver shine, but even this had its own light to it... It was in fact a Shiny Skarmory. The metal bird did not appear to notice the girl just yet but was staring out the window still.

Kali stopped dead in her tracks as the glint and shadow of the bird suddenly caught her eye. Her jaw dropped a bit as she blinked several times, trying to make sure her mind wasn't playing tricks on her. But no! No it was definitely there, and if she had any doubt left about it's special quality, a look at its wings revealed touches of not red but green! It was not only rare and powerful, but Shiny TOO! Yes. Yes Kali was VERY glad she had not wasted her time on the duo before.

How to battle, though... The last thing she wanted was for it to fly off. Kali retrieved not one but two balls from her bag, then: one her battler and one her fail-safe, Kjaerlighet, who she'd keep in reach for quick release if the Skarmory tried to flee. Once she had that, then, she sent out the other; her Growlithe materialized with a small mrowl. "Pup," she said quietly. "Go talk to that Skarmory and see if it's friendly. If it attacks or tries to run, though, Flamethrower."

The large puppy blinked a bit, but then nodded hesitantly. Well, making friends was good.. right? Of course, Kali was mostly concerned for time; the less she had to battle, the deeper she could explore, and the longer her team would last to fight bigger threats. Happily padding closer to the Skarmory, Pup tilted his head, tonge falling out of the bright smile on his face. Finally he decided simply on, <..Hi there~>

[Jay]

The Skarmory turned his head and stared at the fire pup before turning his head a few degrees more. <Guten Tag> the Skarmory answered back giving a German greeting even in poke-speak.

Pup's smile faded. ..wh-what? He blinked a bit and whimpered, not sure just what the bird meant by those weird words. <I... don't understand?> He did his best to put back on a smile, though, if a worried one, and wagged his tail just a few times slowly.

The Skarmory blinked apparently not understanding what the fire pup had said. <ICH nicht verstehen, was sie gesagt> the bird answered back pretty much saying 'I don't understand what you said' right back at him. The bird blinked in confusion again turning his head to one side and then the other.

Nyeh.. But.. That.. D:> That didn't make SENSE! Whining more, Pup turned back to Kali and gave a small, stressed, 'whatdoiDO???' bark. Kali blinked at this, wondering what the problem was. The bird was neither flying nor attacking... Maybe he'd said something mean to the dog, or..? She sighed. Whatever. Either way something wasn't going right, so she may as well. "Eh, screw it then. Just--" Actually. She'd put it off and then forgotten, hm. "Pup, c'mere."

The Growlithe blinked, but happily did so. Kali kept a careful eye on the Skarmory as she moved, ready to release Kjaer to pursue it if need be. Damn window. As Pup got closer, she reached in her bag and pulled out her recently purchased Fire Stone, holding it out to him. "This oughtta give you a leg up, mm?"

Barrr? What was this? Leaning in, he saw it was really shiny. But what-..? He moved closer to sniff it, and as his nose brushed against the stone he and it began to glow.

[★ Ryuujin !]

Watching as the Growlithe evolved, the Skarmory took a step back and tilted its head, <Was zum Teufel...> His head followed the height of the fire-type as he grew, stopping when he did to reveal the Arcanine before him. Snorting, the Skarmory flapped his wings before closing his eyes and turning his head away, <Ganz gleich. Das ist nichts.> He spoke confidently before sliding into a slightly defensive stance, eyes back on the large fire type before him. <Ganz richtig dann ... was sind Sie dabei zu tun?> He asked the other, wondering if a fight would ensue.

Pup stepped back in shock only to find himself all the more surprised at the altered feeling of his body and how much ground one step covered. He.. he was so BIG now! Had human-girl done this? o3o Before he could gawk much more, though, the Skarmory again began speaking in those strange, ugly words that hurt his ears, and he whined more, then barked at the bird; sadly, his voice was not much deeper than before. "Heat Wave, Pup," Kali ordered. It took Pup just a moment, but realizing she meant they were battling the Skarmory he quickly barked a response and let loose the hot air.

[★ Ryuujin !]

Seeing the Arcanine make its first move, the Skarmory gave a curt nod before spreading his wings again, <Sehr gut dann...> Very well then... He roared before disappearing, a substitute taking the attack. As it was demolished by the move, the Skarmory took couple steps back before taking to the air. One move, even if it was fire, wouldn't take him down quite yet, not, he was too smart for that. Of course, Substitute took its toll on the Skarmory, it was far less than what the Heat Wave would've done. From in the air as he rose higher, the Skarmory opened his mouth, a glow coming from deep down before he screeches slightly as he released a Flash Cannon at the fire-type.

The bulky fire dog took the ineffective attack with relative ease; "Extremespeed, and Fire Spin!" Kali ordered as he did. The bird was starting to fly; she didn't like that. At least it was inside for the moment, but that window was huge, and it could dart any moment. One hand gripped Kjaer's ball firmly for comfort. Mrowling, Pup charged the substitute in the blink of an eye, then let out a small whirlwind of fire; hopefully the first blow had finished the plasma-doll, and the latter would also keep the Skarmory here and battling.

[Jay]

In truth, the doll took the damage of the first and then that of the second only breaking after the second. Irritated at seeing his doll so quickly destroyed, the Skarmory quickly formed a Mud Slap and shot it at the fire dog.

Pup cringed at the weak but painful blow, whimpering as a large paw tried to brush off his stinging eyes. "Fire Spin again!" she called. Urgh, this wasn't like her, being so cautious. But.. but but.. it was a Shiny. Skarmory. Kali realized at this point it would be the first glittering glory she'd caught all by herself, wouldn't it? Oh yes~<3

[Jay]

Without the protection of the Substitute, the Shiny Skarmory was encased in the flames and cried out as the fire rushed around him doing heavy damage to a metal creature. The flames continued around him, and the Skarmory found that there was no direct exit now with the flames the way they were. The only thing he could do was continue to attack and hope for the best. Forming an Ominous Wind, the Skarmory flapped out the wind-like attack.

The tiger-dog shuddered at the painful, eerie feeling of the wind, barking in fear and pain. "Fire Blast!" Kali called; now that their position was better, they could start opening up more. Pup growled out his attack as he sent the humanshape flame firing up into the spiral.

[Jay]

The Fire Blast all but fazed through the Fire Spin and bashed straight into the Skarmory causing him to cry out in pain finding himself not only still trapped by the circling fire but also burnt. In another second, both reactions seemed to take the last of his stamina and caused the Skarmory to faint on the ground.

Kali blinked and sweatdropped. That was... almost disappointingly easy. ... WHO CARED, SHINY TIME<3 Finding an empty PokeBall, she tossed it at the fainted bird even as she recalled Pup with a "Great job, boy."

The pokeball struck the Shiny and consumed it before hitting the floor and shaking a few times before calling out a capture.

Ability: Sturdy
Personality: This Skarmory knows little English and is often confused when his trainer calls out attacks. However, he has a rather good temper and doesn't get frustrated easily when he doesn't understand. He's a tad weak in fighting power but can actually fly very long distances without too much trouble.

Kali waited for the hovering flames to finish dying out, then went and retrieved the ball with a giggle. I caught my own SHINY<3 With no one around to see, Kali spun around a few times with excitement, the allowed the ball to head back to storage. A little more bounce to her step, she continued further. There was still a lot of daylight left, and her PokeBall supply still looked nice.

It appeared that the previous fight had scared away the mass of pokemon for there was none to be seen as the eye moved around the level. However, there was a flight of stairs not far off that led to upper levels of the tower. Would Kali choose to go up those stairs?
