Unable to dodge, the only thing Xiaoli could do was throw up a quick Protect, digging his feet into the ground as the force of the attack pushed him backwards. From the side, Aylin grimaced--she knew that Xiaoli hadn't perfected Protect yet, so until he trained more, she had limited him to using it only once per battle. It would have been a fool's move to attempt to win a fight with only Protect, after all.
However, feeling that her Snivy's judgment was becoming a little clouded with irritation, the girl stepped in. "Xiaoli, don't hesitate! Get out of his view and use wrap!"
The Snivy cast a quick glance over towards Aylin, nodding briefly before he ran towards the tree the Hoothoot was in. He ducked to the back of the tree to face the flying Pokemon's back before sending out his vines again, intent on wrapping them tightly around the bird type's body and binding his wings.

The Hoothoot was indeed caught quite off guard and was bound by the Wrap move and cringed from the attack. However, forming a Air Slash, the Hoothoot managed to break free of most of the vines and made to fly up in the air (even with a few of the vines still attached) in order to get away from the immediate attack.

Biting down on her lip, Aylin went through the possibilities of attacks or combos in her mind. Finally, she settled on an idea, deciding that the best way to battle a flying type was simply to bring it down.
"Don't let him get too high! Pull him down a little closer and use Leech Seed!"
Using what vines were still attached, the Snivy made an effort to try dragging the Hoothoot lower--or at least, close enough for his Leech Seed to hit. After a few seconds of struggle, he decided to take his chance and launched the seed at the bird Pokemon. If he was lucky, the tiny vines that would spread from the seed would bind the Hoothoot tightly enough to drop him out of the air. The leeching part was just a bonus.
At all could do in those seconds was wait and see if the seed hit.

The Hoothoot was indeed pulled and seeded. Crying out startled, he felt a rush of energy leave him as the tactic moved into effect. Shaking his head a bit sharply, the Hoothoot seemed to puff a little and made a full Air Slash again and cut the vine that were still attached to his form (though admittedly due to the tactic of the move, the Air Slash did not harm the Snivy in the least).

Even though he got out, at the least the leeching part had done some damage. Considering Xiaoli's type, the majority of his moves were grass types. That was clearly to their disadvantage, but of course, there were a couple moves that Snivys had that weren't grass types. The only problem was: was the Hoothoot low enough for this next attack?
"Use Slam!" Aylin called from the side, watching the battle with bright and alert eyes. Her Snivy took a quick glance at the Hoothoot--analyxing how far it was from him, and how high above him he was--before he went for the flying Pokemon at a running start. Leaping into the air directly below the Hoothoot, Xiaoli made to grab for its legs, his eyes glinting with determination. Even if he managed to grab onto its legs, he hoped that he would have the strength to swing the wild Pokemon towards the ground.

The Hoothoot couldn't react fast enough and was grabbed before suddenly thrown straight at the ground. Hitting said ground before he could do anything, the Hoothoot groaned a little in pain from the attack. Slowly forcing himself up, the bird shook his head and then seemed to try and keep going. Releasing a Psychic, the Hoothoot retaliated.

Having not foreseen the attack, the Psychic hit Xiaoli head on, and he tumbled backwards at the impact. He lay there for a moment before, with a wince, pushing himself back up. The fact was that it looked like they were both being worn down, and now it was almost a matter of endurance.
This thought was what drove Aylin to her next command: "Quick, Xiaoli! Use Giga Drain!" She hoped that this would be enough to tip the scale in their favour.

The Giga Drain hit the Hoothoot, and the bird pokemon cringed a little not hit as hard as he could have been considering type advantages, but then he actually realized that the Leech Seed was continuing to put a drain on him and only made things worse. Struggling to get up, the Hoothoot inevitably fell forwards exhausted.

Instead of finishing the battle off with another attack, the Snivy simply approached the other Pokemon. 'Thanks for the battle,' he grinned, looking triumphant but very much scratched up as well, 'You're definitely stronger than you look.'
Aylin stepped up from behind him and crouched down, frowning as she pat the Hoothoot gently, "I'm sorry we disturbed you while you were trying to get some rest," she looked a bit embarrassed, shooting Xiaoli another scolding look before her attention swerved back to the flying Pokemon, "Are you okay? Do you need a potion?"

The Hoothoot was slowly moved up again and seemed to sigh rather sleepily as he did so. "Hoot," he answered back more or less stating that he'd be ok before slowly appearing to go to sleep right then and there. >>; Guess... he really wanted to get to sleep...heh...

