Stretching her arms over her head, Aylin emitted a long, drawn out yawn. The night had begun to fall, and she had had a rather long day of traveling to various towns and talking to the locals. Unfortunately, no one seemed to have seen Valerius, and the only clues she had to go off of were still those she had learned from Ieri.
However, despite the fact that the sun was beginning to set and that she was rather tired by this point, Aylin had wanted to get a little bit of training in and perhaps capture a few wild Pokemon as well. It had been her tradition of sorts--she always did some training in the evening--and she wasn't about to break it now, even if she was in a new and foreign place.
Her bag was stocked with pokeballs and other supplies in which she had purchased earlier than day, and--as usual--Faris, Xiaoli, and Nahele stood at her side. Glancing at them, she hummed contemplatively. "For today...maybe Xiaoli? Are you up for training?"
The Snivy offered her a smirk as he bobbed his head in an affirmative. 'Always ready, he answered, and while Aylin couldn't understand his exact words, she got the gist of it. From beside her, Faris and Nahele sighed. 'Don't get too cocky now,' the Arcanine warned.
Propping her hands up on her hips, Aylin scanned the area for any wild Pokemon to battle, and possible those to catch if they caught her eye.

Far off, a Vanillite appeared to be hopping around in the snow and didn't even seem to take notice of any sort of human there. A Drifloon was floating around closer but in a different direction form the Vanillite Suddenly a rumbling could be heard. What appeared to be a herd of Swinub was on the move through the forest.

Upon seeing the Drifloon and Vanillite, Aylin paused in consideration, her brows knitting together. They seemed so...well, peaceful. It seemed wrong to have Xiaoli attack them considering that they weren't being particularly aggressive to her team. Perhaps they should wander around mor--
The rumbling sound nearly gave her a heart attack as her hand flew up to press against her chest, feeling her heart pound quickly beneath her palm. Frowning, she turned to face the forest, her body tense. If the group was simply passing by, then fine, but if they were headed in their direction...
Not that they could take on a whole group of Swinub (that would be ridiculous) but Aylin certainly wouldn't mind a battle with one or two if they attacked.

The trees were bending far off from Aylin and then closer and closer and .... what appeared as a sea of Swinub seemed to come pouring out from the snow and around the trees, and they were all headed right towards the girl ._.; oh dear....

Okay. Well. That definitely wasn't the one or two she had hoped for.
...This was, um, pretty inconvenient.
From what she could see, there was no way she and her Pokemon could get out of the way before the Swinub reached them. They couldn't just stand there and wait to get trampled though! Aylin tried to think, the gears in her mind whirling quickly as she tried to come up with a decent plan. At the very least, she could call her team back into their Pokeballs so that they would be out of harm's way...and then what? She could try to outrun them, but--
Faris stepped up in front of them now, his fur bristling. Before Aylin could speak, the Arcanine used flamethrower on the approaching group, the torrent of fire swirling forth from his mouth. Whether this would even do anything was debatable, but even if the swinub were somehow unharmed by the attack, it could buy them precious seconds to get out of the way.

Several of the Swinub were pushed back by the fire attack, yet some were still coming forwards all but flowing like water. Oh dear .__.; run? Maybe? What would the girl do?

Well, at least they had pushed some of them back, but that was certainly not going to be enough. Letting out an irritated grunt, Faris was quick to return to Aylin's side, urging her to climb onto his back. Considering the speed of Arcanines, perhaps it wouldn't be impossible to get out of the way in time if they all rode on Faris.
With this thought in mind, Aylin grabbed Xiaoli and Nahele and swung herself onto Faris' back. Just as they were going to run away, Xiaoli--who looked rather displeased at having his training interrupted by this group of Swinub--suddenly used vine whip. The long vine that shot out curled around the closest Swinub, and then promptly flung it at the approaching group. All the while, an amused smile played on the Snivy's face.
Aylin, meanwhile, was not very happy. "Xiaoli! Don't bowl with the Swinub!" she scolded over the noise. With a sigh, Faris suddenly set off at a dash, hopefully able to get out of the way before they could be crushed beneath the crowd.

Indeed, the speed of the Arcanine was far greater than the Swinub, and it seemed that the large dog was tearing away from the horde fast. Soon enough, they were not only out of sight but out of sound.... phew... that was close............Far away, a Cubchoo could be seen sitting in the snow.

Aylin was so relieved that she nearly fell off of Faris as they slowed to a stop, managing to stay on only because Nahele grabbed her shirt between his teeth and tugged. "Good job, Faris," she breathed, reaching forward to pat his head, "We owe you one."
Meanwhile, Xiaoli was peering at the Cubchoo with some consideration, his eyes narrowed thoughtfully. Looking over to him, and then following his gaze, Aylin immediately shook her head. "Oh no, you are not fighting that Cubchoo. Look at it--it's just minding it's own (adorable) business! I'm not going to let you bully it around, so let's keep looking if you want to fight."

