Beneath the Surface (Kero)

Ty found himself in the sewer of all places. The man needed time alone, and what better place than down here? No one would follow him, and he doubted he'd randomly run into someone--especially someone he knew.

Ty walked on the dry part, as the stench of the nearby sewer water surrounded him. Blazer and Adrian walked with him; Blazer to look out for his master, and Adrian loved the attention. Every now and then Ty would pet them, or scratch them behind the ears because he knew both of them loved that.

Ty wasn't really paying attention, though did he really have to? One thing was for sure. Take a walk through the sewers first thing in the morning, and nothing worse can happen to you for the rest of the day, right?

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] “Wake me when the sun goes down.” Sen asked the large Ariados who was standing on the side of the sewer wall. Sen was sitting with his back leaned up against the same wall, his purple eyes closed and his knees slightly bent up. He had decided it was time to get his sleeping pattern back into sink. Sleeping during the day and play at night. The day time was beginning to prove to be too difficult. At least in the cities. There were too many people around during the day to recognize his face and he was tired of spending his day running. As much fun as it was to out run guards and bounty hunters, it was unproductive. So, there he was, propped up against the wall in a sewer ready to take a long needed nap. Ada skittered further up the wall to hide. He was just about to drift off when heard the sounds of foot steps. ‘Who else would be down here?’ he thought to himself before letting out a small sigh. It was most likely some sort of bum or something. If they were dangerous Ada would sound the alarm for him. [/scrolly] [bg=4f2a66]

Blazer's ears perked up, thinking he heard something farther down. The man continued with his Fire and Electric types right by his side. When someone came into view, Ty muttered a string of curses under his breath. Him? Really?

The man just stood there for now, thinking. He didn't want to continue on and risk Sen seeing him. Nor did he want to turn around and go back; that would just have made the trip this far a huge waste of time. Then again, as far as Ty was concerned, wouldn't going on ahead be a waste of time, too? "Stay close," Ty whispered to Adrian and Blazer. "And don't let your guard down."

And so, Ty started walking by Sen, hoping that the man wouldn't see him.

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Sen’s left eye opened just slightly as heard the footsteps in front of him. He didn’t even have to fully open the eye to know who the man was. It seemed even if he hadn’t of ever wanted to see Ty again he wouldn’t have had a choice. “You are heavy on your feet.” He commented only seconds after the younger man passed him. It was true. At least in Sen’s mind it was. He didn’t realize he was sounding a bit like Kel by saying it. In all honestly he was just letting Ty know his flaw so he could fix it. Ada on the other hand wasn’t as relaxed as Sen. She was sitting very still in her hiding spot, watching both Sen and the younger man very carefully. [/scrolly] [bg=4f2a66]

"Maybe I am," he spat rather impatiently. "I'm not trying to do a job, I'm just walking. Besides, what the hell do you care?" he asked as he started to walk past.

As they did, Blazer gave Sen an intense stare, snarling as he did so.

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Sen opened his fully as the younger man snapped at him, his purple eyes landing on the blond hair and pretty face. “Because I once loved you.” he answered with a smirk before looking away and closing his eyes once more. He had ignored the growl from Blazer but Ada wasn’t so impressed with it. She did not move yet but she had to stay still for now. She always did. [/scrolly] [bg=4f2a66]

[KARP KARP!]

Those words made Ty almost want to puke. "Yeah, right...you took complete advantage of me. I don't even know for sure what your real name even is. I was looking for a pick-me-up, you make me crumble then watch me fall apart...If that's love, please hate me..."

Blazer's eye caught the Ariados, and he growled louder. Adrian snuggled into Ty, purring as he scratched behind her head.

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Now if he could have felt those feelings of sorrow, broken hearted or even depression he may have actually been upset by his words. Sadly for Sen, he couldn’t feel any of those and thus he simply smiled. “There were plenty of attractive women in that bar.” Sen stated still smiling, “Yet you had to go for the one I was with after you had dumped me.” He slowly stood himself up, “If I could feel sorrow, I surely would have felt worse than you. Besides, I did nothing more but tell the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts. So I’ve been told.” Ada didn’t move from her spot even as the Arcanine spotted her. She had no idea how it had found her but she wasn’t about to fight the other pokemon just because it had. After all, she wasn’t a fighter. She was a protector. [/scrolly] [bg=4f2a66]

"You made it very clear you'd wanted me, not her," Ty corrected coldly. "Obviously you don't feel guilt either, because you played the poor girl worse than I had, from what I understand. Even if not, you're still just as guilty as I am. But see, Sen...Ace...Bob....George...Alfred...whatever the hell your name is, the difference between me and you is, I made things right." Ty's eyes locked on Sen with an icy stare. "So if nothing else, I have the heart, here. And you, you're just like....him..."