The girl blinked blankly, and then cracked a smile, hiding her laughter behind her hand. Picking the Hoothoot up carefully, she moved towards a tree and put him at the base, figuring it would be a little safer there. "Alright then, should we go, or...?"
Xiaoli shook his head, clearly wanting to continue. Despite the fact he was a little scratched up, the battle had also gotten his blood boiling. He wanted to get another battle in before he settled down for the night at least. Nahele seemed to share Xiaoli's sentiments--he wanted to get stronger too!--while Faris seemed completely indifferent. Sighing, Aylin conceded.
"Alright, we'll stay a little longer. I'll probably have to give you a potion, Xiaoli, but I'll let you fight one more battle." She turned to Nahele and propped her hands up on her hips, "As for you, time allowing, I'll try to fit a battle in for you tonight too, okay?" She smiled when Nahele made a happy noise before turning around to scan the area for more wild Pokemon.

Far off, a Stantler had watched the battle and appeared to be frowning considerably. The Murkrow from before yawned a bit and flew off. Far off, a Glalie was on the move and seemed to be looking around for something for one reason or another.

The girl rubbed the back of her head as she considered the surrounding Pokemon, frowning. They all seemed...so much larger than Xiaoli and Nahele, making her less than confident that either of her smaller team members would do well. Not wanting to risk having Xiaoli fight with another flying type either--that Hoothoot had been a close call--she shook her head at the team and they continued on to search further.

Farther on, a Munna could be seen walking around rather slowly. However, there seemed to be nothing else in the area. Wait... what was that sound? Something... was crunching in the snow, yet it remained unseen.... What... where was it even coming from?

Just as Aylin watched the Munna, the sound of crunching snow reached her ears. She stiffened automatically, wondering if the swinub had come back (though it was far quieter than the giant group of swinub from before, now that she thought about it). Her own Pokemon were looking around, eyes alert and ears pricked up high.
Knowing that her Arcanine had particularly keen senses--and that he would be the most formidable opponent if he was attacked--Aylin let her eyes meet his. He nodded once before taking careful steps in what he felt was the direction the sound had been coming from.

What came as an extremely wounded Zoroark seemed to be trying to move as quietly as she could through the snow. Her form looked wrecked with her appendages chewed up and scars lining her entire body, and she was barely standing let alone moving. What in the world had happened to her? As she caught sight of the human and the pokemon, she looked tiredly at all of them and then fell straight forwards in the snow. Oh dear...........

Aylin's eyes had widened into saucers as she stood there watching the Pokemon, stunned. Her Pokemon were the same--they all watched, unable to move or talk. When the Zoroark fell however, Aylin immediately snapped out of her stupor. "...! A-are you alright?!"
She immediately moved towards the wounded Pokemon, kneeling down in the cold snow as her team followed suit. Nahele moved forward towards the Zoroark's face, whining softly as he gently nudged him with concern. 'Are you okay? What happened?' he wanted to know, while Faris and Xiaoli gathered around. Aylin, meanwhile, dug desperately through her bag. A potion or a super potion would help a bit, right?

<I.....picked the wrong time to fight.......> the Zoroarck breathed outwards as the potion was administered. She felt a little better but was still weak at that point. She hadn't even had time to hide her form with illusion... it was just.......just.......She couldn't even get her thoughts straight at that point and looked weakly at the girl and her pokemon.

One potion definitely wasn't enough. Would more do the trick? She wasn't sure. The fact was that Aylin was in a state of panic, her heart thumping violently against her ribcage as she stared down at the Pokemon. Maybe...a Pokemon center? But Aylin had no idea where the nearest one was, and she wasn't sure how to get the poor thing there. Maybe on Faris' back, but...
"J-just...stay awake, okay? Don't pass out on us." Pulling her jacket off, she folded it up clumsily and gently slid it beneath the Zoroark's head. Her team had begun to gather any dry twigs that they could find, assuming that warming the Zoroark up would provide her with some comfort.
'The wrong time to fight...what do you mean by that?' Xiaoli asked, dropping a few twigs on a growing pile that was situated a few feet away from them (and carefully situated away from any trees). He cast a look at his panic-stricken trainer before adding, 'You're pretty badly bruised up. Anything broken or er...well, potentially fatal?'

The large dark type looked at the girl and tried to nod... Her entire body was so stiff.......><........After a few seconds, the Zoroark managed to look towards Xiaoli and breathed out a little. <I thought I could win against a horde of Swinub... and lost.........> she would have laughed... had it not hurt to laugh. Ow........... =_=. It was relatively quiet in the area........which meant the Swinub weren't around......hopefully........