In a large tree not too far off, a Hoothoot could be seen sitting on a branch dozing rather sleepily. A Murkrow could be seen on another branch looking down at the Hoothoot rather questionably. Suddenly, a Jynx could be seen walking through the snow rather quietly for some reason.

A Jynx? Those seemed relatively rare, and Aylin absentmindedly touched one of the empty pokeballs that she had attached to her belt. Maybe--
Before she could voice her thoughts or act, she noticed Xiaoli using vine whip again from the corner of her eye. Turning to him and ready to scold him, she instead froze in shock when she realized her Snivy's attack was going for the Hoothoot that was dozing on it's perch. However, instead of the vines smacking the owl Pokemon as Aylin had expected to happen, Xiaoli only prodded at it (somewhat roughly) and snickered.
"Xiaoli!"

The Hoothoot opened one eye, stared at the vines, and then opened both eyes and flailed in shock all but falling off his perch. The Murkrow blinked and sweat dropped considerably, yet the Jynx seemed to be oblivious to it all and continued to walk.

For whatever reason, the Snivy seemed particularly focused on bothering the Hoothoot despite Aylin's protests. He snickered loudly at the flailing movements that the other Pokemon made before prodding at it again. If anything, it seemed as if Xiaoli wanted to aggravate the bird Pokemon.
'He's trying to pick a fight,' Faris sighed, though he made no move to stop his ally, 'Clearly he's getting a bit impatient.' The Arcanine glanced up at the sky where the sun had begun to sink beneath the horizon. He knew that neither he nor the other Pokemon on the team minded training late in the evening, but they were a little more particular about keeping Aylin out at night.

The Hoothoot continued to find himself being prodded and once more flailed before shaking his head. Forming a Psychic, the bird released the move to try and force the Snivy so that he could go back to sleep. The Jynx slowly walked on and started to disappear down the road... oh well......

Aylin grimaced, moving forward and slowly reaching out a hand towards the Snivy, "Hey, you don't force Pokemon to fight!" However, before she could grab hold of Xiaoli, the psychic attack came flying at them. The girl managed to jerk her hand back just at the last minute.
Xiaoli staggered backwads, withdrawing his vines with him. After he straightened himself out, he shook himself off and then grinned. Unfortunately, the Hoothoot's defensive attack had the opposite effect as, instead of deciding to leave the bird Pokemon be, Xiaoli had perceived the attack as an agreement to fight. With a grin, he sent his own attack back at the Pokemon--Leaf Tornado--and the mini tornado of swirling leaves made it's way towards the perch. His golden eyes narrowed and he cocked his head up towards the Hoothoot--a challenge.

............... The Hoothoot was hit by the raging leaves and seemed to blink startled before leering at the Snivy. Jumping up into the air, the Hoothoot used an Aerial Aice and then flew back up on the branch. Hmph. Would they just let him go back to sleep?

"I'm sorry!" The trainer squeaked meekly, shooting a firm stare at Xiaoli, "I don't know why he's doing this, and I just...we'll go now, okay?"
Xiaoli seemed to have other plans though, especially when the Aerial Ace came his way. He was blown back, vaguely aware that Aylin had called his name in panic, but he pushed himself back onto his feet, glaring at the Hoothoot. Without warning, his vines flew out again in an attempt to wrap themselves around the Hoothoot's leg.
'Battle me for a bit and then I'll leave you be.' It was hard to tell whether he was leaving that open for debate or not.

The moody irritated bird narrowed both eyes and all but growled. <Fine, then you must let me go back to sleep> he stated aloud. After another moment, he formed yet another Aerial Ace and made to hit the Snivy yet again.

The Snivy grinned, triumphant. 'I keep my promises.'
When Aylin moved forward to break up the fight, she was pushed back gently by Faris, who looked her in the eyes. 'Leave them for now. The Hoothoot agreed to fight, so let Xiaoli have his battle.' The trainer stared at the Arcanine silently for a moment, analyzing what he was trying to tell her, before she finally nodded.
Xiaoli tried to dodge out of the way of the oncoming attack, but he was a second too slow and the attack sent him tumbling again. Growling, he rose back to his feet before abruptly charging towards the tree and using his momentum to launch himself upwards. Twisting himself around in the air, he tried to bring the leafy tip of his tail--that had a sudden metal-like sheen to it--down on the Hoothoot.
'I didn't know Xiaoli knew Leaf Blade,' Faris mused, staring at his companion. From beside him, Nahele piped up, 'Xiaoli trains on his own sometimes, so I guess that's where he learned it from. He probably wanted to use this battle to test it out.'

The Leaf Blade came down on the Hoothoot who seemed to take it and cringe a tad. However, thankfully at leats for him, the type match up was in his favor of sorts. Forming a Hypnosis, the bird shot it towards the Snivy with a more ready retaliation now.