Blazer's instinct had always been to examine the area thoroughly; using all of his senses. Though really it was only by luck he saw the spider on the wall. His gaze shifted to Sen, and he growled.

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Sen looked at Ty’s chest as the younger man claimed he had a heart where Sen clearly didn’t. It made him wonder if Ty was right. With so many of his feelings missing did he in fact have a heart? ‘Maybe if I had those feelings I…’ He thought to himself, the idea making his stomach feel sick. He had even been forced to lightly bring his hand up to his mouth to keep himself from physically being sick. But that’s when he realized he had to have a heart. It was hard to tell sometimes but why else would he try to keep himself from making other people sad sometimes? It had to be because he had a heart… right? “You’re right.” Sen finally replied, his purple eyes returning to Ty. “I have no guilt. No sorrow. No anger. No sympathy. I only care about myself and my possessions, pokemon included. I’m a jerk and a blind stubborn self-centered pig-headed ass.? He was repeating the words a friend, his only friend, had told him once. Yet she was still his friend even if he was all of the above. Like she had explained to him, if she was still his friend than there had to be others out there who would like him for who he was. Kel was still there, wasn’t he? “But… I lost my feelings many years ago. I don’t even remember having them. So what is your excuse than? You show compassion to one being so you think leaving the other in the ditch equals it out? I might not have the feelings, but I can point out when something isn’t complete. You’re more like your father than you think. You take someone in, abandon them and take in someone else.” Sen didn’t sound upset, or angry as he spoke these words. It seemed that every word spoken sounded more like facts pulled from a book or a piece of paper. But thinking of Kel… “I kissed him.” Sen suddenly announced. He was unsure of why he said it, but he couldn’t stop now. “He tasted just like you.” [/scrolly] [bg=4f2a66]

"I didn't leave you in the ditch! I knew it wouldn't work out after realizing who you worked for. You yourself claimed you were bad with commitment, but you wanted me that night. I needed some time away, but hey. You can sleep with who you want to after we're broken up, but you have to be my only option? That, is what doesn't balance out. You can do whatever you want, but I have rules to follow, right? Well sc--" Ty's sentence broke short when Sen said that last part about kissing Kel.

What in the name of--"I really didn't want to know that, but at this rate, he's the closest to me you're ever going to get again..." Ty's gaze broke away from Sen. "I liked you...when we first met. I actually thought we could have...been something....But I realize I don't even know who you are. We break up and you still try to keep me for yourself--along with whoever the hell else you're sleeping with in the meantime... Those icy blue eyes looked like they were about to shed tears, then his gaze hardened again.

"No. I refuse to let you take advantage of me anymore. We settle this. Right here, right now." Calling back Adrian, he let Blazer stay out, who was at the moment growling at Sen like he was about to rip the man's throat out. And the Arcanine really wanted to; Sen had hurt Ty. No one hurt Ty on his watch.

"What do ya say? I have six--er...five Pokemon I can use. One's just a baby; so obviously she won't be battling. If I win, you let me be, and I'll come to you when--if--I'm ready. If you win..." The man's mind raced, thinking of something Sen couldn't refuse. Sure, Kel had beaten Ty, but Sen wasn't Kel; and besides, Ty had gotten a good bit stronger since then, right?

"If you win..." He let out a long sigh. "I'm yours."

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] “Humm, yes, we’ve already been through that I am a jerk.” He commented with a soft smile just before Ty claimed it was time to settle everything… with a pokemon battle? He listened carefully as the younger man gave the conditions and rules. Sadly for Ty he didn’t agree to one of the prizes. “No.” He said sharply, “If I win you give you thieving. Forever.” It was a high demand but Sen had his reasons for it. Part of him was telling him to take that first offer Ty had given but… What Kali had said was still in his mind. For one reason he looked up to Kali. Almost like she was a… he wasn’t sure. But she had told him that there would be people out there who like him for who he was. If he had to force Ty to like him then that was wrong, wasn’t it? He should feel ashamed of that, shouldn’t he? Yes, he was certain he should. “That’s the only prize I’ll accept.” Sen claimed stubbornly, the grin reappearing on his face as he reached down and pulled out a poke ball. “Do we have a deal?” [/scrolly] [bg=4f2a66]

"I wouldn't say jerk," Ty said sweetly, then turning his voice back sharp to add, "I prefer the term asshole."

