The beach: Alaric's favorite place on earth. No matter what one was looking to do, chances were one could do it somewhere along the water's edge. One could get away and be alone, or meet with friends or new people, depending on which part one traveled. There were shops and food thanks to tourists. One could enjoy the hot, dry sand or the cool, relaxing waters. The beach offered the most spectacular sunsets on earth, and the view at day or night was nothing to scoff either. One could even find Pokemon, a plethora of different species, in the waters, sand, rocks, caves- everywhere, if one looked hard enough!
Currently, Alaric's own reasons were simply to get away and have some time to think. Recently, he had decided that it was about time he began putting out an effort in this war plaguing their country. The question, though, was... how? As he sat overlooking the crashing waves below, he pondered. Alaric did not agree with any of the current sides. Certainly, he thought the few loyalists he heard of in whispers were quite justified, but.. the odds... There was just too much guesswork, too many what-ifs, to put all his hopes upon that.
So while finding a worthy royal was certainly his first choice... what else? What would he most want if that option never came to pass? He wasn't sure.
Were this one of his beloved stories, he could imagine himself as as the brave knight who would rise above odds, combat the evil forces, and restore peace to his beloved land; but unfortunately, real life did not work the way stories did.
....But then, why not? Perhaps he couldn't be the lone hero like some stories but.. He wouldn't be alone anyway, would he? He idly fingered the PokeBalls hanging from his belt as he gazed over to the large lioness lounging beside him. There was another sort of story like that, wasn't there: those in which a hero led an army. Just a full team of Pokemon could achieve surprising amounts with proper leadership; if he could manage to recruit others to follow him, with teams of their own...
The longer he thought, the better the idea sounded. Alaric was not yet sure WHAT this army would be aiming to achieve as an ultimate goal, but for the short-term, perhaps he could use this idea to defend his beliefs as he came across offenders- a sort of vigilante team, perhaps! .... Yes. Superheroes AND medieval times? Just... yes.
Standing, the young man smirked and supressed a silent laugh at the thought. "But first thing's first.." he mumbled to Honey as much as himself. "I'll have to make my own 'army' worth standing by before asking others.." And how convenient. Water-types were versatile, popular, and- wha'd'ya know!- everywhere here! Well, that made getting started easier indeed. "C'mon Honey. Let's go find some new friends~"

A little girl of about two years old is playing in the sand. She seems to have some of her parents Pokeballs, and is arranging them in certain positions around a sand castle. She would be easy enough to steal from, considering her age and apparent un-supervision, as her parents were sunbathing and not paying attention. Try to steal a Pokeball and see what you got?

Alaric walked along the beach, Honey following, until he came into view of the small child. Upon noticing her, he suddenly stopped, looking around urgently for her parents, finally sighing in relief as he spotted them not far off, though it still did not ease him. What were they doing even THAT far from a child so young? And not even WATCHING? He scowled.
Certainly, he could just pick her up, take her over, give a nice sarcastic "Is this yours?" He didn't doubt that this would just serve to irritate the parents, however. "Who do you think you are touching my kid!" he could hear them screaming. Thus, Alaric began to plot a more... creative method.
After a few moments, he checked to ensure the adults still had not noticed him- though he doubted it given his distance anyway- then leaned over to Honey and whispered some instructions. Nodding, she lept off, running a fair way back to reduce her chances of being spotted before finding a good place to hide. Meanwhile, Alaric continued to walk down the beach at a casual pace, walking past the girl, then past her parents.
Once he was some yards past them, it was time. Honey slunk out from her hiding place, stalking- if at a rapid pace- toward the child. Once she was closer, she broke into a run, screaming as she lept toward her. Landing a few feet away, paws to either side, she pretended to be distracted by the PokeBalls, growling loudly as she batted at one 'curiously'.
At her scream, Alaric spun around feigning surprise. "Christ, it's a LUXRAY!"

At the Luxray's scream and the man's, the two parents peeked over their magazines towards their child. Upon seeing that the Luxray was interested in playing with the Pokeballs, the mother 'awwed" and the father grunted and went back to his magazine, his wife soon following. The little girl, infatuated by the Luxray, slowly reached out for it's face. She wanted to pet it.

....Wjiejfoaewjiaj!
Honey stepped back in shock, just a moment, glancing urgently toward Alaric for guidance. At his frantic, attempted-as-indiscreet nodding, Honey gulped and turned it up a notch, screaming again as she batted the child with fair force with the back of her paw. It should be enough to knock her back a ways, and enough to feel unpleasant, but not enough to legitimately harm her.
Alaric's hand clapped to his mouth as he watched Honey stalk toward the child again. "Are you going to DO something!?" He did his very best to feign horror and concern.

The little girl was knocked backwards, and she sat back up and giggled, before standing up and running at the Luxray, her arms outstretched as if she was going to do a flying tackle hug and do her best to hang on. Her parents, when adressed by the strange man they didn't know, looked up again. "Do what?" The father said. "She's having fun." The mother waved off, going back to her magazine.

Alaric grew completely silent; at this point, he was thoroughly pissed. Dropping his hands to rest in his pockets, he shrugged. Turning to leave, he glanced back at Honey with a serious leer, then continued down the beach as though he had no relation to the lioness.
With a bit of a grimace, Honey nuzzled the child around to position her, then picked her up in her maw- as gently as she would a kitten, of course, and began to carry her off. ... And further off. ... And further. She in fact made a beeline away from the shoreline and did not seem to be deviating from this path at all. By this time, Alaric was already out of earshot, fading out of sight, on his own path.

The girl giggled and clapped, having a blast. "Kitty!" She laughed, before she started sucking on one of the Pokeballs. She still had about three of them with her. One of them was in the pocket of her shorts, the other two were clamped in her hands. The mother simply waved at her, not knowing what was fully going on. "Have fun, dear." The father grunted again, rolling over. Apparently, he had fallen asleep. The girl was still having fun, even as she got farther... and farther... and FARTHER away from her parents.

With no one to stop her, Honey got out of sight and circled around to meet with Alaric, who audibly facepalmed at seeing the child still in her maw. "REALLY?" He sighed. Well, if they were really THAT unattentive, he'd done the right thing anyway.
Reaching out to pat Honey, he changed his mind and withdrew his hand, distancing himself from the child a little instead. When Honey gave him a bewildered look and shocked mewl, he just grinned sheepishly. "Eh... You seem to be doing fine holding her.. Heh.." Honey rolled her eyes, but followed all the same.
Finally, he spotted their destination: a beach patrol station. Reluctantly taking the child from Honey before approaching the door, he opened it and called, "Hello? ..I found this child unattended on the beach?"

There were some men inside... but they were asleep on chairs, half-eaten glazed donuts stuck to their faces. They had the official uniforms, but both were out cold. One of them, the fatter of the two, waved his hand at Alaric irritably. "We don't want whatever your sellin'." And with that he went back to sleep. The second man, upon waking after the first man talking, promptly threw a jelly-filled donut at Alaric, before starting to snore.

... Leering, Alaric turned around and closed the door, handing the surprisingly calm child back to Honey. Drudgingly, they continued a good deal further down the beach until they were able to find an on-duty lifeguard. "Are YOU going to care about this child's well-being?" he called in a sighing tone.

The lifeguard turned towards the man as he walked up. He regarded the child slightly before talking to the man. "Sure... But why? Don't you want to take care of your own kid?" Yeah, he assumed Alaric was the kid's father.
The girl, meanwhile, was sucking on her hand. When she saw the lifeguard, she giggled, reached around, and aimed to put her saliva-sodden hand on the Luxray's nose. She smiled and giggled some more.