Ty tried his best to keep from cracking up laughing, smiling, or even smirking. "Done." he replied, keeping his face serious, though his eyes twinkled with mischief. "Blazer," At his name, the Arcanine's ears perked up and he stepped forward, ready for battle.

"You stay for now. I might need you later, okay boy?"

"Niiiiine ;-;" <But but but....Okay....>

Ty reached into his bag, pulling out a Pokeball. "Zang, you're up first."

The Zangoose popped out, ready for battle; it was hard to tell just days before he'd been depresed. But Zang was back on top. <Who wants a taste?> he asked, showing off his claws.

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] “I wont argue that” Sen claimed with slight chuckle before his eyes fell on the Arcanine. He had figured the boy was going to use the fire type first but when he didn’t Sen slowly set the pokeball in his hand back and pulled out another. Most of pokemon weren’t battlers but he wasn’t expecting to win anyway. Ty wanted this battle and therefore Sen couldn’t say no. He wasn’t sure why he couldn’t but he couldn’t. Perhaps Ty would… feel better after a battle? Maybe. He wouldn’t ask though. Ty didn’t need to know he was battling someone who rarely used his pokemon for battling. “Might as well let you duke this out.” Sen claimed as he tossed the pokeball in his hand, a flash of light releasing Seth, his Raichu. “Run at him with Agility” Sen called out. Seth, who had a rather worried expression on his face nodded and started towards the other pokemon. He really didn’t want to hurt the other pokemon but he knew it was either the Zangoose or him. Zang's eyes narrowed when he saw the Raichu; he remembered Seth all too well. And hey, when Zang had a score to settle, he only knew one way. Kick the living crap out of them.

"Zang, use Ice Beam."

The Zangoose shook his head no. <I got dis, kid. Lemme do my magic.> Zang's paw became coated in a layer of ice as he tried to meet the charging electric-mouse with an Ice Punch. <'Ey, remember me, punk?>

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] “Thunder” Sen called out as he watched the Zangoose charge forward as well. Seth jumped up into the air, curling his body slightly as he began to glow. <A real electric attack> He commented back to Zang as the electricity released from his body and raced through the air towards the Zangoose. He remembered Zang. The creature had believed he had attacked his trainer. Well, now he at least could show the Zangoose what a real electric attack looked like. [/scrolly] [bg=4f2a66]

Zang was caught by the electric attack, and he fell to the ground. But, Zang wasn't one to let one hit bring him down. <Heh...if I wanted a kiss I'da asked your lady friend from the bar,> he said slyly.

Then, just because it seemed like an appropriate thing to do, the Zangoose launched an Ice Beam at the Raichu. <Maybe dis'll shut ya up.>

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] Upon seeing the ice attack being formed by Zang, the Raichu began to ran, trying his best to keep out of the of the rage of the attack. “Seth, Light Screen!” Sen called out, knowing his buddy wouldn’t be able to out run the attack for long. The Raichu stopped running, closing his eyes as a clear, slightly shinny ball surrounded him, protecting him from half of any special attack used on him. Yet as the screen was created the ice beam hit, causing him to fall back, hitting the ground. “Thunder Wave” Sen called out, the Raichu making it back up onto his feet and getting ready to send another electric charge towards Zang. Zang used Detect to evade the Thunder Wave. <D'Awww...I t'ink I hit a nerve.> He smirked; glad Ty was the kind of guy to let him do his own thing.

Then, in the blink of an eye, the Zangoose moved, rushing at Seth with a Quick Attack. Zang wasn't usually the type to play mind games; but given the circumstances, the normal-type just found it fun.

Ty watched the battle, his eyes occasionally locking on Sen.

[scrolly:h(230),w(390),sy,as(padding:4px;margin-top:10px;margin-left:10px;)] <You talk a lot> Seth replied back after his Thunder Wave was blocked. The Zangoose began using a Quick Attack after he spoke giving Seth no time to block or dodge. The attack ended up hitting him, sending him back into the ground. “Ahh, Counter?” Sen called out, unsure if his Raichu even had the attack. He couldn’t remember. Luckily for him, Seth did have Counter and he quickly stood up again to send a blast twice as strong as the Quick Attack back at Zong. The entire time the battle raged on Sen didn’t look up at Ty. His eyes were focused on the pokemon trying his hardest to keep up with the battle to at least make it worth Ty’s time. [/scrolly] [bg=4f2a66]