At this point Alaric was caught between the WTF-shock of the lifeguard's assumption and the sudden relief at realizing he'd left Honey holding her and the guard hadn't seemed to mind. ... Yes, he should probably fix that now.
Coughing in his shocked disbelief, Alaric took the girl from Honey and carried her closer. "NO, it's not like-.. I'm not-.. She isn't mine," he finally managed. Setting her down and allowing Honey's unmatched eyes to watch her, he continued, "I found this little girl unattended on the beach." Alaric was a terrible liar, but fortunately, it wasn't a lie, really. She wasn't alone, but calling that behavior attentive would have been a bigger lie. It made his head ache to think what sort of 'care' she must receive at home if that were any example.
"I tried to take her by the patrol HQ, but the only two officers there were asleep," he grumbled.

The lifeguard kept nodding as Alaric explained his story, before picking up the girl off the ground. "I see..." He nodded, a bit annoyed. "I'll get right onto those two patrol officers. You just head about your business." The lifeguard turned to walk away, but the girl reached over his shoulder and threw a Pokeball at Alaric. "Gift!" She squealed before being hauled out of sight.
So the Pokeball was now Alarics... What would he do with it?

Finally! Alaric gave a heavy sigh of relief before suddenly finding a PokeBall being flung in his direction. Caught off guard, he didn't quite catch it, and by the time he'd registered what had happened, picked it up from the sand, and turned around, the two were no more than another spot in the distance. He should know where they were going, if the lifeguard had in fact meant get right on them right now.
Then again.. Thinking for a moment, he realized a toddler certainly wasn't likely to be the primary caregiver of anything. This meant the Pokemon actually belonged to her parents, didn't they? And if they couldn't even take care of their flesh and blood, what chance did a Pokemon have? He shrugged then and decided he may as well keep it; she HAD said "gift" after all (which was, admittedly, absolutely adorable). He was looking to build his team anyway, right?
Fighting his smile as he thought about the cute child- much cuter now that someone else was responsible for her again, of course- he pressed the button and released the ball's inhabitant, curious as to just what she'd been hauling around.

The Pokemon that came out was adorable. She blinked as she saw the new person with her Pokeball, before tilting her head, sticking out her tongue, then lunging at his face with a happy squeal. Yes, she intended to latch onto his face and suck on his forehead, if at all possible.
Yes, it might be... could it be... Yes, this little pink Pokemon was... A West Sea Shellos! Yes, the pink crusader of the West! With the pink crown-like thing on it's head, she extended her neck, hoping to fly around.
Name: *You choose* Species: West Sea Shellos Gender: Female Ability: Sticky Hold Personality: This Shellos is spastic, loving and probably a bit crazy. She has a fetish for sucking on people's foreheads and crawling all over them. In battle she's even crazier. Her attacks are wild, unpredictable and most likely NOT to be the ones that her trainer ordered.

"--THE FUCK?" Alaric fell back as the Pokemon lunged, barely catching himself as he landed. Once he had, he managed to figure out just what had just happened and what sort of 'gift' the toddler had given him. Yes, this certainly seemed like the sort of companion a 2-yr-old would choose to play with, didn't it... Still, maybe with training..?
Meanwhile, Honey had been taken aback just a moment, and now lunged at her trainer and the blob on his face. One forepaw behind him, the other on his knee, she glared down at the Shellos with enraged eyes, growling. Her fur stood on end, sparks cracking within it.

Before the Luxray could get her, the Shellos licked Alaric's nose before scooting around and then crawling inside of his shirt, enjoying the warmth. She squeaked and wiggled around, crawling all over the place. When the Luxray growled, she shot her head out of his neck-hole and licked Honey's nose before pulling her head back in and squeaking again, as if giggling.
~~~ Ahck! Short.
Alaric gave a squeak of a gasp and shuddered at the feeling of the cold slimy creature slithering down his skin. Honey was meanwhile flinched herself, her eyes only narrowing further at the personal insult. Between this and seeing her trainer was clearly NOT happy with the little worm's actions, Honey was not about to let her games continue.
Hissing once, she grabbed a mouthful of Alaric's shirt in her mouth, pulling it out to slash it open with sharp claws, then shifting to surprise-bite the Shellos with a mildly-charged Thunder Fang.
The Shellos was bit down by the Thunder Fang and felt the electricity run through her. She quickly recoiled and lost all grip of the man she had been clinging to. She had not fainted, yet the attack had done damage.
